Regan Murphy doesn’t believe in love anymore. And she most certainly has no interest in seeing Donovan MacLeod every again. When her best friend gets married and Van is the best man, can these two find their way back to each other?

A Wedding and a sweltering trip to Mexico make Earning It a fun, steamy beach read for anyone who is looking for a quick romp and lovable cast of characters.

I enjoyed this - it was a quick and easy read and I didn’t need to put much thought into the story line. While it wasn’t an original concept or knocking my socks off - it was a thoroughly fun book for the moment I read it in.

Thanks to NetGalley, Sugar Beaver Books, and E.F. Dodd for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book is the definition of both "guilty pleasure" and "beach read." It's also kind of like if an adult romance was written about Barbie and Friends. That thought kept coming to mind while reading it, which is good or bad depending on what you're looking for.

The entire story takes place over the course of a week, with flashbacks to the past. Ultimately one of the main characters has a week (!) to "earn a second chance" with another character. A lot happens but at the same time ... not much really happens. Does that make sense? I think this was supposed to be story-driven because the characters are fairly superficial. But I really wanted a bit more out of the story.

There were a lot of the same thoughts and conversations between the main characters about some past situations that have created the premise for the book. I was expecting some big, climatic revelation ... a type of twist, if you will. So I was a bit disappointed when that didn't happen.

Overall, it's a somewhat unique storyline with semi-lovable characters. There's a decent amount of steam. Read if you need a mindless story and you don't mind physically-focused relationships.

Cute rom-com story for those easy breezy weekends. I enjoyed the story enough to give it four stars. Nothing really new here but it was enojyable.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book! I liked this book from the very beginning. It gets right into the story and it’s a very easy quick read. I love that the author shows you the beginning of their love story and it just makes you root for them to reconcile even more! I usually don’t like second chance romance all that much but this one was very well done. I love the chemistry and banter between the characters. I also loved the friends in this book. This book went at a perfect pace and just makes you feel warm and fuzzy by the end of it!

This was my first time reading something by this author and it was an enjoyable second chance romance. It is a cute and sweet story that will having you smiling along as you read. The characters were interesting and well-developed with realistic qualities and were easily relatable. The story was delightfully cute and I really enjoyed it. If you're looking for a fun, quick and light read, then you definitely will want to pick this one up. Having suffered a devastating heartbreak and betrayal, Rae has pretty much written off love. She has zero interest in it and doesn't really believe in lasting love. But when her best friend asks her to be her maid of honor at her wedding, how can she refuse. Then, it's like the universe is laughing in her face when best man shows up to be none other than the very man who deceived her and blew up her life, her ex Van. This man pretty much ruined her life, yet she has to bite the bullet and pretend everything is ok so she doesn't disrupt her friend's wedding. The only hindrance is that Van wants a chance to redeem himself. He will do anything to prove that he still loves Rae.
This was a fun and easy read and I enjoyed the interactions between the characters. Rae and Van seemed to have really good chemistry and I liked the way Van was determined and didn't give up and showed Rae how he was willing to do anything to get her back. A sweet story I am glad to have had the opportunity to read.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I enjoyed this romance with a hint of comedy, but it's one of those where you're screaming at the characters to just TALK! I know, I know the miscommunication creates the angst and buildup, but sometimes it's a bit too much. Overall, this is a quick and fun read.

What a fun second chance romance! It's a classic trope: On the morning of her best friend's wedding, Rae discovers that her ex-boyfriend, whom she hasn't seen in five years, is actually the best man. She's not thrilled to see him, and he's eager for a chance to fix what went wrong between them all those years ago.

Add in a weeklong group tropical vacation, a fair amount of alcohol, and a lot of teeny bikinis and you've got a perfect setup for a sexy summer romance.

This is definitely open door, and it's a quick, easy breezy read!

This book was a quick and cute little read. Perfect recipe for a RomCom. I feel like some aspects of the story were a bit rushed and didn’t quite make sense. For that reason I felt it was a 3 out of 5 stars. If the romance is good enough I can sometimes overlook those small details but, I felt it just wasn’t quite there. If you’re looking for something quick and cute, this one would be for you !

If you are looking for a fun and light read on one of those trying days, then this book is for you. Regan comes face to face with her ex at her bestie's wedding. I love that Regan is a strong female character. I really enjoyed this story.

