Kelly Armstrong has done it again with her new YA thriller! And while I’m no longer a teen I loved this book! Which didn’t surprise me, she is one of favourite authors after all.

This novel had me hooked from the very first chapter and I couldn’t put it down until I finished, the only issue I had was, the next book in this series( I’m guessing it will be a series, there are still some unanswered questions) isn’t out yet.

This book makes you think about what really makes you well… you? And how far can people go to change that? Is it nature or nurture?

This book gives darkest power series vibes minus the supernatural aspects, which I loved ( that was my favourite series when I was a teen) I would recommend to anyone who loves an extremely amazingly written thriller/ suspense/mystery novel, that grips you and doesn’t let you go until the very end, then makes you want more!!!

10/10 thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random house for the ARC!

"Do you want to do something bad ?"

Blythe, Gabrielle, Tucker and Tanya have always been close until the Incident that caused a rift between Blythe and Tucker and their parents decided it would be best if they kept their distance. After all, Tucker is the bad boy in the group right? Shouldn't be trusted ? Then why is it sweet Gabrielle who is found covered in blood in front of their deceased principal, with no memory of what happened?

Why is Blythe's little sister having nightmares about fires? And why is Gabrielle obsessed with cameras?
Blythe wants to believe that everything is normal but when she starts receiving emails from Veritas, exposing one of her friend as a murderer, she realizes something else is going on here and suddenly no one knows who can be trusted.

This was a perfect YA thriller. Highly recommend to 13-16 years or older. This was my first book from Kelley Armstrong but I will be definitely reading more!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC copy!

This is exactly my kind of thriller. Focused on the psychology and relationships, without being too slow. A mystery to figure out, without a surplus of impossible red herrings.

This book follows Blythe, a teenage girl that loves following the rules. Blythe witnesses her friend have a mental breakdown and attack a teacher. The next day, she's met with memory loss and gaslighting at every turn.

Blythe and her band of (dysfunctional) friends investigate, but surprises lurk at every turn. It seems like everyone has a skeleton in their closet, no one is fully trustworthy, and every relationship is one reveal away from toppling.

For Blythe, she's in situations where it might be worth it to break the rules, if it means getting to the bottom of this web.
In the beginning, loved this book because of the characters.

Blythe and her best friend have recently had a mysterious falling out, and I was curious to see what it was. As the plot unfolded, it hooked me and kept me in its clutches until the very end. This book weaved together the relationships and the thrilling attacks perfectly.

This book deals poignantly with themes of what shapes a person (their memories, how others treat them).

I really liked the starting plot of this book, however I could not get past the main character and her dynamic and couldn’t finish the last 50% of this book.

Whew this was a wild ride! Something is not right in this friend group- nightmares, memories missing, stories that don’t add up but no one could imagine what is really going on. When Gabi seems to have a breakdown it all starts to unravel and there are more questions than answers about the company all their parents work for and who runs their school. When does science take things too far? Where is the line on scientific moral responsibility? It was a great read!

This thriller was so interesting and weird and twisty. I love the science side of the thriller. It was interesting having a psychology type story and background. Really did me make me question the whole nature vs nurture thing

DNF at 28%
I received an arc of this book and I really wish I could have gotten farther through it, but frankly I can’t. I can’t make myself care for the characters and there isn’t much flow. The story up to 28% felt stiff and I reread several of the early chapters, but still wasn't sure what was going on or why I should care. This isn’t for me, but I think others will like it.

Compared to other books by Kelley, this one was meh.

I struggled back and forth if I should continue this book. It took until the half way mark before I was finally hooked in.

Blythe (Bliss), has a tight knit group of friends. Tucker is 'bad influence' of the group. His sister is feisty I love her standing up for Tucker with Blythe's parents. Then there's Gabi, who's suddenly having these mental breakdowns without reason/cause.

Gabi is late to class, not a big deal. The big deal is when she storms in, starts freaking out over being watched and then is taken to the VP's office.

That's when things get fuzzy. Blythe ends up with memory issues. It seems weird from a concussion. You keep getting this feeling that there's got to be more to what remembers vs what she's been told.

I have to say that this book does have gaslighting moments, which was triggering for me. So do keep that in mind if that's a trigger for you.

This wasn't my favorite by Kelley. The first half I had to push through and the second half is when I was finally grabbed and get those thriller vibes that only Kelley can give.

If you want thrills her Aftermath book is AMAZING. If you want YA, the Darkest Powers and Sea of Shadows are so worth the read.

I am a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong. As usual for her, this book is well written and keeps you guessing. I enjoyed it, but I got overwhelmed by the number of characters and backstories, the switching between characters. The advance copy I got was not well formatted, and I know that interfered with the ability to follow the dialog and character switch.

It wasn't my favorite of her novels, but I did like it and am appreciative of the advance copy.

Wow, this book really kept me guessing until the end. This is a great YA thriller that kept me interested until the final page. The whole premise of the book is like nothing I’ve read before. Pretty early on you know that something strange is going on. The characters are behaving oddly and having flashes of images that they can’t explain. The way the plot unfolded was very interesting and even when I thought I had figured it out, I had not. Would definitely recommend.

This was a surprisingly fun read. I'll admit - when it started, I thought What is happening? Oh geez, I don't think this is for me but the more I read, the more into it was I was. This isn't my typical genre, but I enjoyed the ride.

