This book!!! The twists and turns in this book were so good I sat down to read it and didn’t stop till it was over. Just when you think it’s going one way something changes. Reading everything by this author from now on!

This was extremely good! Well written and such a wild ride at the end, I expected none of it.

The beginning dives right in (literally). And has your grip throughout the rest of the book.

I did find the mother's in the story a little overbearing. But I mean, if I was in the situations they were in, I probably would be too.

Off the Deep End by Lucinda Berry is about a therapist turned stay-at-home mom. Jules Hart’s idyllic suburban life shatters when she crashes her car into an icy lake. Her son and another teenage boy plunge into the water with her, but Jules can only manage to save one—the wrong one.

This book had lots of surprises and twists, some cringe-worthy. Overall, a good Lucinda Berry book. I would recommend this author and this book.

I would rate Off the Deep End a 4 out of 5 stars.

Lucinda Berry is one of my go-to authors. She always has a good story to tell.
Jules is driving home from a sports game with her teenage son Gabe, and a neighbor boy Isaac, when a deer runs into the road, they swerve on black ice, and the car plunges into a lake. Jules and Isaac survive, and Gabe does not. The story begins several months later, when Isaac goes missing. The book is a dark psychological page-turner. Recommended.

Jules is driving her son and his friend Isaac home when she crashes her car into an icy lake. She manages to save Isaac, but her son drowns in the lake. Jules goes into a deep depression, and ten months later, with her life spiraling out of control. Isaac goes missing, and Jules becomes the center of the investigation. Off The Deep End is a taut, emotionally charged thriller that dives deep into Jules’ psyche, as well as the impact of her actions on Isaac and his family. The plot immediately grabs you, ultimately going in a direction you won’t see coming as the story unfolds through the interviews with Jules and her therapist, and the frantic efforts of Issac’s family and the police to find Isaac. Totally addictive, you’ll want to finish this in one sitting. Outstanding! I received an arc of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a crazy ride, to be sure. Just when you thought a character couldn’t get crazier, boom! I consistently underestimated the arc of the story and I am thrilled that it surpassed my expectations.
Jules loses her son in a horrible accident and she slowly spirals out of control, her sanity unraveling. Meanwhile, her son’s friend goes missing. Coincidence? This plot is complex, but threads the events together almost seamlessly. The ending was a bit weird, which is why it lost 1/2 a star.
Excellent book! Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for the advanced copy for my honest review.

This book was a freaking wild ride! After reading (and loving) The Perfect Child, I was expecting Lucinda to have me guessing and holding my breath!

A child who dies, a child who goes missing, a serial killer on the loose, a mentally unstable mother, a family with secrets... holy guacamole... go and read it as soon as it's released!

It started off a little slow, but when it got going, it got going! I freaking loved it and did not want to put it down!

Off the Deep End releases on January 10th, you don't want to miss it!

Big thanks to NetGalley for giving me the ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I've read several other novels by this author, so I was eager to dive in, and it didn't disappoint. The author tells a good story, and is clearly knowledgeable about therapy and child development to make things realistic.

I was invested in the story, and it took a few clever turns. Recommended.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"Off the Deep End" is a great, twisted psychological thriller! Told in alternating perspectives of two moms who are affected by tragedy, this is a fast-paced, engaging story that I didn't want to put down. Without giving too much away, this is a story of two families were affected by a death of one child and the disappearance of another. I honestly didn't guess the plot twist towards the end. I would highly recommend this book and would definitely read others by Lucinda Berry!

This is my third book by Berry & it did not disappoint! I absolutely love her writing style, I love that her can write things that are disturbing & uncomfortable, but they’re still tolerable to read. This wasn’t what I was expecting from this book, but I’m the best way. I think this is possibly her darkest book yet, and I’m here for it! There are both mothers POV in this book and you can FEEL the devastation, desperation & helplessness in both women. This book is so well written, I cannot recommend this enough. It releases in January of 2023!

| Fun Fact about the Author |
Lucinda Berry actually used to be a clinical psychologist & spent time researching Childhood trauma. Now, she used her past Experience to bring us masterpieces like this. She said she enjoys taking her readers on a journey through dark & recesses of the human psyche.

I want to thank @netgalley & Thomas & Mercer for this ARC copy!

Jules gets into a terrible accident with her son, Gabe and a neighbors child, Isaac. Jules life unravels after she loses Gabe. All the while, Isaacs household is dealing with his survival. He goes into a depression and its tearing his parents, Amber and Mark, apart seeing him so out of sorts. He ends up going missing. Amber is convinced it was Jules, but Jules is adamant she had nothing to do with it. We go along for the ride as they try to find Isaac before it's too late.

I buddy read this with some friends and I really enjoyed the ride. I did not see a lot of the twists coming and it held my attention. The first bit was a little slow, and honestly both mothers in this got on my nerves. But once it picked up, I couldn't stop! We all finished the book early cause we had to know the ending.

