This book never really pulled me in, but I thought it was cute. I was just wanting more from this one.

Hottie on Her Shelf was a cute read, sort of an enemies-to-lovers type trope. I loved the banter and friendly competition between Hallie and Fitz, their characters had a lot of depth and vivid background stories. I also feel like my vocabulary grew even within the first few chapters - thank god for that kindle feature.

I did enjoy their love story, I just wished there was more of it and more vivid spicy scenes. It felt a little rushed and abrupt throughout those scenes and at the very end. All in all would still recommend for a fun, quick read!

Hottie on Her Shelf is a fun Rom Com featuring Hallie a just turned thirty small town librarian. Who thanks to a drunken conversation with her best friend Megan gets nominated to run for Mayor against current Mayor and prominent local Fitz.
Who is beyond happy to have some competition at last, as he's sick of his status as a Montgomery affording him the luxury of the mayorship.

But Hallie has no clue what she's doing. So to even the playing field, Fitz thinks it's only fair to help her. But can it really be a fair fight if one opponent is helping the other?

And with two characters who have nothing in common (They can't even decide which are better ebooks or paperbacks.) chaos ensues. As well as plenty of sparks as the pair banter and constantly challenge each other.

And with a nice message of friendship and honour, characters that grow and a well-developed storyline. This was an engaging read. That was only let down by an ending that felt rushed and a little flat.

What she got was a hangover and her best friend telling her she’s running for mayor. Hallie is on her way to take her name off the ballot, when a run-in with the current mayor, charming, golden boy Fitz Montgomery, changes her mind. The Montgomerys practically own the town, but Fitz Montgomery wants to be seen as more than just his name. So he’s looking forward to some competition for mayor. And if that competition happens to be a woman that makes him laugh and feel like enough outside of the campaign, then let the competition begin.

This was such a fun romcom! The premise was interesting and a fun take on a small town romance that I haven’t read before. The pacing and writing were good. Great characters, both main and secondary. The romance was delightful. I loved how Fitz and Hallie didn’t let the mayoral campaigning get in the way of their budding romance. But the aspect of the budding romance did make for some enjoyable moments while they were campaigning. A great book to put a smile on your face and give you some swoony feels.

If you’re looking for a romcom set in a small town with loveable characters, witty banter, and some friendly competition then pick this book up!

Hottie on Her Shelf is a fun, sexy, but sweet contemporary romance. It pretty much perfectly encapsulates what I’m looking for in a romcom of this nature.
The fact that Hallie is a librarian was a big draw for me. The fact that she’s just turned thirty and is already the head librarian requires a bit of suspension of disbelief, but hey, maybe the library’s internal politics in this small town allowed for it in a way an urban or suburban library wouldn’t. *shrugs* I also like that this puts her in a unique position to want to create change in her town, even if she wasn’t ambitious about politics on a higher scale until her friend signed her up for the upcoming election.
Fitz is definitely one of those characters you could dislike, as he shares qualities with many wealthy people in politics, including coming from a political dynasty, not to mention the fact that his family is wealthy. But he has self-awareness of his privilege many of his real-life counterparts lack, and a conscience that allows him to want to run his campaign fairly. Not to mention he may be allowing his attraction to Hallie to influence him, and what that means for his place within his family’s legacy.
I liked the dynamic between them, and how easily things developed from them being somewhat at odds to them coming to terms with each other. They’re opposites in a lot of ways, and I love how they challenge each other and help each other grow throughout the story.
I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to anyone who likes contemporary romance.

This is a fun book about a librarian who finds herself in an unusual situation because of a night of drinking for her birthday, and although her idea is to get out of this mess as quickly as possible, she decides to do the opposite and show everyone that she is capable of achieving whatever she sets her mind to.

There were some moments where I was a little confused by the way the book was developing and sometimes I felt that Hallie used a lot of big words and although I understand why she did it, sometimes she did it at times when it wasn't necessary and I ended up a little confused trying to understand what she wanted to express.

However, there were several moments when I was laughing a lot because of the battles between the main characters, or the moments when Fitz was extremely cute every time he showed how much attention he paid to everything Hallie said.

I really wanted to love this one. There were some likeable moments between the 2 main characters and some memorable quotes but otherwise this was a hard one for me to finish. The h is a librarian and her character felt forced. As though big words were thrown in wherever possible to prove she's a librarian and reads a lot. The H doesn't want his job but doesn't not want it either. He's sweet and there were quite a few swoony moments between them but it was very much an insta love/lust situation with a few decent banter moments. It felt like we needed to connect more with the side characters but something was missing in those interactions as well. Overall I am glad I finished it but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for.

I really, really, enjoyed this book! Both main characters are lovable and during the book, we see them growing and evolving. The plot itself was also nice, all-do a little predictable, but I was OK with that! Fitz and Hallie had some really nice banter which I appreciate! They talked and debated and had fun poking each other, but they also made each other feel safe about the insecurities each of them had. I felt that they were really made for each other! They fit perfectly! There were also Fitz's issues with his family, which can be so relatable to many people. The other characters were also very loveable. I felt that the end was a little rushed, I felt that there was more to right instead of rushing it. Also, they were never enemies? There was a one-sided rivalry, with no justification whatsoever on Hallie’s part.

