I adore Kelley Armstrong and was really looking forward to reading this book. However due to the format of the ARC, I’m unable to change the front size making it impossible for me to read a due to my vision.

I’m sure this book is fabulous as I have never read a Kelley Armstrong book I didn’t love. Sadly I will wait for this book in print or in a different digit version to read it

Thank you Netgalley for the Arc!

I liked the book but I’m not in love with the book. The way the font and paragraphs were spaced out in the arc made it so hard to read. I had trouble following along with to story. But the story was entertaining but it seemed familiar to Kelley Armstrong's other books, The Darkest Powers series. But overall I did enjoy the book.

A story of teens with troubling pasts that have been used for experiments to see if you can restart and remake a human. An interesting story and premise.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I begin? The book started out strong, but my value of it steadily decreased as I read. Half the book is spoiled in the synopsis and everything is built up to be so much more suspenseful than it actually is so that when push comes to shove, there's little to no emotional impact. The characters are interesting but the author doesn't do much with them, so they end up falling flat. The sheer amount of telling and not showing in this book frustrated me to no end, especially at key points in the plot. The psychological issues in this book were barely touched upon and remained shallow throughout, which disappointed me. There are also very few stakes: the climax of this book did not have any real tension and the resolution at the ending was almost laughable. I came away from this book feeling frustrated and disappointed.

A complaint of mine that doesn't have anything to do with the book itself: the formatting of the galley was very poorly done, making it difficult to read. Pieces of dialogue would be in the same lines instead of in separate paragraphs, so I had to look for quotation marks and periods every single time there was a dialogue exchange. There were virtually no spaces between paragraphs either, so my reading experience was greatly diminished.

My actual rating of this book would be more like one star, but giving a book a one-star rating before it releases doesn't sit well with me, so I'm rounding it up to two. I admire what this book was trying to do; unfortunately, it was not executed well.

Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this book. I chose to review it and this in no way impacts my opinion of it.

Let us pretend for just a moment that I am not completely obsessed with Kelley Armstrong and all of her work. That this is the first of her novels I’ve ever read. If this was the first Armstrong novel I read, I would be running out to purchase every novel she ever wrote. I could not put this book down. Within literal pages, I was hooked. By 13% I wanted to call in sick to work so I could continue reading and finish the novel in one sitting. Armstrong has such a way of weaving stories that ensnares me and holds me hostage until the very last page.

When this story begins, we follow Blythe as she struggles through a day at her private STEM school, a perk offered by her parents research lab employers. Then her friend Gabrielle has a mental breakdown and attacks the high school VP. Upon waking up Blythe learns she’s suffering from memory loss due to hitting her head. But then the cracks start to appear in her memories that will change everything.

“Do you want to do something bad?” Absolutely I do. This novel had the right amount of eerie mystery that I love. While some may solve the mystery faster than the characters live it, it was still an incredible journey to go on. The plot was fast paced and captivating, keeping you turning pages until there are none left.

If you enjoy thrilling mysteries and captivating novels, this is one you won’t want to miss. Kelley Armstrong hits yet another home run with Someone is Always Watching.

Ahh I FLEW through this book and had so much fun, start to finish.

SOMEONE IS ALWAYS WATCHING read like Stephen King’s THE INSTITUTE (one of my favorites) meets ONE OF US IS LYING. This book had me from the prologue, which was such a perfect opening. There were a lot of characters, but each of them were incredibly layered—no stereotypes or cardboard cut-outs here. I particularly loved Tanya and Blythe, but I ADORED Tucker from the very first page. This book had some of the bffs-to-lovers I’ve ever read—Tucker’s relationship with Blythe was so endearing and slow-burn, so well-written all the way through. The story is meticulously crafted, with seeds planted from the beginning that grow and flourish into plot twists.

Hey Kelley and Tundra Books, can I start a petition for an epilogue? I need more!

Eternal gratitude to Netgalley and Tundra for blessing me with this fantastic read.

This is exactly my kind of thriller. Focused on the psychology and relationships, without being too slow. A mystery to figure out, without a surplus of impossible red herrings.

This book follows Blythe, a teenage girls that loves following the rules. Blythe witnesses her friend have a mental breakdown and attack a teacher. The next day, she's met with memory loss and gaslighting at every turn.
Blythe and her band of (dysfunctional) friends investigate, but surprises lurk at every turn. It seems like everyone has a skeleton in their closet, no one is fully trustworthy, and every relationship is one reveal away from toppling.
For Blythe, she's in situations where it might be worth it to break the rules, if it means getting to the bottom of this web.

In the beginning, I loved this book because of the characters. Blythe and her best friend have recently had a mysterious falling out, and I was curious to see what it was. As the plot unfolded, it hooked me and kept me in its clutches until the very end. This book weaved together the relationships and the thrilling attacks perfectly.

This book deals poignantly with themes of what shapes a person (their memories, how others treat them).

