This is one of those books that will put a smile on your face as you start reading and will essentially keep it there all the way through. The characters were well-developed and endearing and you can't help but fall in love with them. Josie and Cameron meet at a Halloween party. They had so much in common with each other and they really clicked. There chemistry was undeniable. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and the witty banter between them was so much fun. The story was entertaining from start to finish and there definitely was a uniqueness to it. A charming story with fun, humor, romance and also a little vulnerability, which definitely brought a sense of realness to it.
Truly enjoyable story and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Bailey's wotk.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I don't actually know when I last laughed this much reading a book. This was A JOY (and yes, capital letters are necessary). This book is so, so funny and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time in this world.

What do you get when you pair the most unconventional family into one story, we're talking a soap star brother, ex-porn star parents and a high successful main character....so many laugh out loud moments. This was a gem of a read.

This book is an absolute gem with a fun storyline that will have you laughing out loud!
The characters all individually give so much, I loved their strengths and belief in themselves. Unfortunately, family dynamics can be confronting and embarrassing. Josie and Cameron have a special connection, is it possible to build this into an amazing relationship?
This is a great read, plenty of laughs, hot topics and a sassy Nan!

Thanks so much to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. Huge congratulations to Kristen Bailey on a well written book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a funny, charming book. Josie works for her parent’s sex toy company that started out small and turned into an empire. She lives at her with her parents, both former stars in adult films. Her last boyfriend couldn’t deal with it, so when she meets a cute video game designer named Cameron at a party, he thinks she’s the event organizer and Josie doesn’t correct him.
This goes on as they start dating, with Josie’s family backing her up. She knows she owes Cameron the truth, but she’s afraid of what will happen when he finds out.
The characters are interesting and quirky, and there are lots of funny scenes. This is great beach read, 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

Josie comes from an unconventional family, her brother is a soap star, her parents are ex-porn stars, and she runs the most successful adult store in the UK. Although successful, with a loving family, and friends, her past relationships have left her hesitant to share the details of her life. When she meets Cameron, who assumes she is a caterer, Josie does not feel the need to correct him - and soon is caught in that trap.

Great Sexpectations is a mature and light romance. Josie is a fun , competent character, coming to terms with her past experiences. The story was endearing and had me rooting for a happy ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and heartily recommend it. Like a good bit of escapism can - Bailey's novel left me smiling and feeling hopeful.

I will definitely keep my eye out for more from Kristen Bailey.

Great Sexpectations by Kristen Bailey was literally one of my most favorite reads by a long shot! This book completely got me out of a readers slump. She is such a fantastic author and I anticipate every time a book of hers is set for release. Her writing is so funny, sharp, and heartfelt. I loved this book! The ghostbuster references and the way the main character dealt with her partners being prior members of the porn industry …yes you heard that right kept me turning the pages anxious to see what would happen next! I loved the love interest as well. So funny and relatable. Absolutely can’t wait for her next book!

I really liked the cover of this books and the title, it caught my interest and I didn’t know exactly what it was about, but I knew it would hold humour and romance.

It’s a unique storyline with the parents having been porn stars and had since started their own sex toy business. I can honestly say that although I wouldn’t have picked this book if I’d realised that that was what it was about, I’m really pleased that I did, because I actually really enjoyed it! It made me laugh a lot, the characters are colourful and fun, the family felt like a real fam, with all their own personality traits and individual life experiences.

It’s well written and kept me entertained all the way through. Thank you so much to NetGalley for allowing me the chance to give an honest review!

If you’re into laughing out loud and being entertained with a great book, I’d give this a read.

I love this author and was just really excited to read this new book when I saw it advertised. Let me tell you, it certainly didn't disappoint!

I have become accustomed to a certain level of naughty, and in fact, sometimes downright dirty humour from Kristen Bailey's books, and this story was no exception. The characters were lovely and the situation of having adult film stars for parents was handled in a light-hearted way.

I love a book which makes me giggle out loud, and once again, this author has easily brought on the laughter.

Josie and Cameron may be kindred spirits, but sometimes timing, and circumstance, can make even the most promising connection more difficult than ever anticipated. This is such a fun, and very funny, book, and I really came to enjoy, admire, and care about all the main characters. I want a Nan! I also like that the story didn't shy away from how complicated and messy it would be to grow up with adult entertainers for parents, even if you love and fully accept them.
I loved how nerdy this book was it was so cute and Josie and Cameron were adorable. Also what a brilliant title!!

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Bookouture and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: After Josie got dumped by her ex through a note on the fridge, she hasn’t let herself get close to anyone. But when she meets Cameron at a Halloween party, who turns up in the same Ghostbusters costume as her, it’s virtually impossible to stay away. Josie falls madly in love. Cameron has no idea that Josie lives at home with her ex-porn star parents and their Josie decides to tell a little white lie about her job. But it’s just a matter of time until the truth comes out. When it does, will Cameron end things, leaving Josie with only Dave the dog for company? And what if she’s not the only one who’s keeping secrets?

My Thoughts: This was such a cute and adorable fun read! I absolutely fell in love with Josie, and her family of course; I just really connected with her, she was close with her family and they firmly believed to stand in your truth, which is how I live. While I had heard of Kristen Bailey, this was my first read by her, but will not be my last as she has been added to my TBR authors! The characters were well developed with layers of depth, witty banter, instant connection, awesome chemistry, and were creatively written. The author’s writing style was complex, emotional, humorous, heartwarming, and just brilliantly done. I loved the premise of this story, your ex-porn parents run a sex shop business, who doesn’t smile at this?? I really love the message that this story delivers, stand in your truth, whatever that is and sex positivity. I ran the gambit of emotions with this one from laughing out loud, tears, and happiness. I would highly recommend this book that came out late last month.

