This is a great series with such lovable recuring characters. I adore Bree and her family, and I enjoy getting to see their personal life. They're just so cute. My only criticism is that it seemed like they forced the case to be personal to Bree by including her brother. I don't know it just didn't seem to fit. However, I adored the chase, and I had zero idea who it was until near the end. As usual, the book was packed full of suspense right up until the very tense ending.

This is book 6 in the Bree Taggert series. I have not read all the previous books in the series. Can this be read as a standalone? I think it can but reading all the books in the series is highly recommended.
Lie to Her is a fast paced police procedural that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Once you start reading, you won’t want to stop reading until you get to the end of the story.
I loved the relationship between Bree and Matt. Her relationship with her brother and her sisters children is heartwarming.
Very suspenseful and engaging mystery.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a new author for me, not sure why I've just found her, but holy crap what a book!

This very well written, suspense filled page turner kept me engaged from the get go. Loved Bree and Matt's characters as well as the supporting cast. Seriously kept you trying to figure out who the sicko was, and when you finally realized who it was you go down a whole new level of freak out with the killer. I hate snakes, so that aspect of the story gave me the creeps. I have not read the previous books in this series and had no problem with following the storyline, but seriously plan on reading them. Readers of Amanda McKinney will love this book!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Murder, Suspense, family and love

Lie to Her is the sixth book in Melinda Leigh’s Bree Taggert Series. This is a romantic suspense novel (heavy on the suspense) with a great storyline and fantastic characters.

Sheriff Bree Taggert and criminal investigator Matt Flynn respond to a call to investigate a body found in a local man’s backyard. This murder is quickly followed by another and the focus connects both victims as players in the internet dating scene. Anger, jealousy and lies are abundant, and Bree and Matt must find the killer before someone Bree loves is targeted to die.

I couldn’t put this book down. (I read it all in one sitting! Who needs sleep). Leigh is a phenomenal writer. She uses each book in the series to portray the growing relationship between Matt and Bree and the amazing cast of secondary characters draws the reader in and leave you craving more. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Review copy was received from NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I have loved this Bree Taggert series from the beginning. It is in the genre of police procedural which is a favorite for me. But the great development of complex characters with attention to both their professional life and personal one is a key. There is the mystery of the investigation which I always enjoy. But it is well blended with personal issues, relationship and family growth. I also have to dream about Dana's cooking.

The murder investigation seems to be a serial killer angry at men who hookup through dating apps and lie to the women in multiple ways. Bree and Matt look into different people who use the apps to try to learn much more about their victims, but men keep dying. Things get dicey and there is a threat to Bree's family, but they eventually solve the case.

On the personal side, Bree and Matt handle the aspect of their relationship being public now. That includes being very professional at work. Adam, Bree's brother is connecting more with his niece and nephew, and getting more involved with the family. I loved the horses they got for more riding in the family.

I have also enjoyed the author's Morgan Dane and Scarlet Falls series which are very loosely related to this one. They are earlier but do not need to be read first. I would read this series itself in order as they are excellent and both the world and relationships continue to develop. I look forward to the next addition to the Bree Taggert series in 2023 Catch Her Death, because I have loved every book in the series.

When 2 men are found murdered and the scenes are easily similar Sheriff Bree Taggert is the lead investigator. Both men were active on dating apps and the focus of the investigation starts there. This is a fast paced read with a few twists along the way. Besides the suspense we are given a glimpse into the characters lives along with a romance. This book is part of a series but could easily be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Sheriff Bree and Consultant Matt a find themselves in the middle of another murder investigation. A man is murdered in an unusual way and the investigation leads them is lots of different directions. When another man is murdered in the same way things become even more complicated. It looks like the murders are linked to dating sites and some of the women who dated both the men. There are deadly animals involved which brings an added element of danger to their work. When evidence start pointing to one of the women things start to heat up and push the team in many different directions. It looks like someone Bree knows may be a target of the killer and it makes the chase to find the killer even more intense. I loved seeing the relationship between Bree and Matt, her team and with her family grow, it definitely added to the story for me.

The sixth Bree Taggert mystery is centered around on-line dating. The first victim is a man who was a serial dater, He was found in his home with his wrists and ankles zip tied, with plastic wrap all around his head, and the word liar carved into his forehead.

The next day there is a second victim who was also zip tied, wrapped in plastic wrap, and with the word cheater carved into his forehead.

Bree and her boyfriend/chief investigator Matt are soon deep into investigating the various dating apps and women who dated both men. And it seems that everyone is lying. Meanwhile, the killer has his own plans for a victim who lies close to Bree's heart.

I enjoyed this police procedural. I also liked seeing the relationship with Bree and Matt deepening. Bree has changed so much since she came home to solve her sister's murder and became the instant mother to her sister's two children. She is learning to let people into her life.

(4.25) A solid addition to the Bree Taggert series. Melinda Leigh has never written a book that I didn't like. All 4 -5's. We start off with Bree and Matt going to an auction to find a horse fore her brother. They rescue 2. Be still my heart. I am usually pretty good at figuring out the guilty party the first time they appear. Failed on this one, I bought their story hook line and sinker. I thought for sure Dana would be attacked, after all, hello - dating app. Love the twists and turns. Especially the death of one character, the method was a little twist I did not see coming. It is always great to revisit Bree. I love watching the kids evolve, her relationship with her brother and with Matt. All impact my heart and entertain. If you have not read Melinda Leigh, I highly recommend her. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #lietoher #breetaggert #melindaleigh #montlake #netgalley

Book 6 in the Sheriff Bree Taggert series set in small town USA but my first read. Although an enjoyable read it is clear there there is a backstory and I think knowing a bit more of the characters history would have been helpful. Well written and easy read with likeable characters.

