A very good book! I would not have guessed this the author's first book, so well done there. Shes a good story teller and I think hits on a soft spot for a lot of people.

Lucas and Abigail have three children and a charmed life from the outside but inside things are fracturing and something must change. This family is losing each other but Lucas is so attached to his phone and works so much he is missing all of the signs.

In vacation something does happen but it is far from ideal and Lucas finally gets to see everything he's put his family through. But you have to read it because it is real and raw and gritty.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When Abigail finally gets her overwork husband Luke to go on a trip at least for the weekend with her and the kids she is excited but leery. It seems only a catastrophe could tear him away from work and his cell phone. So when they arrive at the remote cabin he isn’t sensed that they have no Wi-Fi, but after she tells him they are going to walk down to the village and she sure he can get some there he acquiesces. Down in the village they made a nice lady named Miss Barbara and she tells them about all the nice places for tourist to go but win little Brody hears about a magic shop he begs his mom if they can go and she says yes. It is in here that Luke X is the owner John if he has Wi-Fi he says he does and gives Luke the password and while Abigail and the children are occupied looking at things around the store Luke is intensely looking at his cell phone, that is until John the creepy owner starts talking to him and when Luke looks up to answer his question he sees a hat with moving tentacles that he becomes obsessed with. moments later when the kids pick what they want from the magic shop they go to check out and can’t find Luke anywhere. Abigail thinks he must’ve really gotten into his emails and it’s just not paying attention to where it they are so they go off to eat and after eating and visiting the candy shop she still cannot find Luke anywhere. Let me start by saying I did not see this book going where are dead, but the fact is dead made it that much better. When the book started I thought this was going to be the same old cookie-cutter trope of a man gone missing a wife left to pick up the pieces ET see that is not what this book was about. This book was about loss, redemption and finding out what’s most important in the audience those magic thrown in. I really enjoyed this book and suspending belief that was easy in the context it came to the story. I love the characters I loved her best friend Allison and her husband this was just a great book all around and the ending was awesome! I thought this was a thriller and it was thrilling but not the kind of thriller I thought it was but way better. Because it had a happy ending. I received this book for netGally and the author and I’m leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.

A new author in the mystery/thriller genre. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the debut and look forward to more from Hiliary Amanda.

Hiliary Amanda's first novel is a magical story about a family that is missing the interaction, support and time of the husband and father Lucas. Whilst on a family vacation in the Tennessee mountains Lucas, a criminal defence lawyer, goes missing. Abigail, his wife, and their three children begin a search to locate Lucas with the help of friends. The storyline is divided by the families visit to a magic store and a serious medical episode. There are many twists and turns in the novel that lead to a dramatic and emotional conclusion. Well worth five (5) stars.
