I receive this book from the publisher through netgalley.com I am voluntarily leaving this review.

This is a really good read, well written and good narration. I will admit that the actor that gave voice to Zoe made me nuts. She gave a cringe worthy but realistic portrayal of those awful teen years. I kept thinking god I hate teenagers every time she narrated the chapter. I remember friends kids behaving like Zoe and it made me crazy but it was really well executed.

Liza is woefully naive, she doesn't seem to know what is happening around her. Its like she is living in a bubble. Liza is an accurate portrayal of white privilege. She just doesn't see what is right in front of her. From the way that the rich kids from her school are treated differently by police to the fact that her friends death was barely investigated, which probably would have been different had she not been Latina. Even her daughters experience being half Japanese is overlooked by her. Her total inability to see other's experiences until the fateful events that unfold around her daughter are mind blowing but also so common.

Very well written, great mystery and strangely enough I started reading this book right before I headed down to my house on the Delaware Beach which is one of the settings in the book.

Thank you Netgalley & Macmillan Audio for an ALC of All the Dirty Secrets! I read this book in ecopy first, and had to get my hands on the audiobook, too, because it is just THAT good! Binge-worthy is the perfect way to explain All the Dirty Secrets.

The narrators can truly make or break an audiobook - And both did an outstanding job with this one when it comes to relaying emotions of both Liza and Zoe.

Read and/or listen to this one if you enjoy
-Academia-set books (Upscale DC private school scene)
-Dual-timelines (The timelines flow together perfectly to deliver multiple stories at once - a warm summer night twenty-five years ago when tragedy struck during Liza's high school graduation party on the beach - and now, when history repeats herself with her teenage daughter Zoe. Another young woman has drowned at beach week.)
-Multiple POVs (Between Liza and her daughter Zoe)

When a Washington Prep student drowns during beach week, alumni from 25 years earlier are reminded of their own tragic experience with the infamous end of the year party scene. One of those alumni, Liza Gold, finds out that her daughter was best friends with the victim, and it brings back a lot of questions from her own beach week experience. As Liza digs into both drownings, she quickly realizes that the two deaths might not be accidental. Liza wants the truth about what happened to her own friend all those years ago.....but when her investigation leads to her own friends, she starts to wonder if she really wants to know.

I really enjoyed this one, my only criticism is that it's a little lengthy. I'm not exactly sure what I would have cut out, it does all seem necessary, but Hillary Huber is probably my favorite narrator and for some reason it still dragged in the middle.

Overall highly recommended!

4.25 stars

This was a good one. It was dark, twisty, twisted, suspenseful, intriguing, and many other things. Some books try to convey messages about modern feminist issues and either fail terribly or end up sounding preachy; this one, however, does a great job of addressing serious concepts in a meaningful and interesting way without losing the intensity of the plot. The ending wasn’t exactly what I wanted it to be, but it was realistic and still made its point, so maybe that’s better anyway. I really liked this story and will be eagerly awaiting whatever the writer puts out into the world next.

3.9 stars

25 years ago Liza and her friends celebrated high school graduation at beach week. Liza's best friend died. Liza's teen daughter Zoe is involved in a death at beach week and 25 year old secrets start to unravel.

I liked the book but did get frustrated with Liza's naivety at times.

Narration by Hillary Huber and Josephine Huang was excellent. Petulant teenage Zoe was so well done I wanted to slam doors and stomp feet in her honor.

This was a great mystery! I also love this narrator (for Liza). Definitely entertaining and couldn’t wait to see how the two dead girls, years apart, were connected.

At the beginning, it did feel like it drug on a bit before anything good happened. But once that passed, it was like one thing to the next!

Definitely recommend this book!

Reading Between the Wines book review #55/135 for 2022:
Rating: 4 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: All the Dirty Secrets
Author: Aggie Blum Thompson
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
RELEASES July 12, 2022!!! Get your copy today!

Sipping thoughts: Two deaths practically the same way just 28 years later. What is the connection? Who is the killer? Liza who is connected to both people who died immerses herself into this mystery due to her daughter’s relentless focus. Might I mention her daughter, Zoe, was one of the whiniest teenagers ever!! Just listening to her interactions with her mom made me want to scream. There are some red herrings in this book…or potential red herrings (wink)…that made it just impossible for me to really figure out who the guilty party was. When I thought I had one part of it figured out, Thompson through in another wrench. If you like those HS frenemies who grow up with secrets that they would kill for then this is the book for you. Without given anything away, I love how the ending is more realistic rather than making things fit so perfectly.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley, @aggie.blum.thompson, @MacMillanAudio, @MacmillanTorForge and @ForgeBooks for an advance copy of @AllTheDirtySecrets.

I was going to do 50/50 reading and audio with this one, but ended up on listening to 20% of it on audio! It was so well done. The audio was done with 2 narrators which made switching POVs easy to listen to. I loved the jump between Liza & Zoe's POV & especially enjoyed the 1994 chapters! I honestly did not like any of the characters very much, but it didn't take away from the story because I was so curious how it all tied together. While some parts were expected, there were huge pieces that really surprised me! Overall another well done book by Thompson!

