Thank you Netgalley & Kensington for an eARC of For Her Consideration by Amy Spalding!
Nina is absolutely head over heels for Taylor. Sure they may have broken up, but Taylor is giving Nina a second chance and she has every intention of not messing it up . . . until she does. Or at least that's what Taylor makes her think. Taylor gives Nina a list of all the things "wrong with her" and Nina decides that it's better for everyone, her friends included, if she just disappeared and gave up dating.
Nina is working for a talent agency where she works behind the scenes pretending to be celebrities replying to emails. She is excellent at her job and hasn't had a complaint in years, until Ari Fox. Of all people, the celebrity that had an issue with Nina's emails is the one celebrity Nina already has a crush on.
Ari and Nina end up becoming friends early on, but pretty soon it leads to something more. The two embark on a crazy romance with so many ups and downs you think you're on a rollercoaster.
This book was a very easy read and I breezed through it. We follow Nina's story throughout and I must admit that I initially did not like Nina very much based on her interactions with Taylor. Before Nina was described a decent way into the book, I pictured her very differently so I had to take steps to change that image in my mind. I was also not a huge fan of Ari's when she was first introduced. Both characters did eventually grow on me once we got to know them better.
One of the things I loved about this book was that it wasn't a "coming out" book. Both characters are already out and just living their lives, which I appreciate. However, I did feel that there was a little too much emphasis on Ari because this openly queer icon. Nina says it over and over and over again how Ari is doing so much for queer youth and she is, but it almost feels like that's all Nina sees in her after saying it so many times.
I also love the character of Lorna, Nina's aunt (who is really her grandmother's sister and so acts more like a grandmother figure). She super funny and witty and just adds a certain pizzazz to the story.
Overall a fantastic read. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this for an honest review.

While reading this, I couldn’t help but smile throughout the whole thing. The chemistry between Nina Rice and Ari Fox was insane, they were so stinking adorable. The relationship between Nina Rice and Lorna warmed my heart, having family and friends around you is the best.

This book was so nice and I absolutely loved reading it and I’m so glad I was able to receive it as well! Nina and Ari gave me everything I wanted and more!

Nina Rice has been dwelling on a previous relationship that ended badly for about 3 years, she has isolated and focused on her work, that changes, though, when she meets lesbian rising movie star Ari Fox and starts to fall for her.
I really liked this! The relationship between Nina and Ari felt well developed and they had a lot of chemistry. The plot wasn’t very important but it didn’t matter to me at all because Nina and Ari’s relationship was so well done.
The side characters were super entertaining and lovable and the little things like the cat and Lift driver Karl really tied it all up nicely together.
I do think that this book would have benefited of a higher stakes conflict, as I didn’t really get stressed about the relationship issues because they felt like not that big of a deal, really enjoyable book overall tho :)

Nina is an assistant to a Hollywood agent and she ends up dating Ari Fox, a queer actor who meet when Ari has questions about her talent agency team. It was simple and sweet and enjoyable. I liked both leads a lot and Nina’s friends were fun and didn’t take away from the story. The characters did not feel static and I liked that there was a clear arc of Nina’s growth. The focus of the book was almost entirely focused on Nina which feels pretty rare in romance novels. It made it difficult to connect to Ari and sometimes she felt like an imitation of a character instead of anything real. The pacing was pretty slow and there was too much repetition for my tastes, of arguments, of jokes, of insecurities. I liked that the book felt honest with multiple issues and I loved the side characters (Nina’s friends, Aunt Lorna) but I wish it felt more balanced overall. I have been struggling a lot with romances lately because I find them too surface level where there characters never feel like they could actually exist and they’re always brought down to a few key characteristics that get echoed throughout the book. This one felt pretty middle ground for me, the chai repetition felt like overkill and I think there’s a simpler way to emphasize the issues Nina was dealing with, but it was readable and entertaining enough that I finished the book. I mostly wish that books gave a bit more space for readers to breathe and infer things instead of everything being so clear cut, the blame neatly displaced, and everything obvious with who is to blame. I thought it was interesting that Ari being a celebrity was practically irrelevant for the majority of the book and a lot of that must be because the POV was solely Nina’s, but I think it would’ve been interesting to get more of Ari’s friends and her overall life. The last third conflict was…a stretch for me, but it didn’t really take away from my enjoyment of the book.

