This book is about the Vietnam war and how it affected the Vietnam community and the people living in Vietnam.
Coming Home in Viet Nam is written in an almost poetic manner. It gives the perspective from the Vietnamese people, and how the war affected their lives. We have all seen movies and read about the Vietnam war, but never through the eyes of the Vietnamese people.
This book opens your eyes to what these poor people went through and how it stayed with them and generations to follow.

Although the book didn't seem to be well edited, it still made for a interesting read. If you are interested in history, then you will enjoy this book. It is however not written in normal book format but rather as poems from the writer to the reader.

I'm in tears after just finishing this. Post-Vietnam ptsd told through poetry. Not sure what else to add right now as all the memories are still fresh.

As a personal outlet for grief and to deal with post traumatic stress, a psychologist to Vietnam veterans, survivors and activists writes their stories in a form of poems. Heartfelt, sad, and hopeful are words to describe the feelings of war's aftermath.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the read.

To me, this read like strong undergraduate poetry--the voice needs time to develop and find its own unique place. A lot of the moves made in this collection were not wholly surprising, though I appreciated the rich sense of place and the honesty with which Tick approaches his subject.

The book itself has a lot of framework--a lengthy essay at the start, explanations I'm not sure were needed before the poems themselves began. Perhaps later--in the back of the book, a brief essay or notes would have filled that impulse.

I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