I read and really enjoyed Thompson's debut, I Don't Forgive You, last year & it was also really good. Definitely recommend checking out her books!

Thank you Netgalley for this audio edition of All the Dirty Secrets by Aggie Blum Thompson.

Liza will be forever haunted by the loss of her friend who disappeared at a HS celebration years ago. Now Liza is an adult with a HS daughter herself and is devastated to learn that her daughter's friend has also disappeared in the same mysterious way. Is this just a bizarre coincidence, or are the two losses somehow connected, even after all of these years.

Thrillers and suspense novels are huge right now, which has to mean that authors are being forced to up their game. Without needing a sharp competitive edge, this would have been totally fine, but it gets lost easily in the crowd of it's competitors. I didn't really like any of the characters, which in this instance, made it difficult for me to care what had happened. And the story just felt a bit muddy? I had a hard time keeping plot points and characters straight.

Like I said, it was fine, but it didn't blow me away.

For fans of Big Little Lies comes an electrifying whodunit summer thriller set in elite Washington, DC by Aggie Blum Thompson—ALL THE DIRTY SECRETS. Two deaths, two decades apart. How are they connected?

The links that tie them together:
An upscale DC private school
Beach Week | Dewey Beach
The rich and privileged suburbs
Two deaths. Both girls.
Best friends of mother Liza (Nikki) and daughter Zoe (Emery)
Twenty-five years apart.
A close circle of friends who will do anything to protect the lies they have buried and their dirty little (big) secrets. A fitting title!

Where nothing is as it appears.

Liza Gold is a newly divorced mom who is on her way to a girl's weekend trip when she discovers her daughter, Zoe is caught up in a tragedy that is all too familiar to her own haunted past. Liza works at the elite prep school where her daughter, Zoe, and her friend, Emery attend. Liza also attended the same school.

Does Liza really know her close friends?

Twenty-five years ago, Liza Gold and her friends celebrated their high school graduation at Beach Week at a party on the beach, which ended in the death of their friend, Nikki.

Liza will never forget that night haunted by the tragedy. The death was ruled as drowning/suicide. However, what really happened that night?

Fast-forward to the present, and now Liza's daughter Zoe is also headed for Beach Week with her friends, and it ends in a tragedy at the same beach. Her best friend is now dead.

Zoe and Liza are not on the best of terms with typical teenager stuff and being newly divorced. Zoe had a secret friend that was older, and Liza did not know about her. That friend just drowned murder or suicide.

When history repeats itself, Liza and Zoe must work together to put the pieces together and try and determine what really happened. Is there a murderer among them?

How far will the killer go to keep their secrets? They could be hiding in plain sight. The only sure thing is that someone is lying and the truth won't stay buried for long.

Multiple plot twists keep the reader guessing all the way to the stunning conclusion, and the link between the mother/daughter friends comes as one of the novel's bigger surprises.

Flashing back and forth from 1994 to the present day, the author cleverly keeps readers in CHILLING suspense while building tension to the events leading up to both tragedies, a decade apart.

Some highly charged themes are addressed: rape, sexual assault, white privilege, murder, racism, and class.

A spellbinding tale of lies and deceit that unfolds piece by devastating piece.

AUDIOBOOK: I listened to the audiobook and the narrators, Hillary Huber (my fav), and Josephine Huang delivered an outstanding performance for all the voices.

My first book by Thompson and look forward to reading more. For fans of authors: Michele Campbell, Wendy Walker, and Kimberly Belle.

A special thank you to #NetGalley and MacmillanAudio #Forgebooks for an advanced audiobook copy to listen to, enjoy, and review.

I really loved this one- more twisty and even creepier than what I had come to expect from this author! Twisted kids are always a hit. Spoiled; rich brats, #metoo: very au courant Loved the narrator

Nikki died almost 30 years ago. Liza is a divorced mother of a teenager, Zoe, and they have a rocky relationship. When another death happens, the similarities unveil secrets from the past...
I read this as an audio book. The premise was good, and the narration was great. The story is told from 3 POVs in a dual time line, that was a bit hard to follow (although I'm sure it's better as a text copy). Check your trigger warnings on this one (white rich privilege, rape, violence, racism). It was advertised as a thriller, but I didn't feel like it was... It did however contain a lot of dirty secrets! It was a bit too long for my taste. I didn't love it, but I liked it.
I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Forge Books and MacMillan Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of the new book by Aggie Blum Thompson, beautifully narrated by Hillary Huber and Josephine Huang - 5 stars! I loved this author's debut, I Don't Forgive You (must read, 5 stars as well!) and loved this one as well.

Twenty-five years ago, Liza and her friends were celebrating the end of high school at Beach Week, but one of her friends didn't make it out of the ocean. Now, Liza is divorced and trying to reconnect with her daughter, Zoe, who is attending Beach Week with her friends from the upscale DC school they attend and where Liza works. When Zoe's best friend dies, Liza is horrified that history has repeated. Is there a connection?

