I recently discovered Melinda Leigh and I'm addicted! This book was awesome. It had her signature spine tingling climax. Bree and Matt are a great team romantically and as detectives. As usual, I did not guess who the bad guy was. I'm looking forward to more in the series.

Complex police procedural with twists, turns, and enough red herrings to keep you guessing to the end. Super cast of characters that keep it real, and I love the focus on rescuing animals and treating all animals with love and care. A great crime mystery on all counts.

I loved the suspense, action, and romance all packed into this interesting read. Part of a series but you don't need to read the series to make sense of it
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Wow! Such a great addition to the series. The mystery was intriguing and well paced. While this could be read as a stand alone it is so much richer when read as part of the series. I love the dynamic relationships that Bree has with her key people and I adore the family scenes. The characters are rich and well developed. The rapport between Bree and Matt may be my favourite romantic pairing of this genre. They just pip Mercy and Truman from Kendra Elliott’s Mercy Kincaid series. I highly recommend the series, especially to fans of Kendra Elliot, Lisa Reagan and Karen Rose. The only downside to receiving this ARC is that it will feel even longer until the next book. Thanks to Ms Leigh, Netgalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for.an honest review. 5 stars .

I just love this series so much. Especially the relationship between Bree and Matt and the families. In the middle of cases, they still find moments together that are so sweet.

This case was really interesting. I thought for sure I knew who the killer was right off the bat, but I was wrong. I like being wrong. That means the author did an amazing job of telling a story without making it seem far fetched. When the killer was revealed, it made perfect sense. In 2 days, 2 men are killed in a very similar way, leading Bree and her deputies to believe that the one person is responsible for both. While investigating, they are led to one person and even though they were wrong, they were able to figure out who it really is and who the next target is. Now they just have to get there in time, not only because someone is in jeopardy, but also because it just became personal.

Like most cases in this series, this is a quick paced story that only takes place over a few days. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and a lot of action especially towards the end. Well written and easy to follow along. I have an idea of what may be coming next four Bree and Matt and I really hope I'm right. I'm totally invested in their relationship and can't get enough. If you haven't read this series from the beginning, you should. I guess this could be read as a standalone as enough information is supplied as far as who everyone is and how they got to where they are, but I recommend starting at the beginning for a much better reading experience.
