On a beautiful island off the English coast, a group of TV actresses gather. One of them has a secret. One of them will stop at nothing to get revenge on the man who hurt her. And one of them is determined to be the best, no matter what it costs.
This was not for me. A bunch of soap opera actresses sure have their share of drama and secrets, but can they get away with murder? This was not as murder/mystery as advertised, and the characters were shallow. The premise was good, and I read this as an audio book ,so I would be curious to read a text version to see if it can hook me in.
I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I didn’t finish this book. It was just too much drama. It reminded me of the old show Dynasty. It was just not my taste in books.

I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, it did not live up to it's hype. The book is about a group of horrible people - the "heroes", the "bad guys" - there isn't a good one in the bunch. Nothing redeems this book. I do not read for ideology indoctrination and there needs to be at least one redeeming character in the story - SOMEONE to at least feel is okay, even if you don't exactly identify with it. Nope, not in this book.

For most of the story having read the previous book is not necessary, but perhaps that isn't really true as the death at the end of the previous book (who knew) was a driving part of this book. Ugh. Just ugh. I think that is the best I can say for it.

Honestly, I want those hours of my life back!

A long running television soap opera is winding up, and the actresses from the show are not happy. Now four of the five are on an island. The fifth is dead and only her co-stars know why. Now, one of the remaining actresses is feeling guilty and wants to fess up, but if she does, that will surely mean the end of the show. And they will do anything to prevent that from happening.

Guilty Women is book two in a series, and while I enjoyed book one, I won't be picking up a book three if there is one. I just don't think I need to be part of the "long running soap opera." This is a book about women with a lot of fierceness, but too many characters and more drama than thriller. That's a big part of my unhappiness with the book - it's classified as a mystery & thriller, but it isn't thrilling.

Using the backdrop of a soap opera which has existed since the genre began, this book is about the women on the show and behind the scenes, the cutthroat industry, sex, and relationships. As book one began with a recitation of the LONG cast of characters and a sentence to describe them, as an audio book there are too many characters to keep track of and without much appealing about any of them.

Narrator Claire King does a good job voicing the parts.

I'm 100% certain there are folks out there who will enjoy this series (listen to book one first), but I think I'm not the target market.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen in exchange for my honest opinion.

WOW!! This is a soap opera in a soap opera in a soap opera. If you are like me a grew up watching soaps, this book is right in your wheel house. This book started a little slow, because of all the background needed to fully understand all the pieces. When the book gets going, it really it filled with the drama, the sex, the intrigue we all remember from soaps from their hay day. I was on the edge of my seat once the story got going. A live shark ate the owner of a network in a LIVE Christmas day special, and that is how our story starts...It can only go up from there. This book is meant for those that enjoy over the top drama. Its all the DRAMA and I am here for it!!!

Falcon Bay, a soap opera series filled with women with their own secrets.
📺
Four women who share a secret. They know what happened when the former owner of the network, Madeline Kane dies onscreen!
📺
What secrets will keep hidden? Can secrets really be kept? Revenge, sex, jealousy, and women scheming create a juicy plot. A mind blowing ending

Wow I really enjoyed this audiobook for the most part! Some parts sort of fell a bit flat for me, but I’d still recommend it!

I did not finish at the 67% mark. I requested this book since it was in the mystery & thriller genre. The description makes it sound like a murder mystery; however, I found it lacking in the murder mystery area. Instead the plot is filled with drama and graphic sexual scenes. I did not enjoy this book and could not finish it.

Title: Guilty Women
Series: The Ruthless Women trilogy
Author: Melanie Blake
Audiobook Narrator: Claire King
Publisher: Dreamscape Media
Genre: Mystery Thriller
Pub Date: July 19, 2022
My Rating: 2.3

Although I didn’t read [book: The Ruthless Women] Book #1 in this trilogy, it seems to work as a standalone.
In the first book Madeleine Kane, the former owner of the CITV network and actor on the show, was tragically killed on screen during the live Christmas Day episode.
Now in this story another actress go missing and assumed dead.

Soap opera actresses Amanda, Helen, Farragut and Sheena are on an island off the Jersey coast preparing for the latest episode of the long running soap “Falcon Bay”. These four all seem to having something to hide – are they all guilty?
Sorry to say but I really struggled with this story. It didn’t work for me.

Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for my honest opinion.
