I love how much I love this series because I actually thought I would hate it. I, like many I'm sure, read this because of TikTok and I haven't regretted that decision one bit. No one was more surprised than me when I finished book one and actually was really impressed by it.

Barbarian Mine is book 4 in this series and it is just as entertaining, smutty and fun as the others before it. If anyone can actually picture what these aliens look like please let me know though because it is everchanging every time I read a new book. I am picturing that one dude from star trek except he's blue and I'm dressing him down because how can I not after these books. It's a visual I didn't expect to hunt for when I watched the show with my dad 20 years ago, I'll tell ya that much.

I loved Rukh and Harlow. I loved the fact that he finally had someone for him. Rukh is such a lonely character and bringing Harlow into his corner was perfect and made me love it more.

This series is perfect for when I have no idea what the hell I want to read. It just crosses off so many boxes and is always satisfying by the end.

Ruby Dixon is the queen of binge-able spicy books!

Honestly been waiting for grumpy Rukh to get his HEA and this did not disappoint.

I genuinely don't understand how people enjoy this series. It's very silly and poorly written. I don't think I'll be giving any of the other books in the series a shot.

From Lala’s Book Reviews

I promise y’all this series keeps getting better and better! At this point, I would recommend to read this series in order as the time line is progressing, spoilers for previous books, and some over lapping in book time lines. Like the last quarter of Barbarian Lover is the same time as the beginning part of Barbarian Mine.

I figured that Barbarian Mine was going to be about Harlow and whichever alien that she would be mated with as she suddenly disappeared in the previous book. Harlow is one of the females who were locked in the pods I believe and she was considered to be one of the wildcards that kind of stuck to herself and wasn’t overly outgoing.

Harlow now finds herself with an alien she’s never met before who doesn’t speak the native language, understands their culture, and seems to a nomad despite looking oddly familiar at times.

Rukh has a hard time understanding what Harlow is to him as he has been alone for as long as he can remember given how his father had told him that the others are evil.

After being stuck with Rukh, Harlow is slowly able to figure out how to communicate with him, reintroduce him to his language and even some English, and explain the mating thing.

Despite finding Harlow to be odd initially, he accepts his mate and comes to care for her needs of a human, but he is also afraid that she will leave him to go back to her people. Eventually they settle near the coast, and some time passes and Harlow eventually becomes pregnant, but with the brain tumor she had back on earth, her khui is unable to fully care for the baby and the tumor leaving Harlow to become weak and sick.

Luckily Liz and Raahosh are leading a hunting party to gather sea salt and finds the pair. Liz is able to convince Rukh that they have a healer who would be able to try and help Harlow which breaks down some of his worries and they travel back to the tribe despite Rukh’s instinct to stay away from the others, but he is willing to get help for his sick mate despite his discomfort. But will it be enough for him to stay with her, if Harlow needs to stay with them to keep her and the baby healthy?

Let me just say that I am now 100% into this series. Somehow I got sucked into this world of humans cohabiting with aliens making their little alien/human babies.

With this book, we surprisingly find answers to questions that where presented a couple of books back, we have more pairings of couples, and we finally get to meet our first little alien/human babies!

The latest title from Ruby Dixon offers more of a story and better character development . This is what I have wanted more of from the start. This series is my guilty pleasure and I will read the next one!

Harlow and Rukh are the best! Their chemistry is off the charts and I loved watching their story develop. Rukh is my favorite of the blue group so far and I can't wait to see more of this pair in future books as well. I love being able to watch all of the characters develop and how their lives change with each book. Who would've thought a book that I started reading on a dare would turn into a series I can't get enough of?!?

Another great addition to the Ice Planet Barbarian series! I have been waiting super impatiently for this one as the snippet at the end of the prior book was super stressful! There were a lot more issues to overcome with this couple, so it was really interesting to watch how that played out. I also feel like each story we are getting more developed characters! Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

Thank you Berkley Romance for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for review consideration.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

I initially read this book back in 2021 and then reread it as it was re-released by Berkley Romance. Although this book keeps to the heart and predictability of the Ice Planet Barbarians aka breeding-kink romance the variance in the story line serves as a nice refresher as this is book four in the series. I enjoyed this book the first time around and equally so this time, as we follow Harlow and Rukh. Rukh is a rather peculiar character, because he looks like the blue aliens we have come to know and love; however he is not a part of Vektal’s tribe. When he kidnaps Harlow she has to contend with being separated from the people and the life she has come to know.

This traditional published version comes with two additional bonus stories, one of which I think was previously available and the other I believe to be new, but do not quote me on that. I enjoyed the bonus content, I found it to be both sweet and nice fan-service who simply want more from characters they know and love. This book, likes it predecessors is a fun, light sci-fi romance that still manages to take the time to touch on real life concerns and discussions, which I typically enjoy in romances.

