This series has been a lot of fun and after seeing John throughout, I was eager to see how his story played out.

I really liked Charlotte and John. They're both good, loyal people who are sort of outcasts, only seen in society as two dimensional. Charlotte has had a bit of a crush on John her entire life and in quickly stepping in to help with John's problems does he see her as something other than his BFFs little sister. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these two figure things out.

Plot wise, it was mostly good. There's a lot a lot a lot of inner monologue and I thrive on dialogue. I wanted loads more talking between pretty much everyone, but especially Charlotte and John. At times, it felt like they were only scratching the surface of what was going on in their lives. The ending scene with Lulu was one of my favorites of the series and of course, the grand gesture was fantastic.

Overall, this has been a fun series and I can't wait to see what's next from Samara.

How to Win a Wallflower was a book that I had been looking forward to reading, and it didn't disappoint. I had been looking forward to John's story and also Charlotte's story after she appeared in her brother's book. So when they are matched together, all the better.

I'm a fan of role reversal, so it was nice that in this novel, John is the wallflower that needs Charlotte's help in trying to find a spouse, preferably an heiress, so that he can pull the estate that he inherited from his older brother, out of financial ruin. While Charlotte would be a good candidate, he obviously can't marry her, because she's his best friend's sister and his business partner's sister-in-law. Oh how wrong the two of them happen to be, especially since Charlotte's had a crush on him forever.

and that twist, I didn't see it coming. It made sense to the plot and all things. Which brings me to the fact that you can see how much Samara Parish's writing has grown since her debut novel, How to Survive a Scandal, a mere two years ago. Excited to see what stories she'll write in the future.

It’s been a long time since I’ve picked up an historical book but this one called to me and I’m so glad I did pick it up. I really felt like I was there living out what was happening in the pages.

Lady Charlotte Stirling is known for her charismatic personality, her numerous causes, and her lofty numbers of proposals - all of which she has denied. Although she has not seen him in years, she has fostered a soft spot for John Barnesworth since childhood, though she knows she cannot have him. When John suddenly inherits and moves back to London, he finds a mountain of debts left by his late brother, and is forced to consider an undesirable marriage to solve his predicament. As she is known to do, Charlotte rushes to John’s aid, and the two come up with a scheme that just might be fanatical enough to work!

Just by the title I assumed this would be a story of a female wallflower and some roguish gentleman, but NO! I loved that it was John who was the wallflower, and Charlotte’s constant kindness that helped him become more comfortable with London society. The scheme developed by the two was so fun, and there is a jaw-dropping twist that I never imagined coming! I cannot believe I waited so long to read this one!

Thank you NetGalley, Read Forever Publishing, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Thank you Forever and NetGalley for the eARC of How to Win a Wallflower! All opinions in this review are my own.

If you are a fan of the opposites attract and brother's best friend tropes, then you will love this historical romance!

I really enjoyed that this book has storylines beyond Charlotte's crush on John. Both of them have their own family problems that they must try to fix and by providing help and support, it shows how right they are for each other.

As much as I enjoyed the beginning of this book, the second half was really where it picked up! I loved the chemistry between Charlotte and John, especially when they concoct their scheme together. The twist and the obstacles that the characters needed to overcome in order to be together at the end were exciting!

How to Win a Wallflower was a great introduction to the Rebels with a Cause series (even though it is book 3) and I can't wait to read the first two!

I have been a fan of Samara Parrish since I read her first book.. After reading How to Win a Wallflower, I can state that I will be look forward to reading her future books!
John Barnesworth returns to London due to his brother's death and finds himself a Viscount and at the mercy of his brother's finance who expects marriage to a Viscount Harrow . Lady Charlotte is his best friend's sister who, seeing John's destress, desperately wants to help her brother's best friend who happens to be her girlhood crush.. '
The title is clever as one usually assumes in Historical Romance that the wallflower is a female character. Surprisingly, the wallflower is not Lady Charlotte, but our new Viscount, John. I love these unexpected twists that are out of the norm. We met him in the first book, How to Survive a Scandal , and felt for him as he dealt with a studder and social awkwardness. Lady Charlotte is a social butterfly who fights falling deeper in love with John while working earnestly to solve his myriad of problems.
I enjoyed this brother's best friend story with the introverted John and the extroverted Charlotte. I was behind their romance and engaged in their story. Samara Parish is firmly in my list of authors not to miss!. .

