Robert Ludlum's The Blackbriar Genesis by Simon Gervais is without a doubt one of best of Ludlum's spinoffs! DNI Russell wants ex-Treadstone head operative, Oliver Manton to bring Blackbriar back to life. Agreed, he recruits Helen Joubert to partner with Donovan Wade, ex-CIA agents. Assignment--Cartel activity with the Russians/CRU, research, decision, eliminate as many bad actors as located. From Cairo to Prague th North Macedonia, Helen and Donovan are faced with multiple challenges as they evolve into a tight-knit team. There's plenty of international action, mayhem, blood, and bullets! Excellent story woven through an amazing pace with an outstanding resolution!
I highly recommend this outstanding thriller by Simon Gervais!!!

One of the most talented authors is at it again with a fiery and stellar adventure in The Blackbriar Genesis. Simon Gervais supplies everything you need in this Treadstone based thriller with stellar plot creation, supreme character development, and some of the most badass action scenes around.

The need for a dark program arises after one of the United States Deputy Secretaries is almost gunned. Treadstone is falling by the wayside, or already has, it really doesn’t matter. Blackbriar is now the new fresh toy in town with Helen Jouvert and Donovan Wade globetrotting doing America’s shadowy work. Jouvert and Wade are on a mission to figure out what is going on when a long vetted Treadstone agent is killed and the plans for meetings and travel itineraries are showing up about American dignitaries. Jouvert and Wade must battle through a number of conflicts and numerous bad dudes as they try and figure out the connection between the Russians and the Mexican based cartels. Why would the two be teaming up and why is an American social media addiction going to lead towards the hopeful downfall of a nation?

Gervais is a writing gunslinger, delivering shot after shot of clever dialogue and endless intrigue. Do yourself a favor and check his work out. I have been a fan since Mike Walton, and I have waded through the Pierce Hunt and Clayton White destruction, and this is just another feather in the cap as he continues to impress. The storyline is always refreshing, locations unmatched, and the way he draws you in is so simple. He is worthy of all the praise you'll be sending him soon and he is so deserving of writing a Robert Ludlum universe thriller. The plot is murky at first, intentionally, then the action reaches a peak tempo for a majority of the story and won’t leave you asking when the fires are starting to burn. Simon Gervais will light a fire under your butt and you’ll absolutely love it.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope he writes more! I am totally hooked!

My primary interest in the Robert Ludlum series was Jason Bourne, but one must move on. Sad to say that Two Blackbriar operatives, Helen Jouvert and Donovan Wade, do not come close to a Jason Bourne. The Blackbriar Genesis takes these to to Prague, where a Treadstone agent has met his death. The story moves to Cairo and North Macedonia. I enjoyed reading the tale. Author Simon Gervais shows talent especially with his action scenes.
Jouvert and Wade become closer as the story progresses, and hints of sequels arise.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

Creating a completely new fictional counterintelligence agency would be difficult to do on its own, but to have to tie in the history and components of other series would be that much harder. To take it up a notch, imagine then doing so within the world of Robert Ludlum and all the weight and expectation of that. Simon Gervais had his work cut out for him. Luckily, Simon just keeps getting better book after book. The man can flat out write, crafting compelling stories with interesting characters, with plots that are supplemented and elevated by his personal and professional experiences. There is an authenticity to his writing that shines through his works and engages the readers like few others.

Great thriller in jason bourne style. Helen and Donovan are searching for a traitor and become involved in russian spies and mexican drug cartels.. like the threadstone books this is a great start of a new series. Can’t wait for the next book from Simon Gervais.

As a big fan of Ludlum's work, I approach new books in the Ludlum universe with a bit of caution. However, Simon Gervais really delivers here. There's a good amount of action to keep things moving along at a brisk pace, and there's lots of twists and turns and espionage action that kept me riveted. I ripped through this book, it's so good I didn't want to put it down. I really hope there's a sequel because this will make a great series.

