I was extremely excited to read Wait for Me by Sara Shepard. I loved the Pretty Little Liars series growing up, but was disappointed in the harmful representation of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), which the main character did not have. DID was used a tool to explore past lives. Additionally, even if the main character had DID why would you captialize off of someone's severe childhood trauma? Furthermore, if the MC had DID this experience should be written by someone with DID. Lastly, Sara Shepard is a big enough author to have sensitivity readers.

The plot and cover of this book intrigued me from the first time I saw it right after the cover was revealed. This book was entertaining enough, I liked the almost supernatural aspect as well as the romance and mystery. This book was a pretty good mix of many many things. It was pretty fast-paced but I also feel like the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly.

Thank you so much, NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Casey may only be seventeen years old but she is already a college sophomore and is dating one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors. When she starts hearing voices, she thinks it is the stress of school and takes an impromptu trip to Avon, a small coastal town. The voices don’t go away and now she is seeing visions. She doesn’t know if these visions are trying to tell her something, but she does know that there is something about Jake that draws her to him. Will Casey discover why she has these voices and visions? Why is she pulled to Jake and Avon?
Wait for Me is a stand-alone romantic mystery. Yes … I did just make that genre up. This book does not fall easily into a genre and I could even be compelled to add supernatural to the mix. The story was easy to follow, but I feel that Shepard wrapped it up too quickly. One minute we discover a small piece of the back story and suddenly the book is over. Other than that, Wait for Me was a wonderful escape read that will satisfy many different reading profiles.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I tried to read this , I did. I love Sara Shephard and PLL but I just could not get into it. I tried multipe times.

When I saw that Sarah Sheppard, the same one from one of Pretty Little Liars, was bringing a new thriller, I was immediately on board.
And I really wanted to like Wait for Me, but things happened.
I couldn't finish it because one of my pet peeves in books happens.
I found the storytelling style interesting, when Casey has these sort of flashbacks, she uses present tense and straight to the audience.
Maybe it will be another time Ms Sheppard.

Loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Sara Shepard does a great job with building a mystery and I never know where the book is going!

Another book of suspense from the talented Sara Shepard. I am grateful for the opportunity to read this one!

First off, I love this cover. It's so gorgeous and plays well in to the story. Now, when I first stared the story, I wasn't 100% sure this book and I were going to get along. I didn't feel pulled in or understand the story. But pretty quickly, the first twist happens and then I was interested.
There were a lot of questions I had a long the way and, thankfully, they were answered. I didn't love the love story in this one, didn't feel completely immersed in the story, but I did find the story entertaining and found myself wanting to know the answers. The end was satisfying and adorable.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Thank you to Union Square & Co. and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
When I saw that the author of Pretty Little Liars had a new book out, I knew that I needed to read it right away! Wait for Me by Sara Shepard is a stunning blend of multiple genres: thriller, mystery, fantasy, and romance. Even though it's listed as YA, I think many adult readers would enjoy it also. The story revolves around Casey, who suddenly starts hearing voices and seeing visions of places she's never been. She decides to run away to a remote beach town where her visions lead her to a boy named Jake. She's never met him, but why does he feel so familiar? What could these visions be telling her?
Here is a chilling excerpt from the opening chapter:
"Time to grow up. TIme to let go. Time to forget your past and your winsome, blue-flame-hot first love.
...
But as you reach for the knob, you sense footsteps on the wooden walkway. You freeze just as a hand slithers around your waist. You're pulled backward, your feet lifting off the ground, your lungs suddenly crushed flat. You try to scream, but a hand presses over your mouth."
Overall, Wait for Me is a YA mystery that refuses to be categorized. First of all, I love this author and have literally read all of her books. This book just might be her most unique one, considering all of the genres that it includes. I was definitely surprised, but in a good way. One highlight of this book is how the book blends romance, thriller, mystery, and fantasy into a plot that makes total sense. Another highlight of this book is how all of the details came together at the end. Honestly, the book was masterfully planned. Sara Shepard was already one of my favorite authors, and I will definitely read any books that she publishes in the future. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of mysteries in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in November!

