I typically only read one of these authors, but I did read all three stories in this book. I liked them and will be picking up books by Carlene and Maddie to read. I loved reading these short stories and it was a good way to pass the time before Peggy's next full book.

Three fun Christmas cozy novellas tied together by...a scarf! Well, not one scarf but there's a scarf in each tale. These authors are masters at the cozy so if you're a fan of one, you'll like the others. It's a nice compilation to have around for when you want a short snappy read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Fun!

Carlene O’Connor’s contribution Christmas Scarf Murder has the young couple, DI MacDara and Garda O’Sullivan investigating a robbery at the Elder Care home, that turns into a murder investigation. Starting out with no suspects, and quickly adding them. The robbery and murder are connected …. but how? As the pair run down any clue they find, they start to get a picture, but the first one is wrong. They eventually tag onto the right answer and set about proving it. Fun and fast moving
Maddie Day’s Scarfed Down has her business closed when a customer dies, not at the diner, but in possession of yarn sold in the store. She snoops a bit and ends up wit a bulls eye on her back when the murderer suspects she knows more than she does. The police follow up every clue she uncovers, but an arrest is only made when she’s in danger. I love this series.
Peg Ehrhart’s Death by Christmas Scarf
When a young woman is strangled in an alley with a recently auctioned scarf from the knitter’s club, Pamela’s curiosity won’t leave it alone. She along with Bettina snoop until she actually comes across the murderer.
Good start to holiday reads
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse gratis.

A collection of Christmas stories from three authors who have become synonymous with this genre. All were enjoyable and packed with Christmas details.

Thank you NetGalley, Carlene O'Connor; Maddie Day; Peggy Ehrhart and Kensington Books for the ARC Christmas Scarf Murder. This is my personal review.
Three cozy mystery novellas each written by a different author was a good way for me to spend a rainy day.
Having the mystery wrapped around knitting and holiday scarves was a good way to set the scene for the murders and the mystery in each of whom was guilty. The twist in each story was a good way to keep me guessing!
The recipe were a great treat to add to the novellas.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy of this book.

What could be better; a Christmas setting, hand-knitted scarves, and murder? These three stories all have these elements and the exploits of amateur sleuths who can’t help but get involved in solving a murder mystery. Even though each story is quite different in setting and style, they are all cozy reads, even including recipes (they all include food at some point) and even some knitting projects.

These were just fun Christmas mystery stories for a reader who prefers less gore and dark drama.

One Liner: More Enjoyable for those who read the series

The book is a collection of three cozy mystery novelettes by three authors. The stories have a common theme-
• Christmas time
• Scarf as a part of the crime
• Small town setting
• A recipe at the end of each one

Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O'Connor
There has been a theft at the local nursing home. Siobhan O’Sullivan and Macdere, her husband, are called to handle the case. Before they can make much progress, one of the stolen items, a hideous long scarf, ends up as a possible murder weapon in the death of a young lad. Are the crimes connected? Who stole the items? Who killed the man?
It’s rare for me to come across a slow-paced cozy. Fortunately, the story was interesting enough. Siobhan Sullivan is the leading lady of the Irish Village Mystery Series. It isn’t mandatory to read the series (for the case), but it would help keep track of the names and characters we encounter.
The case, as such, requires multiple characters, and adding a whole bunch of family members to it made it a bit too confusing. I gave up trying to track them and went with the flow. Something tells me I’d have enjoyed this more if I read at least one book from the series.
This was an okay read – 3 stars.

Scarfed Down by Maddie Day
Christmas has arrived in Pans ‘N Pancakes, a delightful county store (plus eatery) set in a fictional town. Things go awry when one of the clients dies at home under mysterious circumstances, and the reason has something to do with the green scarf she’s been knitting. Robbie Jordan is not new to solving cases and looks like she has to step up again.
Like the previous novelette, this one also has characters and setting from an existing series, Country Store Mystery. Fortunately, it was a little easier to follow the relationships and stuff. The first-person narration comes in short chapters and keeps the pace steady.
The case is rather a little too easy. I know cozy mysteries are light stuff, but this is too light for my taste. The talk of baking and the quirky grammar kept me interested. Also, the scarf isn’t the central point in this one, and there was an inconsistency (or so it seemed). The author’s note explains why, though I’d have liked the scarf to have a bigger role.
Another okay read – 3 stars.

