A cute beach read with interesting characters, secrets, and pottery classes all set in a charming Cornish town. I enjoyed the romance between Ruby and Gabe but it did seem to be missing a little "something". Gabe was a great guy who was fueled by loyalty and character. Ruby had issues with trust as her father was never one to keep promises and it affected most aspects of her life.

Even though this book dealt with a lot of family issues on both Gabe and Ruby's sides, it still had quirky characters and a light romance. It was an enjoyable read. I've read Donna Ashcroft before and I enjoy her writing. I'm sure I'll be picking up another book by her.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing me a copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

What a great light romance with a bit of mystery thrown in.

We join our main character on the Cornwall coast while she visits her grandmother, a local potter and teacher . She has a complicated relationship with her father , and learns her best friend’s baby’s dad isn’t who she expects. In fact, her friend isn’t sure who it is because he gave a fake name and ghosted her.

Meanwhile, nefarious things keep happening in the small town. And she also falls in love….but can she trust him ?

Will she get to the bottom of it ? Will relationships be repaired? Can she trust her heart?

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ability to read this delightful ARC.

I enjoyed this audio book. I listened to the audio book going back and forth from work. The different POV was nice to get into the characters head. Sweet romance with a touch of spice. The sub plots were interesting and I wanted to get back to the story so I could hear how the characters. This audio had a mystery going on as well.

Cozy mystery meets RomCom…..yup this story does it. Plus the narration was great! Ruby returns home to Indigo Cove to help her grandmother with her pottery classes. Once a passion, but set aside to focus on real life. Ruby has hardened her heart against love, disappointment for her disappearing father, lost of her beloved mother are all contributing factors. She meets Gabe during one of the classes her grandmother held and there was something about the brooding man.
The village and Gabe has been hit with a series of vandalism, mostly Gabe and the family brewery he runs with his brother…… well supposedly with his brother. The costs are adding up and the mystery only deepens. The only highlight is meeting Ruby, but she has her own trust issues.
The village comes together trying to solve who is behind the vandalism and there is a good moral at the end. First time author and will be looking forward to reading more. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #TheLittleCornishHouse

This was the perfect read for summer ! Although there was a bit of romance, it’s mostly women's fiction with open door romance scene. To be honest, the spice caught me off guard and I was totally not expecting that ! I loved the family dynamics and the family drama. As well as the hint of mystery it had. Overall I really enjoyed it and would recommend it for anyone that needs an escape from reality !

The Little Cornish House
Donna Ashcroft
The setting is the Cornish coast.
Ruby is a thirty-year-old accountant. She likes numbers they feel safe and predictable. She wants no drama, no problems and no men. She saw her mother live a life of disappointment; her father was always chasing rainbows. He would stay around just long enough break her mother’s heart…over and over again. Ruby cut all ties with her father; she refused to allow him or any other man to break her heart. Ruby returned to Indigo Cove when her grandmother called asking for her help. Ruby loves her grandmother and is determined to do whatever she can to help her save her home.
Gabe Roskilly walks into Ruby’s life; she wasn’t looking for a man and she didn’t want a man but the sexy, fretting proprietor of the area’s brewery stole her heart. Gabe is tall, dark and very handsome; he is also a twin. While Gabe is an honorable man his twin brother is very different.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book when I first started listening to it but soon it grew on me. Ruby and Gabe’s romance was sweet, romantic and yet seemed doomed at times. Ruby didn’t trust men; her father had made promises over and over and never kept them. Ruby was damaged emotionally. I loved her grandmother; she was feisty and very wise. Gabe was too trusting; he was determined to do what his deceased father asked him to do, “take care of his brother and take care of the brewery.” I didn’t like Gabe’s twin brother, but you will have to read the book to see why. Grandmother’s pottery students were delightful. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more books by author Donna Ashcroft.

Ugh
If this book had been a slow burn, closed door romance it might have worked. If it had been told from the Grandmother's POV and focused on her romance it definitely could have worked. The cozy bits in the pottery studio with the pottery class were great.

Unfortunately this was an open door romance about two terrible people banging like rabbits for no discernable reason. Every sex scene seemed ill-placed and out of character and was wildly uncomfortable to sit through. Everything about the leads made me want to punch them each in the face. In the third act "break up" the male lead says absolutely terrible things. If a real man said that to a woman you knew, you would encourage her to leave him for being abusive. But I'm supposed to root for that? No thanks.

2 stars for Grandma and her pottery hut.

There are a couple of mild sex scenes. Both main characters start out with some very rigid ideas about things in their youth and they both are living their lives according to those precepts. That makes them both pretty annoying at first but they do both change which is good. There is a funny granny who lives life in the fullest most carefree way she can. She has a group of friends called the Marples. There was a slight little mystery. It was short but pleasant. The narrator, Helen Johns, was very good, as usual.
Thanks to Netgalley.

This was a complicated read for me. I couldn’t connect to the FMC due to her unwillingness to respect the wishes of others or the MMC due to his blind stubbornness. I found myself frustrated though most of the novel. The saving grace was the supporting characters and beautiful setting for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

At first Ruby was a bit much for me. I’m so glad I stuck with it and with such great narration I found myself not wanting to stop listening and figure out all the answers to the mysterious things going on! Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media!