This book was such a fun read and a great summer escape. Hallie finds herself running for town mayor against Fitz, the latest in a family tradition of mayors. What follows is a whirlwind! The romance seemed to fall into place quicker than I expected, but I surprisingly didn't mind. Thank you so much for this ARC!

This was a fun read about a librarian who is settled into her life, loves her job, loves books and is content. That is until her friend adds Hallie's name to the small-town mayoral ballot.

Hallie must run against Fitz whose parents own most of the little town. It's basically Fitz's birthright to be mayor (he comes from a long line of mayors).

Overall, Fitz is a good mayor. He's interested in the citizens, he likes seeing projects through, but he's still missing something - not just a serious girlfriend, but a career other than being mayor.

This starts off as an enemies-to-lovers and within a quarter into the book they are lovers. This was my only issue with the book.

They got together too quick and they wanted to help each other with their campaigns - which seemed odd, but doable. However, the conflict enemies-to-lovers plot was lost. Because they were together quickly, the mayoral race was a bit of a boring subplot.

I enjoyed their chemistry and HOTTIE ON HER SHELF is worthy of a relaxing weekend read.

Super cute story about a librarian who is "forced" to run for mayor. Loved the banter between Hallie and Fitz. An enemies-to-lovers romcom featuring a librarian. I am here for this. Although I wish there was more with the ending. I needed an epilogue.

What a quick and fun read! Hallie and Fitz were a truly adorable couple. I was hoping for more of a slow burn to go with the enemies to lover trope, but all in all this book was sweet and had some steamy moments. I look forward to reading future books from this author.

This was a fun read for me! It was quick with an interesting premise. I didn't get a strong enemies to lovers vibe, but the banter had me giggling along. I enjoyed the character development, but was a bit perturbed with the male lead for a majority of the story. I also didn't feel that the title of this book fit the actual story (she's a librarian, sure, but there's so much more to the content than that).

I gave this a solid 3-star (that means I liked it!), but I wouldn't go back and reread it. It did garner a 3/5 spicy pepper rating.

This book is a fresh take on a romantic comedy romance. I really liked that the story not only focused on the romance of the characters but also on the political side of a small town. There were some great points made about political changes and issues without being overbearing on the story itself. I also really enjoyed the banter of the two main characters, with them being "rivals" it made it interesting to see how they interacted with one another. As a book lover, this story tugged at my heart strings and made me care for each character in different ways.

Hallie, librarian and small town resident, reads as an ode to book lovers, which may be why I loved this book so much, being a book lover myself. Her friend puts her on the ballot to challenge incumbent mayor Fitz in the upcoming weekend, and there is an immediate connection between the two. What I loved so much about this story is probably how good a person Fitz is. All the opportunities to go low and he only goes high. And the character development for Hallie as well. It was just such an enjoyable read. A perfect beach read for me this summer!

Hallie's a a librarian who absolutely loves her job in the small town of Swan Cove. For Hallie's birthday, her best friend signs Hallie up to run for mayor, pitting her against the current mayor whose family has held this position for generations. However, their rivalry quickly turns to romance during the race once Hallie and Fitz start getting to know each other better.

This book was okay but I don't think it was really for me. I didn't fully connect with the characters and I found myself spacing out a lot while trying to read it. It was pretty cute every so often but bevause I never really got invested in the race or Hallie and Fitz's relationship, it was hard to stay engaged at times.

Not the best romance I’ve read, also not the worst. Idea for the storyline is really cute. There’s some really great lines throughout the book.

Some references I didn’t understand.
Some parts are wordy/rambly (a couple times at the end I spaced out, once I noticed, I just kept reading and don’t feel like I missed anything).

Overall relationship seemed rushed. Timeline is only a month long, but the connection between Hallie and Fitz was there- it just needed to be focused on more.

Page count seems high considering the contents of the story (again a little rambly).

Didn’t feel like there was a big climax to the story, could have been better. The ending is super super cheesy.

I did get through this pretty quick. It was a light read (straightforward, minimal brain power needed).

Hallie is a 30 year old women and is the small town's librarian. What to do you get a women for her birthday? Apparently putting in their name to run for mayor is perfect gift according to her friend. Hallie is this intelligent and bright lady who sees this as a perfect opportunity to help the town improve. The issue is she was not born in this town and her component, the current mayor, is a Montgomery. A Montgomery is always mayor and they own almost everything in this town. Fitz is only seen for his last name and his worth. But he is much more than that. When he meets Hallie all he wants to do his help her. He sees someone who is the best candidate and who could be the best mayor for this town. Hallie is unsure on what Fits intentions are and it hard for her to trust him.

I liked seeing how their characters developed, seeing how they dealt with some shady characters and some newly discovered secrets. A big part of the story was the support of their friends, which I loved. Overall, a really good story!
