I'll never forget the day. It was blisteringly hot, and I begged our mother for an ice cream. As we left you with dad, I didn't know it would be the last time I saw your face. Minutes later, we returned to the end of the pier where we had parked your pushchair. Dad was asleep on a bench, and your little pink blanket was empty. You had vanished. Twenty five years later. The morning of the anniversary of Jess's disappearance starts like any other day for her sister Kate - a rushed school run, a cold cup of coffee and a quick scan of the news for updates. But when her phone beep with a message from an unknown number everything changes.

There's plenty going on in this well written, twist filled and at times, edge of your seat read. Kate is a three dimensional character who doesn't always make the best decisions. Filled with lots of suspects to choose from. it did take me a little while to get through the confusing different characters. Just when you think you have it all worked out, something come along to knock that idea on the head. I also loved how the story ended.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #CarlaKovach for my ARC of #FindMe in exchange for an honest review.

Love Carla Kovach as a writer and it was great to have a one off book away from the usual series. Really twisty and keeps you guessing throughout midway lots of different characters were introduced which can be a bit confusing but easy to pick up as the book progresses

Kate was a little girl on holiday with her parents and baby sister Jess, her father was left in charge of Jess while their mum and Kate went to get ice cream, in those short minutes Jess disappeared and was thought to have drowned in the sea.
Twenty-five years on, Kate still wants to find out what really happened to Jess, her body was never found. A message is sent to her telling her they know what happened to Jess and it isn’t long before Kate returns to Looe to find out the truth and finds herself risking her life in the process.
Wow! what can I say about this book? It had me on the edge of my seat, it was so intense in places. It was certainly a page-turner. There were a lot of secrets, twists and turns along the way.
I have not been to Looe myself but the description of it had me imagining it perfectly, the harbour, the shops, the cottage, the author did a fantastic job in describing it.
I must admit, I did shed a tear or two at the end. Yes, even psychological thrillers can do this!
Find Me was beautifully written, it was the first I have read from the author Carla Kovach but now I want to read all of her previous titles. Amazing!

Imagine a baby goes missing and the only haunting memory you have is one handed up through history, that of her tiny red hat found floating on top of the waves that took her small body out to sea. Find Me, what an apt title for such a graphic memory, one which I find stays with me. Twenty five years later, Kate is still plagued by her sister’s disappearance and the part she believed she played in it. A small child herself, sibling rivalry was at play, and she carries the guilt. Now married with two little ones of her own, her loss is still raw. She’s over-protective of her daughters. I think most mothers would be, having lived through such an experience. Her father, who was supposed to be watching the child, will never forgive himself either.

Kate promises her husband she will try to put it behind her, close the page dedicated to little sister Jess and move on with her life. How can she, though, when she receives messages from an unknown sender on this poignant anniversary, claiming they know what happened to Jess?

Kate can’t ignore it and she and her family are soon back in the small seaside town that Jess disappeared from, and Kate is torn. Her family believe they are here to say goodbye to Jess, but Kate can’t let go until she knows what truly happened to baby Jess. Here there is hope she will find answers. Once again the author takes us on a journey with each of the characters, all portrayed so well, you feel you are sitting right there alongside them, especially Natalie. And Harry, your heart breaks for him, a man who can never forgive himself. I have to say here that Archie was also brilliantly portrayed – the line about water babies crying at night was heartrending.

Find Me was stuffed full of twists, each one pertinent to the story, moving it along brilliantly. I was desperate towards the end to find out, who and why, and what did happen to baby Jess. And what a brilliant twist that was. Perfectly logical, but one I did not see coming. Powerful reading, Find Me is a book I would highly recommend.

I absolutely love this author and am addicted to her Gina Harte series so I was excited to read this latest stand alone Novel from her as always once you start reading a book by this author you cannot put it down and everything else goes by the way side. I was gripped from
Beginning to end and couldn’t put it down.

This had lots of shocks and twists and turns and no one was as they had originally seemed.

I am now eagerly awaiting this authors next book.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Find Me’ by Carla Kovach in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Twenty-five years ago Kate’s baby sister Jess went missing presumed drowned after being left in the less than capable hands of their father who’d had too much to drink. Kate can’t forget what happened and her husband Damian tells her she must forget the past and concentrate on giving her own children Millie and Rose the freedom they need as she won’t let them out of her sight.

I’m a great fan of the Gina Harte series and was interested in reading this standalone mystery ‘Find Me’ with high hopes of getting involved in an exciting thriller, but although the plot is interesting it all a felt a bit flat and predictable and I’ve found it hard to get involved with the main characters. I’m afraid to say that I’ve not enjoyed this book that came over as fairly mediocre, and is one of the few books that hasn’t caught my imagination from the start. Despite my thoughts on this novel, I’ll look forward to reading more from Carla Kovach and hope I haven’t read the last of Gina Harte!

It's the 25th year anniversary of the disappearance of baby Jess. Her sister Kate will stop at nothing to uncover the truth and secrets of that awful day so many years ago.

That pretty much sums it up. Kate was not my favourite character, she is overbearing with her own little girls and constantly afraid something might happen to them. I understand where she's coming from but it's been 25 years and she is still obsessed with finding out the truth and robbing her children of a normal childhood.

The premise of this story was really good and I found that the writing style was very easy to read and comprehend. There was a lot of different characters and I could easily keep up with each one.

