This was an enjoyable collection of poetry which the writer described as life lessons in the guise of poetry.. This idea was executed well and all the word work felt interesting enough to keep the reader engaged throughout.

This is so powerful emotional poetry. You can feel the pain of the author in every line. That said, you can also feel her strength as she struggles with her emotions, and indeed for her freedom and ultimately her life. Difficult to read but beautiful and so glad I read it.

This collection of poetry is so beautiful. It takes you into the author's past of abuse. The poems really hit home for me because it actually happened to me.. Reading this book is part of my recovery. All this plus more has happened to me and its quite the road to go down. I loved this book because it tells me I am NOT alone on this trip. I cannot wait to read more by this author.

I received a free copy of the book and is voluntary writing a a review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing a digital version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This poetry collection had some really touching poems that I rather enjoyed. However, the other poems I felt weren’t so memorable. I think it would be great next step for fans of Rupi Kaur to delve further into poetry and definitely has a little something included for everyone. Overall, a lovely little collection.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this collection!

While I have the utmost respect for Jamillah Warner and how she was able to survive and overcome what happened to her, this particular collection did not appeal to me, although some of the poems, such as Dear Diary did stand out.
