Christmas Scarf Murder is a compilation of three holiday themed cozy mysteries by three different authors.
I have read the second, Scarfed Down, by Maddie Day and Death By Christmas Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart but plan on reading the last one.

I started with the Robbie Jordan story as I have read all of them except #6.5. This is a novella that follows No Grater Crime and comes before Batter Off Dead, making it 9.5 in the series order.
The Pans and Pancake crew are developing specials of the day based on The Twelve Days of Christmas carol. A trio of knitters from a neighboring town hold their knitting sessions twice a week at the café during the period between the breakfast and lunch rush periods.
One of the knitters dies in her home and the cause seems to be dyed wool that Robbie’s aunt produces. It appears the wool was poisoned. So, all of the wool at the store is confiscated and the investigation begins. Wanda, a detective and cousin of Buck’s, is in charge of the investigation.

I liked the turns this story took while keeping an upbeat theme throughout. The comradery of the main characters is remarkable. They care about each other and the community.
I learned Abe is getting ready to change careers. I was happy with the resolution of the crime and look forward to the 2023 installment in the series.

Death by Scarf was an interesting story. This had plenty of twists which kept me on my toes.
I enjoyed the characters & their interaction in resolving the death of the store owner.

I look forward to reading the last story and will update my review when I finish it.

I was given an advanced copy of the story by Netgalley and am not required to leave a positive review.

The blurb for each short story is enough to get the reader going without giving anything away. This is the first trilogy of holiday stories and I loved it! It was not easy to solve the mysteries, the characters are as engaging as you would expect, and the pace is quick. I am left with a warm glow and a need to look at the back lists!
Thank you to #NetGalley, #Kennsington for sending me the e-book ARC I requested. I like to review books that I love. #ChristmasScarfMurder #NetGalley

Taking a bit of a different combined book idea, each author was given the theme of Christmas scarf, and came up with their own mini story about it. If you've read this blog long enough, you probably figure Carlene's is going to be my fav and you're right! I love how it picks up after the events in her last book, and show us the blended family of the O'Sullivans celebrating their first Christmas together in their new home. The other two authors were new to me, and their stories were also interesting to read, and offer a great way to preview cozies from all 3 authors, withotu committing to a whole book. All are quick reads, and it's a fun gift idea for the bookaholic, or fan of the authors!

This book features a delightful trio of Christmas-themed short stories, all centering on Christmas scarfs.

For me, Maddie Day is a top cozy mystery author and so I absolutely adored her entry in this collection featuring her Pans 'n Pancakes series characters. Clever and unique murder method.

I've never read a book by either Carlene O'Connor (featuring her Irish Village series characters) or Peggy Ehrhart (featuring her Knit & Nibble series characters) but enjoyed each of their Christmas short stories.

While I'm completely up to date with Maddie Day's series, after finishing this book, I immediately picked up the first in the Irish Village series and the Knit & Nibble series and hope to get into both of these soon.

A trio of stories that feature Christmas scarfs and murder. In Carlene O’Connor’s “Christmas Scarf Murder”, characters from her Irish Village series. Siobhan O’Sullivan, along with her new husband, respond to a call regarding thefts at a retirement home. When a missing scarf is found wrapped around the neck of a murder victim (and suspected thief), Siobhan and her family search for the murderer while trying to make sure that Kilbane’s traditional Christmas tractor parade goes on. I had not read any books in the Irish Village series, but this story gave enough background to make it easy to follow along.

“Scarfed Down” by Maddie Day features Robbie Jordan and various characters from the Pans ‘N Pancakes restaurant from the Country Store Mystery series. When a member of a knitting group dies while knitting a scarf, the police focus on Robbie’s Aunt Adele, who provided the yarn. Robbie juggles investigating what happened along with running her Pans ‘N Pancakes restaurant, which is featuring 12 Days of Christmas menu specials. I had not read any books in the Country Store series, however, it was easy to get cozy with the characters and their backgrounds.

