Coming back to the Well Met series is always like a warm hug. I've only been to a renaissance festival once, but it's the perfect setting for these romance books!

I loved that Well Traveled was a lot more about Louisa's personal growth than about their romance. I think we all can relate to wanting to run away from real life to join the faire for a little while. She was able to find herself and figure out what kind of career would actually make her happy.

Dex got kind of a bad rap in the previous books, so I was glad to see him redeem himself in this one.

While Mitch's story will always be my favorite, it was a treat to return to these characters and the faire.

This series continues to delight. I enjoy how all the characters are interconnected. While not necessarily all bffs, they all know each other somehow and relationships and friendships throughout the books continue to grow and flourish. With cameos from all the characters from previous books, this series feels cozy and welcoming. Each main characters' situations are different -- and Lulu's really resonated with me -- but they all center around the Renaissance Faire and the relationships that are made along the way. Lulu and Dex's story is a fun time, and both characters do a lot of growing throughout the story. I thoroughly enjoy the books in this series.

I mostly liked this book but I found this a little lighter than the other books of the sequel! There are so many things I enjoyed but I had some hesitations about love story!

Pros: this book totally takes place in road trip to Faire universe!

Mitch and Well Played’s Stacey, Daniel and Declan/ Dex- Dueling Kits are back again!

Cons: this book is more women’s fiction and a woman’s self growth story than romance

Super cute!

I liked this series and Well Traveled delivers a believable romance despite happing in the Renaissance Faire.

Louisa "Lulu" Malone is an attorney and in order to become a partner she has been working nonstop. When her boss calls her, she's at the Renaissance Faire. She has been working all day and she finally decided to spend some time walking through the Faire which brings her happy memories. When her boss tells her she needs to go back to work, she realizes she's never gonna become a partner and she decides to quit and gets rid of her phone. When she realizes she's out of a job and starts to panic, luckily there is Stacy who knows her cousin Mitch and who offers to take her traveling with the Faire for a few weeks. Stacy recognizes that disengaging from her laptop and her phone can help her realize what she wants to do next. She knows she does not want to do the same thing she has been doing for the last few years.

As part of the characters, she meets Dex who is part of the Dueling Kilts. He has a reputation for being a lady's man but as we get to know him we discover that he has some layers that no one has been willing to peel until Lulu.

I liked this one a lot. Stacey was a no-nonsense heroine. She was strong but I liked that she could be spontaneous too. Dex was a nice surprise and shame on those who didn't realize his potential. Another great thing was that we were able to see how the characters from the prior books were doing.

Cliffhanger: No

As you know by now, I am a huge fan of Jen DeLuca's Well Met series, so I was really excited when Well Traveled reached the top of my Kindle queue. And it was definitely worth the wait!

While Well Matched only had a few Ren Faire scenes (but I still loved it anyway), Well Traveled is immersed in the Ren Faire and most of the scenes take place there. I felt like I was right at the Faire with everyone else, breathing in all the scents and feeling the summer heat. It made me want to go to a Ren Faire again right away! (Thankfully, I saw Something Rotten recently and that helped to tide me over for a bit.)

Lulu's situation was definitely interesting. She basically went off the grid for a while and just focused on being in the present and enjoying her time at the Ren Faire, and with one particular musician. ;) The steamy scenes were really hot! (Jen writes these scenes really well in her novels.) I love the way Stacey brought her into the fold and how they became friends. There was also some interesting drama going on in the group.

This novel focuses a lot on tarot cards and fortunetelling. I am personally not into that kind of stuff, but Jen gave me a new appreciation for how it works. I also love how Lulu was working with the fortunetellers and how she bonded with them.

Overall, another great story from the Well Met series. I heard there will a fifth book coming, so I can't wait to see what happens next! I wonder if Caitlin (April's daughter) will get her own story soon...