Someone is Always Watching had me really hooked right from the start and I read it in one sitting because I literally couldn't put it down! A truly strong thriller that brought a lot to the table and makes me want to check out the authors other books!

I just wanna thank Penguin Random House and NetGalley for allowing me to the opportunity to read and review Someone Is Always Watching by Canadian author Kelley Armstrong. It’ll be out April 11th, 2023. When I got approved for this book I was ecstatic! Kelley Armstrong has been one of my favourite authors since 2010. She’s what really sparked my love for reading.

This book was so easy to devour the plot moved nicely and the characters for the most part were easy to like. I would highly suggest this book for anyone looking for an easy thriller to get into the genre.

I’ve read this authors other books and really enjoyed those. So I requested this on a whim and found it to be too cliche and not really a good thriller

I always enjoy Kelley Armstrong's books, and this one is no exception. This is a fast-paced, twisty-turny story of a bunch of friends who find out the lives they are leading are not as they seem. There is parental manipulation, government (well, company town, and it's the company) cover-ups, and some psychological traumas thrown in, for fun.
The story escalates when a terrible crime occurs, and is quickly hidden. Different flashbacks and memories start to surface, and the teens band together to find out just what is going on. The nail-biting finale is a definite page-turner, I couldn't put i down. Satisfying ending, but oh my goodness, I hope there are more stories in this world for us!
thanks to Netgalley and for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you, Netgalley, for the review copy!

I have never read from this author before but, after reading through the other reviews, I hear her other books are better so I’ll definitely be giving those a go. I wasn’t blown away by this one, though. The concept was so cool and I am also in agreement with other reviews that this gave away way too much in the synopsis so, if you like sci-if thrillers and want to read this, go in blind! it just felt kind of flat for me? I wanted the concept to be explained more - I wanted to see where they came from, where they get the funding, how they do this secretly and undercover as well as they do, I really wanted a whole scientific background to it.

(This second part is a bit spoilery)

I also wasn’t a fan of the characters and I didn’t really care about them or their relationships but I did find it sad and it was an interesting way to look at nature vs nurture and also about about morality and whether doing a bad thing for the Greater Good is really in the best interests of those involved. I loved the idea of getting rid of traumatic events but also loved seeing how it still effected them, whether they remembered it or not.

If there is ever a second book that goes more in detail about how it all works and long term effects and stuff I think that would be really fun!

I got sucked into this book from the very first chapter when we meet Blythe and Tucker are asked the question "do you want to do something bad?" Right from the start this book takes off running and doesn't slow down, it's fast-paced, and the mystery was something I was just as invested in figuring out as our main characters and didn't want to put it down until I reached the last page.

When Blythe witnesses something horrible, then wakes up in bed with no memory of it, the mystery begins. When she starts having strange visions of things that didn't happen, her best friend starts acting extremely weird, and Blythe starts getting strange emails from an anonymous person telling her to look deeper into the past she has no idea what to think. But, when things start getting weirder.. if that's even possible... Blythe, Tucker, and Tanya start digging into what's going on, and they are not prepared for what they are about to uncover.

This is an intriguing young adult mystery where Blythe and her friends attend a STEM school run by CMT, the neurological research company their parents work for. Blythe's friend Gabi experiences a mental breakdown followed by a violent attack. Something strange is going on and Blythe are her friends must puzzle it out.

I started reading this book not really knowing what would happen but I enjoyed it and couldn't stop reading it.

I have loved a lot of the authors work and went into this book without a clue as to what might happen. I think the beginning was very promising but the story ultimately felt very hollow.

The plot itself and the characters are a bit too cliche. Sometimes being cliche can work, especially if character relationships and dynamics bring something new. This doesn’t do that.

The resolution was also very rushed and kind of just unbelievable. Without spoiling anything, there was one particular moment at the end, all on a single page, which felt like a complete 180 in terms of the characterization and events. The whole book itself just didn’t seem very fleshed out at all and moved too fast for me to care about anyone or anything.

When Blythe's friend Gabi has a psychotic break, she sets out to uncover what happened. Then she starts to get mysterious messages from someone named Veritas - someone claiming that one of her friends is a murderer - a killer child who murdered a another boy. Blythe doesn't know what to think, who to trust or who is watching. She needs to find the truth - but will the truth set her free or doom them all?

This was a great teen mystery - a slow burn thriller. The characters were complex and genuine. I read it in one sitting.

This was a great pick for my first Kelley Armstrong novel. While not a full blown thriller, I really enjoyed it. it did take me a while to get into but once i got hooked i couldn’t put it down

Let me say first, this book had me totally hooked and I read well into the night to finish it. A stand alone fiction story, maybe classed in the YA category, but I’m well beyond that and I loved this thriller. If I say more I will drop spoilers. So I finish with:- If you have never read a Kelly Armstrong book then start here for many hours of reading here and in her many other books. If you have been reading her books, then don’t miss another excellent story. Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
