I just couldn’t love this one. I think Rae and her character were a bit hard to like for me.
I think she held a lot of contempt for Van and made him work too hard.

I usually love a second chance romance but this was just hard to get into because of how much anger was still involved.

This was a quick and entertaining romance--perfect for vacation. I found the characters both likeable and believable--not too perfect or overwhelmingly imperfect.

Reagan “Rae” Murphy is not looking for love, she runs from it. This is since the day of her wedding and what happened with her to be groomed. Now she is asked to be a maid of honor for her friend's wedding and does not say no. While getting ready and only wearing a towel she runs into her ex, and he wants to explain what happened did not happen but she will not talk to him. Of course, her friends now are putting all of the pieces together and realize this is the reason she is the way she is and wants the story, they also want her to listen to him. See what happens with all of the couples in this good story with good characters. Very much worth the read.

Mmmmmm. I think this one could have been better to be honest. I just think it didn't gave what it intended to give.

Earning It is a second chance romance between a PR expert and an FBI agent. Rae does not believe in love--not since her heart was broken by a guy she thought she knew, but who turned out to be an agent tasked with using her in order to bring down her criminal boss. As the maid of honor of her best friend's wedding, she's shocked to find out that the best man is none other than her ex--and he wants her back.

As I read this book, I was convinced it had to be a sequel. Many second chance romances need to give a lot of background, but this book seemed to be ALL background. The author was always alluding to events that had occurred well before page one, including things that had nothing to do with the romance. This really brought me out of the story. I also had a lot of problems with the believability of the story--I didn't understand how Rae didn't know who the best man was until the day of the wedding. I could get past that, but I also didn't know if I was buying the idea that the FBI would be telling an agent to have a one-year romantic relationship with a civilian (that he moved in with), for a relatively minor case.

What I liked about this book was the friendship between the women in the story. They were all total boss babes and were really supportive of each other. I liked the settings of the wedding and the tropical vacation they were all on. Unfortunately, I just didn't love it.

I would love to give this a 2.5, but for the sake of a proper star rating, I'm rounding to a three. If you love contemporary romances, second chance romances, tropical destinations, or weddings, you might love this one, so don't let my minor issues with it deter you.

Great summer beach read…. Who doesn’t love a good 2nd chance romance story? I do feel the plot dragged a little in the beginning but picked up and then had a good pace.

Cute second chance romance. Well written and developed. Loved the characters. I don't think there was a single character I didn't like. Full of twists, turns and the most emotional reunion.

Reading this book made my cold winter nights warm and cozy. A perfect love story that was ruined by lies. Fortunately, Rae and Van find each other again in an unexpected encounter and decide to give their love another try. A perfect spicy, slow, burn romance that will keep you keep you warm this winter!

Thank you, NetGalley, the publisher, and author for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.

A sweet book! A strong 3.5 stars.

Regan, a PR specialist, had her heartbroken five years ago when her boyfriend, Ray, turned out to be an undercover agent trying to take down her boss. The two had been together for a year, and lived together by the end when she came home to find he had an alternate identity. She ran away from the city she lived in, the job she worked hard at and the man she thought she’d spend the rest of her life with.

Jump to present day. She’s the maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding but who does she run into? And unexpectedly, Ray, whose real name is Donovan — Van for short, is the best man.

Can Van do what it takes to earn Rae’s trust back?

The book takes place half at the wedding and half at the week-long couples’ vacation the bride and groom chose in place of a traditional honeymoon.

I liked the book overall and it was definitely an interesting premise. It has me questioning what I’d do in the same situation and I loved being along for the ride as Rae and Van became reacquainted for better or worse. I didn’t love the pacing — as I mentioned, almost half the book is on one day and the other half is a week’s time — but it was fun and a great summer read. All the characters were funny and for a short book, had a decent amount of feeling to them. My other problem was that this felt like a sequel but I wasn’t able to find another book in this series that would’ve explained some of the missing context.

I’d definitely still recommend this book to friends who want a quick and witty summer read! Thanks NetGalley, Sugar Beaver Books and Smith Publicity for an ARC!

A fun summer read. I enjoy books set in the Southeast. Main character was funny. I will be reading more from this author.

Earning It is fun, witty, and everything you’d want in a romance. The pace is just right, and I found myself turning page after page and gobbling it up.

Rae is a firecracker of a main character who is funny and relatable as she faces past heartbreak and betrayal. Completely done with love, Rae finds herself having to play nice with her ex on her best friend’s wedding day, and staying strong when face to face with her ex is much more of a chore than she imagined.

What I loved about Earning It is that it gives just the right amount of all the things I love in a good romance. Not too deep, but complex enough feelings and plot, not too slow but not exhausting action, and just enough banter and wit to keep it lighthearted and funny.

A must read for enemies to lovers and second chance romance lovers.

Sadly, I had to DNF this one. I had high hopes, I'm a sucker for a second chance romance, but Immediately I felt no connection to the characters, the setting, or the storyline. This story just didn't connect for me, and I ended up unable to force myself to read this one through to the end.
