Honestly, this could have been an interesting premise but the execution was not great.

Bea as a character -initially comes across as so selfish and inconsiderate of her friends, honestly the texbook narcissist and while she did show some growth she’s not a particularly likeable character overall.

All of the relationships in this book felt so forced, and I didn’t really feel the chemistry.

In the end, the whole plot just seems pointless, and I feel like the whole ending could have been achieved very differently.

Also, Oliver just seems like a doormat and I don't really understand his behaviour, and all the friendships and relationships seem sort of toxic.

Bea Corbin is a hard person to like especially when she is engaged in her own pity party and qualified herself as a failure and quivering. In fact, what self respecting female would do the following:
1 Ask a coworker whom she barely knows to marry her?
2 Beg a boyfriend to get back with her after he cheats!
3 Have two friends in a city of which she has lived for a significant period of time?

It really comes off as Pathetic. Yes, there was a happy ending as she chose to move on but getting there could be painful at times.

They had me a Big Fake Wedding. I am so into this trope and like those kind of books. A couple pretending and find one another and realize what they really want. Sign me up any day.

When Bea Corbin enters a lottery to win her perfect wedding, she never imagines that her name will be picked right after she’s been cheated on, and unceremoniously dumped, by her ex-boyfriend. But when the event planner calls with the good news, Bea doesn’t say any of that. She panics and says yes.

Going against the advice of her oldest friend Oliver, Bea announces her marriage to her friends and family, and begins her hunt for a husband. Just because Oliver is an old fashioned romantic doesn’t mean that Bea’s color-coded binder filled with ways to find a fiancé won’t work.

As luck would have it, Bea soon has the most awkward, tequila-fuelled first kiss of all time with her gorgeous office crush, Andrew. But as Bea and Andrew’s relationship gets more serious at the exact moment her ex-boyfriend reappears declaring his undying love, things become more complicated than she could have imagined. Bea feels more lost than ever, especially because Oliver is no longer taking her calls, or answering her texts…

As the ceremony draws nearer, Bea discovers that the only thing more complicated than finding a husband on a deadline is finding the right one.
Totally recommend really enjoyed this book

This was a cute and fun read! I liked that the storyline was original. The main character was hard to like at times, but overall I enjoyed this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this arc!

The premise is so funny to me and it is the reason why I requested this book. However, I think my expectations with how the execution will happen was a bit high because this book disappointed me. I find the catalyst or how the premise even happened was a bit too generic and uninteresting and I wished the author took it in a creative and kind of different way than what we usually expect from this premise. I feel like there's a lot of potential to be even more outstanding and out there with this concept, but the author chose to be on the safer side. The writing style is okay for me, but it didn't really made me connect with our main characters, especially Bea, really well. Overall, I feel lukewarm with this book.

Very interested when I read the description and couldn’t wait to read it. Unfortunately, this book was not for me.
Was confusing in the beginning with her job and figuring out how she won the lottery. I started to understand what was going on but it took me a couple of chapters to figure it out.
Not enough interaction with one guy (didn’t see a connection). The other guy was nice and trying. The author made it seem like he was really interested and invested in the relationship. This made me start rooting for the wrong guy at times.
Disappointed that it was a HFN and not a HEA ending. Felt sorry for the guy she did end up with since it seemed like she was still unsure.
MC did have a lot of growth in book and learned some lessons with her relationships.
Received this book for my honest opinion.

I received a copy of My Big Fake Wedding in exchange for an honest review.

Bea has won a wedding package at a venue she fell in love with in October. One major problem is she is not engaged and just got out of a 7 year relationship. Now she’s on a time crunch to find a husband by June the following year.

This was not my favorite read of the year. While this book tried to be good humored and did have some funny parts I mostly found it to be sad. Bea makes all these choices that scream desperate and while her friends and family tell her it’s a horrible idea they still try to make this wedding happen.

It does end well but 90% of the book had me shaking my head or rolling my eyes in a not good way.

Was this my favorite read of all time? No. Did I read the whole thing in one sitting? Heck yeah, I did. The premise of this book is Bea, the making character, winning a contest to have the wedding of her dreams. The boyfriend she'd thought she'd share it with cheats on him before she is chosen as the winner--so obviously she needs to find another fiance and quick.

I struggled to like Bea, as I found her kind of annoying at times (and at others entirely too much), however, I was rooting for her the entire time. Her relationship with Andrew took me off guard at times, and when her ex comes back into the picture I knew there was no way I was putting the book down until I finished it.

Overall, worth reading if you're a fan of mission-oriented love & false pretenses becoming real.

3.5

Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher in exchange for my very honest review.

I will be upfront and note that I DNF at 20%. I really liked the idea behind the book and was drawn in by the description that Bea Corbin wins a lottery her perfect wedding and wants the wedding so bad that she can't say no, but the problem is that she is single and doesn't actually have anyone to marry. I also thought it was very clever of the author to add a checklist at the end of each chapter to highlight basically all the thoughts that the main character is worrying about.

I did not like the execution of the book. The main character is so annoying and unreasonable. When she won the wedding, the first thing that came to her mind was call her ex-boyfriend that cheated on her and ask him to marry her just because she won the wedding. What insane person does that? You broke up for a reason. I'm up to only the 20% mark, but seems like we are starting to build up an enemies to lovers with Andrew (her co-worker). I just can't get pass the main character or Lucy her friend.

