This book was just precious, full of zest, and made me so incredibly hungry!

What Happens in Greece was a breezy story or a couple who moves to Crete, Greece from the UK to get a change of pace and live out one of their favorite vacations. Charlotte and Jamie are soon living the dream in sunny Crete from making new friends, exploring the town, and fixing up their home and olive grove. After a visit from friends from home, Jamie soon realizes that moving to Greece was not his dream and moved back to the UK leaving Charlotte to soon find that she was better off without him. She THRIVES. She makes even more friends, gains the support of the town and opens up the old bakery in town. Her success just further solidifies her choice to move and just how much truly loves this city. She even catches the eye of a favored local restaurant owner! Charlie truly owns the term of “living her best life”.

This book has been laughing, romancing Greece, and like I said before, it made me so hungry! So many beautiful references to the scenery and local food! And Charlie describing all of it made my mouth water. From flavors to textures to scents. I also loved the historical WWII references in the book as well. I really really enjoyed this book!

The audiobook was so great! Great narration!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the gifted audiobook in exchange for my review!

This book is exactly what it claims to be. It’s a ‘totally joyful and feel good summer read. Though I read it in the dead of winter and it was a nice warm pick me up sort of book as well.
Charlotte and her fiance, Jamie, pack it up in England and relocate to Greece. However, before long that fiance becomes an ex because he just doesn’t feel Greece is a good fit and Charlotte is in love with her crumbling Greek island farmhouse.
The previous year while they drowned their post-holiday blues Jamie had loved the idea of leaving rainy Chester behind and heading of to Crete. Now, though, it looks like Charlotte will be living out her dreams on her own. She’s upset but she rolls up her sleeves and begins working. She turns all her emotions into pure energy as she turns her run down home into her forever place. The locals are incredibly welcoming and her handyman just happens to be a very attractive restaurant owner called Darius.
Charlotte begins to realize that her life post Jaime is working out well enough. She sees promise in her new digs. Then she takes a trip back to Chester and Jaime informs her he would like her back but then there is that delectable Greek man and beautiful countryside home that she has been putting together. A whole new life. It looks like she has to decide where she wants to be and what life she wants to live.
This book was fantastic. It was a refreshing break from my usual thrillers. This sweet story is one you may not want to miss.
The audio book is also phenomenal. The narrator is absolutely perfect for this story. She brings all the characters to life just right.
I definitely recommend this book in either format. It’s just a nice, sweet, feel good story that should leave a smile on your face.

I did not complete this book. It did not hold my attention. It was so boring. It took too long to get into anything and I didn't care enough about the FMC to suffer through it.

The best thing about this book (besides the cover) was the descriptions of Crete. I want to sell my house and buy one in Crete now. However, I found most of the story lacking. I never connected with Charlie. Most of it seemed one dimensional.

I was not a fan of this one. I wish it could of been better than it was. The cover was very good and the synopsis was very alluring.

I really loved the writing in this book and enjoyed the story tremendously. It made me want to visit Greece even more than before. My only complaint is that it was kind of slow and boring at times.

This was my first book by Sue Roberts and for the most part, I enjoyed it.
I thought the narrator did a great job and it was easy to listen to.
The descriptions of Greece, the food and atmosphere were well done.
I liked how on board Jamie was to up and change his life as Charlie was so ready to do so.
I found it odd that it took almost half the book for the plot to reflect the jacket copy (Jamie leaving).
Overall however, it was an enjoyable listen on my commute to work.

After Charlotte and her fiancé Jamie buy a farmhouse in Greece, he gets cold feet and moves back home to England, leaving a shocked Charlotte on her own. As she renovates the run-down farmhouse, the village welcomes her with open arms, and she makes many friends. She might even find more than friendship with restaurant-owner Darius. When Jamie shows back up in her life on a trip home, Charlotte must choose between her first love and home versus her new life and a potential future with Darius.

This was a sweet, cozy women’s fiction story. Charlotte’s small Greek town sounded wonderful; I wish I could visit it! This isn’t the kind of story that is likely to stick with you for life, but it is perfect for when you are looking for some feed-good escapism.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Quick easy listen...nothing earthshattering, but cute romance in a nice setting. Thank you netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this audiobook.

This was my first Sue Roberts's book. Charlotte's story is sweet, and heartwarming. She is a wonderful character, strong, smart, and determined. I loved to follow her in her journey of life/love. The story is easy to follow and to listen to. The scenery is splendid. Esther Wane has a beautiful female voice. She did a good job with the narration. This is the perfect Summer read.

I did not finish this book. I got to 30% and realized it just wasn't for me. It definitely seems like a very fun and breezy read, but I didn't find much substance in it and when I'm one third of the way into a book and not finding that connection, I tend to not finish it.

There were a lot of beautiful descriptions of Greece and the cafes and the food, so that was really nice.

I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator so that may have influenced my choice to DNF. Nothing wrong with the narration, just wasn't my top choice.

I think if I had finished the book it would have been somewhere around 2.5-3 stars.

What Happens in Greece is not the typical type of book I read, I’m move cozy mystery or full romance, but this was more of a general fiction with a bit of romance. When Charlie decides to move from England to Greece in a whim, she’s not sure if it’s the best or worst decision of her life. As she makes a new life for herself in this new country, she finds herself at the same time. I found this to be an inspirational story and made me wonder what I would do if I was in Charlie’s shoes. Would I have to bravery to follow my dreams of living in a different country or would I settle for the so-so life I currently had? I really we enjoyed following Charlie on this journey in this well written book, full of vivid descriptions that made me feel like I was in Greece right along with her. I enjoyed the characters in this book and loved the setting. This isn’t my typical read, but I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an audio version of this book!

The cover of this book had me thinking it would be a cute romcom - unfortunately that wasn't the case and it did take me awhile to finish listening to it. It is very much a 'finding yourself' book with a very small side of romance at the end. While I enjoyed the plot idea, I did find it had too much fluff and was slow, overall it just fell flat.

The female narrator was good, but I think it would've been beneficial to have different male narrators to help differentiate the characters.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for this ALC!

I was disappointed in this book. The cover made me think that it would be a cute romance. Instead, you experience a broken long term relationship, the healing process from that break up, and then finally, the new romance. Book cover didn't match editorial in the story.

Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Sue Roberts for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

After reading so many thrillers, this was a good book to escape into and just enjoy the story. What Happens in Greece is very light reading with a sort of go with the flow plot. I felt this was more of a finding yourself type of book as Charlotte has to learn how to just be with herself. I will say I didn't feel like there was too much of a storyline so I found myself not really invested, but I think that's just what I needed. The narration was good, but I would offer constructive criticism and say that the voices of the male characters could use more differentiation. I found a couple sound nearly identical which didn't help me connect with them like in other audiobooks.