I have read most if not all of Sara shepherds books. And for the most part I really enjoyed all of them, but this book just wasn't for me. That's not to say it was a bad book, I just like more thrillers /mystery books. This book did have a bit of a mystery if you could call it that but it also had a bit of romance. The book itself was well written in the characters were very well developed, if you like romance with a bit of mystery this may be a book for you but unfortunately I just didn't care for it.

Sara Shepard always delivers. As a die-hard Pretty Little Liars fan, I went into this book with high expectations. This novel seemed so different from Shepard's prior work that I didn't know what to expect. In the end, this novel kept me guessing as I binged through every page of it. Wait For Me follows a college girl named Casey as she starts having visions of a past life. She becomes obsessed with figuring out what's happening to her and ends up in a strange town where she meets a young man named Jake that she believes her past self once loved. But as Shepard points out in her letter to the reader, this isn't really a love story. Shortly after connecting with Jake, Casey falls further down the rabbit hole. Mysteries continue to unfold and the reader is left questioning whether anything is real. I found myself completely engaged by this story. Casey is also written as a wonderful main character, who often comes off as an unreliable narrator, which kept me curious. The novel is extremely fast-paced and the ending comes to a natural and somewhat logical conclusion. I wish the book had been a bit longer, but I can't complain too much. This is an enjoyable read and a wonderful take on a semi-supernatural thriller.

This novel was very mediocre to me in many ways. First of all I didn‘t feel any connection to any of the characters at all, which made it hard to root for anyone. The story felt rushed at times and it took me a while to really get into the storyline.
However, I still very much enjoyed the plot and the mixing of genres (while the romance part was definitely in the background) which made the novel enjoyable to me. It kept me engaged and had me guessing till the end. All in all it was a solid 3 stars read.

Sara Shepard's books tend to be very hit (The Heiresses) or miss (Influence) for me. While Wait for Me falls somewhat in the middle, it was ultimately a miss for me. I loved the concept and the mixing of genres, but I had trouble following the dual narratives. I also didn't really connect with Casey, which made it harder to root for her.

Sara Shepard consistently knocks it out of the park with her characters and suspenseful plots. I really liked this story and if you've never read any of her books you'll really like this story. If you're a veteran Sara Shepard reader you'll still be into this story!

This was SO INTERESTING and had me captivated from the first page. There was even a moment where I thought, maybe it was all in Casey’s head. But I LOVED it. I need all the books featuring Past Lives ASAP.

For the most part, it was a good story and I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t anything that really stood out.

Thank you so much to @NetGalley for this ARC. I loved Sara Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars series, so I was excited to read her newest book “Wait For Me”. Casey is a girl who has started to get flashbacks/memories of something that she knows she hasn’t experienced. She then goes on a quest to figure out the truth of who she is and what has happened in the past. I felt that it was a good plot, and overall I rated it 3/5 stars.

Better than pretty little lairs series. I wanted to take a change on this author again. Because i did read the pretty little liars series which got to many books in my opinion but this book was simply better. Characters and all. The plot was a whole lot better too. I give this a 3.5

Thanks netgalley for the chance to read!
Casey always feels like she is playing the part of her life. She has the perfect boyfriend, a cool roommate at college, and a bright future. But what happens when another life’s memories began to overlap her daily thoughts?
I think the ending was a bit of a stretch but for. YA thriller? Teens would devour this. I like that she didn’t go cliche with the mental health aspect and was respectful.
I actually loved the last few pages too!

Wait for me was gripping, had me on the edge of my seat and coming up with scenarios in my brain, yet all of my guesses were way off.. it might be unusual but I love it when I don’t figure out what’s happening, so this was a massive positive.
The romance and mystery genres of the book seemed to compliment the plot and characterisation beautifully, it’s one that I’d recommend for ya readers, I feel as though I were a few years younger I would have loved it a bit more, it was very good though!