Movie casting suggestions (most are from my other reviews from this series):
Lulu: Karen Gillan
Stacey: Samantha Hanratty
Dex: Chase Stokes
Daniel: Calum Worthy
Frederick: Noah Galvin
Todd: Liam Aiken
Summer: Alice Kremelberg
Sage: Robin Tunney
Sasha: Lucy Fry
Emily: Molly Gordon
Simon: Munro Chambers
Mitch: Graham Rogers
April: Gillian Jacobs
Caitlin: Caroline Grossman
Lulu and Mitch's grandma: Shirley Jones

3.5 Stars

I enjoyed the story but it definitely read more like a women's fiction story than a romance. I just wish that we had seen more of Dex and Lulu's relationship developing. I didn't feel like I SAW him falling for Lulu as much as I was told that he did. I do like them together and my imagination could piece together how & when he started to fall but I don't want to have to imagine it, I want to READ it.

Overall, I think this was a good addition to the series and was happy to see Dex finally leave his manwhoring in the past but I would have LOVED it had I seen his growth a little more fleshed out.

Well Traveled is by far my favorite in this series.

Obviously as with the other books everything Ren Faire was amazingly well written and made me feel like I was there. I liked that with each book we get some different things, and this one included tarot readers, which is something I'm just getting into myself.

Lulu was an overworked corporate lawyer who finally hits her breaking point when her boos asks her (again) for something that she literally cannot accomplish. She quits and at the urging of her cousin Mitch takes up with the Dueling Kilts to disconnect from the modern world. While at first she struggles, she eventually leans into the lifestyle, finding her place at the Ren Faire. She begins to realize that she wants different things from the other people in her life and it's time to make choices for her.

Dex is a member of the Dueling Kilts and is super chill and laid back. He's also quite the ladies man, which is good for many jokes at the beginning. He clearly starts to fall for Lulu and gives up the woman at every faire lifestyle he previously had.

Dex and Lulu were such a good fit for each other. Lulu needs Dex to reminder to relax and not be on the go so much. Dex needs Lulu to remind him that he's more than just a pretty face. I love how everything worked out in the end and you know they'll be in it for the long haul.

I like this series but didn't need a 4th book... not sure I really believed this relationship or chemistry. Book 1 was by far the best, but I do appreciate getting to see more from other characters.

I love this series and was very excited to get a chance to read book 4 about Dex and Lulu. Dex is the Casanova of the Dueling Kilts and Lulu is the cousin of Mitch from the Willow Springs Renaissance Festival. Dex has a new chick at each of the fests they travel to but that all begins to change when Lulu hits the scene. She was a lawyer who realized her boss was a misogynist and was never planning to make her partner of the firm. She quits her job and ends up joining Stacy, Daniel, Dex and the rest of The Dueling Kilts for three months on the renaissance circuit. I absolutely loved seeing Lulu step away from her stressful life and free herself. I think she really blossomed and you could sense the freedom she felt from stepping outside her comfort zone. It was also fun seeing Dex come out of the “manwhore” box that everyone had him placed in. Together, he and Stacy showed each other that they each deserved more from the world. I loved seeing both of their personalities light up. Especially after they finally get together and don’t care if anybody knows it. It was really refreshing to see that neither one of them tried to change the other like you sometimes see in similar storylines. They just accepted each other for who they were and ended up growing together. Overall this story was super cute with a little bit of steam to make a really fun romantic comedy. I have a feeling this is the last book in the series but I wish it wasn’t. I would love to see more from all of the characters and couples of this series.

I just love this series! It is so miuch fun to visit this world time after time. Lulu and Dex are great. I wasn't sure how things with Dex would be, but by the end I just loved him. Plus we got some Mitch on this book and the book is still my favorite. This was a really fun read and this series might become a comfort read forn me.

I liked Well Traveled, but I think I didn't love it as much as Well Met and Well Matched. The book read a bit like women's fiction since it seemed less romance and more about Lulu's personal growth. I was never a big fan of Dex, but he did grow on me. The renaissance fair setting is always fun but I think by the fourth book, it doesn't suck me in as much.

