This book was bit of a slow burner however the ending well and truly made up for it. Will definitely be looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Kate has never recovered from the day her baby sister was presumed drowned in a terrible accident years ago , constantly searching for answers and it’s affecting her marriage and her young daughters, when she receives a text from someone that tells her they know what happened to baby Jess she convinces her husband that a family holiday where it happened is just what she needs to put the ghost to rest .
Her decision puts herself and her family in the crosshairs of a whole village who all seem to have something to hide and some are more dangerous than others . Another brilliant stand alone from Carla . 5 stars

Wow, what a suspenseful, tense ride. Kate is a woman who can't get past the disappearance of her sister 25 years ago while her family was on holiday. She was a small child who went off with her mother to get an ice cream and when they got back her baby sister Jess was gone. Her drunk father slept through the whole thing. Did her sister fall into the sea and drown? Or was she abducted? Kate has let this horrible event dominate her, and is extremely over-protective and fearful for the safety of her two young daughters. She has a facebook page devoted to her sister and on the 25th anniversary of the disappearance there is a message from someone saying they know what happened. Kate convinces her husband to take a week long holiday to that same seaside town without telling him about the message and her intention to look into the disappearance further. She is deceiving her husband while sneaking around the town and he gets fed up and leaves her. I wanted to yell at Kate so many times but she was a sympathetic character and I had to find out what would happen.

Although this is the second book in a series you don’t need to read the first one to enjoy this book. I would say this is a light mystery. The characters are likable and the story is enjoyable! If you find you like this book, you should go back and read the first one!

This was another ARC I had the pleasure of reading! I’m little behind on my review (it came out on Tuesday!) but I wanted to post something.

I have very mixed feelings about this book👀 Overall, it was well written and easy to read. It took place in the UK, which makes reading so fun with their different terms for things than we say in America.

On the other hand, I felt like there were too many characters to keep straight. I understand using multiple characters increases the concept of deception in psychological thrillers like this, but I wish the author had re-introduced the characters when they weren’t discussed recently to make sure the readers can remember who they were and their significance to the story.

I enjoyed getting two different perspectives through the dual POV. However, and this could TOTALLY just be a me-thing, but I don’t like when there are dual POVs but one character’s chapters is in first person, while the other character is in third. To me, I feel like the storyline should just be told by a narrator🤷🏻‍♀️

I definitely enjoyed trying to solve this puzzle of a storyline and although I was close to figuring it out, it did end up having a different ending than I expected.

Maybe I’ve read too many thrillers and am now picky🫣🤣 so take my review with a grain of salt!

FIND ME is a stand-alone gripping psychological thriller by Carla Kovach, author of the Detective Gina Harte series. Having read and enjoyed The Detective Gina Harte series, I was anxious to read my second book from her stand-alone novels.

Her Stand-Alone Novels Include:
Flame (2013)
To Let (2014)
Whispers Beneath the Pines (2014)
What She Did (2021)
Find Me (2022)
The Houseshare (2022)

This is my review of Find Me.

A little girl, Jess had gone missing.

Twenty-five years later, sister Kate and her husband, Damien, will always remember her missing sister, Tess., with love. Kate pays tribute on her Facebook page to Tess. People think Tess fell into the sea. She was never found.

And because of the past Kate is now a overprotective mother, that keeps her kids, four-year old Millie, and five year old Rosie, on a tight leash, and doesn’t trust anyone, and the kids barely have any friends.

Damien feels that they need to move on as a family, and find closure to Kate’s loss. Kate keeps her sister’s memory alive.

Then someone sent a message to Jess’s Facebook account from Will Wilcox, with the notation…
“I Know What Happened to Your Sister.”

Now everything had changed and Kate had to find out the truth. Now, Kate was a step closer to getting answers to the questions she needed to find out.

As she drives her young family to the seaside town to meet the mystery messenger, she feels uneasy. Who are they and why did they reach out now?

Then Kate receives one final, alarming message… that will put her and her family in danger.

This is a well-written standalone psychological crime thriller where the suspense level increases until the astonishing twist at the end. This psychological thriller will have you hooked from the very first page.

Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for my digital copy.

This story starts out slow but picks up quickly. Lots of twists, had me guessing a couple of times but was definitely a page turner.

I’ll never forget that day. It was blisteringly hot, and I begged our mother for an ice cream. As we left you with Dad, I didn’t know it would be the last time I saw your face. Minutes later, we returned to the end of the pier where we had parked your pushchair. Dad was asleep on a bench, and your little pink blanket was empty. You had vanished.

Twenty-five years later. The morning of the anniversary of Jess’s disappearance starts like every other for her sister Kate – a rushed school run, a cold cup of coffee and a quick scan of the news for updates. But when her phone beeps with a message from an unknown number, everything changes.

I know what happened to Jess.