Death by Christmas Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart
Carys Walnutt has been strangled by her Christmas scarf. The handmade scarf was an auction at Arborville’s tree-lighting ceremony. It seems like a straightforward case, and soon an arrest is made. But is the case really solved? It’s up to Pamela Paterson to dig deeper and find the truth.
Right! So this story also has characters and setting from an established series. A Knit & Nibble Mystery has Pamela Paterson solving crimes and knitting with her club members. The novelette starts with a bang as the crime has already been committed.
The case is interesting, and so are the delicious cakes and cookies mentioned. There were too many characters to track, which reduced my enjoyment levels. However, the end was quite satisfactory. The author provided detailed instructions to knit a teddy bear along with a recipe.
One more okay read – 3 stars

To Summarize, Christmas Scarf Murder is a quick read if you want three different types of mysteries in the same book. No doubt, it will be much more enjoyable if you are familiar with the characters.
I'm tempted enough by the settings to check out the series soon.
Thank you, NetGalley, Kensington Books, and Kensington Cozies, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

This is a book with 3 stories by different authors. I requested it because I like Carlene O'Connor, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the first story was about the characters from her Irish Village Mystery series. While I've loved and read that series since I met the author on her first book tour, this was a particularly good one. It's Siobhan and Macdara's first Christmas together, and she is in the midst of Christmas preparations, when they are called to investigate a series of robberies at an elder care home in the village. The characters are quite unique, and the mystery not easily solved, especially when things become more serious. This is a 5 star story, and worth the price of the book.

The second story, Scarfed Down by Maddie Day, introduced me to Robbie Jordan and her Pans 'N Pancakes country store and restaurant. One of the knitting group that meets at the restaurant dies, and Robbie sets out to find out if the yarn her aunt makes could really be the cause of death. I didn't find the characters engaging, and the progression of the plot wasn't very realistic. However, for fans of this type of cozy, there were recipes at the end.

I thought the third story, Death by Christmas Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart, was engaging, and I liked the characters. Someone is found strangled by one of the scarves knitted by the knitting group for the library fundraising auction. Is the winner of the bidding really the killer? I really liked the way the author begins with action and dialogue and draws us directly into the story. I would read another book by this author. This is a three star story, so overall, I would recommend the book.

A holiday trio of novellas from mystery series authors, all centered around the idea of murders connected with Christmas themed scarves. A pleasant and undemanding read. You don't have to have read any of the series to enjoy this although you'll have to meet a lot of characters quickly.

The Irish setting of the Carlene O'Connor books has made her books a favorite of mine. The lives of Irish policewoman Siobhan O'Sullivan and her 5 orphaned siblings in their small town makes for a good time. This time out, a local nursing home has had a couple of thefts from residents which has everyone upset. This is soon eclipsed by the mysterious death of a visiting young man -- yes, death by scarf.

The next tale is by Maddie Day and features characters from her knitting series. Restaurant owner Robbie Jordan has to investigate when her Aunt Adele becomes a suspect -- a local woman is poisoned by Adele's yarn. This is a folksy story set in the Midwest with a lot of twang in the characters.

And lastly author Peggy Ehrhart and her characters Pamela and Bettina are members of a local knitting group. When one of them is found murdered by a scarf auctioned off for charity, the likeable Pamela and ebullient Bettina have to help solve the crime.

Light, escapist reading in a seasonal mood. Thanks to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Christmas Scarf Murder consists of three stories from cozy mystery series. The first mystery is part of Charlene O’Connor’s Irish Village Mystery series. It is the first I have read in this series, but I still found it to be a good Christmas mystery with likable characters and I wasn’t lost even though this was my first time meeting these characters.