This is one of my favorite series. As someone from Maryland who enjoys Renn Faire, these definitely resonate with me. This book like others was also enjoyable. It wasn’t necessarily my favorite of the series but it was a quick fun read and I enjoyed the connection between the characters. Overall it was light and enjoyable and I liked it.

Thanks NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for this arc!

This was a cute, quick read, perfect if you need something light and easy on the brain. I found it a little predictable, but the cute relationship and friendships made up for that! I liked Lulu and Dex's character development throughout the book, and their compromises together. I hadn't read anything else in this series before this one, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything as the few things they alluded to were eventually explained fully later on. All in all, cute book!

Well Traveled by Jen DeLuca is the 4th book in the Well-Met series, and honestly, this is my favorite out of them all. Even though this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Well Traveled follows Lulu, who is Mitch’s cousin from Well Matched and Dex from Well Played.

I am all for stories about finding yourself and finding love along the way. This story was sweet, and I loved the character development for Lulu as she navigates a new life path full of unknowns, something that she is not used to. I hope this series continues for a while because I enjoy reading about these characters.

P.S. I have plans to attend my first Renaissance Fair this year.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my e-copy! All opinions are my own.

I always pick these up because I love Renaissance Faires, so a romance novel taking place over the summer during a Faire always sounds fun.

I only pick up maybe a couple romance books a year, but what I seem to like about them is when the couple has good chemistry or support for each other, or if it’s a more dramatic book, good tension or angst. I didn’t get any of that here. Our lead, Lulu, has a career crisis and gives up trying to make partner at her law firm, quitting and running away to join the Renaissance Faire for the summer as a break. Dex is a member of the Dueling Kilts band and known as quite the womanizer. He’s even been mentioned in past installments of this series with that reputation. With creating a romance with him in it, I wanted to know more about Dex. What is his actual personality? Or what draws him to Lulu to give up other girls? There’s nothing really explored there– it’s just that they pair up together over the summer and want to make it exclusive. They also don’t really talk about anything substantial or show how their feelings for each other develop. It didn’t really sell the relationship, so it made it hard to enjoy as a romance novel.

It does somewhat focus on Lulu’s life as she finds herself without her demanding job. This can make a strong character-focused storyline, but this wasn’t really well developed either. It was actually pretty repetitive. I mean I guess it’s life working at a Faire that can get repetitive, but it was wake up, work at Faire, talk a lot to the tarot card ladies (like a lot of tarot card talking!), and then go to bed and do it all over. The other books have a lot of either banter between the couple that happens during the Faire, or there are events that take place during the Faire that are interesting and give the characters stuff to do and interact with. I really got sick of the tarot card people– there’s more to a Faire than them!

Lastly, there was a section of the book where the character from the second book, Stacey, was talking about how she met her significant other. If you weren’t aware, the plot ended up revolving around catfishing. Stacey was explaining why the catfishing wasn’t a big deal. The 2nd book of this series isn’t as well liked because of the catfishing aspect, and this insert felt like the author was telling readers to suck it up. It really didn’t fit or flow into this book, so it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I really enjoyed the first and third book of this series, with the 3rd being my favorite. If another comes out I’m sure I’ll still end up picking it up, but I’m wondering if ideas revolving around Renaissance Faire romances are drying up for the author. Again, there wasn’t much chemistry between the couple, and it felt like there weren't any ideas on what the characters could do in this one.

Unfortunately, this has been my least favorite in this series. It's not bad, per say, but it's just solidly meh. I think it might be time to move on from the Ren Faire life, for both me and Jen DeLuca. I felt no desire for Lousia and Dex to get together or stay together, and although I can appreciate a woman taking what she wants and making the career she wants, it all just felt a little lackluster.

If you've read the rest of the series, you may want to come back to this world, but maybe don't get your hopes too high.

I feel like every book in this series that comes out somehow manages to be better than the last, and each one is my new favorite. Well Traveled is certainly no exception to that trend, and I fell hard and fast for this book. I was in a pretty big reading slump, but then ended up devouring this book all in one sitting!