The final story is from Peggy Ehrhart, “Death By Christmas Scarf”. The characters from her Knit & Nibble Mystery series are drawn into investigating the death of Carys Walnutt, who was strangled by a handmade scarf sold at an auction. Pamela and Bettina begin investigating, over the objections of Pam’s daughter and the police. I have read other books in this series, so I was familiar with the characters.
Each of these stories were fun to read and put me in the mood for Christmas and related crafts. It was fun to get a peek into some new mystery series, which I will be adding to the “To Be Read”pile.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Carlene O'Connor's selection was shocking. Maddie Day's selection had an interesting way to kill someone. ( I guess the authors start to run out of ways to kill their victims after writing so many books.) Peggy Ehrhart's selection had too little action to the point of becoming boring at times.

CHRISTMAS SCARF MURDER by CARLENE O’CONNOR - Siobhan and Macdara are going to celebrate their first Christmas together as a married couple. But the planning is interrupted by a group of thefts at a local elder home. And so the investigation begins. This is a nice mix of police work and Christmas preparation. Loved it!

SCARFED DOWN by MADDIE DAY – Robbie feels life is running smoothly at Pans ‘N Pancakes until one of her customers is poisoned and it seems Robbie’s aunt’s wool is involved. She is also coming up on her first Christmas as a married woman and a step-mom. Super mystery and a great holiday celebration.

DEATH BY CHRISTMAS SCARF by PEGGY EHRHART-The Knit and Nibble group gets involved in a murder when one of their donated scarves is used in the murder. Who murdered this woman and why? Thoroughly enjoyed.

I wanted to read this because I am a fan of Maddie Day's Country Store mystery series. I have not read any books by Carlene O'Connor and I confess after a few pages I skipped this story as the Irish names and dialect were hard for me to follow.

I did enjoy the installment of the Country Store mystery series in this book, although I thought the conclusion was rather abrupt. I appreciated Ms. Day's author's note about not wanting to go the obvious route and have someone strangled with a scarf as the premise. I'll keep the murder weapon to myself here but suffice it to say it's a good one.

I have read a few of Peggy Ehrhart's Knit and Nibble mysteries and they are enjoyable but not something I actively seek out. I know very little about knitting and have no desire to try so this niche mystery goes mostly over my head. I did notice in this story she has dialed back the overuse of detail that I noted in previous books so I applaud her for that.

I received an ARC of this three book set from NetGalley and had not read anything by any of the three authors. I really enjoyed the storyline and the cast of characters. All three books held my interest from start to finish.

They all contain murders and I found it hard to decide who might have been the murderer. But it was fun trying to solve them.

I think you will enjoy the set as well

This book is three stories by three different authors. All the stories are murder mysteries at Christmas time and a scarf features in each story. Good read.

A holiday visit with familiar characters. Or for some it will be a fun introduction to new-to-them authors. Short and clever cozy murder mysteries. Enjoyable and entertaining. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

A nice, quick holiday read! I’m a knitter so this book immediately interested me. I’m new to all three authors so this was a nice way to be introduced. Carlene O’Connor’s short story was my favorite; taking place in Ireland at Christmas, it held instant appeal. Maddie Day’s story was interesting because of the means of murder; and there was actual knitting taking place in Peggy Ehrhart’s story. Overall a nice collection of holiday mysteries.

The book Christmas Scarf Murder includes three novellas by three different authors, Carlene O'Connor, Maddie Day, and Peggy Ehrhart. Each story involves amateur sleuths solving a murder with a Christmas scarf as the murder weapon. The novellas feature main characters from each of the author's full-length novels. Anyone who already follows these series will enjoy catching up with favorite characters, but the stories are a great introduction for new readers. Looking at the collection as a whole, I would rate it 4.5 stars.

Carlene O'Connor's story, Christmas Scarf Murder, is the first in the book. It features Garda Siobhan O'Sullivan and her husband DS Macdora Flannery, investigating a series of thefts at an elder care home and then a murder. There are a lot of suspects and a fairly lengthy investigation, especially for a short story. The scenes at the care home were very enjoyable, and the story's sweet ending is perfect for a holiday story.

