I do not like audiobooks. I find it annoying when a male or female narrator tries to do the voice of the opposite sex. I’d rather listen to an audio drama. Setting aside my normal feelings, I thought the narrator did a good job. I admit I’m a fan of the book series to begin with so I knew that I would enjoy that aspect of the audiobook. I thought Kate Carlisle did an excellent job with the characters, plot, and setting.

I have not read the other books in this series, but I plan to as it is just adorable. I think one could read it as a standalone because I did; however, I still think I might've gotten more from it if I had read the previous books. But when I saw the cover and title on NetGalley, I just had to read it. It was a plus that it was an audiobook and the narrator, Sara Young, was fantastic of distinguishing the various characters' voices which really helped to keep them separated and feel like they were real characters.

The mystery was set in an unusual place - a fundraising festival which made it more difficult at times for the investigative team to make their way through the crowds, rambunctious children, and all that an event such as this one would bring. Brooklyn was also fun to watch and see how her mind worked...somewhat random thoughts and ideas here and there but so fun to see how things worked.

I have to admit that did not know that this was part of a series, so had no idea of the characters. I did really like the story though. Makes me want to read the previous books in this series. I love a good mystery with likable characters. in a library too boot.

The Paper Caper is number 16 in The Bibliophile Mysteries by Katie Carlisle. Bookbinder Brooklyn is going to be demonstrating her bookbinding techniques at Covington Library, which is holding a Mark Twain festival. Part of the festivities include a contest to find a person who most looks like billionaire Joseph. In keeping with the theme of The Prince and the Pauper, the winner will trade places with Joseph for the length of the festival, and will also be awarded $100,000. The winner, Tom, moves in to Joseph's lavish home, much to the butler's chagrin. When the butler drops dead after opening the mail, Brooklyn can't help herself. She has to get involved in the hunt for the killer. I enjoyed this cozy mystery and I look forward to reading more of Katie Carlisle's book.
I was given an ARC of this audiobook by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the 16th book in the Bibliophile series but can be read as a stand alone. That being said, the book is a bit slow because the author spends the first half of the book bringing you up to speed on the background stories. I expected the mystery to begin early on but it just didn’t happen. Finally, when I was just about to give up, the story began. Maybe that’s just a common issue for book series that can be read as standalone. I would love to read some of the earlier books in the series where that’s not an issue because I found the author to be a talented writer.

Brooklyn is a book restoration expert who is married to a security expert. When they are invited to participate in a Mark Twain festival by a wealthy media mogul, Brooklyn witnesses a murder. She’s on the case along with her husband Derek. Can they solve the caper before anyone else gets hurt?

This book is the sixteenth (!) in the bibliophile series. I was expecting more and I think I over sold the book in my head before I started. I haven’t read any of the other books so a lot of detail was lost on me. It also seems like the author is over the series and doesn’t add more depth to the world or characters. It was a good book and if you want to do the whole series you may love this one but as a stand alone I won’t read it again.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a chance to listen and review this audiobook. Brooklyn and company are back to solve their 16th murder in The Paper Caper. I have not read any other books in the series and I do believe this could be a standalone. The lookalike thing was a weird idea for a Mark Twain festival and the characters were just over-the-top, like cartoons. The plot mystery was weak and a bit predictable.

Once again Brooklyn finds herself face to face with another dead body. Brooklyn is one of those lovable characters that has made this series a favorite. She is most comfortable in her jeans and Birkenstocks, her family owns a vineyard, and she is a true book nerd. Her down to earth personality with just a touch of quirky makes her very relatable. Brooklyn just so happens to have a hunky British husband named Dereck who may or may not sometimes cause the dead bodies to come into her path.
This particular story is the antithesis of the butler did it. 😉 The Twain festival angle was a fun way for all of the major players to interact. For the most part it was easy to surmise who the culprits were. The dynamics behind those choices was like a cascading waterfall. A successful addition to an already enjoyable series.

I received a copy of this title via Net Galley.

