The dysfunctional Peña family has another tragedy when jazz musician brother Markus is murdered. His estranged sister Melinda and Emily had not spoken with Markus since their mother’s funeral two years ago. Melinda is a former social worker with PTSD while younger sister Emily has become a masked vigilante named Three Strikes who violently punishes abusive men.

This story had unlikeable characters and I did not really care what happened to them.

I received a digital ARC from Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer. All opinions are my own.

To say the Pena family is dysfunctional is an understatement. Since the death of their mother, the three siblings and their father do not see each other. It's been yeras.

We meet Melinda, an ex-social worker suffering from PTDS. She struggles in relationships and seem to self-sabatoge anything good in her life.

Her younger sister, Emily, works in non-profit I believe, but on the side she is a secret masked vigilante (yes, vigilante) punshing abusive men. Her own personal relationship is a struggle and she isn't honest really with anyone.

Their brother Marcus, a musician, is murdered. The two sisters come together to find out what happened.

While there is some humor, this book is very dar. Much was far fetched to me and I found the characters pretty unlikeable.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The wannabe detective storyline is always one that I’m looking forward to read and usually enjoy.
The book has a few unpredictable scenes and twists , some unlikeable characters and a few more interesting moments that added up to my overall enjoyment of this story.
There are a few moments where I thought it’s way too far fetched, the vigilante group and all their taking justice in own hands. But I think it’s a good story that many readers will enjoy.

3.5 stars. This was so much darker and gorier than I expected. The plot was a bit convoluted at times, with too many storylines. All of the characters were well written and complex, with glimpses into the backstories of each one. The twist toward the end I did not see coming which is good because that means it wasn’t obvious.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to rate and review a ARC of this book.

No Home for Killers had a great premise, but just didn’t hit a high point for me.
I found the characters unlikable, Emily (who I think you’re supposed to dislike) ended up being my favorite.
The overall premise is sisters Melinda and Emily attempting to find their brother’s murderer; however, this is intermeshed with a sub-plot about a citizen vigilante which was just a little far-fetched.
The story has good bones, but needs more fleshing out in my opinion.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an early copy of this e-book to review.

This book starts with a bang and never slows down. Strong female leads that will take you on a wild ride leaving you questioning where the line is between right and wrong.

The latest E A Aymar thriller, No Home for Killers is a chilling tale of a conflicted, perverse, self-destructive family. Melinda is a PTSD sufferer and a haunted ex-social worker, who is struggling with her personal relationships. Emily, her younger sister is a secret vigilante, pursuing abusive men. When Marcus, their elder brother is murdered, the two sisters must join together despite having no contact in several years, since their mother’s death. A trigger warning for readers: some actions and themes may cause distress. From its opening moments when Melinda is informed of her brother’s murder, to the ever-rising body count and brutal climax, this is not a tale for the faint of heart. A grippingly dark narrative, with humorous moments, that ratches up the action, making for at times gory, three and a half stars read rating. With thanks to Thomas & Mercer and the author, for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own and freely given.

E.A. Aymar's The Unrepentant is a near perfect crime novel that details similar crimes to what happens in his latest, No Home for Killers and he has a way of dealing compassionately with the victims of such crimes and being unafraid to document what they have gone through.

The difference between this and his former title is that he builds the characters and story as one in his earlier book, but here dives in two footed with plot developments before we really understand who the characters are and it left me unwilling to really care about the whole thing. The vigilante thing was cool and Emily was the most enjoyable character, if defined by this one thing she does.

Aymar has a way of writing prose that makes it drip down smooth, but the lack of build up to who murdered Markus before we have any sense of who he actually is and who is looking into it make it feel hurried.

Who killed Markus? His sisters Emily and Melinda both know he was a horrible person. Abuse runs through their family and this grim novel goes further than I wanted to read in weaving it through the mystery. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I ultimately DNF.

Wow! A tightly woven and well written suspenseful story. The sibling dynamic and the mystery of what happened to Markus and how his sisters deal with it is so well done. Not to mention the youngest sisters extracurricular activities, is SO SO SO good. Aymar gets better with each book.

It's not unusual to start a story out of chronological order as a teaser, and I thought this was the case here. Unfortunately, the story keeps jumping around, and with some strange characters, this is a messy book. Different is good, messy is not.

It took me a while to read this and I regret it so much that I didn't give it a go
not gonna lie, it did keep me on edge the whole time.
Rating as moderate because the pace was very slow for me.

This book was a great fast paced read. The characters were definitely a mix of things, including psychopaths. The plot was great and the characters were well-developed. Overall it was a great thriller and I would highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
The synopsis of this book sounded interesting to me so I requested a copy to read.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during this 2nd attempt, I have
decided to stop reading this book
and state that this book just wasn't for me.
I wish the author, publisher and all those promoting the book much success and connections with the right readers.

This sounded good! Love a family drama and it started off strong. Melinda and Emily’s brother die and no one thinks it’s by accident. Unfortunately, this story didn’t work for me. I couldn’t connect to any of the characters. By the end I was skimming just to see where it would go. I didn’t guess the twist, but it didn’t blow me away.

Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas and Mercer for my arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book wasn't really for me, I didn't believe most of the characters and the story felt superficial while it was dealing with serious topics and excessively violent. Others might like it more than i did. It is also a very long book and a lot of it felt like it could have been tightened up. 2.5 rounded up to 3

Markus, Emily, and Melinda are three siblings who have secrets that they are trying to from outsiders. The sisters have not seen their brother in two years since their mother had passed, he has been murdered. They start to search for his killer, and they have to jump through plenty of hurdles to get to the truth of his death. While on their search they discover that he had enemies, an uncle of vindictive ex and a woman that he left abandoned. A fascinating story and great characters, about family, how they grow apart but come together when tragedy happens. The bonds of family that keeps people together.

Utterly gripping! Melinda and Emily are both great characters — strong sisters with their own demons and their own way of handling life's challenges. (One of them has a method of doing so that is a bit more, ahem, illegal.) A little violent, a little funny, and a lot engrossing.

I enjoyed this story unfolding, learning more about Markus, Melinda, and Emily and their family dynamic, the vigilante justice. However, I wish someone could have prepared me for that violent ending. Oof.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC!

This book was so weird, fun and captivating. The characters descriptions were so well done it actually made me shudder...and then someone would have a funny response and it made me laugh. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, but if mentions of murder, blood, etc etc creeps you out, don't read it.
