A fun duo of stories about the Flynn brothers, Rory and Aiden. Both looking for wives at a country house party. The stories are fun and enjoyable. The bothers, as well as their respective mates, are characters!!! I will definitely recommend this book.
Thank you Kathryn Le Veque, Alexa Aston, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

Scandal and Romance

It was the ball of the season, and the Sinning Flynns were sure to be present. Where they were, scandal was sure to follow. There was a reason they were called “The Sinning Flynns.” Could there be romance, and might there be marriage? One of them was set on revenge, and the other was told he must marry in two weeks. What would happen at the Stag Ball? Could two Sinning Flynns find love in one night? It would be challenging, indeed. There were bad reputations to overcome, secrets that must be revealed, and unsupportive families that must be subdued.

This is an entertaining Regency duet. There is love, secrets, hope, and redemption. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to lovers of Regency romance.

I really like both of these authors and was excited to read a sort of joint effort from them. This book is made up of two interconnected novellas. The first tells the story of Aidan Flynn and Lady Larissa. Aidan needs a bride within the next 2 weeks to receive a bequest from his grandfather the Duke. Lady Larissa needs to be engaged by the end of the night of the infamous Stag Ball (put on by the Duke) to stop her father from wedding her to the old and icky Lord Langdon. Both Aidan and Larissa are concerned about their familial reputations marring their chances for marriage. They have a meet cute prior to the Ball, and by the time the Ball begins, Aidan is sure he loves Larissa and wants to marry her. Of course he doesn't tell her this right away, and confusion ensues.

I normally love Alexa Aston, but I had some trouble connecting with this novella. The insta-love trope is not one of my favorites, especially love within the space of 24 hours. The writing felt a bit corny, for lack of a better descriptor (but sweet). I also wasn't sure I believed how quickly Larissa was to get naked with Aidan, given her worries about reputation. I did enjoy watching Larissa grow stronger and I love a good epilogue. 3.5 stars for this novella.

The second novella is the story of Aidan's brother Rory and Edie. Rory attends the Stag Ball to enact revenge on a man he believes wronged his family via ruining one of the man's daughters. His plans are derailed, however, by a chance encounter at the Ball with Edie Rissington (not one of the daughters he planned to ruin), who has come to the realization that her married paramour is not the man she thought he was. The meeting between them is sweet, and sets off insta-love. This story does get more than 24 hours, though consummate rogue Rory was in love and ready to marry Edie the very night of the Ball. Instead he has to deal with the unscrupulous former love and familial disapproval before he gets his girl.

I enjoyed this second novella more than the first. However, it did seem a bit rushed at times. I didn't believe that Edie could be so blind to her paramour's faults for 2 years, even after he essentially tries to rape her, yet seem so intelligent in other parts of the book. There also were some continuity issues between the two novellas. For example, in the first story, Rory has already seen the Duke before Aidan arrives. In the second, Rory has yet to see his grandfather, I would give this novella 3.75 stars.

My rating for the book overall would 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This duet gives two stories from two talented and amazing authors. This book is the combination of two scintillating stories that are connected and feature the youngest two Fltnn brothers, Aiden and Rory.
In One Magic Night by Alexa Aston, Aiden is set to inherit Larkhaven from his grandfather, but in order to do so, he must find an appropriate wife and marry within two weeks. Larissa has not had an easy time of finding a husband due to her family's reputation. She is also under pressure now to marry, and Aiden sees this as an opportunity for both to benefit. This marriage of convenience faces its own challenges before love can conquer.

In Sin Commandments by Kathryn Le Veque, Rory is out for revenge. He has the worst reputation of all his brothers, but lives by honor and loyalty. He has an opportunity to exact his revenge at the Stag Ball, but before he can do so, he meets Edith. Edith has been caught up in a man's lies. She finds out what a true scoundrel he is, but her reputation is spared when Rory rescues her. Given his reputation, Edith should stay far away from him. But neither can deny the strong attraction they feel for each other.
Two very captivating stories brought together in one magical book. This is one you can't pass up! The stories, the characters, all very well-written and well-developed, I couldn't put it down. I'm very anxiously looking forward to hopefully another duet by these very talented authors!
My thanks to Dragonblade Publishing and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my voluntary and honest review.

This was a VERY interesting concept. Two different writers bringing to life the same characters. And it worked!

