I breezed through this book; it was such a light and fluffy read! A nice feel-good book overall.

I really enjoyed the setting of the book. The small town romance and the mayoral election. It was a fun read, however I did feel that at times it felt a little cliche and the ending was expected.

Fitz, the current mayor of the town, is a very popular and rich candidate. Our main heroine is the complete opposite and when her friend signs her up to run against Fitz she decides she will do it under the assumption that Fitz is entitled and a bad person. However, they start learning from each other and she soon realizes he is not what she expected.

I loved Fitz and the bits and pieces we got from him. The things that I didn't like mostly included Hallie and her immaturity and selfishness. I didn't really like her as a character and felt she made issues about her when they weren't about her all.

Lastly, the ending was a bit abrupt. They break up for Hallie being obnoxious and insecure and they get back together just as fast and without any real change from Hallie's end. Like it made it seem that Fitz was the one that needed to change in order for the relationship to work, but I felt that Hallie really needed to start communicating better rather than just wait for Fitz to quit following what his parents wanted for him.

I am a fan of this author and her books are usually one click for me. However, this story left me wanting. and it was predictable

My Review: Hottie on Her Shelf by Christi Barth was such a cute romance. It was funny. It was sweet. It had likable leads, and it had a number of crazy cool supporting characters. There were so many things that I appreciated about F and H. I loved their spirited banter, their penchant for word play, their undercover love story, and their friendship and mutual support of one another. They met in such a unique and memorable way (which was priceless). They faced incredible challenges (even as they chose to join forces). At the end of it all, they found something wonderful (yea for the HEA).

I did not write a review, because I could not get into this.. I don’t know what it was exactly but I unfortunately couldn’t finish it. That’s not to say it was bad, just not my thing apparently

Let's be honest, I'll read any bookish romance so I was so intrigued to see that Hottie On Her Shelf featured a librarian heroine!

This was such a fun read with lots of small town quirks and fast banter. Hallie and Fitz had a buzzy connection from their first meeting and I loved seeing them work together. I really appreciated that the author allowed Fitz to be a supportive and kind force for Hallie as she took on her first political campaign. This was a fast read with family secrets, swoony romance scenes, and a charming small town!

I received ARC of this book in a exchange for a honest review. So here it is, this book was not good. The promise of book made it sound like this was gonna be a fun, interesting and light read toped with a sweet romance with enemies to lovers trope. I am sad to say that this book did not deliver.
Writing style made reading it difficult. Usage of big fancy words didn't make the MC sound smart, it only made it look like the author was trying too hard to push MC into a tidy little box of what most people think librarians are like. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only way the author pushed the MC into that box, she did it in many ways, and it wasn't fun, it was boring. We all know the librarians are super cool and fun and have various types of personalities and not just the nerdy know it all type the MC here is presented as.
Next to difficult and boring writing style we got characters that had basic romance book personalities. There was no real chemistry between the MC and her love interest, and while they were always claiming they were alike, truth couldn't be further from that. Ergo, the romance felt forced and even though this book could've (should have) been 150 pages shorter, rushed.
And finally, the whole main plot missed the mark. I really expected a fun take on a mayor campaign and elections, but what this book gave us made me even less invested in this book and its characters.
I am sad to say this, but this book is one of the worst books I've ever read. I wanted to give this book better ratings, but there was nothing that I could base that on.
This could have been a good book with characters with more original personalities, less meaningless scenes and a lot more of chemistry between the MC and her love interest.
Would not recommend.

This was a really cute small town rom-com. Good character development, interesting story line. It looks like this is the first in a series, so I will definitely be checking out the rest when they are published!

Librarian Hallie challenges Fitz Montgomery for the job of mayor. The opponents both realize there is sizzle between them. Fitz’s family “runs” the town and this run is a chance for him to become his own man. Hallie begins to put forth a real challenge to Fitz. Find out who wins the mayor’s race.

I enjoyed this book and for the record I could see this book becoming a hallmark movie. I give this book a 3.75/5.

I love a fun romcom, especially in the summer. This light read would be a perfect book to toss in your bag for a beach read! Witty banter, enemies to lovers, and a smalltown political race. Oooo, and the main character is a librarian! It's in the same fun category as movies like You've Got Mail and Speechless.

A loveable five-star read that you would run for. This just sucked me in, and made me desperate to visit Swan cove, even if it is just to bop the older Montgomery on the nose. Fitz wouldn’t get a bop, he would get a boop instead, and a big snuggle as he is just such a charmer. I enjoyed Hallie, even when she was reserved, she still came out of herself and fought for her town and for that she deserves all the praise. Its just a warm and happy all round great read, that everyone needs to read, for some flirty and fun reading.

