Tess has it all, the perfect life, husband and son. Living in the quiet town of Westledge she spends her days homeschooling her son, working on her novel and joining her neighbours for the Cherry Lane Book Club.

But things are not as they seem. Tess can feel eyes on her, and worries that her new life may just begin to crumble. With her secret looming over her, she must figure out if she’s truly safe or if her past will come back to bite her. When her husband comes home one night with bloody hands, Tess wonders if this could be the end of everything her and her husband have worked for. Or if they can get through this like they got through that fateful night a year ago.

Trigger and content warnings include the following: mentions paralysis, domestic and verbal abuse, miscarriage, stalking, gaslighting, substance abuse, death.

In Davis’ first published novel via Bookouture, she delivers yet another gripping psychological thriller!

Having read a book by Davis before I knew the rollercoaster I would be getting myself into reading this book, which was definitely worth it!

Liar Liar, unlike her previous book I’ve read, started off a bit slower than I would have liked but starting to quickly gain momentum once the past timelines were introduced.

Davis curates yet another chill giving, at times heart wrenching and intensity building novel that will keep you hooked until the end.

🌙 I really enjoyed the fact that chosen family was a big theme throughout.

🌙 I love flashback type of chapters which made the storyline progress further and more efficiently.

🌙 Davis always creates complex characters with interesting back stories that provide them with layers to their personalities.

🌙 THE CLIFF HANGER! My gosh I was not expecting it but it was good. A little splash of instability and worry for the main character. I can’t help myself, I love to see it.

Thank you @netgalley and @bookouture for this ARC. Most importantly thank you Liz for yet another great read, until next time.

What a book this was, I literally couldn't put it down. It's a definite contender for my favourite psychological thriller of the year so far too.

The plot was gripping, fast paced, with multiple timelines and an absolute shocker of an ending!

Cleverly written with some credible, well developed characters, some were likeable and some were despicable. How vile were Lisa and Henry? My heart went out to Mason, he was the innocent in all of this, yet his father could never accept him for what his new wife had made him become.

Highly engaging, compelling and everything good and definitely one I'd recommend.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Liar Liar' by L.G Davis.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for L.G Davis,

Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 22nd July 2022.

This is the first book I have read by this author.

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching beautiful cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'Anyone who loves Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train and Behind Closed Doors will be utterly gripped.' I am a huge fan of 'Gone Girl' so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 45 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in the USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in third person perspective and main protagonist is Teas. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them.

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that really set the scene and kept me on the edge of my seat. The cover and synopsis suited the storyline perfectly.

OMG!!! MIND ABSOLUTELY BLOWN!!!!

Love, LOVE, LOVED this absolute page turner!! It may be the first book I have read by L.G Davis but I can promise you it won't be the last!!! As soon as I've written this up I'm off to add all her books to my wishlist. The storyline is absolutely ram packed with mystery, deceit, secrets, lies, romance, tension, suspense and OMG the twists just kept on coming again and again!!! Just when I thought everything that could happen had happened BOOM there was another shocker around the corner. Every time I kept telling myself one more chapter the one I was in ended at a point where there was no way I could stop reading so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!! I WAS absolutely blown away and considering I read approximately 30 books a month that is certainly no easy feat so a HUGE congratulations on that L. G . I really could not recommend this book any more. The portrayal of village life is very well written and even though this is a psychological thriller I would love to visit Westledge with its fabulous sounding book club and community spring clean festival!!!! If you are looking for something unique, filled with suspense and that will blow your mind then this is definitely the book for you!!

It is set over/includes multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT READING THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE CLEARED YOUR SCHEDULES AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!!!

I wasn't just 100% invested in the storyline but also in the characters. The every one of the characters were well defined, realistic and strong. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to say much at all about them as I don't want to run the risk of giving anything away. I will however say that my heart completely went out to Mason who didn't deserve any of the insults or abuse that he got, some of the things that his so called family said about him was sickening and my heart really went out to him. I will also say that I was absolutely gutted about a certain event especially when it was confirmed at the end. Needless to say they all worked perfectly together to make this page turner as amazing as it is!!!

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to L.G Davis on what promises to be a massive best seller!!! I WAS absolutely shocked by so many explosive reveals!!! Welcome to my favourite author list L.G and here's to your next explosive success 🥂!!!

Overall an absolutely addictive, mind blowing page turner that will keep you up with a racing heart until you've finished!!!

Genres covered in this book include Thriller, Psychological Fiction, Suspense, Thriller, Domestic Fiction, Psychological Thriller, Domestic Thriller and Mystery amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of 'Gone Girl', 'The Girl on the Train', 'Behind Closed Doors' and anyone looking for an explosive thriller that will just blow your mind!!!