I enjoyed this enough to now want to go back and read the first few books of the series. I really liked the two leads

This book has the romance and sweetness that many fluffy regency books possess but it also has a strength with great characters that are both learning and growing separately and together.

Listen, I am the biggest Samara Parish fan and will keep shouting my love from her from the rooftops, but there was just something missing from this book. I wish we had gotten a bit more of a reminder of what happened in book two, since a good portion of the plot of this book relied on events from book 2 that I had forgotten about. I also had forgotten about our two main characters and wish they had been built a bit more three dimensionally.

That said, my least favorite Samara Parish is still leagues ahead of other historical romances. I loved the back half as things started to pick up with the plots, and I loved the self-discovery journey our two leads went on to figure out how they could still be themselves in a relationship.

Is it too much to hope for a Luella redemption book?

How to Win a Wallflower by Samara Parish is book three in the Rebels with a Cause series. This was a really exciting read and I hope to read more from this author.

This was my favorite book in this series, although I did truly enjoy them all. Samara Parish is now firmly in the must read category for me.
This story is full of angst and enough obstacles that I had a hard time putting it down.
John Barnesworth is back in London after living in America for a few years following the death of his brother. There is a massive amount of debt and the estate has been badly neglected. He will need to find a way to settle the debts and deal with the fiancee he has also inherited.
Lady Charlotte Sterling has been in love with John since she was a girl and she's determined to help him out of this situation.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

When John comes home to take over the dukedom after his brother passes he feels he can never recover from the debts his brother left behind. When Charlotte, John’s best friend’s sister finds out John’s dilemma she offers to help him by gambling his way out of debt. As the two spend more time together and reveal more of their troubles John and Charlotte end up falling for each other by sharing their deepest selves. Can John and Charlotte end up back in the green and publicly declare their love at last? I loved that John was a scientist and not just some disgruntled duke trying to make his way. I also loved how Charlotte helps other wallflowers and sticks to her ideals whether frowned upon or not. A perfect historical romance with dynamic characters and plenty of steam!

I have been on a huge historical romance kick lately and was thrilled to read a novel by bookstagram loved Samara Parish. However; How to Win a Wallflower was not a hit for me as I found the plot to be dry and repetitive. I enjoyed Parish’s writing style and the many characters that she writes into her novels. Thus, I will try another Parish novel and hopefully, I will have a different opinion.

Charlotte is the sister of a duke and she is a lady.; however, she clearly enjoys doing behavior that isn't deemed ladylike such as gambling and sneaking into a bachelors house. As a reader, you can't help but like her and feel sympathy for her when she doubts herself being worthy of John.

What I liked about this book is that you expect the wallflower to be the female character, but it's flipped and it's actually John!

I received a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

How to Win a Wallflower is a little over the top at times, but I liked the adventurous spirit of Lady Charlotte Stirling and John Barnesworth is a worthy partner. The chemistry is decent and the backstory is interesting. I liked that there was room to grow in the series. There is not much wallflowerery and the ending was silly yet plodding with a predictable and pleasant ending.

I tried multiple times with this installment but I couldn’t get myself to finish it. I disliked the first book, enjoyed the second, and now I’m irritated by the third. I liked Charolette before so I was looking forward to her romance, but I do not believe the MCs are compatible even though they have some chemistry. The plot and subplots took away from the romance too much. Also? What happened to the on-page steam since book two?

