Twists and turns abound in this latest book by Lisa Childs. More secrets are revealed. There’s another murder and it all centers around Halcyon Hall. The romance in this storyline is between Edie and Elijah. I love the banter between these two. The attraction between the two of them is electric. The writing is terrific. I spent the day reading this book and just loved it.

This romantic suspense feels like a gothic novel definitely. From the very first page this story takes off and doesn’t let go. I was a little confused because I haven’t read the first two books but it was very enjoyable page turning read.

A resort that used to be a sanatorium. That’s a horror Film in the making.
A reporter trying to find out the truth about the past and a Dr looking for a murderer.

Elijah Cooke made a deal with the devil his grandfather and now they are dropping like flies.

He knew the truth, though, that Edie Stone’s only interest in him was so she could get to the truth. Or what she thought the truth was . . . about the manor, about his family .

This book was so exciting to read. Interesting plot. It was very well written. Was a bit confusing to begin with due to the vast amount of characters thrown into the mix. But didn’t let it put me off.

This one picks up right where the last book ended. And while I've been hooked by the series this one fell a little flat. I enjoyed the characters. Elijah was one I was looking forward to seeing more in depth. I also really liked Edie. The current mystery was easy to figure out. And while there were a couple answers a lot is left open for the next book which I assume will be Bode's. That's okay but it left no resolution to Edie's story. The romance is great though. It isn't forced or insta. Overall it's a good read and I'll definitely read the next book.

A page turrner to the end. I love a good mystery and this has it all A handsome Dr, a beautiful reporter that fights to find the truth, a body building brother whose girlfriend is murdered and a spa set in a refurbished Manor where many women were committed and many went missing. A read you can't put down.

It’s my fault entirely, but I didn’t realise this was part of an established series. Entirely my fault for not checking.
With that being said. It was actually still ok. I was able to enjoy the story, the characters, the writing style, it was good.
There were references made that perhaps I would have understood more had I actually read the ones that came before.
But the author has made this work of you’re just joining it or as a stand alone.

I’ll now have to pop on and look for the previous novels.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for my arc.

This is a very enjoyable read. Each new book in the series just gets better and this series is very addictive as you just want all the answers and it leaves you wanting the next book in the series.

I received an ARC of, The Missing, by Lisa Childs. What an intriguing story, an abandoned hospital, what happened to the people who stayed there. This is a very secretive town. Such a good read.

You enter this series mid stream. It would be easier if you have read the series from the start as there are plenty of references to previous books. This book is a continuation of a series of murders started at Halcyon Hall a former insane asylum. Dr Elijah Cooke has just survived an attempted murder and reporter Edie Stone believes they are not finished. Everyone in the family is suspect and Elijah and Edie’s relationship moves to the next level when they become the latest victims.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Missing is situated on a remote island off of the coast of Maine. Once a psychiatric hospital of questionable methods, a woman disappeared from there many years prior to reporter Edie's visit. Now a wellness center/spa Edie goes to visit and seeks to find the reason for the disappearance.

Dr. Elijah Cook is the grandson of the psychiatrist who ran the mental hospital and now runs the wellness center. He serves as the psychiatrist and director.

The people who live on the island all appear to have secrets that they are not talking about. It begins to appear that both Edie and Elijah are getting to close to answers which puts their lives at risk.

Gothic, remote, and a dash of romance make this a good combination for a good read. Note: this is the third in the series.

Thanks to Zebra books and Netgalley for the ARC

Bainesworth Manor has been reincarnated as Halcyon Hall, a wellness spa that screams luxury. However, the ghosts of the past rise as the mystery of women vanishing remain unsolved. The Missing by Lisa Childs is a gothic, thrilling read with a dash of romance. The first few pages were overwhelming as multiple characters were introduced, and it wasn't easy to keep track of them. While the pacing of this book was good, it constantly references the previous books I haven't read. As a result, I felt a bit lost. Therefore, I believe that it is not a stand-alone book. The chemistry between Edie and Elijah was well written, and I supported them right from the start. Edie's grit, determination and perseverance, along with Elijah's observations and empathy, were woven well in this mystery read. Their dialogues made me laugh! Overall, it was a 3-star read.

A thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for giving me an ARC. This honest review is left voluntarily.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Kensington Books and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

It’s a difficult read as it refers to previous novels almost immediately. The assumption the reader has read them is grandiose. I DNF as it was quite overwhelming and confusing to me.

I have read many books where I know it’s part of a series I have entered midstream. This one has so many references to previous episodes that after a few pages I checked out. It clearly assumes you have already read the previous volumes and I’m not going to do that. I tried.

Back in the day, Bainesworth Manor was a psychiatric hospital, and the rumors of women disappearing from there are still whispered about to this day, forty years later. Now, reporter, Edie Stone is headed to the remote island in the wake of a modern day murder. She wants to investigate the murder and look into the disappearances, but the island of its few residents are loath to give up any answers. A new wellness retreat housed in the same facility as the old hospital is being run by the grandson of the doctor who ran the psychiatric facility and he seems a little too protective of his family’s past and their secrets. Just what does he know and what does it have to do with the attempts on his and Edie’s lives.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. I like books by this author but this one is confusing. I had a difficult time keeping track of the characters and their relationships to others...the plot is confusing also...what is happening when? This is a talented and gifted author, but I wish the story could be less convoluted. The idea of the spa on the property of the old hospital is brilliant...this should be an easy read.