So lets be clear - if you're thinking of picking this up because you've loved one of Kelley Armstrong's other books/series (for me - it's A Stitch in Time), you should know that woman writes a TON of books and that this one probably isn't like the other one you loved. That being said, she knows how to keep things interesting and keep you guessing until the very end.

I almost gave this one 4 stars just because it was so creative, but I think it's better off as a 3-star just because I don't have the same love for it as I do for my 4-star books. I will definitely keep picking up this author though.

Kelley Armstrong knocks it out of the park again with her new thriller, Someone is Always Watching, that is sure to enthrall both teen and adult readers alike. From its ominous title to the twisty developments within its pages, this book keeps you turning the pages to the very end.
The core group of young characters are compelling and sympathetic as they wade through discovery after discovery of their pasts and how the adults around them have been keeping them in the dark. The book examines motivations - both benign and sinister - and the relationships that bind us.
Readers may get a sense of déjà vu if they have read any of the books in Armstrong's Darkest Powers series, which also centres around young people discovering secrets about their pasts kept from them by sinister adults. This theme does seem to be developing into one of Armstrong's favourites. However, this novel remains firmly in the realm of real life and not the supernatural as in the previous series.
Regardless, #SomeoneIsAlwaysWatching is a well-written, fast-paced, thrill ride of a book that is well worth a read. As with all of her YA books, it not once talks down to the target audience, and remains complex and yet easy to read. Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC.

Pretty good, definitely one of the best YA thrillers I've read in a while. Bold, entertaining, twisted, it's all there. The characters were a highlight to me. I'll happily read more from this author in the future.

I really liked this one! I flew through it in one sitting. Blythe et all were interesting characters, and the plot took something so common (a mental breakdown - but why?) and explores it and its aftermath so well. However, the clues are a bit heavy-handed - though this is a young adult novel, so I can't hold that against the author too much. Overall a quick, interesting read!

This fast pace book will quench the thirst of any teen mystery fan. This book keeps you guessing until the very end and the plot is intriguing. Give this to any fan of a Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. Ms. Armstrong is a very strong writer and the characters are written that you, the reader quickly wants to know what happened to them. It is nice to see her writing YA again and can be introduced to a new audience. Those adults that like her Rocklin series or her Rip in Time series.

I received an ARC ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, Penguin Random House Canada in exchange for an honest review.

This book is perfect for fans of A Good Girls Guide to Murder. Not only are the characters fueled with teen angst and drama, they are also living through horrific flashbacks and current traumas. This sci-fi, psychological thriller is a real page turner. Fast paced, easy to read and will have you questioning your ideas of right and wrong.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. *Tip: I know a lot of people were complaining about the digital galley copy being hard to read. I discovered that by reading it on my kindle, instead of my phone, it was a lot easier 🙂*

Do you want to do something bad? One phrase was all it took to bring good girl Blythe and bad boy Tucker together. Of course, they’re just the best of friends though, right? Joining their friend group is Gabrielle who right from the start of the book is acting erratic and is incredibly paranoid-especially of the cameras in every hall and classroom of the school. Both girls are experiencing migraines that cause them to carry around more aspirin than any one person should needs. In a sort of manic episode, Gabrielle murders the VP of their school and Blythe is just outside the door, hearing the scuffle. When she bursts in, Gabrielle attacks her too, but neither remember anything after the fact. Blythe begins seeing things-will she figure out what’s happening to her before it’s too late?

An old friend group, split up by an act of violence find themselves intertwined once more.
Told from multiple points of view, this story takes us on quite a journey. Between lies, secrets and deceits, who can you trust if you can’t even trust yourself?

I absolutely loved this! Fast paced, easy to read, an easy to understand and interesting plot that was both exciting and kept you guessing til the end! I expected purely a thriller, but I wasn’t disappointed with the sci-fi-esque elements thrown in! Highly recommend picking this one up!

3.75/5 stars! I have loved Kelley Armstrong's work since her Darkest Power trilogy. I was really excited to get my hands on this book. This creepy YA thriller is for fans of "One of Us is Lying," and "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder." I really appreciated the premise and the majority of the follow-through. However, it fell into the realm of unbelievable by about the halfway point. If you like thriller books where you can suspend reality, you'll enjoy the fast-paced trajectory from that point. If you find yourself frustrated by that twist, you might not enjoy this.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. I love a psychological thrillers so I was really interested in this one. To be honest, I got about 30% in and I just was not super invested in the story. I really wanted to finish but I just found myself lacking the motivation to finish. I might give it another shot in the future as I hate not finishing a book, but right now I won't be finishing.

Someone Is Always Watching, is one of those novels that makes you second guess yourself, from the very first page. Not only are the characters fueled with teen angst and drama, they are also living through horrific flashbacks and current traumas.

It sounds heavy, and some of it is. But it is written in a way that gives the reader time to process the ugly before moving onto the next heavy subject or reveal. Armstrong has done exceptionally well in this regard.

From page 1 I had a soft spot for Tucker. Who doesn't love a bad boy, being good for his love interest. Not to mention he is hilarious, smart and a bookworm. A winning combination.

This sci-fi, psychological thriller is a real page turner. Filled with technologies and ideas that scarily don't seem too far from being something in our reality. Fast paced, easy to read and will have you questioning your ideas of right and wrong.

Thankyou to NetGalley for sending me a review copy of this title. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