If I’m being completely honest, it was the Dickensian title that grabbed my attention, and my emerging love for a good romance novel that spurred me on to read this. Going in blind to the book, I was pleasantly surprised with how funny it was, and the idea of a complicated insta love situation had me hooked,

It explored many a taboo topics well, had the wow factor and was written so extremely well, I’m now eager to read more of Kristin Bailey’s work, and I am definitely going to buy a phsycial copy of this book.

Great Sexpections has most everything you expect from a romance novel: a super adorable meet cute, frustrating miscommunication, and a wonderful cast of supporting characters (Nan and Michelle both need their own books). Except the miscommunications in this book are flat out lies and hidden facts. There were times when I wished I could reach into the book and shake Josie until she opened up to Cameron.

Despite this, Great Sexpectations is charming. The meet cute is super nerdy and the movie references made me smile. The cast of supporting characters, especially Josie's parents and coworkers, are a joy. I would absolutely read this one again.

4 stars!

Thank you to the author (Kristen Bailey), publisher, and NetGallery for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by Kristen Bailey, but I was intrigued by the synopsis, it seemed like something I’d like to read so I requested it on NetGallery unaware of what I was getting myself in for!

Firstly, I was not expecting this book to be as funny as it was, (I don’t know why as it literally said in the synopsis: “so funny it should come with a warning”)!!! From the first couple of chapters, this had me laughing out loud and I was not expecting it to carry on throughout!!
One of my favourite funny lines:
“Yep, this never happens with the Deliveroo man.” (this is completely out of context but do not want my account to get banned 😂)
And this conversation:
“‘How many questions have they asked you?’ ‘It’s going into the hundreds. They’re very sweet questions, though.’ ‘Like?’ ‘She asked me my shoe size.’ I blush. Hard. ‘She did what? Is she buying you shoes?’ ‘I hope so. Christmas is around the corner.”

Secondly, I loved the storyline!! It kept me completely hooked throughout, even when it got a bit repetitive with the whole “I should tell him the truth” thing, I still found myself wanting to carry on and find out what happened! Josie was a likeable and relatable character, Cameron was the perfect LI and (although there were a lot of them) all the side characters made the story, and each bought their own aspect to the storyline!
Furthermore, even though the third act break-up was inevitable (as it always is in romcoms), this was was done really well and broke me and I found myself actually questioning how the book was going to end by the last chapter!
** I was also not expecting the twist with Cam, even though we knew he was hiding something (see synopsis)!

Lastly, I was however not expecting this book to be a ‘closed door’ romcom!! I understand that this was not the main point of the book, and that the idea is about sex education and positivity, and that the two MC’s sex life wasn’t a ‘hidden’ aspect, I was just expecting it to be spicey!! But I enjoyed the book none-the-less!

Overall, I really enjoyed my first read of Kristen Bailey’s and can see myself reading more of her work in the future!

Everyone, meet one of my favorite reads this year!

Josie is a 24-year-old, and she is a CEO of a sex shop. Her parents are ex-porn stars, and her brother is a soap opera star. Sounds a lot, right? That's why her ex breaks up with her via a refrigerator note. Now she is kind of insecure because of her family and their business.

And when Josie meets Cameron at a Halloween party (his girlfriend cheats on him with his best friend and roommate at this party!) she doesn't tell him about all of this sex staff. As you can imagine, things are getting complicated.

I loved everything about this rom-com! It's super fun, it has a lot of cute moments, and it even has a little bit of spice. So good! I loved all of the characters most of all (even the bad guys, yeah). They're not shallow, you can see real people with all of their nice traits, insecurities, etc. while reading this book.

I give Great Sexpectations 4.5 / 5 only because of the ending. I didn't really like it, because it seemed rushed. I'd love to have at least an epilogue. There were not enough scenes of Cameron and Josie knowing all the truth and still being happy.

This was SO fun! I want to read all of this author's lineup! I loved the premise here, loved the parents, loved how they met! Absolutely recommending this book!

Josie Jewell meets Cameron Cox at her soap opera star little brother Sonny’s Halloween party. They end up talking because they both happen to be wearing Ghostbusters jumpsuit costumes. It’s both a good and bad party for Cameron, he meets Josie and that’s wonderful but he actually came to the party with his girlfriend Imogen but she’s cheating on him with his best friend/roommate at the party and Cameron catches them both hooking up. Josie is there to be his friend, they really like each other a lot. The only problem (other than Cam catching his girlfriend cheating on him with his roomate) is that Josie has sort of not told Cameron the truth about who her family is, she’s afraid of being judged by him like her ex boyfriend Mike judged her. You see, Josie’s parents are retired porn stars and while she feels no shame about that fact, she fears others will shame her like they have in the past. She also runs the sex shop her parents started, she deals in dildos and dildo accessories. Again, not something she is ashamed of but her ex used it as part of the reason for breaking it off with her. So she hides part of who she is because that feels easier.

I absolutely enjoyed every bit of this book. It’s laugh out loud funny while also being so wholesome, even with all the double entendres. Josie and her family are really the greatest and I could see myself loving them just as much as Cameron does by the end. I love how open they were about the topic of sex, that really aligned with my own beliefs. Sonny, Josie’s brother and his wedding poem… That poem was so adorble and corny and by the time I was done reading it I had tears in my eyes, and then what Josie says right after it about how he forgot Love Shack made me laugh out loud so hard that my husband asked me if I was ok.

This is a fantastic story for people who love romance novels and aren’t shy about sex talk, the naked body, and dildos/ sex accessories.
