review: My big fake wedding by Jessica Hatch
This was the perfect, easy read book for my holiday.
The date is set. The guy is not. When Bea Corbin enters a lottery to win her perfect wedding, she never imagines that her name will be picked right after she’s been cheated on, and unceremoniously dumped, by her ex-boyfriend. But when the event planner calls with the good news, Bea doesn’t say any of that. She panics and says yes.
Going against the advice of her best friend she begins a hunt for a husband. As the ceremony draws nearer, Bea discovers that the only thing more complicated than finding a husband on a deadline is finding the right one.
The reading journey on this was so fun. i do think that i found it hard at times to see the compatability of the love interests, but that also may be because we didnt get alot of depth. I didnt love Bea as a character as she had low self confidence depsite having SO much going for her. She is so centered on finding a fiancé for this wedding that she becomes completely self-centered and not a very good friend. There is some predictability, and I had figured out how it would end, but I thought it was an okay read - but again perfect for on the beach

The premise of winning a dream wedding, and then suddenly finding yourself single is interesting, but this one didn’t quite come together for me. I’ll definitely read more from Hatch in the future though.

This was a DNF for me. I found Bea to be insufferable. I didn’t care for any of the other characters either.

1.5 stars

A Disappointing and Predictable Read
I took a long time to finish this book simply because it was boring and uninteresting. I couldn’t connect with the characters at all, and unfortunately, it wasn’t a good reading experience for me. It’s not necessarily a bad book, but it just didn’t work for me—I found it dull and tedious.
From the start, I could already tell how the story was going to end. The main romance plot felt like a complete waste of time because it was so predictable. I kept hoping the author would do something different, take a risk, or at least not follow the most obvious path—but unfortunately, she did. This made the reading experience frustrating and, at times, outright annoying.
By the time I reached the ending, I was extremely frustrated and irritated. The only reason I actually finished the book was that, despite everything, it was a quick read. Whenever I sat down to read, I got through a good chunk of it, but that didn’t make it enjoyable.
I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. The story felt shallow, uninteresting, and filled with characters I didn’t care about. If I could go back, I wouldn’t have wasted my time reading it.

I picked this up because it was billed as being a "hilarious, feel-good romance is perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood’s The Love Hypothesis, Christina Lauren’s The Unhoneymooners, and Emily Henry’s Beach Read." Those are three of my absolutely favorite contemporary rom-coms, so I'm not sure how this one fell so far off the mark.

Loved parts of this book but then found other parts boring. Took some getting through. Overall seems like an average book.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed this one and couldn't put it down! Don't get me wrong, I knew exactly what was going to happen within the first 10% of the book but I still wanted to indulge in every single chaotic moment. I felt like some of the drama was a little overplayed and unbelievable (which frankly, the whole premise was unbelievable but I loved every minute of it anyways!) and honestly didn't love any of the characters (MC was really annoying and hard to like but also relatable - what does that say about me?!) but still somehow found myself unable to put this down.
Justice for new authors and small publishers writing with passion and creating hilarious and hysterical storylines! This was unique, likable, and enjoyable - will recommend to anyone seeking their next light and fun reads!

My Big Fake Wedding was a fun story, one with humor, great banter, and romance. Bea Corbin was in a relationship when she entered a lottery to win her perfect wedding. It is months later and they are no longer together, but when she gets the call that she has won the wedding, she panics and accepts the prize putting a $2000.00 payment on her card for the $50,000 wedding. Now, she just has to find someone to marry her in a relatively short time. When she announces her wedding date to her BFF, Oliver, he doesn't think it is a good idea, but supports her in her quest. She is hoping to get Andrew's attention, a co-worker that she is attracted to, and when they have a drunken kiss, they start dating and get to know each other. Andrew agrees to marry Bea and things look like they are going to work out, or are they?
There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this story, but also a lot that I had issues with. First was that Bea doesn't have a lot of self-confidence in her private life. She is a smart, attractive woman, but becomes who she thinks Andrew wants in order to get him interested in her. She is so centered on finding a fiancé for this wedding that she becomes completely self-centered and not a very good friend. What I enjoyed were the funny moments when she lets herself go and be herself. Andrew was an interesting character. There were times I liked him and saw him really making an effort in their relationship, but I also felt that he was only going forward half-heartedly. I enjoyed the banter between herself and her friends, and I also liked her personal growth. There is some predictability, and I had figured out how it would end, but I thought it was an okay read.

I really hate giving poor reviews. Writing isn't easy and authors have spent many hours working over their manuscripts but sometimes in order to give an honest opinion we need to give a bad review.
This book was a struggle. Bea was an awful character, completely self centred and the "romance" was in the background while Bea was chasing someone else entirely.
The plot was all over the place and some things didn't make sense.
This book is not one I can recommend.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

This is definitely a fun summer read, but it unfortunately didn't quite work for me. The pacing of the story felt a bit off at times and some parts seemed rushed. I also felt like the romance between the protagonists could have been developed more to make it feel believable. I had to push myself to finish this book.

I almost DNF this book. It sesiouly took my waaay too long to finish it as it was not as entertaing as I would have hoped. I did not connect with the characters which is in part the reason why I did not enjoy it. The love story did not reach me. While this book may not be for me, please give it a try. You may enjoy it.

I liked the setup of this book with a wedding and no groom. I thought this book was fun and interesting but the writing style threw me off a little bit. Took me a while to get into it.

Alright, 'The Date Lottery' had me grinning from ear to ear! Imagine winning a dream wedding lottery right after a breakup – it’s like life’s playing a hilarious prank on Bea. Her choice to play along? Bold move! What struck me was her unorthodox approach to finding a fiancé; that color-coded binder of strategies had me in stitches!
The interplay between Bea, her old friend Oliver, and the dashing Andrew from the office – it's this amusing tangle of emotions and missed cues. That tequila-fueled kiss? Oh, the cringe and charm all at once!
But, when her ex-boyfriend resurfaced, declaring undying love, it was like diving into a whirlwind of feelings. It added this unexpected layer of depth to what I thought was just a hilarious romantic comedy.
Overall, it’s a delightful rollercoaster of comedic mishaps and tender moments. 'The Date Lottery' isn’t just about laughs; it’s about unexpected connections and navigating the chaos of love. If you’re after a quirky, heartfelt romantic read that keeps you grinning, this book’s an absolute gem!

Mixed feelings; it was fun and well paced but there were parts I just felt like I had to skim through as I wasn't entirely invested in it or the characters

I hate writing negative reviews no matter how bad anything is. I always feel bad. So let me begin by saying that while I feel awful saying this, this book was just bad.
I finally slogged through it and finished it this weekend and honestly aside from my resolution to always leave thoughtful and honest reviews I'd have quit long ago. Bea is horrible. And while I thought maybe she'd be redeemed somewhere in the book, she just wasn't. The writing was also odd and not easy to get into or follow along. I tried. Goodness I tried. But this one was not for me.
I received an advanced copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Jessica Hatch.

It’s giving “my greek wedding” vibes and while I did enjoy it, the writing style threw me off a bit. The plot had so much potential but the beginning it took me a while to get into the story. Thank you netgallery for the ARC!

DNF - I’m so sorry but I really didn’t like Bea and no matter how much of the book I read, she didn’t improve. She was so unlikeable and selfish it got progressively more grating. The writing wasn’t particularly alluring either.

Absolutely loved this book!
The writing style was really good and I look forward to reading any other books from this author in the future :)

Absoutely loved this, interesting premise and loved the plot!! A really beautiful romance book, that takes a twist from traditional tropes.