I thought this book was cute. The characters had depth, and it was nice to see how everything turned out in the end. I really wasn’t sure which way it was going to go, so I appreciate that it wasn’t super predictable. I would say there is an overuse of impressive and formal vocabulary, and I get that she’s a librarian and is well read, but it still doesn’t seem realistic. Otherwise overall a good read!

A cute, small-town rom-com with strangers to work competitors to lovers trope.

This book is based on our two main characters; Hallie, the head librarian at Swan Cove, and Fitz, the mayor of Swan Cove. Since Fitz has been running for mayor, he has not had another candidate running against him, partly due to his family name. The Montgomery family owns or has shares in the majority of businesses in Swan Cove, generations of Montgomery have been mayor of said town. They pretty much have the power of Swan Cove.
Hallie's best friend Megan, after a drunk night out on Hallie's 30th Birthday, decides to put Hallie's name on the list to run for mayor.

This book was super cute and fun. Definitely a sucker for small-town romances. The relationship between Hallie and Fitz was so adorable and the way they understood each other and bonded over their individual likes - swoon-worthy. Definietly a quick read, so I recommend this to any one who wants to read a short cute small town rom-com.

Ok so this book was super sweet.
Love how confident Hallie grew throutout the book and the way Fitz helped her and everyone else by his selfless self.
Their banter at the beggining was adorable and how their relationship evolved was really cute! Loved the ending so much.

This is a cute rom com where two characters Hallie, a local librarian and the current mayor Fitz are pitted against each other for the position to mayor of Swan Cove.
Hallie strongly believes that she can do better than the current mayor named Fitz Montgomery. She declared that one drunken night with her best friend. But seeing that Hallie is a talker and not a doer, her friend decided to put her name on the upcoming mayoral ballot.
The mayoral position was always held by a Montgomery (AKA Fitz’s family legacy) for generations. No one else has ever gotten the position before. It has always been a Montgomery. Hallie had wanted to prove to herself, her family, the citizens and the snobs of Swan Cove that she is capable of the job.
As Fitz and Hallie start doing local campaigns, they start to get to know one another and realize that they are not what they appear to be. There are a lot of classic literary references from Hallie since she loves to read and is the librarian.
You see Hallie makes a few mistakes in her campaign and works hard to better understand what it could be like being a mayor. Also, you see Fitz also start to figure out who he is as himself and what he wants, not what his family name forces him to be.
Because they are campaigning against each other, Fitz and Hallie had to hide their relationship once they fell for one another. Even though no one really outed them, it seems like the whole town had their suspicions anyways. Basic cute small town romance.
Although that Hottie on Her Shelf is a good story and I find the romance super cute. I personally found that at 60% through, the romance aspect of it took a back seat and wasn’t the focus anymore. It felt like the pace of the story came to a screeching halt and slowed the story considerably. The focus shifted to the characters' growth, their families and politics more so than the romance itself. Which to me, was a drain on the rom com.
Regardless, even though this isn’t a 100% for me, I felt like this was a cute read and I really enjoyed the story.

This book was just not for me. The style of writing is all over the place, the sentence structure is odd and the characters have no chemistry. The "best friends" feel like they have known each other for a day and have no knowledge of the others ife, the main couple is not connected at all. The author keeps TELLING us how they are so similar almost the same but they are not. MC is so judgmental, snobbish and just so mehh. It almost feels like how many thesaurus words can I shove in a book before people start getting a headache. I get trying to make her super smart and read but this was a fail to me.

This was a fun, romantic read! Loved the characters and the sweet, hot story! I always enjoy reading enemies to lovers stories. Five stars from me!

If you want a light, sweet read this is a book for you. Hottie on Her Shelf is about a young woman named Hallie who unexpectedly ends up running adjust the current mayor, Fitz, for the position of mayor of their small town. Through all the arguing & bantering they end up falling for each other but certain circumstances hold them back from pursing the relationship they want. She’s a librarian who likes to blend in with her books and he’s a rich boy raised to carry the family name & legacy..

this was a quick romantic enemies- to - lovers story although the “enemies” part was mostly one sided & kind of forced. The back and forth between the two will keep a small smile on your face & will have you wishing there was more.

Despite that fact that I general don’t like the POV told in the third person I enjoyed the book.