The second mystery in the series is from Maddie Day’s Country Store Mystery series and it’s the second book I’ve read in this series. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book I read in this series, but I liked this short mystery better. It’s still not my favorite series out there, but is made a nice addition to this set of Christmas scarf mysteries.

The third book is from Peggy Ehrhart’s Nibble and Knit mystery series and the reason why I wanted to read this collection of mysteries in the first place. I absolutely love this series and am always so excited when I see a new mystery is coming out! I loved this mystery as much as every other one it this series! The characters are so fun and relatable and I just love the Knit and Nibble group. Another great mystery in the series!

Overall, I enjoyed this collection of mysteries and I would recommend it to any cozy mystery fan in need of their Christmas fix, whether you’ve read the other mysteries in theses series’ or not!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Fun, fast, and easy book to kick off the Christmas reading holidays! This anthology is headlined by Carlene O’Connor, whose Irish Village Mystery series feature Detective Sargeant Siobhan O’Sullivan and hubby Garda O’Sullivan in this offering, Christmas Scarf Murder. This series is always a treat with the Irish countryside-themed mysteries.

The second, Scarfed Down by Maddie Day is part of her Country Store Mystery series set in South Lick, Indiana. I greatly enjoy her writing style as well as the snicker-worthy sense of humor. She’s always busy tending her restaurant/country store and hosting a knitting group. It’s the latter that’s key to this novella.

I’m not familiar with Peggy Ehrhart who included her Death by Christmas Scarf in the Christmas scarf-themed compilation. The third story features Pam Paterson who engages with her Knit and Nibble group in an interesting use of knit one, purl one during WWII (Spy-Craft: The Knitting Spies of World War II…”).

These Christmas scarf-themed cozy mystery novellas are a lovely way to ease into the season. 4.5 stars

Peggy Ehrhart’s Death by Christmas Scarf is a short, seasonal cozy mystery. It is part of a collection of three short stories by three authors, all based around Christmas scarfs. I am a huge fan of Peggy Ehrhart’s Knit & Nibble mystery series, which this story fits in as approximately #8.5. The main character, Pamela, and her fellow knit club member (and best friend and neighbor), Bettina, carefully follow clues to find out who murdered a cranky lady via a scarf one of the Knit & Nibble members made for a community auction. It is a good mystery woven into the daily lives of a great cast of characters which provides a wonderfully relaxing quality. The friendships & families are realistic, and the author’s writing is fabulous. As for the other two stories in this holiday themed book, I haven’t read them yet as I’m not familiar with those authors/series. As soon as I read them, I’ll update this review.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books - Kensington Cozies for this wonderful ARC. I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion. I will post this review to my blog, Goodreads, Bookbub, & Amazon accounts on the publication date, 9/27/22.

“Christmas Scarf Murder” by Carlene O’Connor; Maddie Day; Peggy Ehrhart
Three Chances to Solve a Mystery !!
These were fun cozy mysteries and I did truly enjoy my time within this anthology.
1st scarf story “Christmas Scarf Murder” by Carlene O’Connor is a fun read. I enjoyed the story but I think I would have enjoyed it more as an audio read because my Irish brogue leaves a lot to be desired.
Max was special, maybe too special. I just may try making the ‘Irish Lace Biscuits’ the author was kind enough to share the recipe.. with permission of course.
2nd scarf story “ Scarfed Down” by Maddie Day, this was quite the yarn. I enjoyed trying to determine the guilty party before the author shared the news. There are two recipes shared by the author. They sound delicious.
3rd scarf story “Death by Christmas Scarf” by Peggy Ehrhart, another lethal scarf story with a surprise ending, Well, I had considered the correct character but I didn’t have a good motive. The author shares two recipes and a knit pattern, too!! Not to worry, the knit pattern isn’t for a Christmas scarf.
Hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did.
Wishing you Happy Sleuthing, Knitting, Nibbles and Reading ! !
NOTE: This review expresses my honest opinion.
I received this ARC book from the publisher via NetGalley.

