Lovely sapphic LGBT novel. I loved the representation of a bigger sapphic girl. These characters were lovingly written and it showed throughout.

Three years after an ugly breakup with her awful (in my opinion) ex-girlfriend, she took a mental and physical hit to her very core and she hasn’t yet recovered. She’s become a functional recluse and leave the home to deal with people in person only when absolutely necessary. She is convinced that she only causes pain to others so has chosen to step back from the real world. She works/hides behind her computer screen and is seemingly content. And then she gets an email that compels her to re-enter the world. Its a lovely story of self discovery, friendship, relationships, love, trust and so much more. A sweet contemporary romance.

Romances set in Hollywood do something to me, I just adore them. Nina wants to be a scriptwriter for TV, but currently she works at a talent agency managing the email accounts for celebrities. After a pretty big break up, she has moved to the suburbs of LA and is living in her aunt’s condo, having cut off almost everyone in her life. When Ari Fox, a young popular actress asks for a meeting with the person controlling her email account because they don’t sound like her, Nina’s life flips upside down.

Nina and Ari hit it off almost immediately and strike up a friendship where Nina is pining after someone she thinks could never love her back. Whilst this is a romance, For Her Consideration is also about Nina reconnecting with her friends and learning to love herself and to appreciate change. Nina undergoes a lot of character development in this and I loved seeing her grow into herself. The romance was so cute and I was obsessed with their chemistry and the tension between these two.

This is a fun cute and sweet story with some spice of famous/non-famous sapphic romance. It's an okay read for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC!

For Her Consideration is a sapphic romcom that forgets romance books require both main characters to have depth and backstory.

Nina as a main character, while frustrating at times, is written well. She has fears, hopes and dreams, and real insecurities that I, as the reader, could relate to. Her love interest, Ari, while written attractive and confident, has no depth beyond that. We hardly, if ever, see conversations on the page between Nina and Ari that convince us their connection is more than physical and surface level. I needed Ari's character to be more fleshed out. If she had been, maybe I would've cared about the third-act breakup.

If there's one thing this book does right--it's the side characters. Each one felt extremely real and had in spades the depth Ari was lacking.

Some references I became annoyed with:
-La Croix--it must be an LA thing because everyone is popping open La Croix in this book
-Nina's obsession with chai--I swear it was mentioned at least 10 times
-Waiters--they go to a lot of restaurants in this book (which was perfectly fine), and every single time a waiter/waitress's facial expression is noted (which was not fine). I don't care how the wait staff reacts to the tense conversations you're having in a restaurant. According to this book, every single wait staff person has spot-on intuition on when they should leave without taking an order due to tense looks on the characters' faces. I thought this was ridiculous to include for one and extremely overused for two.

This book, while only 320 pages, felt extremely long. When I was 50% of the way through, it felt like the story was over and I was confused about what could possibly take up the last half. Not a lot is the answer.

I skimmed the last 10% after the third-act breakup because I knew exactly how it would play out.

While I was hopeful in the beginning and For Her Consideration held a lot of promise, it focused on the wrong thing: repetition over characterization.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for sending me the ARC. I really liked this book! Ari and Nina were soo cute. And thankfully, Ari saw the light and realizes what was right in front of her.

This book is adorable. I really love Nina e I’m in love with Ari, she’s so great (and I thought of Ariana de Bose ALL THE TIME!). Their romance is sweet and heartlighted and I really love the slow burn.
But my favorite thing is the Nina’s arc. And the way she finally accept that she was in an abusive relationship with Taylor, but the abuser wasn’t her, it was Taylor the whole time.
I also enjoyed the chosen family trope, but if I have to be completely honest, I’d like a little more effort by them when Nina disappeared from their life.

However, the book is really cute and I enjoyed it a lot. I’ll miss those characters!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

This book was absolutely adorable and I loved it. I live Ari and Nina and their friend circle was just beyond. What an amazing found family!
Taylor was a jerk but the grace Nina showed during that entire situation was unmatched.
I love how Ari and she struck up a friendship first and then just connected so well, it was a no brainer how well they would fit together.

I do kind of wish they hadn’t spent so much time apart, but I kinda get all the growth and conversations that needed to happen in between.

