"Alright, so I just finished diving into 'Hottie on Her Shelf' by Christi Barth, and let me tell you, it was a total blast! This book hooked me from the get-go with its quirky characters and laugh-out-loud moments. The chemistry between the main characters? Off the charts!

Barth has a knack for seamlessly blending humour and romance, making it a fun and light-hearted read. Plus, the setting? Charming! I felt like I was right there in the small town, rooting for the characters every step of the way.

Sure, it has its predictable moments, but sometimes you need a feel-good romance to lift your spirits, right? Overall, 'Hottie on Her Shelf' is a delightful read that'll leave you with a big smile. I recommend picking this one up for your next cozy read!"

The story was was longer than it needed to be. I did not feel the chemistry between the two main characters. I was very easily bored with the story.

The story was cute. Was it something I would read again ? No. I found it to be ok . I know some will love this but it just isn’t one that I love.

Wanted to love this book.
I love the premise. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite sub genres but this one felt like it was missing some spark. I just didn’t love it.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

A great read if you're looking for an enemies to lovers, small town romance with lots of witty, literary banter, fun characters, and a story about the importance of friendships. Unexpected feelings, two families with secrets, both families with expectations that require discretion and loyalty add layer and zest to a great storyline. Discovering your family needs reinforcement makes your world stronger, and in this story there are so many reminders that you can't fix the past but you can control your future.

When Hallie Scott is nomiated to run for Swan Cove Mayer she doesn't know whether to love or hate her dear friend. The town librarian now needs to run a campaign but isn't exactly sure how to accomplish said task. If she wants to beat the town mayor she's going to have to learn everything about the job and all the ways he hasn't fulfilled his promises. There's just one little, tiny problem, she can stop thinking about the mayor, thoughts she shouldn't have whenever she's around him.

Fitz will have to strategize a new plan if he's going to campaign to keep his job and explore his feelings with Hallie. It seems the town librarian has a strong friend group who is convinced she's the perfect candidate for the job. The attraction is super hot and the heat sizzles when these two are near each other. I love a good campaign race and Fitz and Hallie will help us learn more about Swan Cove, the legacy and the residents.

If Hallie can find a way to run a clean campaign she might have what it takes to bring Sawn Cove into the future, and win the race. Fitz is ready to take control of his own life and stop doing things just because of his name. Will the Montgomery's finally find someone to beat them at their own game?

Can Fitz and Hallie keep their feelings off the record while they run their campaign? Or, will they take a chance and trust each other and possibly become lovers? Further research and exploration will be necessary and if anyone can find the answers to all of those burning questions it's the town librarian and the current mayor.

Secrets with deep pockets run Swan Cove, and unfortunately not everyone is a fan of the Montgomery's or can be trusted. Both Fitz and Hallie will discover that not everyone believes in democracy but if they can find a way to work together the town may benefit from what they both have to contribute.

I loved this story, the town and the residents that make Swan Cove a great bookcation.

I love a good paranormal romance and Christi Barth delivers just that with this whitty, steamy fun romance.

I absolutely loved this book. It hooked me and kept me turning pages until I was done. Finished it in two days! The character development was strong, and the premise was unique enough that it didn't feel like anything else I've read.

This was such a cute rom com, the banter was hilarious, I literally couldn't stop reading! Fitz was the typical MMC, kinda arrogant and certain of the fact that he's be the next mayor. But nope, enter Hallie, the slightly chaotic local librarian who has no idea what she's doing running for mayor. Their chemistry was so adorable, Christi Barth is definitely an author to watch out for.

Hottie on Her Shelf by Christi Barth surprised me in many ways. What I imagined would be just another light and fluffy romance actually featured a compelling storyline, laugh out loud moments, but most importantly - incredibly relatable and lovable characters. As a fellow woman on the edge of her 30s, I found myself really identifying with Hallie: trying desperately to hang onto the structure and order of my life while watching the world pass me by.

This was a well-paced and fun, quick read but I have found myself thinking about this one a lot in the months since I initially read it. It inspired me to lean into the seemingly random happenstances of my life and really enjoy the chaos of the universe as it may serve me exactly what I need to grow. I loved the development of the characters and watching them fall in love. The story blossomed right alongside them, resulting in a book as unique as it's protagonist.

This Enemies to Lovers was fun but not everything I had hoped for. The MMC was lovely and I enjoyed him so much. But the FMC was frustrating and made this real fall short for me. This was entertaining, but overall dragged and felt too slow and repetitive by the time I got to the finish line.

