Abi and Jo have been friends since school and only one incident long ago had caused a rift between them. But then Jo was asked to be the God mother of Abi's son and they have been closer ever since.
But now almost 2 decades later someone is threatening Jo and Abi and some ugly incidents keep occuring in Abi's life. As they wonder if anyone from their past is involved, things take a turn for the worst when a body is found.
Gripping and well crafted.

Nicola Marsh is amazing at writing the psychological thriller trope. This newest novel did not disappoint. So many unexpected twists and turns! I felt like I would be onto something and then the story would veer in the opposite direction. I love that, I love being caught off guard, especially in this genre. Would definitely recommend.

While I enjoyed this book, the plot twists were just a bit obvious and the ending left a lot to be desired, that said it kept me gripped and I read in one day

If you’re after an intense thriller full of suspense, this is a must read!
There is a very clever storyline at play here, the twists and turns will keep you entertained and guessing! So much revenge, jealousy and the sadness of obsession, a terrific book about the darker side of lifelong ‘friendship’.
The main characters are strong women, the storyline is great and so realistic!
Jo and Abi are friends who share everything, the good and bad of life’s choices.
An engaging, fast paced read with a perfect and shocking ending!

Thanks so much to Bookouture, NetGalley and the wonderful Nicola Marsh for the opportunity to read this superbly written book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jo and Abi have been best friends since high school. Sure, they had a falling out when Abi slept with Cal, Jo's crush, and got pregnant with his child at 17, but everything got fixed. Now, almost two decades later, Abi and Cal's son, Rob, is off to college, and with Cal who hasn't been in the picture, Abi is ready to find someone to share her life with, but as soon as she meets Noah, she starts receiving threats...
With friends like these, who needs enemies? This is told in dual POV (Jo and Abi) and dual timelines (now and then), but it's easy to follow. I didn't trust any characters. Jo calls herself Abi's best friend? How immature is she? IYKYK. This thriller with a touch of mystery contains many twists, a real page turner with a satisfying ending.

This is a great example of dark and twisty grudge riddled domestic thriller! Abbey and Jo have been friends for years, but there are past behaviours that just can’t be forgotten! Told from multiple POV which I love, it kept me intrigued right to the end - just a tad slow at times xx

I got this ARC from @Netgalley and because I still can’t figure out how to get those e-books onto my kindle, I read it off of my phone, which took a little more time then I would have liked.

This book creeped me out, right from the beginning. Something happens between the two MC’s right away and then we’re lead to believe that everything is hunky dory. So because I’m from a world where grudges are a real thing, the main relationship was unbelievable to me from the start.

I love multiple POV‘s though, and supper timelines, so that kept me enthralled and I also truly appreciate characters that you cannot always trust.

THE EX BETWEEN US By Nicola Marsh

Jo and Abi have been bestfriends since high school, Jo is Abi's son's godmother too. They have had their share of ups and downs. Rob ( Abi's son) goes off to college, Abi pretty much brought him up without the father Cal( Cal being Jo's high school crush). A new man enters Abi's life just around then. Soon after weird things start happening with Abi as well as Jo.

😊What i liked -

✔ Psychological Thriller, though while reading it you feel it may not be.
✔ I liked how the chapters kept flipping from present to past and back to present.
✔ The book gives you both Abi's and Jo's POV.
✔ I loved Jo's character buildup. A very complex character. My heart did got out for Jo quite a few times in the book.
✔ I absolutely loved the way the book ends.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ Even though I enjoyed the book, I found it quite slow. I kept wondering when the book will pick up.

So the last three books I read were all debut novels so I was surprised when I went into this one that the author: Nicola Marsh has written over 80 books and has sold over eight million copies. Much different! Usually I shy away from authors who have written so many books since mostly they are just book mills, churning out book after book preferring quantity over quality. But spoiler: This book isn't one of those.

Abi and Jo have been best friends their whole life. Even through high school when they fell into a fallout when Abi had a drunk night and accidently slept with a boy that Jo had a serious crush on. Abi ultimately ends up getting pregnant and she and Jo have a huge fall out. But when Abi asks Jo to be the godmother of her child all is forgiven and Jo ends up giving up her life to switch towns with Abi to help her raise her son.