I really liked that different authors voiced Rory and Aidan. Because they were very different characters. But clearly these authors collaborated closely, because they got the similar (but not exact) tone perfect. And they provided enough historical background for the other character that I was very comfortable sliding into the next story.

A+ for this concept. And the stories were nicely done. Of course, you have to suspend some disbelief and go with "love at first sight," but all fiction requires some suspension of disbelief. It gets a 4.5 rounded up to a Netgalley 5.

Alexa Aston by One Night of Magic
I love both of these authors and their story about two Flynn brothers Aidan and Rory both of them attending the Stag Ball. His grandfather promises him the family estate Larkhaven if he finds an appropriate woman. One night of magic has Aiden using the Stag ball to find a wife. Lady Larissa Warren is in similar dire need her father will marry her off if she doesn’t find herself a husband. A perfect marriage of convenience for them both, but the heart wants as they fall for each other.
The Sin Commandments by Kathryn Le Veque
Rory Flynn, the youngest Flynn is out for revenge and seduction. As he sets out to ruin Lady Edith “Edie” Rissington. She’s not quite what he was expecting and he becomes drawn into her world of secrets. I love both of these books they have adventure, smoldering passion, and romance to last a life time as the sinning Flynn’s enter the Stag Ball and let the fun and games begin. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

A new release written by two amazing authors? Yes please! This book is the combination of two connected novellas involving the youngest two Flynn brothers - Aidan and Rory - as they attend The Stag Ball each of them searching for something and a scandalous night which leaves them both forever different!

"One Magic Night" by Alexa Aston comes first in this book.
This story features Aidan Flynn and he is on a mission and has chosen The Stag Ball as the location to find his future wife. Aidan has always tried to stay out of trouble and not to behave as a rogue. Now he has been given an ultimatum - His grandfather has promised him Larkhaven if he finds an appropriate woman and convinces her to wed within the next two weeks. Lady Larissa Warren comes from an outrageous family they lack morals and could even be considered as salacious reprobates - which has caused her trouble in finding a husband. Larissa has been told to find a husband at The Stag Ball or her father will arrange a match with the OLD Lord Langdon. It almost seems like fate brings these two together for the perfect marriage of convenience. However, Alexa Aston is the queen of making her characters suffer a “bit” before they can say “I do” — this is one magical stag ball neither Aidan or Larissa will forget! 😉

Novella two is “The Sin Commandments" by Kathryn Le Veque
Hang on for a wild ride as Rory Flynn takes you on a journey of vengeance, seduction, and planned ruination - The Stag Ball will never be the same! The Flynn’s are not always looked upon with kind thoughts, in-fact society doesn’t really like them. Rory Flynn, the youngest Flynn, is at the top of many peoples list as the most depraved, salacious, libertine, who is an unconstrained rogue and a great risk to any young miss and her precious virtue. Society and The Earl of Exford are about to get a true taste of Rory and the infamous “Sin Commandments” as Rory sets out to ruin Lady Edith “Edie” Rissington. However it’s with quite a shock to Rory when he finds himself inexplicably drawn to his would be target and unexpectedly becomes entrenched in her world of sinful dark secrets. Will these two get their happily ever after or are some sins beyond forgiveness?

These two stories work very well together and each plot keeps you totally engrossed as you wait for the next shoe to drop. There is definitely chemistry between the MCs in each novella; however, the overall heat level is pretty modest. The world building and character development is handled very well for novellas. I am guessing there are additional stories featuring the Flynn family and I will be looking for them.

Overall rating 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 3 Flames 🔥🔥🔥

Sin Like Flynn by Kathryn Le Veque and Alexa Aston is a collection of two connecting novellas. When King George III awards Cornish smuggler Sean Flynn, descended from an Irish pirate, an earldom, Society is shocked. Sean falls for Lady Amy, the Duke of Savernake’s daughter, and she jilts her betrothed to marry him. The couple have four scandalous sons. The two eldest sons thrive in the smuggling industry that eventually turns legit. They eventually settle down and cease their scandalous ways. The two younger sons have yet to settle down. The Duke of Savernake’s Stag Ball is about to be held. This event has been known to result in engagements by the end of the night.

Aidan Flynn is no rogue. His grandfather has promised him Larkhaven if he weds in the next two weeks. Lady Larissa Warren comes from an amoral family, which has caused her trouble in finding a husband. Her father has given an ultimatum: she must become engaged at the Stag Ball, or she will marry the old Lord Langdon. Aidan is instantly drawn to Larissa, but she is unsure if they are a suitable match.

