I find books like this fascinating, and this was no exception.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

I didn't finish reading this book, it wasn't what I was hoping for.. I was hoping to learn how the food we eat affects the environment and climate change but this was just stated as fact rather than explaining the science behind it all.

I also didn't like that many of the statements made, such as figures were not backed up by references.. I didn't like how it was written either.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This book talked about the different types of diets and farming techniques. I am glad US products are now required to have a label stating if the product has a GMO product in it. I do wish the US had stricter laws on what could be added to our foods. I know many ingredients that are allowed to be put in US foods are banned in other countries because they’re harmful. They’re also cheaper than the real thing; such as natural dyes from plants instead of petroleum based colors.

This book has attempted to cover all aspects of food production and eating habits from prehistoric to futuristic methods. Facts and theories come hard and fast so be prepared! I found the book to be equal parts informative and confusing. I felt the author had his own clear vision to share but got lost in trying to present a very broad, unbiased overview of what’s wrong with our system and the many, many possibilities being proposed to feed the earth’s growing population. Near the end of the book there are many good suggestions about mindful eating and food appreciation, so skip to the end if you feel like you’re drowning in facts. I learned a lot but feel it’s a book with potential rather than being a great book. A good edit and proofread would make a huge difference.

An interesting exploration of different types of diet, such as the keto diet, the macrobiotic diet and so on, and the reasons why we need to improve our diet. I was particularly impressed by the bit on how to boost your brain power. I would recommend the book to all who wish to get healthy by improving their diet.