The ending was good and had a nice little twist. I would have loved to have seen Kate's Dad in the epilogue, but I understand that we can't always get everything from an ending.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC,

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book

a different book from the series that i enjoy but i found this one very frustrating to read...have to admit not liking the character of katie, i tried so hard to like her but not really one redeeming feature...

katie once had a sister called jess.... but on holiday not long after jess was born she went missing...she was presumed dead after falling into the sea after being left with her dad who was drunk at the time...mom and katie had just gone to get an ice cream...

a haunting storyline for the family and for the whole village where it happened

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

25 years ago Kate’s baby sister disappeared. The presumption is that her drunken father fell sleep and the baby rolled out of the car seat and drowned in the sea. Kate has never given up hope and when the mysterious Will begins to message her she whisks her family away back to the scene of the disappearance and begins to investigate. The close community know what happened but nobody is speaking. Is Kate in danger?

This was a great read. I was constantly coming up with new theories only for them to be blown out the water. I never saw the ending coming. A real page turner. 5 stars.

On the morning of the 25th anniversary of Jess’s disappearance, Kate’s phone beeps with a message from an unknown number…..I know what happened to Jess.
As she drives her young family to the seaside town to meet the mystery messenger, she feels uneasy. Who are they and why did they reach out now?
Then Kate receives one final, terrifying message… will her pursuit of the truth cost the lives of everyone she has ever loved?

I am a huge fan of this author, both her series and her standalone books of which this is one.

With thanks to Netgalley,Carla Kovach and Bookouture for my chance to read and review this book.

I'm a big fan of Carla's Detective Gina Harte series so was excited to read this standalone that she had written.

However I didn't feel it was up to her usual standard and found it mediocre.

Most stories have a beginning, middle and end and the middle in this was sluggish. I felt hearing from more points of view of the characters would have made it more engaging.

Not sure if my enjoyment was lacking as I figured things out "the plot" quite quickly that I knew were it was headed so for me it was predictable nevertheless it doesn't put me off picking up a book by this author as her Detective series is superb.

Hand on heart, I read this because I’m a massive fan of the Gina Harte series by this author. Unfortunately this didn’t have the pace that I look for in this type of book. The setting is perfect, but the main character and her husband were stretching credibility by their actions. The last few chapters almost made up for it, as the revelations came thick and fast. Please write more of the Gina series.

This was a frustrating mystery. The main character Kate’s personality was exhausting. I totally emphasized with her husband Damien. At first the way Kate was behaving I thought Jess was her daughter, not her sister. The numerous love triangles became confusing as I had to keep rereading passages to keep who slept with who and who fathered which kid straight. I also don’t understand if her husband was so concerned about his wife’s behavior why he chose to leave the kids with her when he split.

Kate’s sister Jess disappeared twenty-five years ago and was presumed dead. With the anniversary lingering, Kate is consumed with thoughts of her sister and what happened that day. She now has two young daughters Rosie and Millie and is the ultimate overprotective mother. Kate created a Facebook page dedicated to the memory of her sister and on this morning she receives a message: “I know what happened to your sister”.
This message leads Kate and her family down a dangerous rabbit hole as they return to the town where it all took place.
Determined to figure out what happened to Jess, Kate attempts to meet this mystery person. Things don’t go as planned and she each message she receives becomes more alarming. What has Kate gotten herself into?

In some ways this story is repetitive. Not all the characters are sympathetic but the ending is a true surprise

Maybe it's not really fair, but I'm only giving three stars, because I was comparing it with a similar book that I was reading at the same time. Similar to the other story, this book has Kate who is overly obsessed with her younger sister's disappearance as a baby. Kate has a good husband who is running out of patience with her and continuously warns her of his impending departure if she doesn't give their two little girls the same amount of attention as she devotes to her missing sister. Kate will hardly allow them to leave home, she is that concerned that something will happen to them, too.

One day Kate receives a text telling her that the sender knows what happened to Jessie who was assumed to be drowned. Kate tricks hubby to take the family to the area in which her mother and father were vacationing when the dad took his eyes off the baby and let her disappear. The texter has given her clues that he is there.

At that point, a lot of new characters are introduced, and I had a hard time keeping track of who was who. I wasn't motivated to keep picking up the book like I was with the other. I don't recall objectionable language, so that's a plus.

A journey to find a long lost sister, a town that never forgot this missing child and couple small twists. The plot is what drew me to this book. As much as I really wanted to love it, the redundancy put in by the main character was a huge draw back to me. The story overall was good though and I would recommend giving this book a read. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

🌊Confusing and main character problematic🙁
3.5🌟 stars

This standalone psychological thriller set at the English seaside kept the mystery alive until the conclusion but just did not thrill me. I am used to the author's Gina Harte police procedurals that speed along. This one caught my eye because it was about a missing child and I do love a story with innocent children who need saving. But it did not grab me at the start and was not a pageturner until the climax. There were so many red herrings and twists that I found it confusing and had to give up guessing and surrender myself to the revelations at the end. And the end result really was 75% totally unexpected.

Kate, the lead, was not a character who garnered my sympathy. Too reckless, illogical and nonchalant about letting her husband carry the bag for child rearing while she lied her way into doing her own thing, keeping secrets and repeatedly making foolish choices in her search for the truth about her baby sister's disappearance. It's difficult for me to root for a character when their actions turn me off or regularly make me roll my eyes. Kate did both.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Bloody hell! This is a corker of a novel!!

It’s no surprise that I read this standalone by Carl Kovach as I absolutely love the Gina Harte series which is one of my favourite crime police procedural sites.

The book starts out with a background chapter depicting what we know in the blurb. A child is missing but who is to blame. The prologue really pulled me in. It’s likely working with children, that made this an intriguing read and made me feel uncomfortable as I read about the baby that disappeared.

I felt anxiety reading some of the chapters, they literally made me gasp as some parts were revealed… I might have cried a little at the end.

This book was an absolute gem of a read. Perfect as a summer read.

It’s full of intriguing characters and handfuls of red herrings! The twists were fabulous and have to say I’m becoming quite partial to Carla Kovach’s stand-alone psychological thrillers.

If you love her crime novels you absolutely will love this!