3.5 Stars. Fun cozy mystery for book lovers! This is set in San Francisco and centers around a library fundraiser - The Mark Twain Festival. This mystery is character-focused, and the book builds at a slow pace. I had not read a book in this series before, but had no problem picking this up and enjoying it.

I received an audiobook from NetGalley. In all honesty, I would rather read this book than listen to it. The narrator was okay, but I wasn’t a fan of her British accent. There were several British characters, so she used it quite a bit in the narration.

I may have enjoyed this more in book form. On audio, I felt like it dragged a bit and didn't hold my interest like I would have expected. The characters were interesting and well written and I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Though the writing seemed a bit stilted, I appreciated it enough to try another in the series.

Thanks to #NetGalley, #DreamscapeMedia, #KateCarlisle, and #ThePaperCaper.for the opportunity to review early in exchange for an honest revieThankyouw. It takes the book a bit to set up all the characters and places. Then it is maybe halfway through the book that the secondary character is murdered. I found it to be a very intriguing murder mystery and I didn’t figure who dun-it early. We all don’t find out until the end but it does make sense. Lots of times they just shove the person in at the end and it makes no sense.you will definitely nod your head and say I get it. This is another of Kate Carlisle’s always-has-you-guessing-to the-end mysteries. I love her work and always look forward to gobble her books up. Yes I will recommend this book to a friend and will add it to my collection. If you haven’t come across her earlier works, I would highly recommend. This one though makes sense as a stand-alone.

Brooklyn is a book restoration expert who is married to a security expert. When they are invited to participate in a Mark Twain festival by a wealthy media mogul, they encounter a big mystery--who killed the butler? While following their investigation, as well as their efforts to protect the sponsor of the event, we learn quite a bit about book restoration. I enjoy this series, with the well-matched couple and her quirky family. The action and story line are believable and set in San Francisco. Can't wait for the next book!

This review is for the audiobook version.

I was very disappointed with the change in narrator for this series. The new narrator has a good voice and I know I would like her work in a different series. I might have even liked her work in this book if she hadn't come after Susie Berneis, who really seemed to catch the personality of the different characters. Sara Young was closer in style to Eileen Stevens. The British accent was inconsistent (though better than I could do) and I found her interpretations of the characters to be off. (I don't know the author's intent, but Susie Berneis' interpretation matched mine more closely.) I found myself going back to the eBook after listening to the audiobook and reading (it in my head) in Susie Berneis' voice. I also found it very distracting that she changed the pronunciation for "Covington" from the other narrators in the series. It's the sixteenth book in a series and it felt like the narrator hadn't listened to or read the previous books.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the advanced listener copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was super cute. I just hopped into this series on this book and now I have to go back and read the backlog of 15 books b/c I liked it so much! I love their cat and that she loves books so much she's a book restorer! Plus she's got an ass-kicking hot husband and rich as sin friend. What's not to love? Can't wait to read more of this series!

Brooklyn Wainwright is a book-restoration specialist in San Francisco. Her husband’s friend and client is sponsoring the first annual Mark Twain Festival at the Covington Library.
Brooklyn will give demonstrations and teach paper art to children during the festival. Ger husband’s company is supplying security during the events and Brooklyn will join him each evening.
When Brooklyn witnesses a murder right in front of her she immediately begins to make a suspect list. She and her husband work with the police to find the killer as more people become targets.
This is the 16th book in the Bibliophile mystery series. I read the first book and enjoyed it. This book stands alone, but now I want to go back and catch up with the characters. The characters are developed nicely and realistic. This plot moves at a steady pace and is engaging. I recommend this book.

Another great mystery. I really enjoy seeing how the main character works at restoring books and the steps she takes and how she is able to share with the group at the event. I also can't even imagine having the children's activities at the library like they have there. I also enjoyed the mystery and was kept guessing.

The Paper Caper is a really interesting cozy mystery. The method of murder was entirely unique and I learned a lot and really enjoyed the novel. Kate Carlisle has a really great storytelling capability and her characters are both unique and entertaining.