Finally, Kate’s a step closer to getting answers to the questions that have tormented her for so long. Why was her mother so angry that day? How did her father sleep through his own daughter’s abduction? And when the police car came screeching towards the pier, how is it that nobody saw a single thing?

As she drives her young family to the seaside town to meet the mystery messenger, she feels uneasy. Who are they and why did they reach out now? But before Kate finds out, history repeats itself and her world is turned upside down once more.

Then Kate receives one final, terrifying message… will her pursuit of the truth cost the lives of everyone she has ever loved?

This is a gripping physcological thriller that gave me all the feels, in the beginning I was hooked until about half way through, I lost interest because it dragged out a bit too much for my liking. The storyline is very interesting. Thank you netgalley and bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
My rating ⭐⭐ ⭐ 3/5

I really love Carla Kovach but there's nothing new there, so of course I was so excited to read Find Me.

Kate will never forget the day that happened 25 years earlier, her baby sister Jess went missing during a family holiday in Cornwall. When her hat was found in the water it was presumed she was dead. However until Kate finds a body she's not willing to say her sister is dead. Her obsession with Jess is affecting her work, relationships and how she parents. So when she gets a message on her Facebook dedicated to finding her sister she managers to convince her husband to take a family holiday to Cornwall so she can say bye finally to her baby sister, the problem is she has no idea whose messaging her and when things start getting weird she's worried she could be in damager.

Kate is our protagonist and i was in two minds about her, at first i think i was fully committed to the cause, she doesn't want to give up the search for her sister. She was a child when she was kidnapped but she feels guilty because she had enjoyed being the only child for so many years. But as the book progressed i felt a bit like is it worth it? Anyhow most of the book is following Kate and i found the fast pace of the story kept me engaged and throughout the book. I wanted to know what the truth was and who knew what. The way the small village in Cornwall is described is so true to life, everyone knows everyone and everyone's business. We therefore we're set up for the different barriers to be present throughout the story and boyyyy there were several.
Kate's relationship with her loved ones was clearly impacted by Jess' disappearance, she mollycoddle's her children, pulls away from her husband and broke apart from her father. It's very interesting because of how young she would of been when this happened, I don't know if I would be obsessed still 25 years later but who knows. Her kids for example aren't allowed in the sea as they were on a boot when jess was presumed to have her accident.

I really felt myself on the edge of my seat throughout most of the story, the way the tension is built up is insane!!! I kept questioning absolutely everyone and I half guessed the ending but even that was barely correct. I honestly found the twists and turns to be amazing!!! This is why i love Carla Kovach and the way she writes because honestly the descriptions, the way the moos is set and the detail put into the scenery as well as each character is amazing. I loved the chapters also which weren't narrated by Kate what did they know????

Honestly I could sit her all day and tell you how much I enjoyed this book but the best option is for you to read it yourselves, promise you if you like her crime series or authors like C.L Taylor, M.K Farrar, Adele Parks i promise you this is the next book for your TBR list! I often can work out how thrillers will end and lets say I was well off. 3/5 stars.

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Carla Kovach for the digital ARC of Find Me in exchange for my fair and honest opinions.

I am a huge fan of this author so instantly this is one I was desperately wanting to read. This hasn’t disappointed and I can safely say this is another absolute gem.

This is a book filled with mystery and tension. I found myself pulled in very quickly which left me completely unable and unwilling to put this down.

Kate has been frustrating. I don’t find myself getting annoyed at characters often but my god have I wanted to throttle her on times. It’s been really easy to understand the husband’s frustration with her.

This is an unpredictable and extremely well written book. It flows well and as a reader you find yourself completely unwilling to put this down. This is a well-plotted book which will really lure you in and keep you hostage until the very last page.

There have been moments where I have felt my pulse race. The twists and turns throw you completely making this a rollercoaster read. I wish I could experience this as a first time read all over again.

This book is such compulsive reading that I read it in a day!

Baby Jess disappears in what seems to be a tragic accident, so why is her sister Kate still searching for the truth about what happened?

When she receives a message it seems as though someone does indeed know the truth.

The story is told from multiple points of view and there are so many suspects. A few times I thought I had it figured out but I was wrong.

I could not put this book down at all, there are so many twists and turns and secrets and it’s genuinely edge of the seat stuff.

I completely recommend this to anyone who loves a good heart-thumping and suspenseful thriller.

Today is the twenty-fifth anniversary since her sister went missing and Kate is looking at the Facebook page she set up in her memory. She posted her message. Before work, she got a message that read, ‘I know what happened to Jess.’ She sent a friend request and fired off a message to the sender asking for more details and thought of nothing else all day. She could remember bits of that day that Jess went missing and her mum had filled her in with some bits as well but there was still the burning question, what did really happen to Jess? Did she drown? Was she taken?

Her father had been asleep on the bench when he was supposed to be taking care of her. Later, she saw the article written by the Cornish paper which had contacted her dad about the anniversary and he had given an interview where he had taken the blame for Jess going missing. Kate was upset they hadn’t got in touch with her. Kate receives another message saying they will only speak to her in person so she works out a plan to go to Looe with the family for a few days over the half-term holiday. She even books the same cottage she stayed in as a child.

