I was really looking forward to this book but the writing was patchy and I couldn’t stay interested at all.

Well written with a gripping storyline and well developed characters. I liked the setting and the paranormal element in the book as well. It was well paced and fukll of action. A really enjoyable read.

Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, and a good who done it! It had a bit of a paranormal feel to it too! The storyline was very interesting and flowed nicely! I'm not big on paranormal books but this one was definitely a decent read! I will recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Cold case missing person whodunnit. Lured back to her home town after almost 30 years, Jo, a former war correspondent, is finally ready to use her investigative skills to find out the what really happened just before her high school graduation. Is Sam missing or dead? Why does she have so few memories of her friends or the events of that year? Can she face her personal demons and solve this mystery? Red-herrings, intrigues, old grudges and lost memories keep the reader guessing. I found the main character compelling, the feelings and reactions to return to her small home town realistic. The investigation was more groping in the dark than a bloodhound on the trail, but still a compelling mystery. I wouldn’t have read this book, though if I’d know the author’s penchant for the supernatural. It was merely hinted at and used to drive the plot forward but for that reason I can’t recommend.

Jo is an ex-war reporter turned museum publicist who gets a mysterious message urging her to return to her old hometown. We know, from the prologue, things have gone badly for at least one of her old schoolfriends...and soon find out there's a lot of history that we, and Jo (due to a complete loss of memory from a period of her young adult life) has to find out.
The book moves along at a quick enough pace as she encounters old friends and acquaintances, but may be a bit too familiar for those who read a lot in the crime drama. There are supernatural touches that may appeal or come across as deus ex machina depending on your view point.
For me there were a few too many contrivances and unanswered questions at the end which I can't really go into without plot spoilers, but I'm sure it'll appeal to those who like a bit of chill in their 'hometown return' mysteries.
Thanks to the publishers and netgalley for the chance to read an ARC of this title.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Flame Tree Press and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Fast-Paced, a shockingly wild ride for the emotions. Twists, suspense and intrigue. Turns out of the blue you won’t see coming. Buckle in, you’ll thank me later.
