Not at all the kind of fantasy I usually read, but such a welcome change! As an avid player of D&D, I was looking forward to this book immensely - would highly recommend for anyone looking for a cosy read.

This was such a cute DnD inspired cozy fantasy novel! It was just what I needed right now. Former orc adventurer Viv decides she's ready for a change and sets out to open a coffee shop, even though no one knows what the heck that it. Between explaining what this strange Gnomish bean water is and remolding an old building, Viv finds all the right people to help make her dream a reality. It's full of lovely characters who become Viv's found family as well as a touch of sapphic romance. Just a wonderfully cozy fantasy read.

Absolutely loved this one.

A little slow to start, but overall so much fun.

I loved the characters, story, and world the author creates!

Perfect for anyone looking for a light fun fantasy read.

A barbarian orc quits her day job to open up a coffee show in a town that's never heard of coffee. Through this endeavor, she makes some real friends and creates a family of sorts despite outside forces trying to tear everything down. This is the softest D&D campaign that has ever existed and it's completely delightful. Viv is fascinating as a strong fighter, who is giving up her sword for something more domestic and her excited about coffee is a lot of fun. The other characters are equally well-developed beyond their initial purpose, except for the ratkin baker. This was the perfect read for me while I was recovering from covid.

I LOVED this book. It is sweet, lighthearted, funny, and all around a good cozy read. It was a quick read, but I enjoyed being immersed in this world so much that I was sad when it ended. The characters are well developed and it was fun getting to know all of them.

Absolutely would recommend to any one who is not BIG on fantasy, but wants to try a different sort of romance or to any one who likes DND and wants a fun little fantasy to escape with.

This was super cute. This is basically the story of what the adventurer does after the evil wizard is defeated and the princess has been saved. It's lighthearted and fluffy and would be a great read for someone who has never read a fantasy before and doesn't want to read something with a complicated magic or caste system.

Also, I'm pretty sure Thimblets are just biscottis.

Clever but thin. It's entirely possible that "cozy fantasy" just isn't for me, but I was fairly bored for about the first third of the book. It grew on me after that, but it didn't put down any deep roots that would take my assessment of it from "this is fine" to "I LOVE this". It's light and enormously predictable, which I know is a lot of the "cozy" appeal. The prose is competent but not extraordinary--nothing lush, nothing memorable, no particularly outstanding turns of phrase.

This book has everything. I usually don't read romances but this one just caught my eye and I loved it. From inventing the perfect coffee to learning what the hell cinnamon rolls are, to introducing alternative music to a bunch of fantasy characters, this book is perfect with every drop.

Just what it says on the tin--a sweet slice-of-life. Conflict is mostly interpersonal or economic. There are detours where systematic (fantastic) racism and sexism are addressed, which were not as cringeworthy as it should have been. It's exactly what my brain needed as a pick-me-up.

I was weary of this book at first but it is so so good. The characters are lovable and have a great dynamic together. It was easy to become invested and hope for a happy ending.

This is my favorite book of the year so far. Baldree has created a compelling page-turner that is both cozy and heart-warming. It feels like a warm hug! Also, the new short story provided in this edition has made me love these characters even more than I thought possible. I have been recommending this book to just about everyone since its original release in February 2022 and I will absolutely continue to do so with this re-release.

This was such a cute and quick read. Readers follow main character Viv who leaves a life of violence and blood shed to open a coffee shop in a city where no one knows what coffee is. I enjoyed reading about her journey and the friendships she made. This book emphasizes the importance of friendship in such a lovely way. Although this book was not the heaviest on attention grabbing plot, it does provide a cozy read with lovable characters.

Viv, a newly retired orc eager to put her marauding days behind her, has settled down at last in the city of Thune hoping to start on her next adventure. After buying an old livery she starts the gruelling work of starting her own business from scratch with help from unexpected figures along the way. The closer she comes to realizing her dream the more she finds that she has finally found her place in the world and is pleasantly surprised to find that the small group of friends she had made are finding their place alongside her.

Legends and Lattes is an utter joy to read and is best enjoyed with the hot beverage and baked good of your choice beside you!

I had a hard time getting into the story. The biggest issue is just that there isn't much that compels you to keep reading. It's very much a slice of life story about opening a coffee shop in a fantasy world. Usually with cozy mysteries or other "cozy" genres, the main factor isn't so much the plot but the characters make the story enjoyable. The characters in here were interesting but we never spend enough time with them to really become invested. I think I'm just not the audience for this title but I know this would be a great recommendation for someone who wants to start reading fantasy, it's a great way into the genre.

What a wonderful morsel of a book! Legends & Lattes is a cozy fantasy book about an orc named Viv who gives up a life of adventuring to open a coffee shop. She meets some people, spearheads the creation of coffee shop culture, has some complications, and learns a few things along the way.

This book is a sweet, fun, fast read. It took me less than four hours to eat this book up. The author neatly sidesteps veering into predictable tropes, and creates a cast of cool characters who I would really enjoy seeing again.

HINT HINT, Travis Baldree.

I kept seeing this title ALL over tik tok and was thrilled to be able to read it! It was unlike anything I've ever read, in the best way. I was a bit intimidated by the cover and the premise but overall I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be looking for more cozy fantasy novels in the future!

Retirement is the gateway to a whole new world of adventure for Viv, whose adventuring career as a swordswoman was both profitable and left her with a dream she is eager to achieve: running a successful coffee shop. While she determinedly pushes back against the pull of her old life in pursuit of her new one, she meets new friends and potential foes as tries to navigate the world in a different way, which was very entertaining to read as someone who is familiar with the conventions of the D&D-like fantasy world the book takes place in.

A cute and fun book, easily recommended to fantasy/fantasy-romance fans who like laid back stories with low stakes.

This is not your typical fantasy adventure! Viv, an orc fighter, is tired of the daily grind - hack, chop, scars, and blood are not exciting for her anymore. Following an old legend to an artifact rumored to bring good fortune, Viv ventures off to start a brand new adventure in the cosmopolitan area of Thune. She's going to open a shop that brings the gnomish elixir of "coffee" to the unknowing citizens. By working against all the stereotypes people hold of orcs, Viv establishes her business with the help of outsiders like her.

This is every content creators' dream - post something online, get attention from a bestselling novelist, and go so viral that a big name publisher wants to print your books!

Thanks to Netgalley and Tor for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Legends & Lattes was exactly what it said it was going to be. A low stakes fantasy novel about a retired adventurer opening a coffee shop. And it was exactly what I needed to read! It felt like the book form of a warm cup of hot chocolate (I don't actually drink coffee and I don't plan to).

Viv, the main character, decides to take all the wealth she's saved from years of fighting and exploring and start a coffee shop after discovering the gnomish drink while on her travels. She wants to leave her adventuring life behind, but it creeps back into her life in ways that she would rather it not. As promised, the stakes were low and there were no calamitous world-ending threats of violence or war, but the conflict is still perilous and had my emotionless heart feeling things. As well, I found the little romance on the side very cute and sweet, just like the confections baked during the course of this book.

All the characters that help out with the budding business were amazing, and the way that they all support Viv is truly wonderful. The only thing I would have liked more of is depth on who the characters are to make them feel a bit more real, but that's my only gripe, because I am a fan of really strong characters.

I definitely recommend it to any fantasy fan looking for something with familiar elements but still fluffy and easy to read!