The second story, Scarfed Down by Maddie Day, has restaurant owner Robbie Jordan investigating the death of a knitter using yarn supplied by her aunt. The way the murder is commited is clever and sets up an intriguing mystery. I like Robbie and really enjoyed the great mother/son relationship she has with her stepson Sean. I didn't care for some of the side characters, and the way the accents of some of the characters were written was distracting. Overall, it is an entertaining story.

In my opinion, they saved the best for last. Peggy Ehrhart's story, Death by Christmas Scarf, is my favorite story of the three. Magazine editor Pamela Paterson and newspaper reporter Bettina Fraser team up to look into the death of a man strangled with a scarf made by a member of their knitting group. I love Pamela and Bettina's friendship and determination to solve the case. I also enjoyed all the vivid descriptions of the holiday celebrations, and I felt like I was right there in Bettina's home enjoying some holiday cheer.

I received an advance copy of this ebook from NetGalley and Kensington Books at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O’Connor, Maddie Day, and Peggy Ehrhart contains three cute holiday themed cozy mysteries. All three stories are well-written and fit nicely into their respective series. I like how the Christmas scarf theme fit into each story. I thought Maddie Day had a clever method of murder. I wish there had been more investigating by Robbie Jordan in Scarfed Down. It was nice to catch up with Robbie, Abe, Sean, Adele, and the others. It was cute how Robbie and her staff were making dishes to go with The Twelve Days of Christmas. I like how Robbie was reading a new book by Becky Clark from A Crossword Puzzle Mysteries. The Christmas scene at the end was sweet. There is plenty of Christmas cheer in all three novellas. I enjoyed the first two stories more than Death by Christmas Day Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart. There are so many characters introduced in the beginning of the tale. I felt that the main character did not stand out especially with next to her dynamic best friend. The mystery was okay, but I find the way it was solved a little odd. Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O’Connor had an interesting mystery along with Christmas fun. It is a lively story which I liked. I like how the whodunit came together in the end. It can be read as a standalone along with Scarfed Down. I believe Death by Christmas Day Scarf is better for those who are familiar with A Knit and Nibble Mysteries. Christmas Scarf Murder has three charming Christmas cozies with sweater weather, festooned trees, wonderful waffles, copious knitting, a couple of curious crimes, and cheerful Christmas celebrations.

Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O'Connor
I've read one other Christmas themed novella by this author and her series is on my to-read list. Christmas Scarf Murder had a great mystery as well as plenty of Christmas cheer. This one was easy to read even without knowing the characters and I enjoyed following Siobhán and her husband who both for for the police as they solve the mystery. There is a Christmas tractor parade involved, stolen items, a local nursery home and four young character who volunteer and help there.

The mystery was a good one that kept me guessing. And it was great to see how to progressed and they found new clues. I was impressed with the way all the clues tied neatly together toward the end to reveal the culprit, but at the same time during the mystery I wasn't sure who was the killer. I liked how the focus was on the mystery, but we got plenty of Christmas cheer as well with mentions of the parade and a Christmas market. The ending wrapped everything up nicely and it made for a satisfying Christmas cozy mystery read.

Scarfed Down by Maddie Day
I really like this series by Maddie Day and I was excited to get another story, this time set around Christmas time. There is a twisted mystery and I liked that the scarf killed the victim in a different way than in the first story. I liked how Robbie got involved and helped solve the mystery. My favorite part of this story as usual was reading about Robbie's daily life and the way she runs her restaurant. I liked reading about the 12 days of Christmas specials they were doing and how the came up with ideas for food to fit each day. There is enough Christmas charm as well as a satisfying conclusion to the mystery.

Death by Christmas Day Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart
This one missed the mark for me a bit. I struggled a bit with the stories introduction with lots of characters in a scene and figured this one is part of a series. Once I was sure who the main character was it went a bit better, but the writing style of this one didn't really work for me. I also had some trouble getting a good feel for the main character and felt she kinda faded into the background next to her expressive best friend who often lead the case and hunt for suspects. The mystery was interesting though, although I thought the way the main character solved it was a weird. I liked the Christmas charm and we get to see plenty of the festivities and how the character celebrate.