I'd recommend checking trigger warnings, this does have a pretty heavy topic involved.

Another Lucinda Berry book that I just have flown through! This was a group buddy read and we all finished early because we couldn't stop reading.

It was twisty and unexpected, suspenseful and full of mystery. Lucinda is fabulous at creating villians and building all of her characters.

This was a quick read that is guaranteed to give you some open mouth moments and feelings of confusion, anger, heart ache and more.

What a great book!

Thank you Netgalley and Lucinda Berry for the ARC of this book which is released next year in 2023.

4.5 star rounded up!

This was insanely good, but obviously, Lucinda berry doesn’t miss. The book started off a bit slow for me but then it picked up and didn’t let off the gas. There was a scene towards the end that I was straight up not breathing. 🫣 it kept me on my toes and threw in some real life scenarios that are unfortunately very common. Definitely recommend checking trigger warnings or just reach out to me and I’ll tell ya! Go read this! It comes out January 10, 2023! Thank you #netgalley #offthedeepend and Lucinda berry for a killer book! 🔪

The premise of this novel sounded very entertaining, so I was very excited to read this ARC. Unfortunately, I had a hard time staying engaged in the story. This one was just not for me.

I’m finding it really difficult to put my review into words for this book. It was a dark, dark ride and it’s left me feeling…cold.

Lucinda Berry’s books are known for exploring the darker side to mental health / psychiatry due to her own expertise in that area. And I’ve always found it fascinating, and I love that she isn’t afraid to write about taboo subjects.

This book explored the darkest depths of grief and loss, depression, suicide, drug abuse. It was definitely a very big shift from reading light hearted romances. It was tragic. It was traumatic.

Although I enjoyed it (I think), and at times I couldn’t put it down, the story got more complex and it wasn’t quite what I was expecting it to be. We had alternate perspectives from Jules, through her case file by her therapist, and Amber, whose son is missing.

We are led down a few possible paths that Amber is perhaps responsible for Isaac’s disappearance, and also a serial killer on the loose known as the Dog Snatcher. A lot of things not quite right. A lot of arms and legs growing.

But then it gets a bit … explosive and messy, and takes a very, very twisted turn. A turn that had my mind in a tizzy. It felt almost like it went off track a bit too, away from what the story was originally about. I won’t say anymore about it so I don’t give away spoilers.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this book. It didn’t really feel like it had a happy outcome, and I just didn’t empathise with Jules or Amber.

Don’t read this if you are triggered by any of the above things I mentioned. It’s a tough read and you need to be in the right headspace for it. But Lucinda Berry is a master of psychological fiction and I will always recommend her books, and auto-buy anything she writes.

Whoa, what a thriller this was! Jules is the picture perfect pta parent who while driving her son and a friend home one icy night loses control of her vehicle and crashes into an icy lake. She manages to pull one of the kids to safety but is horrified when she finds out it’s the friend and not her son. Jules really struggles with her mental health after this and seems to be somewhat getting a grip when Isaac, the boy who survived, goes missing and though it’s believed that a serial killer is responsible, Isaacs mom is convinced Jules is the suspect. The twists and turns in this book kept me glued! It’s not very often that a book keeps me guessing but this one did just that. This is the first book I have read by this author but won’t be my last, this is a story that will stick with me for a while.

Jules is driving her son Gabe and another boy named Isaac home after a game in the evening when a deer jumps out in front of the car. Jules loses control of the car and they end up sinking in an icy lake. Jules goes to grab her son but pulls out Isaac by mistake. Gabe doesn't make it and she blames herself. Jules has a break down and ends up in an institution. Isaac goes missing soon after and the investigators think its a serial killer who has been taking young boys. His mom, Amber thinks Jules has something to do with it since her and Isaac have formed a bond.

This book started really interesting and by the end I was shocked. It was not what I was expecting at all. I did like the different points of view from Jules and Isaac's mom, Amber. I think I have read just about all of Lucinda Berry's books and she can really come up with a wild story to tell. If you have enjoyed her other books, then I am sure you will enjoy this one too, it is a quick read!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This review will be posted to my Instagram Blog (@coffee.break.book.reviews) in the near future.

This book is about Jules Hart, who’s life is forever changed one day when she crashes her car over the edge into a lake and her son dies. Her sons friend, Isaac, was in the car and she was able to save him. She’s left to grapple with the loss of her son Gabe and emotional toll and guilt of Isaac being alive still, amidst her great loss. That is until Isaac mysteriously vanishes and suspicions are surrounding her. Is she responsible for his disappearance or is there something more sinister at play?

The book sounded so intriguing and interesting! I was expecting a tense, thrilling, twisty-turney tale. Alas, it fell short of my hopeful expectations. It started out okay, but then the plot got confusing and convoluted. There was a twist at the end, but it felt haphazard and by the time I got there, I was already disconnected from the book.

Thank you to NetGalley + Thomas and Mercer for the ARC.
