Not for me. Very wordy but little substance, an odd combo. Seemed like the story was just padded to make it super long. The concept was good, but the writing did not work for me. While technically not bad, it just wasn’t to my tastes.

I was hooked from the cover and description, I loved the idea of a scifi book with humanoid animals due to unethical experiments. I found the world to be really interesting and really enjoyed the characters in this world. Troy was a great main character and he was a great lead to follow. I hope there is more in this universe and I had a great time reading this. I really felt for him and Jennifer about their past but I really enjoyed them getting to know them.

"“That’s when you’d mix up your production numbers?” She nodded slowly, rolling to her side. Looking at him, just at him. “Yeah.” “What was yours?” he asked, desperate to keep her eyes on him. “Thirty-one Thirteen. I like Jennifer better, though. Feels like me.” Troy dry swallowed. “It’s a beautiful name.” Green eyes, blazing at him. That was his reward for charming her, better than her secretive smile, almost as good as the way her ear flicked a little before she brushed her hair back. “Thank you.”
