Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada, and Tundra Books for the e-ARC to read and review. I really loved this book! To me, it's endearing and "gross" in the same way that Ratatouille is (and I mean that as a mega compliment.) As in, do I want to think about an actual roach hopping on to a child and following them to school? ABSOLUTELY NO. But do I love THIS story about endearing little family of roachies who think joining along to school is the most fun? Uh, it's really cute. It's clever and unique to anything I've seen before, but I could see it not being everyone's favorite if taken literally.

I received an electronic ARC from Penguin Random House Canada through NetGalley.
Hilarious return for the the cockroach as he is now going to school. Readers see what happens when he and his family ride along to spend the day in the classroom. Told from his perspective while readers see the human reactions in the illustrations. A lighter read that can transition into a discussion about bugs, cleaning up, and other topics.

If a bug could talk, what a tale it would tell about a visit to school. Elementary school life from a cockroach's view is definitely an interesting perspective. This book shows the reader that viewpoint in colorful, fun, childlike illustrations.

On a practical note, this book could be used to show the literary concept of point of view to introduce a unit about literature.

Super silly, absolutely gross and full of cockroach fun!

This book has wonderfully colorful illustrations and we spent extra time checking out all of the details.

After reading to my son, he exclaimed: “I get it! It’s tough making friends when you are different, but everyone, no matter how different they are, deserves to have friends and be accepted at school”. I love the mind of a child 😊

This was a very silly book, was some even funnier details inside- if your young reader loves "yucky" they are sure to love this book.

Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books.

A new tale from Maggie Hutchings and illustrator Felicita Sala, starring the cockroach from "Your Birthday Was the Best!" "Your Schools is the Best" is funny and charming (in its own cockroach-y way). Our protagonist follows his human "friend" to school and experiences everything school has to offer, including lots of tears from the teacher and students! A good read for kids who are interested in bugs and/or mayhem.

This book was HILARIOUS and so very gross.

I would absolutely love reading this to any of the children in my family and I know they would like it as well.

I think my son is even going to be excited to read it back to me because with kids his age (7 years old) the more gross the better.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is so cute! Your School is the Best follows a family of bugs as they go to school for the first time. This adorably creepy family get to experience all the fun school has to offer while maybe making new friends along the way.

I read this with my school aged daughter and she absolutely loved it. It's a little bit gross and whole lot funny.

Such a fun, playful book! My 6 year old loved the pic of the cockroaches pooping colors. :) What a fun book for preschoolers and elementary school kiddos to learn about parts of their school day!

My younger son thought this book was very funny as the small cockroach and friends try to participate in school. He wanted to hear the story again and again. The book wasn't too long and was not overly complicated as we learn of what happens throughout the school day. As for my older son, he thought it was silly but lost interest after a single read. I would say best for kids 3-7 years old.

Your School is the Best! had just as much humor and wit as Your Birthday was the BEST!. Inside is a story of an adorable cockroach with a bad case of FOMO. Him and his family sneak their way into school to see what it is all about.

With great illustrations and laugh-out-loud moments, this will surely be a hit with children and parents alike.

This is a fun book that shows what happens during a day at school. The story and illustrations are simple but captivating.
I read this book to my 5 year old and he enjoyed it. When the book ended he was excited to tell me what happens during a day at his school. Although he did not get the humor of the cockroaches he still enjoyed the book from beginning to end.
I am grateful to Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this fun children's book in exchange for a honest review.

I really liked the illustrations and it was a cute short story, but it wasn't as cute as I thought it was going to be. A good intro to what school is all about.

This book is an interesting one. I was a little confused at the end as to whether I really understood the message. Children in the younger classes would enjoy it as it does show scenes of a teacher fainting and insects eating people's lunch, but I found it lacking in deeper meaning. The illustrations were nice and it w0uld definitely be enjoyable trying to find the different characters (and insects) in the various scenes. It would also be a good conversation starter around school etc. But that would be the main value in it I think.

Kids will love this book because of the funny theme and brilliant illustrations. The super funny expressions of the characters and the detailed drawings make this book stand out from other books. I just wish it had a few more twists and turns to savor.

The kids in my school (and myself) could not get enough of the first book from Maggie Hutchings, Your Birthday Was the Best!. I cannot wait to share with them the next chapter of our enthusiastic cockroach narrator as they follow their human friend to school. It's sure to bring lots of laughs, and the illustrations are again, phenomenal.

A fun children's picture of a cockroach's first day of school. The artwork was fun to look at and the story reminded me of the "If you Give A Mouse A Cookie" series. This is a fun story to read with children who are getting ready for their first day of school from Kindergarten and up.

I'm going to be frank here. I love bugs. I like spiders, and beetles, and I'm utterly fascinated by ants and stinging insects. The only insect, and I mean the ONLY one I can't stand is the cockroach. The palmetto bug, specifically. That's why when I read Maggie Hutchings first book about the oblivious cockroach who thinks he is the guest of honor at a birthday party, I genuinely could not stop laughing. Mostly because it was my worst nightmare. I TOTALLY understood the kid, and the fact that the roach kept following him trying to play, thinking they were best buddies and obviously terrifying the birthday boy just utterly tickled my funny bone. Furthermore, it has no excuse being as cute as it is! When sharing the book with my six year old son, we laughed and laughed! So when "Your School Is the Best!" showed up as an eARC, I had to get my hands on it.

After sitting down and sharing the book with my aforementioned six year old, I can confirm "Your School is the Best!" is hilarious, self aware, and a delight to read with a child. Relying a bit more on the gross-out factor this time around, the book is sure to delight young boys especially, but will likely get a chuckle out of anybody who gets their hands on it (provided they've got a good sense of humor). Felicita Sala's illustrations bring much of the same whimsy and humor to the book that the first one had, somehow making an almost army of cockroaches stealing away to an elementary school cute. Like the first book, I think it may be best to share with a child one-on-one rather than to a group due to the entertaining "where's the cockroach" element to it- children will be able to better see little fun details added in by Sala. I'm excited to be able to share "Your School Is the Best!" in a few short months with all of my young patrons, and will surely be adding the book to our personal collection to live with the first book.

This book was so fun. I had read it 5 times with my kids and they have not gotten enough of the book. This will definitely be a book that is going to be added to our family library.

This is a comical way to portray the way we react to insects and how insects view us. I think preschool-1st grade would love the humor in this book.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for the ARC.