This one is domestic suspense on steroids. It's a slow burn as we see nothing is at seems and there are grudges and jealousy galore as this one plays out until a fiery ending. I usually like more murder and mayhem in my books but this one turns pleasantly evil. Nicola Marsh doesn't sleepwalk through her 80th book. This one is well written and has a ton of polish as it's obvious the author is firing on cylinders between her and editor to get a quality book out.

This book is two best friends with their own interior motives which play out until the author nails the landing. It's fairly predictable but the ending is so chilling the slow burn is worth it. It's a brutal ending as characters get taken to the woodshed. It is perfect to read on the pool or beach.

So great book but I'm not going to read all 80 of Nicola Marsh's books. Maybe just half of them.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was the first book I've read by this author and I'm definitely going to be reading more now. What a great book this was, it had all the elements that you need for a gripping, suspenseful thriller and I genuinely lost a night's sleep as I couldn't put it down, the whole 'just one more chapter' thing, didn't work for me though 🤣

What a roller-coaster of a ride we were taken on, it was fast paced, adrenalin fueled, with a blinder of an ending and a cast of fantastically flawed characters.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

A deliciously twisty tale. Abi and Jo have been best friends since their school days, with the exception of a short time after Abi betrayed Jo by sleeping with the guy Jo was crushing on and getting pregnant. But after the baby was born and Jo become godmother they patched things up. Now that baby is all grown up and heads off to college and Abi starts dating a new man. Both women are receiving strange threats and it's hard to figure out who is behind it all as things escalate to a a real humdinger of an ending.

I really love Nicola Marsh, her books are excellent.
And if a book keeps me guessing, that's even better.

The story is such that you have to read it and not bother trying to guess what's going to happen because the twists and turns will make the story believable, and the pace of the story definitely makes you read on.
I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down.

If yo are looking for a book with a strong story, believable characters, and keeps you reading til daft o clock at night get this.

I recommend this

This book was very timely as I am about to become an empty nester myself like Abi the protagonist. Unlike her though I’m not caught in a bizarre partner swapping triangle, where over the years Cal bounces between her and best friend Jo like one of those bat and ball on a string.

Their friendship has survived the betrayal and is now stronger than ever, with Jo being there to support Abi as her son Rob heads off to college. After all no man is worth losing a friend over is he?

This has two of the most hard headed determined women and if they joined together they would be a force to be reckoned with. With them both seemingly in danger I was trying to piece together the clues to find out who was making their lives hell. Was it the men that were now part of their group?

I am pleased to say this is all about what is hidden. It is duplicitous and evil in it’s intent with no one being who they appear to be. After all a smile can hide a multitude of sins……

Jealousy. Revenge. Obsession. Pranks and sabotage that are ratcheting in intensity. The question as to motive is definitely something one might wonder while reading this incredible psychological thriller by Nicola Marsh.

There is Jo and and there is Abi. At least one of them is unlikable from beginning to end in this addicting read. Both are the victims of sabotage. Determining who is responsible leads to that question of motive. How far will it go?

The story itself begins when Jo’s son Robbie leaves for college. Jo and Abi were best friends during their school years when something that had lifelong consequences ended that friendship, leaving Abi furious with Jo. However, Abi eventually forgave Jo, and became Robbie’s godmother. Even more, Abi moved to where Jo, Robbie and his father Cal lived, and became an extended member of their little family. For eighteen years, Abi and Jo seemed as close as two BFFs could be. With Robbie leaving the nest, Jo stretches her wings, pulling away from that little family unit. She considers what it is she really wants. Who she really wants. Going to any means possible to get what she wants. Meanwhile, Abi has a new man in her life named Noah. While on the one hand both women might seem on the course of happiness, there are those threats that are affecting each of them.

What a compelling read! Oh, the surprising twists and turns in this utterly engaging novel! With incredible pacing that led to a shocking ending, this book was truly thrilling and impossible to put down. Perfectly titled, perfectly executed, Nicola Marsh has written another winner.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Abigail’s (Abi) son, Rob, is heading off to college which makes her sad as she will miss him so much. His father, Callan, is out of town on yet another photo shoot. When Abi and Callan met in high school, she ended up pregnant. Although they never married, they stayed together to raise Rob. Now, Callan is rarely around and there is no love between them.