Rory Flynn is bent on vengeance. His family is hated by Society. The Earl of Exford, the man Rory’s mother jilted, has largely been responsible for the smear campaign. The Earl will be at the Stag Ball with his daughters, and Rory plans on compromising the eldest daughter to humiliate the Earl. Rory’s plans are derailed when he encounters Lady Edie Rissington. Rory feels for her unlike he’s felt for any other woman. He is determined to prove to Edie and her family that he will put his roguish life behind him for her. But Edie has a past of her own that gives her pause.

I absolutely loved reading these novellas. They were both so much fun and I adored the chemistry between both couples. I hope to read more about the Sinning Flynns!

Enjoyed this duo of short novels - slightly more fond of Kathryn Le Veque's writing style so I found that story flowed a little better for me but in general I found them well matched and I liked the format!

One magic Night -Alexa Aston
Love can come in an instant. That was all it took for Aidan Flynn to fall for Larissa Warren. Bumping into her on the street, he did not realize she would be the one. But wonderful things take place at The Stag Ball, like a love to last a lifetime. Two families of horrible reputation, some earned some misguided. Though plagued by the name of the Sinning Flynn’s, Aidan never truly fit his families rakish history. He truly is the kind, loyal gentleman that Larissa hoped for. Their love story may have been quick, but it was full of goodness and a magical love to build a future on. I especially enjoyed the bond between Aidan and his grandfather, the Duke. They loved each other immensely and it was beautiful to see Aidan care for Doo through the end.
The Sin Commandments
The wildest Sinning Flynn tamed by a virtuous lady. Edith Rhodes has always been impetuous. She made the mistake of falling for an older, married man. Despite the efforts made to protect her, she met him one night behind a tavern. Though nothing truly happened that night, her reputation and self-worth were ruined. It takes meeting Rory Flynn for her to realize she is indeed worthy of real love. Flynn has spent his life searching for something, losing himself in his vices and putting on an air of indifference. But one chance encounter with the impetuous Edie and he is a changed man with purpose. I greatly enjoyed watching the change in Rory. Especially his acceptance from his grandfather. Realizing that he was always loved. That connection between the two men, made for a beautiful story arc. I can fully envision Rory and Edie’s happy life surrounded by the family they love.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Two great novellas from two of my favorite authors in one book! First is Aidan Flynn and Larissa - each needs to get married right away so they can either make someone happy or escape an arranged marriage.

Aidan finds out that his beloved grandfather does not have long to live and wants him to get married so he can see the marriage. Larissa has known for awhile that her "father" is not her biological father and treats her as such. If she doesn't get an offer of marriage at the Stag Ball, then she will have to marriage an old guy chosen by her father.

The next book is Rory Flynn who has a terrible reputation but he falls for Edie who has a pretty bad reputation for a virginal young lady of her time. They both have acceptance issues and when they meet, they start having to work through their feelings.

Both books were great and I loved that we got a glimpse of the deWolfes in the story!

Aiden and Rory Flynn, the two younger brothers of the Sinning Flynns who have set society abuzz with their misdeeds, find their way to love and happiness in this boxset. In One Magic Night, Aiden has already found the woman he wants to marry but does not know her name or where she comes from, apart from the fact that she was in distress. Coming to the rescue Flynne solves her problem and waits for her to make her appearance at his ailing Grandfather's Stag Ball. One cannot but help to fall in love with the gallant hero and when his opportunity arises to dance with Lady Larissa Warren, he discovers that the attraction is mutual. Nevertheless, there are a number of hurdles to overcome before love can have its way, not the least of which is Larissa's vicious father. The couple finds aid in unexpected quarters and Larissa's finest moment comes when she is finally able to stand up for herself, and fight for the love that she most dearly wants.

In the Sin Commandments, Rory Flynn has an ax to grind, and the opportunity to exact revenge comes on the night of the Stag Ball, with his Grandfather's blessing. However, before he can carry out his intentions, he first has a foolish damsel to rescue, and holding Lady Edie Rhodes in his arms causes all plans of revenge to evaporate. Edie has made some serious mistakes and just when it would seem that she is about to receive the answer her heart longs for, she discovers that it was all a scam and that the man she trusted was the worst sort of scoundrel. Being rescued by Rory Flynn, one of the most disreputable of the Flynn brothers, Edie is torn between her mother's exacting requirements and the feelings Rory arouses in her heart. In his fight to gain the trust of Edie and her family, Rory discovers that there is more than one way in which to carry out his quest, although I found his methods rather extreme.