I will see the “magical healing trope” present in this book and I’m not sure how all readers will feel about it. Sure, we understand why the author did it but like many things in this book it is extremely unrealistic and I felt it could have been handled a bit differently.

I’ve never read past this book, as I grew a little tired of the repetitive nature of the storylines. However, enough time has passed and I would be interested in reading a few more Ice Planet Barbarian books, if not the entire twenty-plus book series.

I absolutely love this series!

Barbarian Mine picks up where we left off with Harlow being hit over the head after her khui starts resonating. Turns out there was another barbarian on the planet unaccounted for. And he literally clubs Harlow on the head and drags her back to his cave, caveman-style. Romantic right? Ha!

I really enjoyed Harlow and Rukh’s story! There’s lots of steamy sexytimes and a few surprises! And can we talk about how sweet and romantic these big blue aliens are? Dang! You gotta admit, having someone call you “MINE” is a little endearing.

Barbarian Mine is an engaging read with an entertaining storyline and a great cast of characters. I love the series and I can’t wait to read the next book!

I've enjoyed the Ice Planet Barbarians series, but "Barbarian Mine" strikes me as an idea running dry. Not much is new here; it feels like a repeat of the same plot. Also needs a good round of editing - lots of sloppy sentences that disrupt the flow.

Fourth in the series. Would not recommend as a standalone. I'm not ready to give up on this series, but my expectations for the next installments are low.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for providing an eARC for review.

I loved Ruby Dixon's first Barbarian book, so I was looking forward to reading this one. However, I found myself not liking this book. I was frustrated with the language that seemed to look down on this alien society that doesn't have the same tools and technology as white, western society. I did not enjoy the Tarzan-type narrative and felt that the characters' relationship was unhealthy and forced. Sadly, I did not enjoy this story and don't think I could recommend it to others.

Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Ice Planet Barbarian book and I both do and do not get the hype. Maybe I should start at the beginning and read the whole series. This was fun enough that I would maybe try that in order to get the full effect.

Ruby Dixon can write some serious smut with incredible stories! Stockholm Syndrome, Ice Planet Barbarians, just read this for a wild ride.

This was a reread for me and I immediately remembered why it’s one of my favorite book in the series.

More than any other blue alien, Rukh is truly a barbarian. He has raised himself and been alone since he was a preteen. He’s survived but doesn’t know how to communicate. He kidnaps Harlow because he’s lonely and wants someone to share his life with.

Harlow only wants to escape. Until she realizes what her resonance means. This feral, stoic, grumpy alien is her mate. The hurdles they have to cross because of his emotional distance, aversion to human contact and ignorance of healthy relationships and the mechanics of the human body are daunting.

Their forced proximity leads to Stockholm Syndrome and Lizzy wants to stay and continue to heal her mate when her friends find her again.

Tropes: grumpy vs. sunshine; fated mates

Barbarian Mine by Ruby Dixon is the fourth book in the Ice Planet Barbarians series, yet it’s the first one I’ve read. I was completely swayed into reading this due to the massive social media barrage about it. This series has flooded Instagram and Tik Tok.

Before your read on, please know that this is an extremely steamy, sci-fi romance.

Barbarian Mine focuses on Harlow and Rukh, Raahosh’s long lost brother. Rukh is presumed to be dead but grew up alone in the wild since he was a child. He recognizes Harlow as his mate through “resonance” (part of Dixon’s great world-building) so he knocks her out and kidnaps her. Romantic, right? He really takes “barbarian” to a whole new meaning.

Despite their not-so-cute “meet cute,” I loved watching the relationship between Rukh and Harlow grow. Harlow brings sunshine and smiles into Rukh’s isolated life, and Rukh is as sweet as a cinnamon roll and the most naive hero. There wasn’t much outside action as most of the story centered on their isolated life in their cave.

Overall, this was a satisfying story with a lot of character growth and a romance that had me feeling all types of warm and fuzzy.

Harlow was kidnapped by aliens, dropped on an ice planet, accepted a symbiote to stay alive, and happily accepted the help and safety of the only tribe of alien people on the planet. She's healthy and ready to make the most of her new life on Not Hoth, until she kidnapped (again) by an alien (again). Harlow faces more than she bargained for when she wakes to find Rukh, an alien who seems to be from the tribe she joined, but doesn't seem to know their language or life. Plus, she seems to be resonating for him.....

Ruby Dixon put a lot of love into these novels and it's apparent the further into the series I get. She makes the smallest moments loom so large and wonderful. I adore her big blue alien men and the women that love them, and I find it compelling to read romance novels that really try to work through the characters' issues instead of just glancing over them. I was excited to pick up this ARC in the hopes we might get to see the first kits born and I was not disappointed, but I will say no more lest I spoil anything. Another fun and cozy novel for my collection.