4/5 ⭐️
I really enjoyed this one! It had a very interesting concept and was executed well. One of my favorite aspects of a queer story is a solid found family and this book had just that! Although I wasn’t fond of the pacing for the conflict and resolution, this book had great queer love and representation.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the early copy!

This book was absolutely spectacular. I loved the storyline and everything about it. This book was magical.

If you want a fun, joyful, gay , warm fuzzies romance, then 'For Her Consideration' might be just for you.
Meet our two mains Nina and Ari who are very easy to like and to just enjoy there playfulness together. Nina works as a talent scout (mainly writing as the talent for saying I enjoyed your event etc ) and Ari the talent. When one email goes wrong, Ari wants to strict and in control how her emails should go. Ari thinks its wise for Nina to shadow some of her current emails, what could possible happen, friendship, lust and maybe lust.
For me I thought Ari was just thirsty for Nina from the head start and it was nothing to do with the email. She seen her and thought, 'yeh I want some of that'. It was fun to see their chemistry together and how they navigated around each other.
Side characters where all just adorable and I did have some laugh out moments with Nina's friends. I also fell in love with Nina's aunt (kind of grandma).
I would like to add that Nina's ex sounded horrendous. I'm actually really glad she didn't just pop up to do the drama because I might of spat my dummy out. However the dialogue that I got to read , I genuinely was really angry. Once your read the 12 points list your understand.
I rated it four stars as I think I prefer more slow burns , to the point you are screaming at the author 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING' and I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, just my personal preference.
This is my first book of Amy Spaldings and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to her new work and exploring previous publishes.
Happy Reading

This book is fantastic! It's a perfect spin on a celebrity romance, with one of the most unique industry jobs I've ever read. Nina writes emails for famous actors. That's how she ends up meeting Ari, a queer actress who is in Oscar contention. What starts as Ari wanting to help Nina lend a more authentic voice to the emails she crafts quickly blooms into a friendship (and attraction) between the two. This is such a sweet and satisfying read on all levels, set against a Los Angeles backdrop that's as vivid and authentic as they come. Not to mention this book is laugh out loud funny, with great side characters that elevate every scene. I truly cannot say enough good things about this one!

Gosh, this book was so sweet and full of hope. I am weak for a good sapphic romcom, with a found-family and lots of body positivity. There were a few plot points that did bother me (like how could Nina's friends let her disappear and not try to reach out to her when she decided to ghost them after her breakup with her ex??).
Still, it was a very enjoyable read, I had a great time with Nina and Ari (I do wish we'd gotten her POV too tho).
Highly recommend this book if you're looking for a heartwarming read with queer rep!

This book was so enjoyable. The characters worked off of each other so well and I wanted them to be together and couldn’t stop reading.
Sometimes you relate to characters so much and just want them to be happy. This book accomplished that and made me wish for great things for them.

This was a cute, uplifting sapphic romance that focuses on personal growth and the importance of loving yourself so that you can love others. I enjoyed the theme and I found the main character very relatable (I, too, have had someone I loved write a list about everything that was wrong with me and it was definitely traumatizing), so it was nice to read about her healing and growing as a person. Unfortunately, I found Ari Fox very bland as a love interest and their relationship felt too easy. I’m also not a fan of the big friend group trope in romcoms, because it’s rare that any of the friend characters are fleshed out enough that I can tell them apart. However, those things wouldn’t stop me from recommending this book to someone. If you like fluffy romances with queer main characters, this book is for you.