I received a copy of this boxset as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

My two favorite authors in one book have given us two amazing stories!

One Magic Night by Alexa Aston
Aidan Flynn must find a wife at his grandfather's Stag Ball in order to inherit property he and his grandfather both dearly love. The Stag Ball is held yearly and has a reputation of multiple engagements happening on this night of magic. Aiden finds much more than magic when he meets Larissa.

The Sin Commandments by Kathryn LeVeque
Rory Flynn comes to the Stag all to exact revenge on the man who has bad mouthed his mother and his family for years. Before he can enact his plan of revenge he rescues Lady Edith Rhodes in the garden. There is instant chemistry between Rory and Edie, and as they start talking together they share secrets they have never shared with anyone else.
I totally enjoyed the many Easter eggs Kathryn incorporated in her story. Many familiar names from her other stories, such as de Wolfe, de Lohr, de Winter, and Wellesbourne. What a treat!

Alexa and Kathryn, I hope you will join forces again to give us more terrific stories like these two!

A story in two parts about brothers and their loves and adventures.
One by Alexa Aston , the other by Kathryn Le Veque , both really good and great reading.

This was different in its presentation, and it’s partnering of these two great writers. And it’s very nicely done.
I throughly enjoyed reading both books and loved the brothers exploits and journeys.
I adored the grandfather who seemed to really understand where his offspring were coming from.
Wonderful stuff, so grab a coffee and enjoy.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Kathryn and Alexa have presented us with a fantastic page-turning adventure of the two youngest brothers of the Flynn family. Called the Sinful Flynn’s for numerous reasons they find it difficult to manage the ton. Luckly for them, they have the most understanding grandfather in the Duke of Savernake. What crazy adventures they have lived and now it is time for them to settle down. But finding the right woman proves to be an issue for both. I so enjoyed the adventures they survived and wish that there could be more tales to be told by this family. Thanks for the delightful reading adventure.

Two stories about two scandalous Sinning Flynn brothers. Even though the stories were seperate and by different authors, you couldn't tell since they went together so well in style and overall plot events.

I really liked that the Stag Ball event happened in both stories, but you got a bit of a different perspective from each Aiden and Rory's points of view. The ladies, Larissa and Edie, in both stories enhanced both plots and romances very well. All of the main characters had troubled pasts which made it into quite the redemption story and kept it interesting.

I enjoyed this quick romance and hope that similar joint duets are done in the future!

Thank you to Dragonblade and Netgalley for providing a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

Sin Like Flynn by Alexa Aston/Kathryn Le Veque. A duet. Two brothers. Two stories. Their mother had broken her betrothal to a lord and run away with the father, Sean Flynn, an Irishman and a pirate. They had four sons. The betrayed lord, still burning from the scandal, had spent 30 years defaming their family. Hence the Sinning Flynns, not that they had done much to disprove the nickname. Rory, the youngest, was a rake, a very wealthy rake, and he had earned it himself. His two older brothers had cut a swath through London with their debauchery and he appeared to be following in their footsteps. They had both married and settled down now. Something Rory did not plan to do. The third so, Aiden, was cut from a different cloth. He took after his grandfather, the duke, and was more sensible and hard-working. He did suffer the same reputation, however. And his grandfather surprised him by how frail and unwell he looked, and when confronted he told Aiden in would be dead shortly and he wanted to leave Aiden on of his properties, but only if Aiden would be married within two weeks. The annual Stag Ball, which he threw every year, usually ended with multiple engagements being announced and it was tonight. Could Aiden manage it? Larissa had been told by her “father” that if she didn’t come engaged tonight, he would settle it tomorrow. Lord Langdon would be here to sign the betrothal papers. Lord Langdon was 60 years old and had had four wives. She and her maid when to the modiste’s shop where was the most beautiful dress in the world waited, but the modiste would not release it as the bill had not been paid, for the entire season. Larissa ran running from the shop in tears, right into Aiden, who pried the story from her. He was smitten and after seeing her off went in and paid for the dress, and promised payment for the rest. She was surprised, but thrilled, not certain who had paid for it. Her father hated her because she was not his but the love child of her mother and the man she had truly loved. Could Aiden convince her to marry him? Could it happen soon enough?

