Many different angles here, that end up in basically the same place. The set up of this book is one of my least favorites, back and forth between four different sisters, in time and circumstance, and each with their own drama, to become a formidable wall, in the end, for one of their own. The story is good, it did take me awhile to get the logic and feel. A different, but good read.

Really enjoyed this story! Twisty and unpredictable this book gripped me right from the start, I couldn't put it down and didn't know who to trust. Definitely recommend foe any thriller/mystery fan. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

This was a interesting concept for a thriller novel, it worked well in the story and was leaving me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed how well that Kristen Bird wrote this and loved the journey that was going through this. The characters were what I was hoping for and really interesting. It does what I was looking for and can't wait to read more from Kristen Bird.

"It seems he’s spent half his life trying to catch Pearl Williams, but now she’s eluded him once and for all with her
death. Still, he collects himself. He won’t be taunted with the promise of a guilty Williams, especially not by the likes of me. “Why did you hate Pearl so much?” I ask."

From the book 🔽🔽
The three Williams girls are as close as sisters can be, and they also share one particular trait in common: each of them have a man in their lives that they could do without.
Tara, the pastor’s wife, has been stealing money from the church and would prefer that her husband stays out of it. Then there’s June, who would do anything to have a baby of her own, even if her husband is dead set against it. Clementine, the youngest, is entangled in an affair with her professor, a man whose behavior she's starting to seriously question. Their sister-in-law Stephanie, an outsider, knows all the family dirt and is watching the three of them—and the men in their lives—closely.

I enjoyed the story that revolves around the three sisters Clem, June and Tara. Their families secrets run deep and came full circle at the end.

This was the BEST book I've read in a while. I loved the characters and it was hard to put down. Clem, June, and Tara are sisters I don't want to cross, but I want to stay of Stephanie's good side too! Wonderful family dynamics and small-town drama. Excellent read!

Oh my gosh I loved this book! One of my favorites this year. It was a suspense with heart. The story centers around a family during the time of their grandmother’s death. Each sister felt so realistic and unique, their personalities jumped off the pages. I loved all of them, even when they were doing bad, bad things. Bird’s writing is engaging and drew me in immediately, I can’t wait until March when I can make all my friends read this!

While a fun mystery to read, I found the twists to be predictable and I really had to slug through this book to make it to the end. I can see the potential, and readers will enjoy this one.

When Pearl dies just before her 80th birthday, her granddaughters are left to plan the funeral service. It’s a big job and each of the women must put aside the problems in their own lives to give Pearl the send off she deserves. Tara, Clementine, June and Tara all seem to have man trouble, but there’s no need to fret, If Peral taught her granddaughters anything, it was how to get rid of a nasty, little man

The grandmother has died...the grandchildren, with their families, will carry on...escapades...family and friends...love and romance...children. What will happen next? Who will get into trouble? Who will do the right thing? What would the grandmother thing, after sacrificing to raise them. This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy. Characters who are quirky...some honest...some not so much...at times, there are so many characters, it does become somewhat confusing...the story moves quickly...curl up for an afternoon, be transported into this story that reads like nonfiction but is fiction.

Forget genteel Southern ladies. The Williams women are a force to be reckoned with… and they’ve got the body count to prove it.

After the death of their parents, Tara, June, Clementine, and Walker went to live with their Gran in Willow Gap, Alabama. Now they’re all grown up and on the week of Decoration Sunday, the Williams clan must gather in Willow Gap to lay their beloved Gran to rest. But it won’t be a peaceful weekend. The Williams women all have secrets they’d like to keep hidden, which is proving quite difficult with the whole town watching. Not to mention, Sheriff Dean has been after the Williams girls since 1993 when Gran was accused of killing her cheating husband. They just need to make it through the weekend. But things quickly spin out of control and, before Decoration Sunday arrives, more than one person will end up six feet under.

Bird’s second small-town suspense will have you flipping pages long into the night. A dash of murder, a sprinkle of secrets, and a full heaping of Southern charm, I devoured this book in two days.
