I'm so thankful to both Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for sending me this ARC!

I loved how progressive Artemis was, and I loved her relationship with Celeste, Dominic's daughter. I loved the emphasis on sex education too because that's something you literally never read in a historical romance. I also really enjoyed Dominic. And this setup is SO fun - a bluestocking romance writer who falls for a stodgy duke with a bad reputation? Sign me up.

This one just didn’t work for me. I didn’t like the narrator. There was something about her voice, to feminine? She didn’t match the story. I found that I was skimming lots of it and it didn’t hold my attention. It just wasn’t for me.

Up All Night with a Good Duke by Amy Rose Bennett kept me thoroughly engaged. Artemis is clever and witty, and I love a brooding suitor. It didn't take me long into the book to be absolutely eager to read more. I would be thinking about this book while I had other activities to attend to that kept me from listening, it was that fantastic.

I love that Artemis is secretly a gothic romance author (I'm a fan of that genre myself), and the author mentioning Jane Eyre coupled with the Duke's past put just the right earwig in me that made just the slightest niggling spookiness to hit with some scenes.

This book hit a lot of my favorite romance tropes, so this was big win for me.

I am very much looking forward to the future books of The Byronic Book Club series.

This is my first time with this author and I really enjoyed it. This was an amazing story of Artemis Jones, a schoolteacher and Dominic Winters, the Duke of Dartmoor. When chance meeting for these two happen and sparks start fly the fun begins. I highly enjoyed these characters and the story was well paced and engaging. A wonderful start to this new series. And the narrator was great.

Quick Summary: Delightful!

My Review: Up All Night with a Good Duke by Amy Rose Bennett was really good. It was such a delight to lose myself in for a while. I laughed so hard. At the same time, there were some very concerning moments in the story.

About the Characters: D charmed the socks right off me. His story was heartbreaking and made him that much more endearing. A was a fierce warrior. I loved her no nonsense approach to female empowerment. (Right on!)

Chemistry: From the moment A and D bumped into each other, sparks flew. I loved that they both had a chance to find something special. After what they each endured, they deserved some happiness.

What I Loved About the Story:

* I adored how D did not judge A, despite what she had suffered.
* I loved that D handled the governess. (How dare she!)
* I loved that A and her friends had the type of relationship where she could call upon them to have her back.
* I loved that D's daughter finally came to a place of understanding where A and her father were concerned.
* I loved that A was finally able to learn the truth about her parents.
* I loved that A started to believe that she could have her heart's desire.
* I loved that the HEA was inevitable.

My Final Say: This was an engaging read that had all the feels.

Artemis Jones has made a career for herself as a teacher at a ladies’ finishing school, but in the evenings, she indulges her true passion: writing gothic romance novels under a carefully guarded pseudonym. Her true dream is to one day open a ladies’ college, focused on true academics more than societal graces and manners. She has been saving the money from her teaching salary, but it's not so large that it's enough to keep her in her position when her dear friend asks her to come to London and support her through her first Season. Artemis reasons that this could be an opportunity for her to find a wealthy patroness to start her school. She just has to resist her aunt’s strong-armed attempts to see her married off.

Dominic Winters, the Duke of Dartmoor, hasn’t taken much interest in the social whirl since his wife died over eight years ago. But now he is starting to realize that he really does need a wife to help him with his unruly fifteen-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances of his wife’s death, and the vitriol spewed by her brother, Society refers to Dominic as “The Dastardly Duke” and rumors abound that his wife was mad and that she died at his hand, leaving him with few choices. But when he meets fiery, outspoken Artemis Jones, Dominic realizes the unconventional bluestocking might suit him in every way.

For me this entire book was like a love letter to the gothic romances of old, full of frothy, flowery language and elaborate descriptions that were enhanced even further by the narration. Granted, some of the narrator’s fairly frequent mispronunciations and high-pitched, youthful voice were a little annoying, but she did a good job of nailing the generally dramatic bent of the story. Artemis did frustrate me a bit for a good chunk of the story with how closed-off and standoffish she was with Dominic while he kept giving her little bits and pieces of him. However, on the flip side of that, I liked that this dynamic allowed us to see Dominic being incredibly human and vulnerable. In much of his life, he is the formidable duke, so it was nice to also see him struggling with his feelings and fearing being hurt. It was even better when Artemis realized her feelings were genuine and put him out of his misery, but the set up here allowed for a gradual development of the relationship between Artemis and Dominic as well as growth for both of them as individuals. I liked that they both became so protective of one another and learned where their true priorities in life lay, those being family and relationships rather than allowing themselves to be governed by fear of gossip or societal limitations. I was glad to see the villain get his comeuppance and I’m interested to see where this new series is going next.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and its audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I requested Up All Night with a Good Duke after a friend recommended it. I really enjoyed it and now I have a new historical romance author whose backlist I much check out!

I loved so much of this one. Artemis was such an amazing female lead. She was so strong, independent, and dedicated to opening her school and her books. Despite being maligned for supposedly killing his wife, the Duke was a strong and supportive partner. I loved their fake relationship which became real. I really enjoyed the audiobook of this one and highly recommend it!

