Trauma is a subject that very few people are willing to discuss and as the newly minted Marquess of Kingston wrestles with nightmares in the aftermath of the war he helped to fight, he feels that he is damaged goods. Meeting the vivacious Miss Minta Nicholls gives his heart wings, but how is it possible to subject such a beautiful woman to his demons? The only way is to set her free to look in another direction. However, Minta has met the Marquess, been kissed by him, and fallen in love with him, and despite his error in judgment, she is willing to forgive him for his lapses. This is a well-written love story of love and redemption if the Hero is willing to accept that the woman in his arms has the answer to his nightmares. The novel is part of the Second Sons Series, but is a standalone and can be read as such, although it does help if one is fully appraised of the background. Although Percy and Minta have their ups and downs, this romance comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Araminta “Minta” Nicholls and her family have been stranded in Canada due to the war between England and the Colonies. When restrictions are lifted, she is sent to England to have a season and find a spouse. What she didn’t expect to find was the man next door. Lord Kinston, Percy, never expected to become the Marquess of Kingston, much less see the sudden need to take a wife. His reticence and shyness play a part in the back and forth between the hero and heroine.
Minta is headstrong, but she knows that the Marquess is the one for her. However, getting him to admit and commit is proving to be a problem-for both of them. But the Marquess has a secret that he doesn’t know how to tell a future wife and can’t see his way to subjecting Minta, the love of his life, to his misery.
This is such a great story with so much give and take from each of them.

This story brought joy to my heart, with a hero that needed love so much and a heroine that would fit that special place if only they can find their way.

This series has been so gripping since the first and each second son has had a unique story. Although they can be read alone I urge you read them all. This may have been my favorite but one can never choose!!

Immerse yourself in Minta and Percy’s story and find a Hugh smile at the end! P S. Need a story for Boxling soon!!

Made for the Marquess is the fourth story in the Second Sons series. This is a delightful story that can stand on its own, but I liked it so much I was disappointed to find out I had started near the end of the series. I could see that there might be another book to follow this one. I am looking forward to reading all of the books in this series.

In nobility, first sons are the heirs to their fathers, second sons for the military, third sons for the priesthood. So our story begins with Percy a second son, who is friends with other second sons. Percy, still fighting a war that he hates for all that he has been called to do. He longs for the war to be at an end, but it is not. He receives a letter he believes is from his older brother, never close, Percy wonders what his brother would write to him about. The letter is full of nothing from his brother, and he is disappointed as he refolds the letter. There is another letter from B. Harris who is unknown to Percy. It is with deep regret, he is informed of his brothers passing and he is to resign his commission to return at once and do his duty as Marquess of Kingston. While he returns home he has not left the war behind him. It haunts him at night in his dreams.

Araminta is staying with her Aunt and Uncle in England in order to come out in society. She meets Percy at a dinner and is taken with him. Percy still struggling is also shy and quiet with people he has just met. But he is drawn to Minta as she is not only beautiful but kind. Minta's aunt is not impressed with the Marquess, but Minta sees him for who he is and would like to get to know him better. As her season begins, she meets and makes new friends, the second sons and their wives the three cousins. Minta is happy to have these people as her friends as they accept her and hope she and Percy will make a good match.

I love the story of the second sons, and their wives the three cousins. They are an interesting and very likeable group of of genuinely good people who support and love each other. Minta is such a strong character and her strength allows Percy to be himself and lean on her. The story is wonderfully woven together with Percy struggling and Minta hoping for a loving husband. You can't help but be caught up in the fantastic story.

Second sons serve in the military, unless…

Percy wants nothing more than to leave the war and his nightmares behind. When Percy receives word that his beloved brother has died in a sailing accident, and that he is the new Marquess of Kingston, he returns to England. He leaves the war behind, but the nightmares go with him.

Percy is awkward, and uneasy in social situations, but the Second Sons and Three Cousins are there to help him find his way. He meets Minta, who has just returned from Canada, when he goes to dinner at her uncle’s estate. She is friendly, cheerful, and looking forward to the season. They seem to like each other from the start, but Percy’s demons may keep them apart. Minta wants to help him. Will he let her in? Percy and Minta’s story is one of finding the way home, physically and emotionally. The characters, many whom we have already met, are intelligent, caring, and strong. The plot is touching and complex, an awesome addition to the series.

A sweet love story. There is no intrigue or reason holding this story back just a shy soldier with PTSD who doesn't think he is good enough and a strong heroine who is used to shy people and is prepared to work with him to make a good marriage and get him through his issue's. Nicely written and even paced with the other second son's and their wives helping out. Looking forward to Win's story and hope Lord Boxling get his HEA. War and a come out.

I really liked Percy and Minta together.
Percival has to return from war to take up the title. He's dealing with PTSD and the nightmares of war.
Minta is making her delayed come out.

Recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Percy and Minta’s romance was turbulent but passionate. I loved Percy. Percy was damaged from the war; nightmares terrorized him. Percy was reserved and shy. Minta was Percy’s opposite. Having her come-out postponed, Minta is attending the season looking for a husband but not necessarily love – until she meets Percy.

Percy and Minta’s courtship starts off rocky and evolves into a disaster. The plot flowed well, and the primary and secondary characters were vivid and lovable. Made For The Marquess is the fourth book in the Second Sons Of London series. I read this book as a stand-alone, but I enjoyed it enough to go back and read the previous books in the series. I loved the premise of these friends who are second sons that inherit the title when the first son dies. The bond and camaraderie between the friends are fun to read. Alexa Aston has done a fantastic job creating a group of characters I care about and a romance I can invest in.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lieutenant-Colonel Percival Perry is an outstanding army officer but he’s shy. Percy is tired of fighting & is thinking of resigning his commission when he receives news of his brother Rupert’s accidental drowning, so he returns home take up his title as Marquis of Kingston. This also means he’ll be separated from his cousin & best friend Win. Nightmares of the war plague Percy even as he longs for a wife and family, especially seeing his other friends ‘the second sons’ with their children. Araminta Nicholls is two and twenty and missed making her come-out, thanks to the Americans who started a war that kept her stuck in Canada for several years. Minta is ready to make up for lost time and find a husband so she can have the children she longs for. When she is introduced to a solemn marquis, Minta believes him to be much like her own shy twin and comes to have feelings for Lord Kingston. But how can Percy have a wife when he still suffers horrendous nightmares
This is the fourth book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own The Second Sons are a delight. I loved both Percy & Minta, he was so shy until he relaxed with friends, she’s intelligent & insightful. I loved their road to a HEA, which wasn’t easy as Percy constantly battled his insecurities. I found this to be a lovely love story & loved how Percy wasn’t miraculously cured but still battled his demons but he had Minta to support him. I look forward to the rest of the series. I once again devoured it in a sitting, I must learn to start the author’s books early in the day as once I start one of her books I’m not moving until I finish it

The fourth book in the Second Sons series finds our new shy and emotionally scarred Marquess looking for a wife. He meets outgoing and lively Minta and is smitten. However, he's afraid that with his nightmares that he's not deserving of her and tries to push her away. I enjoyed how she was able to understand that he was terribly shy and needed some warming up. I also loved how the ladies from the first three books welcomed Minta into their circle of friendship so easily.

Another good romance for a second son. This book follows Percy after he becomes Marquess after his brother's death.

This book introduces some new ladies, mainly Minta, since the three cousins were all married off in previous books.

I liked that this book took on a shy Percy, but also went into his PTSD from the war a bit too. I also liked Minta's character, but was hoping for maybe a little more detail from her background since she spent several years in Canada.

The romance portion was good even through Percy being a bit awkward sometimes. It could have been a little more steamy.

I am liking this series as a whole so far! One more second son left, Win's turn soon!

Thank you to Dragonblade and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

Another great romance from Alexa Aston! This is tied with Educated by the Earl for my favorite in the series. Percy's PTSD made him more interesting than the other Second Sons we've met so far - it gave him a little more substance than the others and made his reasons for pushing Minta away believable. His more quiet and reserved nature also allowed for more character development as he got more involved with Minta. I loved that Minta was willing to fight for Percy even when he was the one she had to fight against. That being said, I also liked that she didn't make it too easy for him after he said what he did to push her away. Of course it was good to see the Second Sons and Three Cousins supporting and encouraging both Percy and Minta. I'm assuming Sera and Win will be paired up in book 5. I would really like to see Boxling find his perfect someone, he's such a good guy.

Courage and Love:
A lovely romance story of friends helping friends finding the right one to love.
Wonderful intelligent characters, intriguing deeply emotional plot without any dull moments.
Very sweet until after marriage then more romance appeared to make this a happy endearing ending.
Minta and Percy's story of overcoming emotional scars.

Lieutenant-Colonel Percival Perry longs to leave the brutal war and his nightmares behind, but soon finds his wish fulfilled only because his older beloved brother dies in a sailing accident. Now thrust into the role of marquess, Percy is out of his depth. He was never supposed to inherit and doesn't know how to run his estate or make his way in polite society. Thankfully, his brother-in-arms, the Second Sons, have all been in similar situations and along with their wives help Percy navigate his way. Miss Minta Nicholls arrives from Canada for her much delayed coming out and is befriended by the wives of the Second Sons. It's where the meets Percy for the first time, but he's awkward and sullen around her. She suspects he's uncomfortable in his new position and finds herself drawn to him. Can they find common ground and possibly their own HEA?