This was a cute romance, but the narrative drags a little. I loved the side characters in this book. They were probably my favorite part and I think I liked them more then the main characters. Overall, it was a good read.
Thanks NetGalley and Kensington Books for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for early access to For Her Consideration. For me this book didn’t work. It’s not a bad book at all and it’s well written. I feel like it’s just me.
After a disastrous end to a relationship, Nina left her friends and changed her life. Years later, she ends up falling for someone famous. All of that sounds fantastic but this is the second book I’ve read where half the relationship is a famous person and I haven’t liked either of them so maybe it’s me. I might be the problem here.
I didn’t hate the idea or even the execution of this book. It just didn’t pull me in like I’d expected it to. Nina’s self confidence bar is so low it’s in the basement. While I understand that’s part of her journey - half at fault of her ex - it’s just too much sometimes.
However, I did enjoy how down to earth Ari is and I’m also a bit of a control freak so it was refreshing to see that in a positive light instead of a negative one. I didn’t connect enough with this book - but I know it’ll work for the right person.

I have been reading very bad sapphic books. Which means more are getting published. But still sad. Or maybe I'm in a book slump, who knows?

This was a really cute romance. I enjoyed the two main characters as well as the supporting cast. I did get a little frustrated by the lack of communication that the main character had with pretty much anyone, but I get where that is where the conflict came into play. I enjoyed this a lot.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me an ARC in return for an honest review.

I usually don’t read romance, but this was a fun, light story, with endearing characters. I found myself rooting for Nina to overcome her insecurities and learn to love and trust again. The writing was compelling. Nina’s friend group and her relationship with her 80-year-old aunt round out this story and make it extra satisfying.
3.5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.

This book was really enjoyable! It did start a bit slow for me and felt very long but by the end I was hooked. The way the author was able to write the book from Nina’s perspective was truly amazing. She thought so poorly of herself and it annoyed me so much every time she doubted herself or thought she was the problem. I wanted to jump into the book and shake her and tell her she isn’t a burden so many times!! I do love how body positive she was. Overall a great book with lots of great representation!

christ. where do I start; how is it that despite claiming to not care for romcoms, every romcom arc I get approved for both tears me to shreds and puts me back together!!!!!! this is so sick and twisted.
this book was a little to slow to start I'm not gonna lie-- it took me a while to get into the groove of things but also there were a lot of things going on in my life when I got approved to read this. being faced with the impending deadline for my review I picked up the pace and it literally got to the point where I read half of it in an entire day. but thinking about it now, the pacing being slower in the beginning is logical due to the character development arc. I'm just so UGHSJDFHKSDF this book was so good and I know I say that about every goddamn book I ever read and I know I hand out 5 star ratings like candy but I truly mean it when I say I really enjoyed this book.
I saw so much of myself in Nina Rice. like so much. I don't know if it was the authors intentions but her actions and inner dialogue are SUCH good representation of ptsd/cptsd thoughts. it was so refreshing to see the unreasonable thoughts I suffer from CONSTANTLY being represented in media and being treated fairly. Nina's actions weren't swept under the rug just because she was suffering; people made her take accountability and that's also SO important to me. the healthy communication and progression of self-awareness in this novel is truly astounding and it was genuinely fucking amazing to read. yes this is a romcom, but its also a commentary on mental illness and the ugly things it can do to you and make you do.
I also did in fact cry. I love a good book cry and by god this was a good one. genuinely it just UGH like I can't put all of my thoughts to words right now I guess you'll all just have to read it! wow!!11!! this was genuinely just such a phenomenal representation of the fact that people can do hurtful things but it doesn't make them bad people, nor does it mean they did it on purpose. it was healing to see that you can recover from that mindset, and that people can embrace you with love and understanding when you explain it to them.
also. the dynamic between Nina and Ari hehe I am obsessed with them!!!!!! I also love that their conflicts forced Nina to spend time with herself and her thoughts; romcoms don't usually spend that much time focusing on character development aside from the normal amount, and this novel did it beautifully so that by the end of the novel the two of them were both fully developed people capable of a healthy relationship.
also. representation!!! describing Nina as fat was such a powerful thing to do in that it's being reclaimed as a positive descriptor rather than a negative one like it usually is. and it never focused on how Nina didn't like her body-- granted it was hinted at and touched on briefly, but it was always emphasized how much Nina loved her body. it's very refreshing to see unashamed love of fat bodies.
but yes. this was such a good book I'm just like. AGHHHH I need to bitch and whine about this asap so add it to your tbrs immediately please

This was a really fun story with complicated characters. I would love a sequel to see what happens with others from the friend group.