When she gets to Looe, they love the cottage. When they go to the pub for food, everyone is staring at Kate. Eventually she asks a woman why they are staring at her. Apparently they all know who she is but the woman agrees to speak to her the next day. When Kate speaks to her, she doesn’t really get that much information from her that she doesn’t already know but Kate thinks she is holding back. She tries the ice-cream shop but the woman won’t open up. She speaks to the fisherman that ran out of the pub, he rambles on, not really saying anything and gives an excuse for running out of the pub and says he will see them in the morning for the fishing trip they have booked.

When Damian and Kate fall out the next day, Kate decides to go to Polperro to see the cave. When she finally reaches the cave, she has to use her phone torch to light up inside the cave but still doesn’t see much, then there is a beep and her phone dies. Leaving her in darkness. She hears a shuffle or movement of a foot or something before she is banged on the head and she slips to the floor, unconscious. She meets her dad in the carpark and it turns out he put a tracker on her phone when she saw him. When she gets back to the cottage, Damian won’t listen to her, just walks out to get in a taxi so Kate rings her dad. He comes to the cottage and they ring the police. When Natalie and Kate finally talk, they manage to sort some things out and Natalie says she will dig around some more for her, Kate is thankful for the help.

One morning she gets a message telling her to, ‘meet the sender by Jess’ bench at six am.’ Kate had been awake all night so got the message and got ready then sneaked out of the house without anyone knowing. She set off to the rendezvous point with a tin of beans in her bag with her phone so she could hit an attacker over the head with the tin. She stood in an alleyway by Natalie’s ice-cream shop watching the bench as the time approached and went past, they were late. No sign of anyone. Then there was an engine sound which she ignored before she was hit over the head and as she slumped down, a bag was placed over her head. She was lifted up and carried away to the car not too far away, then driven away. What they didn’t realise was, her bracelet had dropped off her wrist in the scuffle.

Who was the mystery messenger? Who was the kidnapper? Will they harm her? Will she be found?

This was a great psychological thriller to read. It was full of twists and turns throughout the book. This was a great plot and well thought out. I liked Kate’s character because of her determination to find out what had happened to her sister regardless of the outcome.

Too many various points of view, Kate was strangely fascinated with discovering the truth regarding her sister's death.

I overall really enjoyed this standalone book. As a fan of Ms. Kovach's Gina Harte series, I was interested to see what she could do in a single book. At the beginning of the book I really struggled with the main character, Kate, who was still mourning her sister 25 years after her disappearance, still holding a grudge against her father, and still incredibly paranoid about the safety of her own daughters. Admittedly I haven't been in the same position, but she is 25 years past the need for therapy and I was shocked that her husband continued to put up with the behavior. And, looking back from having finished the book, I think it could have easily been toned down because if someone sent me a note telling me they knew what happened to my baby sister, I would have been at attention regardless of my level of obsession. Once the story gets in to the mystery itself, the book becomes a lot more interesting. I loved the small town with all the interwoven secrets and how this incident had continued to impact the residents. I enjoyed how the ending was laid out and by the end of the book I had almost forgotten how annoying Kate was at the beginning. I think her husband had too!

There's a lot of books out there about parents with missing children. But what about the siblings? What if they were really young when it happened so mixed in with all the sadness and questions they also had the added complications of a child's perception of events plus the inevitable loss of memory? This is what Kate deals with every day. She just can't let go of the desire to know exactly what happened to her baby sister Jess 25 years ago. Understandably. Now she's a mother herself and stresses constantly something could happen to them. Her husband has reached breaking point. He can see her been too controlling and also running herself down. She won't let her kids out of her sight plus her never ending search takes up her time and energy. Just as she's at the point where she agrees it's time to let go she gets a message. Someone knows what happened to Jess. And they want to meet her in the seaside town Jess vanished from.

I hate to use a stereotypical review comments. But I'm going to do it anyway as I literally could not put this down. I had a good idea where it was going but Carla Kovach creates a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere which made this a gripping read. Kates sense of constantly been watched is tangible as is her desperation for answers. Kate isn't a particularly likeable character but you can still sympathise - after all if your entire life was defined by this one terrible moment wouldn't you be a bit prickly? Hell I'm unbearable if I lose my earphones, I can only imagine what I'd be like if I lost something or someone important!

A great addition to Carla Kovachs repertoire of excellent thrillers.

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author, for the review copy of this book. Ms. Kovach is one of my favorite authors. Her stories keep me entertained and glued to the pages from beginning to end. The mystery of baby Jess, what was believed to have happened compared to the real story was simply shocking. Kate was a little obnoxious at times but I also understood why and for the most part, I liked the character and felt for her. I really enjoyed the pace and resolution of this story.