There's not much action in this story, but instead follows Percy as he tries to reconcile himself to private life. His nightmares are the villains and almost destroy his chance at happiness with Minta. I liked Minta. She was level-headed, compassionate, and kind to others. She was also strong-willed and would not let Percy hide his broken soul from her. The story merely plods along with some steamy sex scenes toward the end. There are no big surprises or twists and turns in the story. Together Percy and Minta faced his demons and eventually found their HEA. It was a pleasant read. I suspect Win's story with Minta's twin is next up and that could prove an interesting read.

The fourth of the five Second Sons, Percival Perry, sells out his commission and leaves for England as the new Marquess of Kingston. While on his estate in Essex, he meets Araminta Nicholls at his neighbors' estate for dinner. Their first kiss is one of passion. Percy has a secret and thinks he's not good enough to be Minta's husband. But the heart knows what it wants and Minta wants Percy. A complex story of a tortured man who wants to push love aside, but his heart won't let him.

He just inherited his title as Marquess after his brother death . He suffers from PTSD and he believes he doesn 't diserve to find true love . She is a lovely and lively young lady which will make her debut at 22 because she was in Canada while England was in war with America . From the first time they meet there is attraction between them but he is trying to avoid it . All his friends will make him see that he is making a huge mistake . An other one happy end .

This is book 4 in the seconds sons series. I have had the privilege to read them all but you don't need to read them in order to understand the book. (But I recommend it just because they are wonderful books.) Percy finds that he hits it off with basically the first women that he meets, after he returns home, and of course he runs. There are no dramatic plots, no cliffhangers nothing but a wonderful love story. There is a little scene before they get married but the steamy scenes are saved for after marriage. The only beef I have with Alexa Aston is poor Lord Boxling always misses the girl. He is a wonderful side character. I hope he gets HIS HEA..

I recieved a free copy so that I can tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.

A romantic, sexy, and heart-warming story, Made for the Marquess is a wonderful addition to the Second Sons of London series. The story follows Minta and Percy as they both prepare for their first season in London. Both hope to find a spouse but have misgivings about it happening until they meet each other.

Minta has been in Canada and unable to return to London because of the war. She missed coming out and having a season and is excited to attend balls and find a husband. She stays with her aunt and uncle, who live next door to Percy, and she meets Percy when he attends dinner at her home. An introvert who has spent many years in the military and in war, Percy struggles with his memories and his shy demeanor. His reserved and awkward nature is often misinterpreted, but Minta, who has an equally shy twin sister, understands his discomfort.

Minta and Percy have a lovely opposites-attract romance. Minta is insightful and outgoing, whereas Percy is very shy and only feels comfortable around family and close friends. Though they have an instant connection, Percy feels he is too damaged and unworthy of Minta’s love. Percy goes through such an emotional journey as he adjusts to this new normal, faces his feelings, and struggles with trauma from the war. And I love how patient and understanding Minta is. She sees past his awkwardness and, though she is often confused by his erratic behavior, she never gives up hope. She and Percy have fantastic chemistry, and I so hoped that he would face his fears and see how worthy of love he was. Luckily, he has many people in his corner that are understanding and supportive.

In addition to the amazing love stories, the friendships in this series are fantastic. The Second Sons and the Three Cousins, and now Minta, have created this lovely group that is more family than friends. They are so supportive of each other, and the way that they are unequivocally there for each other is so heart-warming. They are patient and understanding. With Percy, for example, they all rally to help him learn the ins and outs of his new role. They give sound advice, teach him to dance, accompany him to the ton events, and more.

I know he’s a minor character and not one of the second sons, but I really hope Lord Boxling finds his HEA. He’s such a wonderful character and has proven to be a good and kind man. However, I’m thinking the next book is going to focus on Percy’s cousin, and I’m eager to learn more about him too. It sounds like Minta’s twin sister is due to arrive soon, as well, so who knows what will happen!

I would definitely recommend this book to historical romance readers. It’s romantic and emotional, and there are strong messages about found families, love, trauma, and more. Though it’s the fourth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. Thanks so much to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Enjoyed this sweet (and eventually steamy) tale of two people unused to the rules and strictures of Society and also trying to handle their immediate attraction to each other. There's no major jeopardy, no underlying mystery or adventure, but plenty of emotional development. Percy is suffering from his wartime experience and struggling with the new expectations of him as a marquess; in practical, empathetic Minta he finds someone who is willing and able to understand him, but he cannot believe that he deserves such a woman. The plot plays out beautifully with the support of genuine friends - it's the first one of this series that I've read, but I will seek out the others.

Awkward. I love how Alexa gives us a hero who is awkward and does not easily overcome his awkwardness. He learns to live through it with the help of his friends and the love of his life. The Second Sons are an awesome group of men (and their wives) who stick by, give advice and let others learn on their own. Fantastic. Minta is such a strong character and her strength brings Percy back into the folds of life. Alexa takes us on an emotional journey with horrors of war and the redemption of love.

Poor Boxling has once again been thwarted in the love department but I know he will find his love and I hope his story will be full of angst and things don’t come easy. Oh yeah, hope he has to work for it.