302 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon or free on kindle unlimited (at time of review) which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

A predictable but gripping read. The time jumps were well set, didn't confuse me. A solid thriller, different from what I usually read at the moment which made a nice change!

A good if not at times predictable story, well written and with a good solid exciting ending,I was keen throughout to see who and why and when etc and the book did not disappoint on that score, first book read by this author and I will definitely read more from them,a good read

Interesting story that goes from the past to the present to understand how things came to be. Tess is a nanny who loves the boy she works for and would do anything to protect him, even put herself in harms way. Well written - keeps the reader interested in finding out the truth.

I really liked the fact that this book is told in duel narratives of the past and the present. It has some wild ride moments to it and some good thrilling moments too. However I did feel that it lost its way and suspense just a little bit in the middle. But it all came together with a satisfying ending.

I am excited to be taking part in the #BooksOnTour #BlogTour for L.G. Davis' tense domestic thriller LIAR LIAR.

This is my first outing with L.G. Davis and I wasn't sure what to expect given the relatively average reviews of this book. So going in, they weren't all that high but seriously, I was riveted. This book is so bizarre and filled with such disturbed, bordering on deranged, characters that it was like a car crash from which you can't drag your eyes away from! But I loved it! Yes, seriously! I don't read books for their academic or literary nuances but for the entertainment, the addictive plot and the thrill factor. If it has any or all of these, then I'm happy. And this one had them all.

The title is seriously apt - LIAR LIAR. Because there are so many misdirections and everyone appears to be harbouring secrets and above all, lying. And that cover is breathtaking. Two roses - one white, one red. Also reminiscent of the husband at once point presenting his wife with two roses. Why two? Normally it's a bunch of roses, a dozen maybe...but two? What's the significance there? Maybe the cover reveals the answer in the two different colours, highlighting that it is just the two of them in this together. In what, exactly? Well, you are just going to have to read it to find out!

Tess and Oliver seem like the perfect couple with the perfect marriage, raising their adopted son Mason, who is confined to a wheelchair after an accident left him paralysed. Mason adores Tess and has never hesitated in calling her "Mummy" but with Oliver he is far more reticent. But Tess knows that Mason just needs time to adjust to their new life and that Oliver is there to take care of them both.

When Tess discovers text messages on Oliver's phone from another woman, she is devastated. After all they have been through, he is having an affair. She confides in her two closest friends, Carmen and Dan, and after some thought decides a baby will bring them closer together and sets out to fall pregnant. When it doesn't happen, she decides to fake a pregnancy until she does or if it comes to it, fake a miscarriage. Tess believes she has it all worked out going to great lengths to save her marriage but nothing will prepare her for what she has unleashed. This is just the beginning.

The story unfolds through past and present chapters, going back three years to when Tess was Mason's nanny for her extremely wealthy and powerful employer, Henry, who was also Oliver's brother. Enticing her into his employment and thus into his bed, Tess was a young naive woman who simply wanted to care for the exuberant Mason. A trail of lies and deception was laid which ended with catastrophic results and Tess, Oliver and Mason beginning a new life far away. But is it far enough?

Following these alternate timelines, the multiple lies along the way build an even bigger castle of secrets and lies that they must live with. But Tess loves her husband and she will do anything to protect Mason. But just when she thought they were safe, Tess starts to feel as if someone is watching her. What if they have found them? And if that's not enough, when they left their lives behind Oliver promised to protect her and take her darkest secret to the grave...but what secret is he keeping from her? Because it soon becomes clear that Tess isn't the only one with a secret...so what is Oliver's?

What a wild ride LIAR LIAR is! I was riveted from the start despite being so tired and thinking I would only be able to manage a few chapters, I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting! It may have been a car crash but I just couldn't stop myself. I had to keep looking...watching...reading. Everyone is quite possibly disturbed or deranged in some mad way but that just made it all the more delicious!

Even though many of the reveals were predictable, who cares? The thrill was in the ride. You get on a rollercoaster knowing how it's going to go, how it's going to end, but you're still flowing with adrenaline by the time you step off. This book is no different. Despite some of its predictability, LIAR LIAR is still an addictive and intriguing domestic thriller you won't want to put down.

And then there was the ending. OMG! How could it stop there? But what a fantastic end that just left you wanting more even though you know it was just perfect as it was.

Don't worry about the deranged characters that may well have stepped off the Jerry Springer set...just jump in, belt up and enjoy the adrenaline-fueled ride.