I've been sitting here for a solid 10 minutes trying to figure out how to put into words what I experienced while reading this book. I've read a lot of books in my day, good and bad. I've read books about dragons that marry humans, priest who have scandalous affairs with women they met during confession, and even one about a girl who falls for her step uncle and step cousins. But this book was by far the most ridiculous and cringy book I have ever read. (I also hate the word cringy but I couldn't think of any other word that summed up how I felt).

Now I hate to give bad reviews because I know the author put a lot of time and heart into this book, but I received the free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review so here goes nothing.

Bea, is driving to work one day when she finds out that she won a dream wedding contest she had applied for a year ago. The problem is the boyfriend she was with at the time she applied cheated on her and they are no longer dating. Bea decides to accept the dream wedding anyway and has 8 months to find a new fiancé.

Now if you're like me the premises of this book doesn't sound to bad right? Well unfortunately it was all downhill from there. Bea is one of the most unlikeable characters I have ever read. She is self centered and whiney and makes one horrible decision after another. And honestly I didn't really like any of the characters in the book.

Now I could have overlooked the bad dialogue and characters, but the scenes didn't really make sense either. I consider myself a remotely intelligent person..I have 2 bachelor degrees and am working on my doctorate, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the point of the company, GUM, they worked for was. They kept talking about this event that really seemed to have no purpose and there were so many scenes that were contradictory to previous scenes. It was too much really.

I haven't even gotten into Andrew yet, who is the man from Bea's office she decides she wants as her fiancé. He literally spends like 20 chapters being the perfect man to suddenly decide in one paragraph he was all too much for him and leaves....like why did I just read all that?

I also automatically deduct stars anytime a whole grown ass adult "sticks their tongue out" at someone or "blows a raspberry". And both of these events happened in this novel. I should have DNF'd it but I felt like I kept waiting for it to get better and sadly it never did. Also the use of the word "Shyeah", I thought at first it was a type but then it appeared again..as in "Shyeah, I will." Why?

You are in a happy relationship for quite a few years. In your opinion this can only go one way: towards wedding bells.

Of course you want it to take place at your dream venue. Guess what! They are offering a chance to get married there at very low cost. Only one thing for you to do: enter your name and cross everything you have. You will them to pick you and make your day. And they did…

There are a lot of dance moves you can do alone. It takes two to tango though and there lies a small problem. Venue: check. Bride: check. Groom: ???

Bea has 8 months to find her husband-to-be. Is this possible? Let’s see if she can.

Would you follow in Bea’s steps or would you leave it be? Is it possible to have a crush on someone and being convinced they are the right one? Does it take more time for you to get to know the other person before you take the plunge?

It seems like, if you want it enough, you can achieve anything? Or is it a Fata Morgana you cling on to?

True love… Sometimes you cannot find it where you are looking and you don’t look where you can find it.

Friends… They should stand by you, no matter what. But, on the other hand, you should do the same. If you are not in a good mood, you are allowed to vent. They will listen, but you have to find it in your heart to put your own sorrows aside and give them your undivided attention too. It’s not always easy, but that’s the way it works. If not, you might throw away something very precious. You will regret it and if you leave it too long, you might never get it back.

Talk all you want, but be prepared to listen as well.

A fun story. 4 stars

A beautifully written and moving story. Clever, thought-provoking, evocative. A touching and beautiful novel. I don’t think I’ll be able to articulate quite how good this book actually is. Be prepared to laugh, swoon, and fall head over heels in love with the unforgettable characters in this witty and wonderful novel. I was enthralled from start to finish, and I’m still floating.

This book has a fun concept. Bea won a lottery for a perfect wedding but her bf cheated on her AND dumped her. She still said yes when they called her with the news of the win. She started to hunt for a husband... Her best friend Oliver was against the idea.....

Oliver is great. Love his character. It takes me longer to like Bea but I did come around to like her. It's a fun book overall and I had fun reading it.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I absolutely ADORED this book. I devoured it in less than a day and simply did not want to put it down! I'm such a sucker for romance & this one is one of the best I've read this year. I love any book that has me laughing along the way.

It was such an enjoyable read. all of these characters I was absolutely rooting for (well, almost all of them — but I won’t give anything away!!) and they just felt so real. i also loved the anxiety rep in the MC, and how she was a little quirky and “too much” — felt like I saw myself in her a little bit.

Bea finds herself the winner of a prestigious contest for a $50,000 dream wedding- but what’s the catch? It’s that she no longer has a groom! Bea decides to keep her dream wedding date and hope to find a new groom in only eight months. Her best friend Oliver acts as her stand in for a while, until Bea sets her sights on Andrew, her handsome coworker. Will Bea get her happily ever after?

I really wanted to like this book, because it had many elements I enjoy (enemies and friends to lovers, fake dating) and an interesting premise. However, the main problem I had with the book was that the characters were not likable. Bea wasn’t all that likable and tried to make herself less in order to appeal to Andrew, who also had many problematic traits. Bea’s best friend Lucy as well as her parents were not very nice or supportive of Bea. Ultimately it felt like a long, drawn out story with a rushed ending. I enjoyed Oliver but he was absent from a huge chunk of the book! As I mentioned, it’s an interesting premise and the author seems talented, but it’s hard to get past the characters that I didn’t like.