Such a sweet story! A rule following girl who likes stability goes to see her grandmother who helped raise her. The grandmother's life is anything but with her pottery studio and small village involvement.

With a dad who let her down often our main character has some trust issues with relationships, especially involving fathers. When she finds out her best friend lied and her previous boyfriend was not the father of her child, she sets out to find the father. During that investigation she meets a cute local brewery owner who helps her along the way. While this is going on there have been some strange things happening around town that are hitting a little too close to home.

This book has fun characters, intrigue, and romance. It is quick paced and there is so much going on that it makes you want to keep going. The characters feel whimsical and the small town vibes makes you laugh despite the inner turmoil going on. There are dual POVs and it makes its the characters very well rounded.

Overall, I would recommend this book. It is a sweet story and will keep you from being able to put it down. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book!

Sweet small town romance about family betrayal, learning to trust, and found family. I enjoyed the pottery angle and the characters were enjoyable, but this book was not memorable.

Wow! What a cozy little romance this was. I so enjoyed the storyline. It is a great mix of mystery and romance. Who is sabotaging the town and brewery? Why are they doing this? It was going through and the twists and turns till you get to the perfect ending.

I also enjoyed getting to meet all the characters and following their stories. I loved nanoo and Gabe. I am so happy to see how everyone made out in the end.

A perfect summer romance ! Thank you to netgalley and dreamscape media! What a treat

A fun summer read with a lot of drama and secrets to figure out. My favorite part by far was the pottery class and the characters involved.

Yes Ruby came to help out her grandma and had some definite daddy issues, but really I think this book focused on Gabe the most trying to keep the brewery afloat with the bunch on mysterious vandalism going on. Overall this book really dealt with family issues and had a light romance included.

I liked the romance between Ruby and Gabe, but it just seemed to be missing something, maybe that stronger initial friendship bond. They were focused more on other issues which did distract from the romance. Overall the book was a light even if predictable summer read that I did enjoy.

The Little Cornish House by Donna Ashcroft was a fun diversion with enough drama to keep those pages turning for me. At first glance, I figured that it would be a lovely, breezy beach read, but the more I read, then more I was impressed by the drama that was dredged up in the lives of the characters. It really touched on some important themes in the lives of so many as well, with the blood family versus chosen family discussion, as well as arguments in the discussion of whether or not people can change.

I highly recommend picking up this book. I am glad that I did, but now, I find myself wanting to move to a village where someone can adopt me as their granddaughter. Heehee.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC that I listened to.

This was a cute story about secrets and what some do to keep those secrets. Ruby is called by her grandmother when she is afraid she is going to lose her cottage. Ruby comes back to Indigo Cove to see if she can help and finds there is more going on than she suspected. Gabe, owner of the brewery, is trying to sell and he is being plagued by vandals. Is this isolated or part of a bigger problem. There is so much going on in this story from Ruby's estranged father to her best friend's crumbling relationship and finding out her boyfriend is not the father of her baby and wanting to locate said father. (Can you say daddy issues?) Gabe has a twin brother and he does not want to sell, or does he, and what does he have going on? Questions, questions, questions. Keep reading, keep listening, it will all come out in the end. Twists and turns, lots of them and don't forget the pottery class, that was fun!

The Little Cornish House is such a sweet little tale. I really loved Ruby who we could tell was trying to cope from previous trauma and also trying to be the best friend she possibly could. She learns some very valuable lessons and while it didn’t explicitly say it in the book I like to think forgiveness is one of the biggest one.

In this book we learn that family can both let you down and also learn how to change, too. It’s got a fairytale perfect ending to make all our hearts sigh with happiness. A wonderful summer read!

When life teaches you over and over that someone who makes promises they don't keep, should you ever give them another chance and does that mean that everyone should be held at arms length and eyed with suspicion? Those are the questions that our heroine must answer and decide for herself, but she takes along on the journey with her and it is an entertaining journey! Wonderful narration that really brings the characters and story to life. The characters are quite realistic and you quickly feel like an old friend rather than a reader. I must say that I quite enjoyed this sweet story of second chances or 500th chances as the case may be as well as when do you pull the plug on giving chances over and over again only to be slapped back down. The story was charming, witty, sad, frustrating and more with a happy ending to end on a high note after a journey of emotion and fun!

For fans of multi-generational women's fiction. I loved the Cornwall setting, the various characters and even the complicated family dynamics. I thought the main characters Gabe and Ruby had wonderful chemistry. I wasn't expecting their detailed love scenes but also wasn't bothered by them. I only mention because I know some readers are sensitive to that. There's a mystery or two to be solved and enough light humor to make this a perfect summer escape - my kind of escape!
I liked the audio narration by Helen Johns. She made listening to the novel such an enjoyable experience. She voiced each character with just enough nuance. I look forward to hearing more of her audiobook performances.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the version. A fun fast read. I really loved all the characters. The only ones I really didn't care for was the main female and her love interest. I just feel like the author just repeated herself over and over with them. They were more on the annoying side. But like I said I loved all the other characters. I loved the group that came together to find a passion with arts and crafts. There are some spicy scenes in this book. I was kind of surprised. The narrator did a good job. I would read from this author again
