The book is called “one last secret” but my god there was a LOT of secrets! The only reason it’s a 4 and not a 5 is because at times I felt the monologues were way too descriptive and dragged on that’s i found myself skimming them, but the storyline itself is A+. I could have done without that epilogue, to me it just kind of spiraled my brain and now I want a sequel!!

I'm pretty sure this is my first Adele Parks, but I can guarantee it will not be my last - this book is jacked in the head in all the best ways. I had not idea what to think or what was going on for a good chunk of the book.

Adele Parks hit it our of the park (pun intended) again! Dora is a successful, elite escort and enjoys the freedom and monetary rewards it offers, but after an isolated incident, her best friend convinces her to finally retire--and marry him. He's beyond wealthy so Dora will never have to worry about money again. However, one last request from a trusted client makes her go back on her promise and take one last job. After that, this will be her last secret...if she lives to tell it.

This is a revenge plot of the highest order with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very last page. The plot revolves around Dora, a high class sex worker, who finds the love of her life yet chances it all on one last "assignment":. What could possible go wrong.. All Dora has to do is play the girlfriend role for an old client at a house party in the south of France.. What ensues is a dark and dangerous plot pitting revenge against love. This is no "Pretty Woman" and Dora has to engage all of her strength and intellect to work her way through the lies and secrets.. Sit back, grab a glass of French wine and enjoy. This on was hard to put down !

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an opportunity to read and review. Unfortunately, for me, this one was a bit of a dud. I found it underwhelming and difficult to get through. The premise was solid and there was potential for a really great provocative thriller, but this was not it.

My first read by Adele Parks and it certainly will not be my last. Folliwng the story of a high end escort Dora through her travels was a page turning story that kept me reading until I couldn't any more but pushing through because I couldn't put it down! Amazing job!

Well hold an otter! Freakin' heck! Parks has always had me hooked on any book she writes, & this one was no different. From the beginning this book will have you snagged & it keeps up with the constant twists & craziness. You want suspense? You'll get it big time with this one! The anti is constantly amped up as it progresses and the shockers towards the end are mind boggling!

But after a brazen attack on her from a client, her best friend Evan offers a proposition she agrees is great, as long as she puts her job to an end. But one client, Daniel is asking for a last hurrah before she quits. To come away with him to a villa in France and be his girlfriend among his friends. But after she agrees and they arrive, everything is no where near it seems and soon she questions herself and all she knows, especially when she comes face to face with a man who resembles her attacker. But things turn even uglier as the days progress and she'll end up in the fight for her life.

I'll be honest, I was leaning towards to only giving this 3 out of 5 stars, until the dang ending! Fluff me! Albeit a little too much, at times, description or unneeded explanations / added unnecessary parts, I still enjoyed this so much and that ending - fluff sakes! Parks really knows how to save the best for last and this one hit it right on! I will give you a bit of a warning, scenes are not for the prude and can be explicit. But still so well done!

Not for me. Started off appealing but became repetition navel grazing. Interesting premise by couldn't good my attention. There stars for dnf.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review -
Dora has a baby and struggles to put food on the table. She calls her mom and she babysits while Dora does escort services. When mom finds out what Dora's job is - she calls Dora unfit and has Dora sign the baby over to her to raise. Heartbroken Dora throws herself into her job becoming one of the best. One last job and Dora will leave escort services- but Dora runs into the man from years ago when her life changed. Will this last secret kill her?

Adele Parks writes books that twist and turn and keep the reader guessing. This book follow the formula of characters not being who they pretend to be and the facade of another world.

One Last Secret is about a private, discreet escort who goes to France with a man to be his date at a big party. This is to be her last hurrah before she leaves the business to be with a man she has fallen in love with.
The other characters in France come off as cold and sometimes abrasive. While there Dora runs into an old flame who has a secret that can destroy Dora's world.

Dora is forthright and an honest narrator in a world of many secrets. When the books switches narrators and jumps from current to past it does lose some momentum but it comes together again. The journey through this book will keep you reading way past your bedtime.

I am an avid Adele Parks fan but this wasn’t my favorite of hers. It’s a good read. Twists & turns aplenty. It just seemed a bit far fetched to me. As it’s fiction, that’s certainly acceptable but just not within my realm of believability. The writing is great, of course, & it’s got a great feel of escapism to it. Enjoy!

Not gonna lie – Dora is boring.

This book took too long to catch my attention. The beginning is a primer to sex work. I think it’s an honest one – and a respectful one – but the ABCs of sex work do not an exciting thriller make.

Eventually, get to something mysterious and dangerous and just as you’re totally into this…GIGANTIC FLASHBACK ALERT! Look, the flashback is important, but it’s so clumsy and, yes, still kind of dull.

We get back to the thriller and…huh. That’s who’s doing what and that’s why they’re doing it? Okay…

So, yeah, this one definitely did not work for me. Moving on to my next read.

This was a great read! I was hooked after the first few pages! Dora is a high paid escort who has quality clientele. Or does she? One last final job in the South of France and she is done! But.. things never go as planned even though she is familiar with the client. She nailed this psychological thriller! I now want more of her books to devour!

This one started out with a bang for me and immediately had my attention.

The twists were TWISTY!

The only downfall of this book was that it was way too wordy. It dragged the story down in my opinion. SO MANY UNNECESSARY WORDS. 🙄

I wanted to smack Dora a few times throughout the book too which didn’t help. 😂

Overall, it had so much potential to be one of my top favorite reads this year but ultimately fell short due to the amount of wordiness.

Adele Parks is one my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint!! A storyline unlike no other with a huge twist at the end! I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t read it fast enough. But let me tell you that the first page will have you asking yourself is this really what this is about. And you find yourself really rooting for Dora despite the fact she is a hooker. In fact several times during the book I was screaming at her for her mistakes! There are a few things that are predictable but her story telling skills are phenomenal! This is a great book!

I received this ARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I have read Parks before and I love the way she writes so I was excited to read this new release! I have to say I was not disappointed!!! This is the story of Dora, a high price escort who has no shame in her game. She likes the finer things in life and will work to get them. Enter Evan, a wealthy friend who professes his love to her and wants to save her from this life she is living. But she decides to do one last job and finds she has no idea what she is getting her self into. She finds herself in a nightmare situation and cannot determine what is real and what she is imaging. So many twists and turns and surprises around every corner! This was a 4 star read for me!