I would like to thank #LGDavis, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #LiarLiar in exchange for an honest review.

The blurb definitely caught my attention but unfortunately it was just meh for me. It started off strong and told in past and present timelines which is always a good story builder. I’m a fan of a good domestic thriller that has some questionable characters but this one really lacked the thrills to keep you engaged and wanting more. It was just a very flat plot and you could see what was coming early on. I found it boring and was hoping to get to the end soon. To begin with I really liked Tess as a character as she’s portrayed as very strong but that soon dwindles. I didn’t really care for any of the characters and I think that was down to the fact I didn’t really get to know them if that makes sense.

2.5/5 🌟🌟/🌟

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read #LiarLiar

Holy smokes, do the characters in this book get gold stars in the Liar’s Club. Liar, Liar has rich emotions: envy, betrayal, jealousy, deception. Yet, there is also true evil and cruelty mixed in. I had to know why Tess was afraid of Oliver and what secrets she harbored. Why was Mason the way he was? I had figured out most of the main plot Haley’s through, but at the last minute, one final click was added that I had anticipated a bit.
If you’re looking for a twisty tale of falsehoods, jump in.

Wowzers!!! What a book what an ending. Nothing happened that I thought it would which was fantastic. I love when I read a book that I can devour in one sitting and not have a clue how it would end. Brilliant book!!!

Thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

Great book by LG Davis. A nanny-type book but from an after-the-fact point of view. Is she imagining what is happening in her new life or is there something else at play?

This book? THIS book? Awesome! It fulfills everything I could ever want from a novel.
Who do you trust? I don’t know.
Who are you routing for? I don’t know.
What’s actually going on? I don’t know.
Like I said….absolutely everything I desire in a story!

It’s rare to find nowadays, a book that can surprise you and keep you guessing. And on top of that, to keep you interested and wanting to find out what happens at the end.
Well, this is it. I give you your next big psychological thriller.

I can’t say anymore than this, just pick it up and enjoy it for yourselves.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for my arc.

‘Oh what a tangled web we weave/When first we practice to deceive’ Truly the perfect saying for this book! But who is the liar? Is it the husband? The Wife? And who is watching them? A delightful introduction to this author who I look forward to reading more from. Tense, tightly written and obsessively readable!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Lair liar is the perfect title of this book. This is about a woman Tess, from humble beginnings who becomes a nanny and forms a deep attachment to Mason, will to do anything to keep him happy and safe. This is a journey with many twists and turns and lies. The book will keep you reading as you try to figure out what will happen to Tess and Mason. And the ending has it share of, I did not see that coming going on.

Enjoyed this. Thank you to netgalley for complimentary copy.

I really struggled with this rating, not sure how to rate it. It was addictive but so far fetched and some plot holes that just were tied up without any closure. However on the otherside it really was addictive and I really did want to know what had happened especially to Mason and Dan.

So take it on face value and it is worth a read.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

I really tried with this book but the writing irked me and so did Tess. I just could not get into this story. It was slow and I didn't much care what happened to her. Just not my kind of book.

HOLY CRAP WOW

I have no words. Like I honestly have NO words.

This was spectacular. Amazing. Wonderful. Beyond perfection wow.

I am completely swept by everything.

The writing style, the characters, the plot, everything was just too good. STUNNING. Wow

I kind of thought that at the ALMOST end, everything became a bit obvious, especially with Carmen and Mason but otherwise, it was great, kinda did NOT see the ending coming.

I can't even word properly because this was just too good.

This book has me playing the guessing game and trying to piece things together but once I got it all, I was shocked. It came together so smoothly and made me nod my head. The book centers around Oliver and Tess and their disabled son Mason. Their relationship has quite a few circles and strings but it’s laid out quite nicely in the book. It’s a pretty creepy and suspenseful book and worth you grabbing for a fun weekend read.

Let me start by saying that L.G. Davis is a very gifted writer! The writing style was totally engrossing and perfectly paced. From the first chapter on, I was hooked and invested in the story. I am definitely checking out more of this author's books.

Carrying on, this book had more twists and shocks than most other thrillers that I have read. While I saw some of the ending coming, the majority caught me off guard. It really did keep me thrilled and guessing all along. Along with these, another thing I liked was the realness of Tess's character. Her love for Mason, determination to hide her secrets, and care for her friends felt very real to me. I would have liked to have more believability in the plot and some of the twists. Parts felt a bit too far fetched for me, but it was still fun to read about it. Overall, I enjoyed Liar Liar and I would recommend it as your next thriller.
