This story makes great connections to kindness and how it makes others feel. However, I am hesitant to utilize this book in my practice as a school social worker because the discussion of being a bully is not accurate. Anjie considers throwing a bottle at a classmate and the teacher states, “Don’t be a bully.” Bullying is defined as repeated, targeted behavior. Therefore, I do not want to perpetuate the idea that bullying can take place with one action. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced readers copy!

This book tells the story of Anjie and Abbey as they learn the importance of being kind. Over the course of the story, the children are reminded by their mother of the idea that kindness is a reflection of who you are and what you want for others. Through their mother's lessons the children learn how not to be a bully. This is a great book for young readers interested in kindness and bullying. There are some great messages and this book would fit well in a classroom library or in lessons related to being kind. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!

Being kind is being honest. The intent of the stories were great but they felt long and unwieldy.

And it could have been written in a less complex manner.

What I did like is the representatio and of course, the intent of the massage behind it..

I think the version I downloaded was incomplete. There were no words and the story didn't quite flow.

I liked the story and the message it promoted: if you have to be anything be kind. As an educator, I feel it is an important lesson for all students. I appreciate the ARC NetGalley.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

This book had such promise, but didn't live up to it. The message of always being kind is obviously a good one, but the book promotes that over other values - such as personal space, standing up for yourself, and being able to care for yourself before others.
