This was funny enough - it wasn’t everything my Gilmore heart needed, but only the show can do that. Still a fun look at Lauren Graham!

Imagine my surprise when this turned out to be good. Essays which can form a memoir of sorts, about Hollywood and TV and movies, and how crazy it all is. Surprisingly down to earth and funny. Not David Sedaris funny, but chuckles here and there funny. She does no name dropping, except for Brad Pitt, who she has never met and is not a friend, but she likes to imagine he would be.

While HAVE I TOLD YOU THIS ALREADY has the strong voice of Lauren Graham - the fast-witted, fast-talking, fast-thinking Gilmore Girls vibe - the stories lacked a bit for me. I think fans of any of Lauren Graham's works will be delighted, but it wasn't as strong as her previous written works.

In Lauren Graham’s second book of essays, she comes back with more wit and charm. There are some recurring themes to the first, such as her Old Lady Jackson character, but there are new revelations as well. The chapters on aging and insights into the behind the scenes of Hollywood are great. Lauren Graham is a must read for fans of her acting work but also for anyone looking for a comedic escape.

I love Lauren Graham but this one just didn't hold my attention like her other books have. I ended up DNF'ing the book about halfway through.

Thank you to netgalley for providing an e-galley for review. Lauren Graham is one of those actors who seems entirely relatable even though she's famous. This new collection of stories reinforces this feeling. She recounts her humble beginnings, body insecurities and financial woes with candor and humor that make her a fan favorite.

Lauren Graham has always been like her most famous character, Lorelai Gilmore and the books that she has written have always been fun reads, with heart, emotion and life lessons. Have I Told You This Already? was another Lauren Graham masterpiece written the same way as her previous books. I really enjoyed this one and the new stories! She is just so funny! Highly recommend, especially if you are a fan!

I, like many of my generation, watched every single episode of Gilmore Girls. Multiple times. Sure, the show and characters may not hold up these days, but I loved it and I loved Lauren Graham in it. I’ve read most of her other books and really enjoy getting in insight into her life so I was definitely interested in her latest book of essays, Have I Told You This Already?: Stories I Don’t Want to Forget to Remember. It was a lot of fun to read!

Here’s the book’s description:
Candid, insightful, and wildly entertaining essays about life, love, and lessons learned as an actress in Hollywood, from the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and New York Times bestselling author of Talking as Fast as I Can.
With her signature sense of humor and down-to-earth storytelling, Lauren Graham opens up about her years working in the entertainment business—from the sublime to the ridiculous—and shares personal stories about everything from family and friendship to the challenges of aging gracefully in Hollywood. In "RIP Barneys New York," she writes about an early job as a salesperson at the legendary department store -- and the time she inadvertently shoplifted; in "Ne Oublie" she warns us about the perils of coming from an extremely forgetful family; and in "Actor-y Factory" she recounts what a day in the life of an actor looks like (unless you’re Brad Pitt).
Filled with surprising anecdotes, sage advice, and laugh-out-loud observations, Graham's latest collection of all-new, original essays showcases the winning charm and wit that she's known for.
In an age where celebrity memoirs can be overly gossipy and tell-all-like, it was kind of refreshing to read Graham’s carefully curated stories. They were still so very her and gave some insight on her life, the work she’s done, and the people she’s met, but it was still very private. I totally respect that and appreciate her giving just as much of herself to us as she felt comfortable doing. And I didn’t feel like I missed out on any juicy stories. It was just like a friend with a super cool job was telling me some stories of her life. It had a good vibe! I think that vibe can be attributed to what the description calls “down-to-earth” storytelling. Graham wasn’t trying to shock us or spill all the tea. Just tell us some good stories.

While I got an egalley to review from the publisher, I ended up listening to the audiobook (thank you, library!) because Graham narrates it herself. That probably added a lot to my enjoyment of the book - it was almost like we were sitting together over a drink as she was telling me her stories. Not all authors (or actors) are good narrators but Graham is. It was a really satisfying listen.

This is not a long book, sitting at just 183 pages. I might be a little bit disappointed that it wasn’t longer but only because I feel like there are so many more stories Graham could have shared. I’m trying to tell myself it was as long as it needed to be but, honestly, I wish there had been more.

Have I Told You This Already? is a book for Lauren Graham fans. In this latest book of essays, she tells us a few stories from her life - both personal and professional - she thinks we’ll enjoy and enjoy them we do. If this one sounds like one you’d like to pick up, I’d recommend the audiobook so you can listen to Graham tell you her stories herself.

