Still Waters, the 7th book in the outstanding FBI K-9 series by Sara Driscoll was everything I have come to expect of this series; warm, intense, emotional, complex, fun and so much more. The mystery is as compelling as the characters and for me that is a rare thing. The interaction of the characters is wonderful and provides a great balance to the intensity of the investigations and searches. Action and adventure are highlighted alongside the great characters who create an awesome ensemble. I adore Hawk, the amazing SARs Labrador, appreciate the comradery between Brian and Meg that includes both humor, deep loyalty, and true friendship, and greatly enjoy the friends and family who are always there to offer a hand. More than ever, Meg comes to realize that the whole team is a family, not just the dogs and their handlers (best friends) and that family extends to others in her life who are always available for emotional support or to help the team. While I question how realistic it is that outsiders are allowed in, I love it! For me, their participation, even on the fringes, enhances the already fantastic novels.
This time Meg really needs both aspects of that support when fairly new FBI agent puts her at the top of the suspect list after one of the SARs teams participating in new training and in a weekend competition is discovered dead and obviously murdered. It doesn't help that Meg and Hawk are first on the scene and that Meg, among several, had words with the victim.
As a new fan to the FBI K-9 series who just finished the first 6 books, I was thrilled to be approved for a NetGalley ARC of Still Waters. I want to thank Kensington and NetGallery for allowing me the opportunity to read Still Waters early. I had just finished the sixth book with I found this one on NetGallery so you can imagine my joy seeing that I was approved. To put it lightly, Still Waters did not disappoint!

This is one of the most entertaining books I’ve had the pleasure to read recently. One of the reasons is that the search and rescue dogs play a huge role.
The book is set in the Boundary Waters area in northern Minnesota Durand a training and competition for SAR teams -dogs and handlers from all over the country. The focus dog is named Hawk wit his handler Meg. But in the midst of the weekend a murder happens and Meg and Hawk get thrust in the middle of the investigation.
Extremely hard to but down as the action is mostly nonstop. Loved the book and the story.