This is a romcom that is a fast and light read.
One problem I had with this book was that so many of their character names were abbreviations. V, Rae, Van, Kez! In the beginning you had to learn their real name and their abbreviated name and it was confusing at first. I also thought some of the dialogue between the characters was immature for their age. Overall the book was ok and I enjoyed it but there are better romcoms out there.

This book was good! I really liked the concept as I am a sucker for a second chance romance. It did drag just a little bit - the entire first half of the book happens in like one day and then everything snowballs from there. I think I would've liked more consistency or for the single-day-plot to have more impact overall.

What a delightful romp! A perfect amount of tension, sexiness, and teasing. If you’ve every been part of a wedding you know how much time and energy goes into the big day. While Rae is in full Maid of Honor mode making sure Kez has a perfect wedding day, her ex casually wanders in unexpectedly and her whole world turns upside-down.

I loved the whole wedding/honeymoon setting as it allows for a lot of leeway and time to build the relationship between the characters. I do find it a tiny bit farfetched that the Maid of Honor and Best Man did not know about each other at all during the whole wedding process. With all of the events, planning, and time that goes into a wedding it seems a bit silly that their names never came up. Regardless, throwing two scathing exes together at the last minute definitely added to the drama of the day.

Rae is understandably guarded when it comes to Van. His deceit upended her entire life 5 years ago and she finally feels stable. Unfortunately she never dealt with her feelings for Donovan and now she has to spend a week in paradise with the man who broke her heart and let her walk away. Van is determined to make it up to Rae and finds every opportunity he can to show her he can be trusted.

There’s great tension, funny quips, an impromptu drag show, and all kinds of hilarious shenanigans to be had. This was a fun read with a enough conflict to not be overly sweet. I definitely recommend this to romance lovers who enjoy snarky women and second chance love stories.

The story was light and fun to read. It had the right amount of spicy. I loved how second-chance-romance trope was played out in it but I felt very little character arc was provided for Van. I found his character boring and flat.
Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this book and for having me on the instagram tour!

This is a good book. I could hardly put it down. The two main characters are Rae and Van. They once dated but broke up. Five years later they meet again at their best friends wedding as the best man and maid of honor. They have the issues that broke them up but they still love each other and work out their issues.

So, this is the second book in this series and though I read this one first, I didn't feel like I missed anything that happened before. The heroine, Rae has been hoarding ill-feeling towards Van for some perceived wrongdoing and is not prepared to confront him about it, even after several years and a burning need to know the truth. Circumstances throw them together, providing opportunities for soul-cleansing, recriminations and forgiveness. The storyline had some laughable moments and some moments of exasperation where Rae was concerned, but this didn't dilute the enjoyment of the book. The supporting characters were a great complement to the plot .You will enjoy this book and the unexpected twist to the big secret once it is revealed.

I enjoyed this summer romance, finding much to love with Rae and Van. Theirs is a story of miscommunication and withheld secrets from five years ago. With a hefty dose of steamy attraction—and above all deep feelings—I was rooting for their HEA from the get-go. The dynamic with their closeknit friend group made for a lot of fun, too. Really liked this book and would recommend to other romance readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and E. F. Dodd. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Review:
Story: I enjoyed this story far more than I thought I would in all honesty. I also determined that I might watch too many crime shows with law enforcement types as the main characters. Those who understand, will know exactly what I'm talking about. I was convinced it was going to be long and drawn out and that I would want to scream. I was completely wrong. Also, I'd love a short story involving Nana. The references made about her are just too cute!!!! She wasn't in the book enough.
Characters: I could imagine if this book had more viewpoints than just Van and Rae. I'd have loved to see more points of view. Especially Kez. She seems like a riot! Also, I'd love to see a book on Jackson and Kez. I really feel like I need to get to know Kez so much more.
Critiques: None
Final Thoughts: I thought I was going to walk into a cliché book that was full of predictability and angst. I was completely wrong and I'm completely okay with that. There is a bit of spice in this book. It really added well to the story. I also loved the open talk about sexual things among the group of friends. That was great!

Absolutely Fabulous! I hadn’t heard of this author before reading this amazing book, I’ll be looking for more!
I sure didn’t expect such a great storyline with strong female characters, I loved the writing style and content!
I particularly enjoyed reading the character’s interactions, the emotions and how much energy went into righting the wrongs!
The confidence and sass, the friendships, patience, loving and perseverance was a perfect mix! Highly recommended!

Thank you to Sugar Beaver Books, NetGalley and the amazing author for the opportunity to read and review this book.