Artemis Jones is a schoolteacher and a gothic romance writer, which is scandalous for a woman in this time period. She has no desire to marry and dreams of opening a school. I found this premise to be great. Yet, I found the story to be a bit slow and the romance was lackluster. There isn’t much emotional depth, and the couple is very predictable with their actions. Although I loved the conversations between the main characters it was witty and fun. I also liked that both had strong personalities and were straightforward with each other.
Overall, this was a charming and enjoyable novel. The main characters are well written, although at times they are dull but likable. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes historical romances.

I received this audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape in exchange for an honest review.

Up All Night with a Good Duke - Is set in 1850's London where Artemis Jones is a finishing school teachers and when she is unexpectedly called by a dear friend, to navigate her first London Season, she quits her job and comes at once.

Dominic "The Dastardly Duke" Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoor, wants and needs a wife. He wants a woman who will provide him with an heir and help him with his teen daughter. Rumors are though, he murdered his mad wife, so his choices for a suitable bride are limited.

Then, he meets the ravishing and passionate Artemis Jones, who checks all the boxes and she does not care about rumors. SParks FLY!

Sometimes all that can get you out of reading slump is to read a funny, well-written and steamy historical romnce and AMy Rose Bennett DELIVERED!

In historical romance you find a lot of wallflowers, never been touched, clueless girls who are on their first season and just want to find a husband but that is the furthest thing from Artemis. She knows what she wants and will do everything in her power to get it. She has been educated in both books and the way of the world and wants to help other women receive and education by opening up a college.

Final Thoughts - I enjoyed the Duke and Artemis romance and felt that they really grew to love each other and each others families. This book is great if you want an engaging, witty, and delightful read with steamy scenes.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! It was a fun historical romance with plenty of humor, perfectly likable protagonists, and the narrator's performance kept me hooked on the story most of the way through. I did get a little bored towards the end because the ending was a little predictable but part of the boredom can be blamed on me being a mood reader who is always anxious to move onto the next title. Overall it was a decent historical romance and a well produced audiobook!

1.5 stars rounded up. Barely. I'd heard good things about this book, and it has a lovely cover, but I was quite unimpressed with the book overall. Not every writer even tries for 'believable' I suppose, but this felt so contrived that I kept pausing to be like "seriously??". Everything felt very shallow as well, so I had a hard time caring about the characters or what would happen to them.
And the story is largely, I don't know, 8 maybe? sex scenes loosely strung together. I'm not at all opposed to copious amounts of sex in novels, lol, but because the setup for the scenes felt so contrived and the characters so shallow, even the sex scenes were hard to muster care for. They felt a little frivolous, I don't think they really added to any character growth or relationship development. At least several could be made 'fade to black' and not really change the story at all! (To be clear I am not advocating authors DO more 'fade to black' scenes, lol, just that these scenes didn't add much beyond just sex. So I have read other books with this many or more sex scenes, but that were integral to the plot, and thus a bit more interesting).
And the dialogue felt a bit like a bad play. It was just all around disappointing for me really. I've read some other books by this author that I thought were okay, and I was hoping to like this one more, but it ended up less than most actually. I think overall her writing just isn't really a good match for me. I might try another several years from now if the premise particularly strikes me or something, but otherwise set this one aside.
I decided ultimately to round up, even though it was pretty much a straight miss for me, because there wasn't anything that strongly put me off. The characters get in their own way a bit, but not bad, and they're not *unlikable* really. The writing quality felt kinda poor to me, but not insultingly so. I won't think back agrily on it or anything. And I think many others will quite enjoy it. So I'm willing to kinda give it the benefit of the doubt.

I read this in two sittings it was that good!
It had great characters, a wonderful message and drama.
The two main characters, Artemis and Dominic, were interesting and fun to read about. They had a meet cute (happy dance!), banter, chemistry and could be vulnerable with each other. I loved their romance. I thought it was well developed.
The side characters did take some warming up to. I couldn’t stand Artemis’s aunt and the villain was truly despicable. But I really liked the heroine’s friends and their discussions about books.
Feminism is a main message of this book and I was here for it. My favorite line in the whole book comes from Artemis when she says, “Continuing to keep a young woman in the dark about anything pertaining to sexual congress wouldn’t do her any favors.” Like yes! Please scream this from the rooftops. I liked that the hero was progressive too considering he had a teenage daughter. It was the cherry on top.
The drama is mostly saved for the ending but it was worth it. Plus no third act breakup which was refreshing!
I also loved the audio book for this. The narrator did a great job.
A very delightful, enjoyable read that I can’t wait to gush about.

Up All Night with a Good Duke (first of all, GREAT pun) was a fun listen! Amy Rose Bennett tells the story of Artemis Jones, a self-proclaimed spinster who is secretly writing a series of salacious gothic novels and hopes to one day open an academic ladies' college. She comes into town to support her sister and best friend during their seasons, but she runs into Dominic Winters -- also known as the Dastardly Duke. Dominic was falsely accused of murdering his wife, and it's cut his prospects down for another wife (as he needs someone to provide him with an heir) greatly.

