3.25 for me this gets me geared up to read the whole. The funny banter and way of talking these characters do in some play at the breaking of the fourth wall is just fresh. I stick but this being a better thought out type book of the serpent and dove books.

I absolutely adored Little Thieves and I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous hearing that there would be a sequel because I didn't want second book syndrome. But after reading this sampler, I am more excited than ever - in this short excerpt, Owen has set up high stakes for the book, demonstrated the perilousness of Vanja's and Emeric's relationship, and shown humor in just the right moments. I am counting down the days until May 16th.

I literally cannot wait to see where this goes!! I absolutely Vanya in Little Thieves. In this little sneak peak we see how Vanya is struggling to be someone who is worthy of love (even thought we already know that she is) and to find her place in a world that has continuously put her down again and again. She is still the messy girl from Little Thieves and I can’t WAIT to see her grow and find her place. (And see her be with Emeric again!!)

Hilarious, witty, amazing banter, brilliant scheming, Margaret Owen is one of my favorite authors. I loved reading this excerpt and I hope that the rest of the book is equally as charming. I loved seeing what schemes Vanja was getting up to and I can’t wait to dive in and see what else she can do in this magical world.

Eagerly awaiting this book! Little Thieves was one of my absolute favorites from this year and this chapter proves that the follow up will be nothing less than just as amazing as the first!

I read the chapter sampler of this on NetGalley and I need the rest of it like, now. It's sooooooo good! I've been so excited for a sequel since I heard there would be one and reading this just amped my excitement through the roof. Here we have Vanja being Vanja (ie self-destructive and also accidentally starting a cult because of course she does) and then in comes Emeric being Emeric (annoyed and exasperated at Vanja and said accidental cult) and then things *really* start to happen.

The writing is just as gorgeous and funny as in the first book. I love it so much! But how am I ever going to wait until May now???

I cannot wait until May; it was an amazing sample. I absolutely love the author's language and her style, and how she creates the plot. I love the mythology of this story. Now I can only imagine what new adventurers' characters will find. I'm so excited to read the whole book next year after this piece of cake!

Margert Owen has done it again in this perfect follow up to the ending of her previous novel Little Thieves. Vanja had learned her lesson and decided to become a better person but in no short time she is back on her previous antics and goading the gods to teach her again. This sneak peak has caught my interest and I cannot wait for the full book to arrive.

Morally grey protagonist fans rejoice as it appears we can expect great and dubious things from Vanja in her next adventure.

I was able to preview a sample of the sequel to Little Thieves! Margaret Owen's knows how to transports you into a magical world. This sampler leaves me waiting for more! I can't wait until May!!

I LOVED Little Thieves last year and was so excited to read this sampler of the sequel. It was just as good as the first book and only makes me that much more impatient to read the rest of the book when it comes out next year!

It had all of the elements I loved from LT and more. Also, the first sentence of the first chapter being "Let me state one thing up front: I wasn't trying to start a cult." ICONIC. I 100% laughed out loud uncrontrollably because it is so Vanja. I cannot wait for more of Vanja and Emeric and just the witty fairy tale vibes that Margaret Owen brings to the table.

Painted Devil is a second installment to Little Thieves, which I have on my bookcase, so I read several chapters to prepare for this chapter sample. I am a character reader and I was hoping to get to know the characters. Unfortunately, the paragraph did not offer much in the the character study. However, the lack of character did not turn me off. I read the chapters in the first novel in the trilogy, so I know she writes great characters. I am looking forward to adding this novel to my collection.

This sample left me dying for more! Margaret Owen has a magical way of weaving a plot together with the most intriguing characters. May cannot get here soon enough!

It was amazing to be back in this world that Margaret Owen created. The opening chapter alone is so fun, witty, and entrancing. I can't wait to see what crazy situations Vanja gets herself into this time. I am also pinning for the upcoming swoon!