Thank you to the publisher for the advance reader copy via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

This is the third book of Rebels with a Cause series but my first by this author. It's an opposites attract, brother's best friend trope story with a slow-burn romance. After his older brother dies, John unexpectedly inherits his title. He returns home and soon discovers the financial mess his brother has left behind. He is also faced with a betrothal contract that obligates him as the new viscount to uphold. Charlotte has always had a crush on John, and now that he is faced with such problems, she is more than eager to help him. She might also have an opportunity to win his heart in the process. John now notices Charlotte in a new light and he finds himself drawn to her. Charlotte is such a kind and generous character, always putting other's needs before herself. John helps her realize she needs to take of herself and her happiness as well.
The characters were likable and I enjoyed getting to know them and following their story. This was a lovely story and I enjoyed it. I would love to read more books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Thank you NetGalley for an enjoyable. John came from America after years of being away to take the title and the debts on of his brother. He has a duty to put the title in order and get good stewards so he can return to his own life in America.
Lady Charlotte has not married maybe waiting for John to return. Her brother fells they are not suited to each other but Charlotte has been attracted to John since she was small. He needs money to put things right and her dowry is not enough. They work up a scheme to get more money so he doesn't have to marry for money. The more they fall in love the more trouble they find themselves. I don't want to give the story away but it is an interesting read with a different ending. You must read.

Parish really gave us brother's best friend, opposites attract, disability rep, and a third act twist that I didn't see coming - all in less than four hundred pages.

How to Win a Wallflower has been my favorite Rebels with a Cause book, and I highly recommend this one to all historical romance lovers. While Fiona and Wildeforde (the main characters of book two) do make more than a few appearances in this book, readers can definitely enjoy John and Charlotte's romance without reading either of the first two books in the series. However, for those who do read the first two books, Parish does an excellent job at including little details and references from those books that anyone new to the series might miss.

I adored Charlotte as a main character. As the sister of a duke, Charlotte was raised to be a lady. But she wasn't above doing some very unladylike things, like sneaking into a bachelor's home, gambling, and enjoying some very scandalous things in a hackney. Despite Charlotte's popularity in the ton, I loved that Parish gave her doubts when it came to whether she thought she was good enough for John or not - because she believed he deserved someone more intelligent than her. Not more connected, not richer, not prettier, but more intelligent.

This historical romance was definitely on the less conventional side, since the titular wallflower was, in fact, the male main character. With plans to disappear into the wilderness with just his passion to invent to keep him company, John was definitely a different kind of leading man. But he really was the perfect foil for our very social heroine.

Between excellent characters, a sweet and daring main plot, and an unexpected twist that could easily undo everything John and Charlotte worked so hard for, How to Win a Wallflower immediately made its way to the top of my list of favorite Samara Parish titles.

Review 4.5
“Only a coward gives up on love because they’re afraid life may not be perfect.” How to Win a Wallflower by Samara Parish
John inherits his brother’s title after his death and he must return to London to settle his brother’s affairs. He soon realizes the finances are worse than he could have imagined. John also finds that he must also follow through his brother’s proposal with Lady Luella, whose dowry would cover his debts and more. Luckily, Lady Charlotte, who has crushed on John since childhood, has an idea to help him out. The pair enter a gambling house to win enough money to settle John’s debts but soon discover they must resist growing feelings for one another.
This was a great brother’s friend, opposites attract, social butterfly/wallflower romance and I loved it! Charlotte has been enamored with John since childhood and he to returns, no longer seeing her as his best mate’s kid sister. I enjoyed seeing their relationship growing and ultimately, John no longer being able to resist Charlotte. I feel like they both brought out the best in one another. Charlotte made John realize that he was more than he was led to believe he was. John helps Charlotte that she can seek her own happiness without having to please others first. Though they are different in many ways, their differences complement each other. The third act break up and twist was not expected. However, I’m pleased with how it played out and that we got our HEA. I really enjoyed this book and loved this love story. I’m sad that this is the last of the series, but I do need to go back and read How to Deceive a Duke. Thank you Forever and Netgalley for a digital copy to review and Forever for my gifted copy!