I really love Louisa (aka Lulu), and can identify with her frustration with her career and being sort of lost as to what her path should be. After all, don't we all want to run away to join the circus (or Renaissance Faire) at some point in our lives? I know I sure do! (...Frequently.) The slow building of the friendship between Lulu and Dex is just lovely, and I love getting to go along for the ride as Lulu learns so much about herself and opens herself up to new experiences. This book also made me start back up with my daily tarot reading practice, haha!

This is the fourth book in the Well Met series, and can be read as a standalone. That being said, I do recommend reading the second book, Well Played, before reading Well Traveled, as Stacy and boys of The Dueling Kilts are main characters in that one and very prominent side characters in book four, and there are some spoilers for book two in this one. Though for real, all four books are AMAZING so you should really just read the whole series. ;)

First five star book of 2023! I absolutely devoured this from the Well Met series. I'm not sure what spell Jen DeLuca has cast over me, but I have been obsessed with every single book in this series. She has made me fall in love with Ren Faires and the community of characters in these books. Which is a feat for someone who has never been to a Ren Faire or had much interest in one. Though you can read these books as a stand-alone, I'm not sure why you would! And I think one of the best parts of this series is the development of the side characters and the Ren Faire community.

Though this book departs the faire originally introduced in Willow Creek, Maryland, it still has all the elements I have come to love. I absolutely loved Lulu as the heroine in this book. Who hasn't wanted to quit their job and run away to join the faire?? Even more so if there are men in kilts. And Dex was an oh so dreamy bad boy with a hidden sweet side -- my favorite. I loved the elements of forced proximity in this book and the tension between Lulu and Dex. If you haven't read this, please pick it up immediately! I cannot recommend it enough!

The Renaissance Faire is on the move, and Lulu and Dex are along for the ride, in the next utterly charming rom-com from Jen DeLuca.

A high-powered attorney from a success-oriented family, Louisa "Lulu" Malone lives to work, and everything seems to be going right, until the day she realizes it’s all wrong. Lulu’s cousin Mitch introduced her to the world of Renaissance Faires, and when she spies one at a time just when she needs an escape, she leaps into the welcoming environment of turkey legs, taverns, and tarot readers. The only drawback? Dex MacLean: a guitarist with a killer smile, the Casanova of the Faire… and her traveling companion for the summer.

Dex has never had to work for much in his life, and why should he? Touring with his brothers as The Dueling Kilts is going great, and he always finds a woman at every Faire. But when Lulu proves indifferent to his many plaid charms and a shake-up threatens the fate of the band, Dex must confront something he never has before: his future.

Forced to spend days and nights together on the road, Lulu’s interest in the kilted bad boy grows as he shows her a side of himself no one else has seen. The stresses of her old lifestyle fade away as she learns to trust her intuition and follow her heart instead of her head. But when her time on the road is over, will Lulu go with her gut, or are she and Dex destined for separate paths?

This is my first by the author and I enjoyed this unique road trip story. I will have to check other books in the series.

Lulu is an attorney who being a woman isn't getting up the rank at work and is frustrated by the lifestyle. To escape that she goes to the Renaissance Faire and travels with the Dueling Kilts and more so with Dex.

Dex is a guitarist at the Renaissance Faire who plays with his brothers and had nothing to worry about. The entrance of Lulu makes him feel and think things he never has before.

I liked how the author shows the growth and self discovery of Lulu. This slow burn story is funny with opposites attract done at its best. The casting is wonderful and great. It shows choosing your path and something you enjoy is important and how we act how others expect.

This was cute just needed bit more romance. It was pleasant to read. I recommend this close proximity, friends to lovers, fun fair story to everyone.

Another great installment in this series! I had a lot of fun and I think DeLuca does a really great job creating interesting characters, compelling plot, and all around fun vibe you’d want from a romance novel set at a Ren Faire.