I had a lot of fun with this book! The chemistry between Artemis and Dominic was off the charts, the sex scenes were wonderfully written, and I especially love the relationship that Artemis develops with Dominic's 15-year-old daughter, Celeste. I also think that Sasha Higgins was an excellent narrator. There are some narrators where I start the book and just can't get through it, and that certainly was not an issue in this case. The ONLY criticism that I would have for Higgins is that I didn't love her male voices -- some of them felt quite nasally and it just didn't really work for me. I still loved her overall storytelling, however.

That said, there were so many things going on outside of the romance that it felt like everything had to be forced in. I had to stop listening sometimes because too much and not enough seemed to be happening at the same time. An example of a moment that really threw me off -- at one point, things start moving with no one else around, and Artemis starts to wonder if the house that she's in is haunted. I really thought a supernatural element was going to be introduced in that moment, but it never came up again. There were just some moments like that that felt unnecessary and didn't add anything to the overall plot of the book or to the character development of Artemis or Dominic. I think the book could use just a LITTLE more polishing. Overall, I did have a fun time, though, and would still recommend this book to someone who was looking for a new historical romance author.

Artemis doesn't want a husband. She wants a benefactor to fund her girls' school. The Duke of Dartmoor offers to do so if Artemis can tame his rebellious adolescent daughter. When attraction sparks, can they keep their relationship professional?

This is smart and sensual with well-developed characters and a plot that keeps the pages turning. The audiobook was well done. I enjoyed the narrator's interpretation.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This was an engaging, witty, and delightful read. I highly recommend this read if you like steamy, witty, and engaging historical romance.

This follows Artimis who is a finishing-school teacher and secretly a gothic romance author. She has dreams to open an acedemic ladies college, which means her future does not have time or room for a husband. Dominic is a widowed Duke who has a 15 year old daughter he is desperately trying to understand. Artimis and Dominic cross paths in the London season. Artimis has an aunt who has different plans for her niece's future and Dominic needs a new wife and help with his daughter. Dominic unfortunately has been labeled "the Dastardly Duke" after his wife's death and rumors are labeling him responsible. Together, they plan a scheme to get Artimis' aunt to stop her meddling that ends up backfiring....

This had me laughing at multiple points and I found myself fully obsessed with the story from start to finish. I loved the two characters and I loved how Artimis and his daughter grew close. I listened to the audiobook and I also loved the narrator. Amy Rose Bennett is a new to me author and I am excited to pick up more from her.

Don’t you just love it when the male main character in a historical romance supports his love interest’s intelligence and aspirations? I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.

The Dastardly Duke, Dominic Winters, falsely accused of murdering his first wife and subsequently maligned by the ton, returns to society in search of a wife to continue his line and to become a mother to his fifteen-year-old daughter.

Artemis Jones, twenty-nine-year-old former finishing-school teacher and pseudonym-shielded Gothic romance novelist, returns to London for the season with plans to find a patron for the ladies’ academic school that she would like to create and to assist her sister in securing a husband and her dear friend in avoiding acquiring one.

Artemis and Dominic have instant chemistry but differing end goals. Can their plans align for at least a little while?

This one is good for fans of dual POV, the engagement of convenience trope, single dad love interests, and open door historical romance. It contains romance, friendship, and action.

I enjoyed the audiobook narration; 1.75x was the perfect speed for me. I found myself driving around in my car listening with a goofy grin on my face.

I received an advance listening copy from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

Loved everything about this book. Jane Austen's writing style with a bit more spice, Amy Rose Bennett is fantastic. The plot is well thought through, enticing, and captivating. The perfect audiobook when you're off work sick for a few days and don't have the attention span to read. There were quite a few instances with the sound where I could tell there was an issue with the autotune but this didn't take away from the book itself.

Artemis dreams of opening a college for women. Her aunt wants her to marry. She devises a plan. Dominic, the Duke of Dartmoor, is just the person. After his wife's mysterious death, he has a reputation. While Dominic agrees to Artemis's scheme, he has alternate plans of his own.

I really liked the fact that Artemis was so independent and progressive for the era. Dominic was very supportive and also progressive.

The audiobook narrator, Sasha Higgins, is not someone I'm familiar with. It took a while to pair her voice with the book- Artemis is 29 and the book is set in 1858. The narrator's voice sounds young and is breathy. After a bit, I got used to it. It just took a few for me to stop noticing what seemed like a mismatched pairing.

I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first historical romance and it was so enjoyable! Thank you so much to the publisher for giving me a copy for an honest review.

Artemis is the type of bad ass female character I like to see. She has such a spirit and a forwardness about her. She is intelligent and determined.

Dominic is lost and disconnected. He’s progressive yet gullible and closed minded.

The two have instant chemistry and attraction. I couldn’t stop reading, I loved these two together!

This is a engagement of convenience and it’s so good. It’s a quick read. I can’t wait for the next installment!