This is an excellent addition to the Ludlum universe. The book is fast paced full of action, espionage and betrayal. The book is well written and will keep you engrossed from the first page. This is the first in a series by this author and there is room for a sequel. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Simon Gervais enters into the Robert Ludlum universe with a statement in The Blackbriar Grenesis. When a Treadstone agent is assassinated it is up to Blackbriar agents, Helen Jouvert and Donovan Wade, to investigate. Never working together and hardly acquainted, the duo will have to survive multiple assassins and armed-to-the-teeth terrorists all while learning to trust each other. The intelligent, and quite deadly, duo uncover a conspiracy with worldwide implications that are already in motion. The overarching theme is reminiscent of our world today and Gervais lets the bullets fly in order to save democracy.

Simon Gervais is one of my must read authors and he delivers the goods with The Blackbriar Genesis. Intense action, interesting plots complete with twists, and wonderful characters are hallmarks of Gervais' books. And he hits it out of the park with Jouvert and Wade. Think of them as a slightly toned down Jason Bourne except there's two of them. Working for Blackbriar, Wade and Jouvert's main mission with the outfit is counterintelligence. Basically, their job is to f" up the enemy's intelligence operations and capabilities. While the action is heart stopping and tense, what I enjoyed the most in The Blackbriar Genesis was the dynamic between Jouvert and Wade and the bond they form through car chases, explosions, and hit teams.

If you are not familiar with Gervais' work, The Blackbriar Genesis is a great place to start and is a worthy addition to the Ludlum universe. You won't be disappointed!

My sincere thanks to Simon Gervais, G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of The Blackbriar Genesis.

Robert Ludlum’s The Blackbriar Genesis by Simon Gervais is an exciting new thriller which takes the reader on a roller coaster ride beginning in Cairo, Egypt with an exciting ambush/car crash attack on American diplomats. It continues at the same pace throughout various European locations including Prague and Macedonia. This novel is definitely not for the faint-hearted with its vivid and frequent displays and descriptions of killings.

The story is set in the current era depicting organizations such as PROYECTO VERDAD & UR Real News. Does this bear any resemblance to anyone spouting off about “fake” news? There is even mention of a cat named Melania in the book.

This book is highly recommended for readers of thrillers who are not put off by constant violence.

I want to thank NetGalley and G.P Putnam’s Sons Penguin Random House for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication.

The Blackbriar Genesis is a marvelous addition to the new Ludlum-verse with intriguingly awesome guns-blazing protagonists that are sure to become one of your favorite duos.Simon Gervais has officially outdone himself with this superbly fleshed out narrative that walks the crisp line between hard-boiled espionage and adrenaline-pumping action. Gervais establishes each new face with a memorable selling point that makes you yearn for more of these exciting heroes.
The Blackbriar Genesis takes readers for a wild ride with two operatives, Helen Jouvert and Donovan Wade, investigating the assassination of a Treadstone operative who was working unbeknownst to his handlers. With a sinister conspiracy brewing by enigmatic faces hiding behind proxies, Jouvert and Wade must follow the trail of murderous breadcrumbs through backalley shootouts and high-speed car chases to uncover the mystery before their lives are forfeit.
The Blackbriar Genesis grabs your undivided attention from the very first spine-tingling page of gritty paranoia and propels you through fast-paced high-energy action-boosted chapters that will surely satisfy that itch you’re having for some hardcore espionage-action fusion. Keep your eyes peeled for references and callbacks to Jason Bourne and Adam Hayes as the shared universe grows bigger and better. Jouvert and Wade are fantastic additions to the roster, each with the charisma to make you feel for them and root for them in dire situations augmented by well-crafted dialogue and fascinating backstories.
The supreme suspense keeps you biting your nails bare way past your bedtime. The Blackbriar Genesis opens up a treasure trove of storylines that can be explored in the most-certainly guaranteed sequels, perhaps even a cool team-up.