These were two terrific stories as one might expect given the two authors. They didn’t really rely on one another but happened pretty much simultaneously. The Flynns were both excellent characters for a romance: handsome, wealthy, hard-working, and faithful. If they could convince someone to look past their family’s reputation, all would be well. Larissa had lived a miserable life, mostly because of her “father.” She hadn’t had much of a relationship with her mother, either, who had been let down by her parents when they forced her to marry Campton. How different her life could have been. This was truly a love story. Rory’s was a little more contrived, with him being attracted to a woman who reputation was a bad as his. He dealt with the entire situation expeditiously, though. This was a good read. I liked it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Sin Like Flynn by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #dragonblade #alexaaston #kathrynleveque #sinlikeflynn

What a delightful set!

These two novella-length romances are each terrific by themselves, and together they make a book you don't want to miss!

"One Magic Night" by Alexa Aston is up first. A serendipitous, chance encounter between Aidan and Larissa changes everything for them both. Larissa is being forced to find her own husband at that evening's ball, with dire consequences if she fails. Aidan isn't wanting to marry, but his dying grandfather makes him an offer he can't refuse. The chances of them figuring out how they can help each other before the ball ends are slim indeed, but one should never discount the power of hidden allies and instant, intense mutual attraction.

I loved the way this story played out, and I really admired Aidan and his approach to problem solving. Larissa thought she was in too precarious a position to take the risk with his family's reputation, but Aidan was determined to not let anything stand in his way. Their HEA was splendid, even with the expected loss that soon followed.

The second story is "The Sin Commandments" by Kathryn Le Veque follows Aidan's brother, Rory, as he plans to exact revenge on their mother's behalf at the same ball. I really loved the little "Sin Commandments" that headed up each chapter, and the insights they gave to Rory's plans.

Rory rescues Edie from a potentially scandalous situation during the ball, and immediately his focus shifts to figuring out why he's no longer interested in his initial plan for revenge due to the strong magnetic attraction he feels for Edie. He's got a lot of convincing to do, to himself and to Edie and to a couple other people as well, and I absolutely loved how this process got him to reevaluate all his priorities. Edie has to learn to trust her own judgment again, after a series of disastrous mistakes, and I loved how she found her safe place in Rory's accepting and determined heart.

Their HEA neatly assured us that justice had been achieved for both of their targets, and it was accomplished in a much more ethical manner than Rory had first planned. I loved that it was set a full year later in a very fulfilling epilogue.

I wish there had been more of a cohesive crossover feel to these two stories - Rory and Aidan are brothers, after all, but they barely interacted with each other in either story - but aside from that, the stories are wonderfully developed and were very charming to read. I highly recommend this book/set for anyone who loves historical Regency romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

One Magic Night - I am a huge Alexa Aston fan so I was excited to see something new from her. None of her books have been a disappointment and this was no exception! I was hooked from page one and had trouble putting it down. I could not wait to see the romance between Aiden and Larissa unfold. You definitely have to go all in on the "love at first sight" trope to get into this story and I 100% did (afterall, we don't read romance for their realistic qualities). Larissa has pretty terrible parents, especially her father which is why she has no problem accepting the truth about her parentage. I liked that her mother had a few moments of redemption even though she didn't really reconcile with her daughter, but I loved her real father (how different would her life had been had he been the one to raise her?). Aiden's grandfather's requirement that he marry quickly is a both selfish and just the push that Aiden needed to start thinking about his future. Their first meeting couldn't have been anything other than fate, so it's pretty clear they are meant for one another. And when they do fall in love it's with both of them knowing about the rumors surrounding each of them and not caring about any of that. This whole story is just so wonderful and makes for a great read.

The Sin Commandments - To be completely honest, I was not a fan of either Rory or Edie at the beginning. Having just read Aiden's story I didn't like the way Rory talked about him and I didn't like that Edie was still fawning over a man who was obviously bad news. It wasn't until they met and started to realize they needed to change the course of their lives that I changed my mind about them. From there the story got interesting and I found myself more engaged in what was going on with each of them. They too ended up being a perfect couple and were more than willing to overlook one another's pasts in exchange for a future together - especially since neither of them was really in a position to be judging the other. I also really liked that those that had wronged these characters got their punishment without other innocent people being hurt.

The night of the Stag Ball, Rory meets his destiny. Lady Edith Rhodes has been caught up in a man's lies for years. Fortunately she hasn't been compromised, yet.