A fun little romance perfect for people who enjoyed the celebrity aspect of Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner.

All the characters were quite well fleshed out, especially the MC's friend group. Seeing them get used to being together again and reminiscing on past experiences and old memories of how they got to know each other worked well for both the plot and the characters themselves.

The romance was pretty solid, although I would've appreciated a bit more slowburn, personally. I also expected a bit more smut considering it's a romance but I found the fade to black aspect worked just as well for the story.

I did think that the third-act break up in this just felt pointless and could've easily not have happened if they'd communicated a tiny bit more. I also felt like her hang up on her relationship was just too much. Somehow she still hadn't gotten over a break up from three years ago and avoided her friend group for those three years and it all felt too much for me. I feel like maybe if the post break-up period should have been shorter, at least a year.

Do you know when you read a book in the perfect moment? For Her Consideration had the perfect pace and talked about the precise things that are kinda happening right now in my life so I not only loved it but also thought it found me in the *right* moment.

I loved Nina and her friends, the romance with Ari, sweet and confident Ari, and her relationship with her aunt. It has great LGBTQ+ rep, briefly mentions mental health and, this was directed at me I'm sure the author read my struggles, talked about how pursuing dreams is always a gamble. In the end the choices relies in knowing what dreams are worth the risk.

When her awful girlfriend broke up with her three years ago, she also took away whatever self-respect and confidence Nina Rice had to begin with. Convinced she only hurts the people she loves, Nina has become some sort of recluse, mostly working from home as an email ghostwriter for celebrities. One such email brings her back out of the suburbs and into L.A. where up-and-coming, out-and-proud actress Ari Fox proceeds to change her life.

It took about half the book for the story to really grab me but I found myself smiling and caring about what happened to the characters a lot more in the second half. Both MCs are sweet but I kept wanting to shake Nina and while Ari seems terrific, I never really got a full sense of who she is. The secondary characters save the book for me, from Nina’s aunt and her retirement community cronies to her group of friends and even her boss and boss’s assistant. Since the story is told from Nina’s POV, it makes sense that Ari’s entourage is more blurry but also explains why I didn’t feel the character as much.

I have the feeling that this book would have worked much better for me as an audiobook.

Without a doubt my very favorite FF to . Nina and ari have chemistry from the very beginning. Nina struggles with self worth and her place in the world after a horrible break-up, that her old girlfriend systematically lists Nina's shortcomings. Nina quietly struggles with this until years later and it almost ruins the best relationship Nina has ever had. Nina learns her chosen family is there for everything and lives her unconditionally, only then does Nina learn to live herself. Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC it was just fantastic.

Man this book was just what I needed! Nina Rice reminded me of myself a few years ago and seeing her learn to be less afraid and trust and let people in was so good for the soul. Was she mildly infuriating sometimes? Absolutely, but that's what makes her so loveable. Her friend group and Ari were all so wonderful and I would love to have Lorna in my life any day. Reading this book felt like reading about a big family and I truly hope we maybe get more books about this group because I immediately wanted to read more!

This was a fun, enjoyable romcom and it was so incredibly diverse! I really loved that part of this book.

We follow Nina, who distances herself from her life & friends after a nasty break-up. That is until she has to meet one of the actresses she writes emails for and she seems to be everything Nina needs to get her life back.

I have to reiterate; this book was incredibly diverse! We have a sapphic main character, who also has many lesbian friends and one non-binary friend (we do meet some other people on the LGBTQIAP+ spectrum, but they don’t play large roles). I loved this so much!! It was so refreshing to read a fun romcom with a sapphic relationship.

The writing style was also very nice. Most of the chapters are quite short, which made it very easy to read and you never wanted to stop reading.
It did take me some time to get into the story as Nina isn’t the happiest person when the book starts, but after Ari (the romantic interest) is introduced, the story starts flowing quite nicely.

I loved every character so much. They all really contributed something to the story and they felt like such a nice group of friends to hang out with.
I found Nina a very relatable character. She has some issues after her last breakup and some of the stuff she goes through or how she thinks about herself hit close to home for me. I had tears in my eyes more than once.
But it definitely wasn’t a sad story, on the contrary. It’s very hopeful, queer positive and also quite funny!