I love Lauren!!! This was a wonderful collection of stories from different times in her life and I ate it up. While of course I was hoping to get some more tea spilled in this book, I was sorely disappointed and that’s ok. This book was still absolutely delightful and I was sad to see it end.

Lauren Graham’s voice and stories are so inviting especially for Gilmore Girls fans, it has a comforting effect. Lauren shared stories of her life with humor that leave the reader/listener feeling like they just left coffee with a close friend.

This is the first book I have read by Lauren Graham. I was looking forward to some fun, juicy stories, yet was left wanting. The included anecdotes felt disjointed and random, with no common theme. Some tidbits were interesting enough to keep me reading, but unfortunately, I was looking forward to the book drawing to a close. I continue to like Lauren Graham as an actress and a person, yet I will hesitate to read another book that she has authored.

I didn’t end up finishing this book. There was too much swearing and vulgar language. I was hoping for more of the Lorelei-esque stories. However, I know that Lauren was trying to branch out from under that umbrella.

I only recently watched Gilmore Girls, missing out on it all those years ago but once I started I was immediately a fan. The characters and actors were all great so when I saw this come out, I imagined it would be enjoyable and I was right. Lauren Graham seems like a person you would love to hang out with and the stories are what you'd expect to enjoy hearing her tell.

In her newest collection of essays, Lauren Graham bares more of her soul. The anecdotes are funny and down-to-Earth, just like the writer herself. Graham's essays feel like having a casual conversation with someone who may turn out to be a good friend. Readers familiar with Nora Ephron can see her influence.

My favorite stories were "Boobs of the '90s" and "Old Lady Jackson Takes You to Dinner at 5 P.M." I also really enjoyed "I Feel Bad About Nora Ephron's Neck" and agree that I wish Ephron was still alive and "The Most of Nora Ephron" isn't quite enough.

I recommend this book to fans of essays, particularly those of "sort-of" celebrities who don't need to be shielded from the paparazzi as they leave Barney's (R.I.P.).

I'm a huge Gilmore Girls fan and I adore Laruen Graham. I"m not sure how I haven't read any of her books before but that will be rectified soon! I truly enjoyed reading Have I Told You This Already?! Reading it, I felt like I could hear Lauren's voice relating the stories fast like Lorelei Gilmore. She's hilarious! Her comedic timing comes through the writing! It feels like you're sitting down for coffee with a friend. Lauren is authentic, sassy, and funny! She feels so relatable even though she's a Hollywood star. She shares stories that highlight her successes and failures. She talks about friends, family, and aging. It was over too soon! I'm left feeling a need to watch Parenthood. Such a fun memoir! I feel like this would be an epic audiobook!!

Thank you Netgalley, Random House Publishing, and Ballantine Books for my review copy!

Beloved Gilmore Girls actress, Lauren Graham, returns to the publishing world with another fun collection of humorous essays chronicling her career, wellness camps, puppies, aging, and more. Known for her fast-talking humor, candor, and comical view of the world - this collection of essays will appeal to many female readers. Filled with anecdotes, directing advice, shoplifting, eyebrow woes, and more - this isn't just your average trash celebrity memoir, although there is some fun name-dropping and Hollywood stories. Have I Told You This Already is a light-hearted look behind the curtain into the life and mind of one of the most down-to-earth celebrities in this day and age? Narrated by the actress herself, readers are in for a treat with Lauren’s comedic timing, pleasant voice, and candid “we could be friends” attitude. A light-hearted essay collection that shines because of the expert narration is well worth a listen.

Lauren Graham's newest book. I actually would have liked this best if I listened to her read it. This is short and not super deep but a nice quick read and perfect for people who love Lauren Graham (obviously), Gilmore Girls, Parenthood, etc.

Thank you NetGalley and Lauren Graham for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review/opinion.

I didn't finish this book, but it has no baring on the writing or the author (whom I really adore, really), but I just wasn't into the content. I think this is a great book for people who are interested in "the business" and perhaps those who have been in it, and I was once that person (with an interest in it), but I'm just not that person anymore.

I think a lot of her references of Hollywood, and her experience as an actor can be translated to everyday people and their life experiences. Perhaps I should try picking this book up another time to read, because I did enjoy her other books!

I did read about 3/4 of it before stopping, and the parts I read were reminiscent of Nora Ephron, whom she has an entire chapter about, but with a bit of a youthful peppiness to it. I especially liked her "Help, i've fallen and I can't get up" reference towards the end, and the Jay Leno story was lovely, as well as intriguing (they really wanted her to change the model of her car that day, and I just find that so odd...and now makes me not trust talk shows anymore...).

No star rating because it wouldn't be fair to the author.