This is a wonderfully-written, tense, fast-paced book that is tough to put down. Told in the two different timelines from different POV, I raced through it until the very last satisfying page. A wonderful mystery but also so many themes to digest - the elitism, classism, racism of wealthy, privileged schools; coming of age with all the peer pressure, especially now; how childhood trauma affects our adult lives; and even normal mother/daughter teenage issues. Highly recommended!

Wowza!!!! This book is amazing! It has everything a thriller lover could ask for….. LOTS of secrets, coverups, murder mystery, and an summer beach setting. I love how half of the book is set in Dewey Beach and jumps back and forth between the 1990 to present day. Every time I thought I had it figured out and I was so wrong! Such a twisty suspenseful book!

I listened to this as an audiobook and I was addicted! Every chance I got, I was listening! The narrators were spot on with they voices for the characters.

This addictive, compelling, and extremely thrilling book has placed Aggie Blum Thompson on my list for must buy authors. I will buying her previous book, I Don’t Forget You, because I need more amazing reads!

***** Many thanks to Macmillan- Tor/Forge, Macmillan Audio, Aggie Blum Thompson, and NetGalley for the gifted copy as it was provided to me in turn for my honest opinion.

Rating this 4.5 stars but rounding up to 5 stars.

Will post to thriller_book_sisters closer to publication date.

This is a perfect beach read for those who love “dirty secrets”.
The book is told in multiple POVs and it alternates timelines from the past to present. I felt like the book was repetitive at times and it fell flat for me. I really enjoyed the past storyline more than the current.
The premise is very interesting and the author adds multiple layers on top of it. Racism, privilege, and rape. There are multiple secrets that gives the book a certain vibe but for me I struggled with the story.
The narrators, Hillary Huber and Josephine Huang worked cohesively in bringing the characters to life.
You may love this book if you’re a fan of multiple POVs, Dual timelines, mystery, and a complicated family.

Special thanks to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the ALC.

📖BOOK REVIEW📖
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Does wealth come with benefits? Can money make you untouchable? They say it doesn't buy love or happiness…but maybe they’re wrong.

This psychological thriller exposes the wicked and superficial side of these wealthy and privileged characters. I’m always excited when a book hooks me from the beginning! But it’s impressive when the author keeps me glued to the pages throughout the entire book.

Aggie Blum Thompson has achieved that in this awesome tale of tragedy. Two teenage girls drown 25 years apart, at the same beach. It is a coincidence or something more sinister?

This is my second 5-star read by this excellent author and I highly recommend both books!

Thank you to NetGalley and Edelweiss for providing complimentary copies of this amazing ARC. All opinions are my own.

The book could defintely be shortened, and could possibly be moved to more of a YA book.

This book covered topics I was not expecting. White privilage, rich privilage, race/ethnicy, and sexual assualt. The author covered all of these in a great way and the story was well written for the most part (a little repetitive at times).

The begining of the book is a little cofusing on who we are talking about Nikki, Emery, Liza? But then once the storyline gets established it is wasy to follow along.

I was surprised a lot throughout the story- I knew kind of what was going to happen, but not how everyone was connected. I also find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have search under the dock in 1994 to find the body when she was last reported out in the water.

All the Dirty Secrets was a layered, complex, satisfying read which I finished in a day because it kept my interest. I'm a perimenopausal woman fighting a waning attention span so the fact this book kept me listening says a lot about the writing.

Told in multiple POVs the story involves the privileged elite in the DC suburbs, kids who have much but don't understand their plain old luck to have won the birth lottery, and the secrets behind generational attendees at a private prep school. As an added bonus for me the settings (and feel) were very familiar as my time raising my own kids took place in these same suburbs. That's always cool when you recognize a locale.

Celebrating graduation 25 years ago a group of these elites went to the beach but one did not return. Fast forward to the present day, and the same thing happens. This book was an onion. Just when you were comfortable guessing the plot, another layer was peeled and voila, the ride got bumpier.

I can't say I liked the characters because wealth, privilege, excess....all of it has gotten ugly in this timeline, but I can say Aggie Blum Thompson wrote them in a way that I couldn't turn away and wanted to know the outcome. Good writing.

As for the audio - well done narration helped move the story along and kept me inside the words. I'm getting spoiled with multiple narrators and both Hillary Huber and Josephine Huang were perfect readers for this novel.

Great beach read and one to add to your tbr.

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen in advance of the July 12, 2022 release date in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a very quick and twisty read that I finished in less than two days! I liked the fact that there were present day perspectives as well as flashback perspectives to really allow the puzzle to be fully pieced together.

The twists weren’t these big “wow” moments but there were a lot of unexpected aspects that kept my mind on alert. If you’re looking for a beach thriller, add this to your list.

This has some intense and heavy content so feel free to reach out if you want to know what those are.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the alc in exchange for an honest review.