Christmas Scarf Murder is a collection of three novels from different authors. I only read the Maddie Day installment as I haven't read the other authors' work yet, and I need to read them in order. I'll come back and add to this review when I read them. Maddie Day always delights, and her Country Store Mysteries set in Indiana make me laugh. It's Christmas time, and Robbie and gang are baking up lunches based on the Twelve Days of Christmas (just like in my latest Christmas novel where my protagonist buys gifts for his wife based on the same theme). A trio of knitters show up a few times, and then one dies, poisoned by the dye in the wool -- made by Robbie's aunt. Whodunit? A good story, keeps me close to the main series, and I am excited for the 2023 release again.

“Christmas Scarf Murder” is a collection of three cozy mysteries set at Christmastime.

Christmas Scarf Murder – Carlene O’Connor

Siobhan O’Sullivan and Macdara Flannery are preparing to celebrate their first Christmas together as husband and wife but first they need to solve the disappearance of some small items from a local nursing home. Solving the mystery of those disappearances becomes more urgent when someone is killed and one of the items – a scarf - is the murder weapon. Can they solve the case in time to enjoy their first Christmas together?

I love Carlene O’Connor’s Irish Village cozy mystery series and “Christmas Scarf Murder” is a nice addition to the series. I love the relationship between Siobhan, Macdara, and their extended family and it is even more richer now that they are married. The mystery in the book – both the missing items and the murder is very well done. I had fun trying to solve the mystery along with Siobhan and Macdara – there are plenty of twists and turns and every time I thought I had figured out who the killer was O’Connor threw in another twist and it turned out I was wrong. Well done!

Scarfed Down – Maddie Day

It is Christmastime and Robbie Jordan is busy running Pans ‘N Pancakes and trying to figure out the daily special with a Twelve Days of Christmas theme. But when a customer is murdered and the police tie it to the yarn made by Robbie’s Aunt Adele, Robbie knows she needs to clear her aunt’s name – fast.

“Scarfed Down” is a nice addition to Maddie Day’s Country Store cozy mystery series. I really enjoy this series and wish Pan ‘N Pancakes existed in real life (although I can just imagine the weight I would gain if it did!) I love the fact that Day picked a unique murder weapon (poisoned yarn!) and there were plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing who the killer was. In the end, I enjoyed the visit with Robbie and friends and was sorry when the story ended.

Death by Christmas Scarf – Peggy Ehrhart

Pamela Paterson and members of the Knit and Nibble club are shocked when Carys Walnutt is found strangled by a scarf knit by one of their members. Carys was not well liked and there are plenty of suspect although the police seem to have one particular suspect in mind. Pamela isn’t convinced though and she and her friend Bettina set out to find the real killer before the police arrest the wrong person.

I have never read any of Peggy Ehrhart’s Knit and Nibble cozy mysteries, but I thoroughly enjoyed “Death by a Christmas Scarf”. I loved the description of the Knit and Nibble club – the people in it, the food they ate during their meetings, and their various projects (there is a pattern for one of the projects at the end of the story). The mystery is well done with plenty of suspects and red herrings – I thought for sure I knew who the killer was but I was way off. In the end, I enjoyed the story and will buy more books in the series.

“Christmas Scarf Murder” is a nice collection of Christmas-themed cozy mysteries.

A Commonplace Gift…?
A Christmastime collection of three cosy mystery novellas for the festive season. Each tale is from a different author and each is centred around that most usual of Christmastime gifts - the hand knitted scarf. Of course, should that commonplace gift be used for something as uncommonplace as murder, then it is brought into a whole different perspective! Enjoyable and entertaining and a perfect escape from the festivities, or indeed at any time of year. The collection is also an excellent introduction to these talented authors should the reader be new to them.