Abi’s parents died three years ago leaving her very wealthy. Abi has a job as a fashion coordinator for a film studio.

Abi’s best friend, Jo, is Rob’s godmother and loves him dearly. Sadly, she was never able to have children of her own so has been very close to Rob. Jo works as a dog groomer. And then there’s Tom who is best friends with Callan and whom Jo has had a crush on for many years.

Abi and Jo became friends when they were children. Jo’s mother was a dancer and wanted both her daughters to do the same. However, Jo just did not like to dance but her sister excelled.

When Abi and Jo go out for drinks the night Rob leaves for college, Abi meets a man named Noah and they have a nice time getting to know one another.

I really wanted to like this book and kept hoping something really big would happen. Something did happen but not to the degree I felt it should. Abi and Jo and some other characters act like they, in their mid 30’s, are still in high school! That was the annoying theme in this book that kept me shaking my head. I’m sure many will like the book though so do give it a try.

This is a page turner of a story a real psychological thriller, my mind was twisting and turning with everything that happened, two friends since high school Abi and Jo they wanted the best for each other and kept no secrets, or did they?

Abi stepped up and supported Jo on the first day they met and a friendship grew and grew strong they were there for each other, then at a party in their last year of high school Abi did something that would change things, Abi became a teenage mum and although it took some time Jo could not ignore her son Robbie and became Robbie’s godmother and again they were there for each other and life was good.

Although Robbie’s father Cal has been around he is not there all the time and now Robbie has left for college Abi is alone expect for Jo and it is time for her to start moving on, meeting a guy at a bar starts things changing Noah is attentive and soon Abi is feeling good about life, that is until things are starting to go wrong for Abi and Jo is getting threats as well, who is doing this?

This one kept me re-thinking over and over again, there are twists and turns from the start, who is behind the threats and problems? But more to the point why is this happening to these two friends? And the ending wow, really this is a fabulous story and I don’t want to give too much away, but I do highly recommend it, Nicola Marsh knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seats, don’t miss this one.

My thanks to Netgalley for my copy to read a review.

Hard to put down and riveting! The Ex Between us kept me on my toes, kept my fingers turning the pages and left me with a satisfied smile on my face!

Abagail (Abi) and Jo have been best friends since they were in school together. They have always been there for each other, except for that one time in high school, but since then they have been there for each other. How wonderful to have had a friend for so long, someone who has seen you go through so many changes in your life, the ups, downs, good times and bad.

Abi's son, Rob has just left for college and both she and Jo are sad to see him go but happy for him to chase his dreams. Abi has pretty much raised him as his father, Cal is a photographer who is never in town. He is always chasing the next photo opportunity. As Abi and Cal ended their romantic relationship, she is open to beginning a new one with Noah, a thoughtful and nice man she just met.

Then Jo gets a threatening message, then Abi begins receiving threats as well. Who would want to threaten these two women? Why and why now?

Well, well, well, this is a fun and twisted one!!! Talk about being captivated! I found this book hard to put down and just the right mix of drama that I was looking for! There were quite a few twists in this book and one that I was not expecting at all!!! Talk about being shocked. That is how you do it! Just when I thought this book couldn't get any better, Marsh blew me away!!!! Well done!

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced, quick and entertaining read. There where multiple narratives. The book hooked me in right from the start. It’s a domestic thriller about friends, relationships, betrays and secrets. The ending is unexpected! I Recommend it if you enjoy thrillers with twists.

Nicola Marsh has written a great tale centring on two women Abigail and Jo who have been best friends since their high school days. Abi and Cal's son Robbie is now off to college. Abi and Cal had a one-night stand years ago when Cal was every girl's school crush, including Jo's at the time. Jo and Abi had a falling out but Jo came around when Abi, who missed her, asked her to be Robbie's godmother.

With some great characterisation of characters who aren't as they seem, The Ex Between Us is well plotted and deeply intriguing. It's tense and the ending is a delicious and chilling one, following on from a steady trot. Very highly recommended, I look forward to Nicola Marsh's next novel.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