To summarize: This was a great Christmas themed cozy mystery collection with three cozy mystery stories. I liked how each of the stories can easily be read as a standalone, while they're clearly part of a series. Each story has plenty of Christmas charm as well as a murder mystery that involves a Christmas scarf and I liked how these two themes were present in all the stories. I personally enjoyed the first two stories the most, I am already a fan of Maddie Day's series and it was fun to revisit that series with a Christmas novella. I definitely plan to check out Charlene O'Connor' series as I enjoyed that mystery. The third story didn't work as well for me, but I liked the Christmas charm of it. I would definitely recommend this to fans of the genre!

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. A delightful compendium of three short stories with each story featuring a Christmas scarf. Each author takes a unique perspective to set a cozy mystery featuring their main protagonists and features holiday scarves as either direct murder weapons or as a featured clue. Fun way to read authors you already like or be introduced to some that you’ll probably enjoy!

I enjoy these collaborative books with a theme. Each of the authors provided interesting stories of how a Christmas scarf was used in a murder. Two of them provided recipes with their stories. Each author brought her favorite characters to the stories and each story was its own take on the use of a scarf as a murder weapon.

Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O'Connor, Maddie Day, and Peggy Ehrhart is a collection of three novellas with an expected publication date of September 27, 2022.  I received an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Kensington Books for free in exchange for my honest review.  I was delighted to have been chosen to read and review this collection ahead of publication.

All three stories in this collection had a common thread . . . they all had characters that knitted and a scarf played an important part in each story.  Each story was a continuation of a cozy mystery series.

Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O'Connor is about a theft at a local nursing home in Ireland.  When a dead body shows ups at the local tractor parade with the missing scarf around the deceased's neck, Siobhan O’Sullivan must connect all the dots.  This story started off slowly for me, and I found some of the slang difficult to figure out.  With that being said, the premise was skillfully done and reminded me of something Agatha Christie would have written.  Three out of five stars.

Scarfed Down by Maddie Day opens with Robbie Jordan and her employees trying to figure out Christmas specials for her restaurant in Indiana.  When one of her patrons dies while knitting a green scarf, Robbie must proof that her Aunt Adele has nothing to do with the death.  This story was easy to follow and the characters are likable.  I enjoyed the premise of the plot and felt it was well thought out.  However, some of the dialogue was a little over the top to me, and it made the characters seem like they should have been from the South instead of the Midwest.  Three out of five stars.

Death by Christmas Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart opens with a knitting club talking about the death of Carys Walnutt, who was strangled after the local auction for the public library.  Pamela Paterson and her friend try to figure out who murdered the sour lady and exonerate the person who bid on the scarf Carys was found wearing.  I enjoyed that Pamela worked for a magazine and that she had such a close knit circle of friends.  The storyline was enjoyable, but I figured out who the murderer was from the very beginning . . . I just wasn't sure what the motive was behind the killing.  Additionally, I didn't care for the dialogue.  It felt like the author threw in big words when common language would have sufficed.  Three out of five stars.

All in all, I enjoyed all three novellas, and they were quick reads, which was just what I was looking for at the time.  These stories were perfect to put me in the mood for Christmas, despite there being murders in each story.  Thankfully, none of the stories were gory.  Each story was a solid three out of five stars.

Carlene O'Connor, Maddie Day and Peggy Ehrhardt have teamed up to bring readers a Christmas collection of three novella length stories entitled Christmas Scarf Murder. Each of these stories fits in with the authors current ccozy series but each can also be read on their own. The focal point of each story centers around the use of a Christmas scarf as a murder weapon. Even though the same weapon is used, all of these authors have created unique and interesting settings, motives, methods and culprits while maintaining continuity within their individual series and characters. The pacing and length of all of these stories is just right for a light mystery read when a person is looking to relax for a little while during a busy day. I look forward to each of the authors' next books to see if they allow some of the new characters introduced here to return for more involvement in future installments.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Kensington Books and am leaving this review voluntarily.