I really recommend this book if you’re looking for a funny, positive romcom with a diverse cast of characters & a sapphic main romance, that also tackles some harder topics.

What a great book! In her adult romance debut, Amy Spalding explores how a breakup can affect someone's life, especially when accompanied by harsh words that bring the protagonist's self-esteem to a new low.

Nina is used to being in the shadows. Her job is to hide behind words that she pretends are someone else's. And after her ex Taylor's long list of reasons for the breakup, Nina's more than ok with staying hidden. In fact, she chose to isolate herself in her condo in the suburbs.

For three years, Nina's lived peacefully like that. Until Ari Fox, an up-and-coming actress who's a client of hers, asks to spend some time with her so that she can better imitate her words. A coffee date turns into multiple dates and every time they're together, it becomes more and more difficult for Nina to stay hidden.

I love Nina. I love her insecurities and vulnerabilities. I love that she makes a lot of mistakes, and yet she has the best of friends who are ready to help her get back to herself. I love that Ari falls for her, flaws and all.

This is one of those books that might not be some people's cup of tea. The protagonist isn't sure of herself, girlpower, and all. She's a woman figuring her shit out after being dealt a bad hand. I'd love for everybody to be unaffected by harsh words like Taylor's for Nina, but the truth is, most people would take them to heart. And it's comforting seeing characters like this today. This one is for us, insecure girlies!

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the ARC. This was a cute LGBTQ+ romance with a Hollywood star and someone in that ecosystem. It was all a bit fantastical in how Ari was so immediately into Nina but I have come to expect that with romance novels. It did become annoying closer to the end how much Nina believed herself to be cursed and sabotaged herself but thankfully she got her head out of her bottom and got moving. Lorna was a delight throughout the novel and I adored the scenes with her. Cute and quick, a solid read. 3.5 stars. .

A sapphic romance set in Los Angeles, in Amy Spalding's 'For Her Consideration', we meet Nina, a curvy femme queer who - after a terrible break-up - retreats from everything and everyone to her aunt's condo in the suburbs. The reason? Her ex sent her a long list of her flaws, and now all Nina can do is keep her distance, lest she ruin everyone else's lives too. At least that's what she believes.

But Nina's insecurities wear on the reader from early on, and I found it hard to connect with her character, or to even care about her blossoming friendship - and maybe more - with actress Ari Fox.

It's Nina's job to write emails on behalf of celebrities, and this is how she connects with Ari. I found the background to the story interesting, but I never quite believed the chemistry between the two main characters. Perhaps this is because the novel is a single POV - Nina's - and I couldn't focus on anything over the constant, deafening drone of her doubts.

I love the inclusion of a great group of queer friends, but the way Nina was welcomed back into the fold was too easy and just not realistic. I would have loved to see some real tension here, for the friends to work through it and make it out the other side without Nina's THREE-YEAR ghosting being treated like a three-week absence.

Overall, I found Nina's character juvenile and the steam very tame, and while the book held my attention, nothing about it wowed me.

Ooohhh I loved this book and how queer it felt!!!
I really enjoyed this read and I'm so happy I got the arc. Now, I have a problem with one character, Nina, because she can be annoying. I'm not a person with an awesome self-esteem but damn Nina wins an award on it!!! She can be annoying and instead of making me love her for her flaws it made me feel like I wanted to slap her hahahaha. But the book, in general, was really good. The friendships are awesome, the family interactions... I just loved it.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and netgalley for the arc!!!!! ⭐️ the book is available now!!!!!

I really enjoyed this queer famous person/normal person romance! I felt the connection between the characters right away and I liked how their relationship dynamic grew throughout the story. They felt like they had a realistic amount of conflict in their relationship, which lead to the third act breakup feeling more believable than usual. The focus on other relationships for the main character is exactly what I want in a romance, with Nina's relationship with her queer friend group and her great Aunt taking up a lot of positive space in her life! I would recommend this!

I found myself texting "TAYLOR IS THE WORST" so many times! How dare she leave Nina in such a headspace. I loved this LA, and would love to visit it. Have been recommending to every romance reader I know.