Overall quick read, witty banter, cute storyline. Probably more like a 3.5 than a 3. Points off for a lack of major chemistry & I think the author leaned a little too far into the “I’m a bookworm, I’m not pretty, no one likes me for anything else” thing for Hallie.

I liked Everett, but it was a bit tough to feel connected to and keep Hallie’s friends straight.

Thank you NetGalley for the fun ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved the writing in this book, I did find that some parts were dragged out. I always love when there is a fellow book nerd in the novel itself but some parts felt excessive about it.

I think that their romance was well layered but it for me it was missing something. The enemies to lovers and opposites attract is very well done, but my favorite parts of the romance are the small moments and if there were more of those I think I would’ve been more intrigued in their romance.

Overall, I loved the banter and the friend group aspect so I recommend it if people are searching for a fun read !

Thank you NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and Christi Barth for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hottie on Her Shelf, to sum it up, is a rivals to lovers romance. Fitz Montgomery is the incumbent mayor of Swan Cove, but Hallie Scott doesn't think he does a great job. So, as a birthday surprise, her best friend signed her up to run against Fitz as the next mayor. Although they are running against each other and are supposed to be rivals, they can't but help having sparks.

The main characters, Hallie and Fitz, were cute. They've got the chemistry there; Fitz was so whipped for Hallie. Not that Hallie was any different. I love Hallie's vast vocabulary, made me learn a word or two. Sometimes, I was clueless on what the hell she was talking about though because the words were too big for my tiny brain. I'm sorry *cries*.

Fitz's parents were... unbearable. Whenever they appeared, I couldn't help but just roll my eyes. Like holy crap, shut up! They were pretty much the characters I hated the most. Not only for the way they treated Hallie, but also for the way they treat Fitz, their own son! He deserved better.

The other characters were alright. Considering it was mostly Fitz and Hallie anyway, the others didn't stand out that much to me. Some scenes, for me, didn't make sense and were just a bit repetitive.

I like the way it ended, it was short and sweet. And they found out who won together, alone. Which made it absolutely perfect. Overall, this one book gets 3.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This book was....cute. It took me a significantly long time to read, which was unfortunate because I really wanted to like it, but it just fell a little short for me. It had all of the makings of a really cute political-based book, but it just felt a little difficult for me to read. I can't even pinpoint the part of the book that was so difficult for me to read, other than the relationship between the two main characters felt really rushed (to me) and both of them felt really bullheaded/stubborn at times, so it doesn't seem fair that I didn't like it as much as other books that are similar. But alas, this book was just not quite my jam. It was cute, it is easy enough to read, but it is going to live on my shelf since I don't think it is one I am going to want to pick up again. 2.5/5

This was a really fun romcom with lovable characters and a firece competition and I absolutely loved reading it. If you are looking for a fun story with lots of quirky characters and fun banter then you will love this story,

In this book we meet Librarian Hallie who just turned 30 and after a night out, decides to sign her up to run for mayor. Fitz is the longtime mayor in Swan Cove. When Hallie decides to run against him, he welcomes competition and offers to help her out and lots of hijinks and shenanigans occur.

This was a slow burn romance but was filled with a really fun town and election and characters I grew to love.

It has been a while since I have read one of Christi Barth's delightful books.. I love her breezy writing style, endearing characters, pleasant banter and amusing plots. In this book, she was laser focused on the two main characters, librarian Hallie Scott and mayor Fitz Montgomery. Hallie grew up in the poorer town of Crow Harbor as opposed to the wealthier one across the river, Swan Cove. Her parents encouraged her to excel so she could do better than they. Isn't that what every parent wants? And they also gave her unconditional love. She graduated with an MA and was hired as the head librarian in Swan Cove. Fitz Montgomery is the scion of the wealthiest family in Swan Cove. A Montgomery has always been mayor and has always run unopposed. The problem is the Fitz hates the job, but allows family loyalty to rule his life. On her 30th birthday, Hallie's best friend Megan added her name to the ballot. Not something that Hallie is at all comfortable with, but on the way to remove her name, she overhears a very condiscending conversation about her, and decides not only will she run, but win. The problem is not only does she have no skills for campaigning, but as she gets to know him, she finds that she REALLY likes Fitz, and the feeling is mutual. Can they carry on a secret affair without anyone getting the wiser? Will their relationship have an expiration date?

I really enjoyed reading the book and recommend it to those who like fun RomComs. I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my honest and voluntary review.