Briefly, a man is found murdered in his home with the word liar carved into his forehead. The next day there is another similar murder and Bree, working with criminal investigator Matt Flynn, discovers both victims were using on line dating apps and seemed to treat the women on them with scant respect. So is someone seeking revenge? Everyone interviewed is hiding something and then matters take a deadly turn when the Sheriff starts receiving threats to herself and her children.

Good but fairly straightforward plot which has some super red herrings, and a little warning if you are snake phobic - beware. Alongside the murders we explore Bree’s family and her romantic relationship which adds to the depth of the characters. If you enjoy a good crime thriller with a touch of romance then this is for you.

Bree Taggert #6

When a digital marketer is found murdered in his backyard - hands bound and face smothered by a plastic wrap - Sheriff Bree Taggert and Criminal Investigator Matt Flynn respond to the call. Their investigation focuses on the man's dating-app profile and the word liar carved into his forehead. Then the killer strikes again. Both victims are players in an internet dating scene. In their wake, they leave a trail of hurt angry women. But Bree and Matt aren't convinced the motive isn't as simple as it appears.

I haven't read any of the other books in this series. Bree and Matt are called to the scene of a murder. Within twenty-four hours, they're investigating another murder with similarities. The story is filled with suspense, red herrings, and its action packed. Bree is one tough lady. There's a lot going on in this story. I was guessing all the way to the end. I liked the authors writing style. This book can be read as a standalone.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Montlake and the author #MelindaLeigh for my ARC of #LieToHer in exchange for an honest review'

Lie to Her is book 6 in the Bree Taggert Series.

Once again Sheriff Taggert and investigator Matt Flynn are called to a murder scene. The victim has been smothered by plastic wrap. Upon searching the house they find a basement full of snakes in cages. YUK!

As the investigation continues, they find it may be connected to a dating app. I found this part of the story interesting. I did learn a bit about snakes, but would have been fine without those parts.

Another great police procedural by Leigh. I can't wait to see what happens in the series next. I enjoy the dynamic between Bree and Matt and hope for more of their story in the next book.

Animal lovers would like this book as there are dogs and horses involved too.

Thanks to netgalley and Montlake for the arc.

Thank you to Netgalley and Montlake for this earc

I’ve read all the previous books in this series and was excited to see where this next book would take us.

Unfortunately, it was kind of a let down. The story fell flat for me, the mystery wasn’t complex and the saddest part, I didn't even feel the love between Bree and Matt. Not at any point did the story make me curious or interested in who the killer was, even when it was trying so hard. Because when all the leads point towards the same person, you know it won’t be them.

Also, I understand that these books are set in a small town, but not every book someone from Bree’s family has to be involved. We also barely saw them in this book, which made me kind of sad. The scenes with the horses were adorable but i wish we got to see more

I am definitely going to continue with the series but I hope I love the next book more

. Two men have been killed in the same manner in Sheriff Bree Taggert’s jurisdiction. Together with her partner, both professionally and personally, Matt Flynn, she must find the murderer before another killing. Both men were serial daters on the online dating apps. Did they break the wrong woman’s heart? Could a woman have the strength to do the murders? So many questions giving Bree much to consider. This installment of the Bree Taggert series gives a good solid mystery as well as giving more insight into Bree’s new life as she raises her niece and nephew.

LIE TO HER is Melinda Leigh's latest instalment in the Bree Taggert series. To date I've been very much enjoying this series and was very excited to see what this newest book would have in store. I was pleasantly surprised by the contents of this novel to say the least.

LIE TO HER begins with the perspective of an unknown murderer who asphyxiates a digital marketer in his own backyard with plastic wrap. Thus begins the Randolph County Sheriff's Department's investigation into the whodunnit it, with Sheriff Bree Taggert taking the lead. Before the investigation gets very far along, a second murder with similar patterns occurs. Taggert and her team are left to weed out the many potential suspects as the killer's rage escalates.

Despite being the 6th book in the series, I believe this could be read as standalone but you would be missing out on the overall character growth of the main characters as the novels progress.

As with every book I've read by Leigh to date, this one is fast paced and twisty. I was hooked immediately from the first few pages, easily bingeing to the near 50% mark in one sitting. Leigh's writing is very well done, keeping the reader engaged from start to finish.

I liked seeing the character arc progression in LIE TO HER. We see each of the main character's growth throughout the novel as they each struggle with personal situations and managing a work-life balance during an active murder investigation. While there is an aspect of romance within, it is very subtle. A slow progression with each book and never truly the main focus, so if romance isn't for you in a thriller, rest assured that this one isn't overkill.

I loved the plot in LIE TO HER - it's fast-paced with multiple twists that keep you guessing as you try to figure out who has the most motive for killing the victims. I fell for Leigh's red herrings a couple times and was slightly surprised by the turn of events as the investigation came to its climax.

Overall, a great read and I can't wait to see what Leigh has up her sleeve for the next book!
